And here I thought it was going to be a calm monday evening while I marathon Seitokai no Ichizon (I’ll blog about that tomorrow). The news made my blood boil for a few seconds.

I’m currently participating in this little forum discussion about the growing acceptance of anime. I don’t believe we should exaggerate this development, but it would sure as hell suck if anime production companies were to start catering my anime specifically to the casual TV watcher demographic. And what better way to do that than to have an American company steer anime adaptations of presumably Western works towards American watchers.
The first issue I have with this move is the hijacking of the term anime. I’m sorry, but just because Funimation might hire cheap Japanese labor for producing animation does not mean I have to call it anime. They might release it in Japan as well, but will its content be tailored for the Japanese audience first and foremost? Do I need to mention Afro Samurai? I’m afraid it would be like mentioning Hitler in an argument, but it’s up there. What I’m honestly afraid of is such titles becoming popular in the future. It’s bad enough that IGN classifies Avatar: The Last Airbender as anime. I mean, you can easily dispel such a notion, but can you do that with a show that’s going to be produced and released in Japan? The upcoming Halo animation comes to mind.

But the fundamental question of WHY still remains. Why would Funimation do such a thing? Is their thirst for world dominance really that strong? Or perhaps it’s an indicator that anime isn’t good enough to fuel their engine? The latter sounds more plausible to me. Then again, they saw what happened to Urban Vision, Geneon USA and ADV, didn’t they?

No compromise for the sake of successful international co-productions is worth the possibility of compromising the identity of this beloved Japanese entertainment medium. And with this closing line, I’m loading Seizon 03 to Media Player Classic.

One subject, broken into more than 20 separate posts. It’s going to go kind of like this.

Each day, I will release a new letter. I have all of my anime alphabetized, so this post is going to start with Numbers through A, that is to say, anime titles beginning with a number (or period) and the letter A. Tomorrow, B, the next day, C, and so on and so forth.

I was going to make one post, and just have it be really long. But I previewed the post when I was around G, and realized that the post would be way to long, and nobody in their right mind would read the whole thing. In fact, I doubt that anyone will read this.

As I go, I will also paste each section in the page on the top, which will be titled (if it isn’t already) “Anime Character List” or something like that. Anyway, I’m trying to set this up so that this post will end right before December 6th, which would be one full year of Eye Sedso, which blows my mind. Let’s do this shit.

Let’s start off with the A’s (or dots?)

.hack//SIGN – Sora

Ugh. What a shitty way to start off what should be a pretty cool post that most people won’t read anyway. I hated every single character from .hack//SIGN, which is one of the reasons why I dropped it (like, 3 episodes away from finishing it). Sora is cool because he not only has sick knife-like weapons, but he kills off the other characters, and I hate them, so he’s okay in my book. I mean, every other character is so fucking lame that….you know what, fuck it. NEXT!

07 Ghost – Frau

Wow, this post is starting off badly, as I didn’t like either of these first two entries. 07 Ghost was too gay for me. and Frau gets the win here only because, based on his collection and love for erotica, he can’t really be considered completely gay. Also, he provides some comic relief by being perverted, which is fine. I still don’t like him.

Afro Samurai – Afro

First of all, I would like to point out that Afro Samurai is filled with some of the most awesome, insane, fucking cool anime characters out there. Any character in this show could be a number one. But look at Afro:

• He’s got a fucking afro.
• He’s voiced by fucking SAMUEL L JACKSON!!!!!!
• He’s fucking sick at fighting.
• He looks fucking cool (even if you take out the afro)
• Have you seen his sideburns? He reminds me of a Japan’d out version of Jules from Pulp Fiction.
• He’s black, and black samurai kick ass (judging by this anime, which is the only place I’ve seen a black samurai).
• He was an awesome hockey coach.

Basically, if Samuel L Jackson is voicing a character, you know that it HAS to be a character that is not only bad ass, but awesome.

Ah! My Goddess! – Urd

What is it about Urd that makes her awesome? Is it her sometimes abrasive personality? Is it her sick white or silver or whatever color that is hair? Is it the cool markings on her face? Is it the fact that she’s both a Goddess, and half devil? Yes. In fact, it’s all of those. Belldandy can suck my fucking balls, Urd is the best. I wish she just turned demon and killed everyone. (I fucking hate Belldandy).

Akane-iro ni Somaru Saka – Nagomi Shiraishi

What the FUCKK??? I didn’t choose Rie Kugimiya’s character? No. No I did not. And that’s because Nagomi is awesome. She almost reminds me of Nagato from Haruhi (you can guess who the best character is gonna be from that show) because she’s oh so mysterious. I mean, take the haunted house episode for example. She was fucking weird. She’s fucking weird, and I think that’s a good quality to have. (I can’t remember much of this show, and that means it wasn’t that great).

Akikan! – Yell

So yeah. Why Yell? First of all, she has a cool weapon, aka a sword (thingy). Second of all, she’s an obvious lesbian. Thirdly, she acts like a cat sometimes (like in that shitty filler episode). That’s it. Those are all of my reasons. Take it or leave it. The show really wasn’t all that great, so I don’t care.

Aoi Hana – Kyouko

If you read my review of the series, then you know that I chose her because she looks awesome with that blonde hair flipped to the side. And she cries a lot, which is super effective. What the hell, she’s awesome. And a lesbian (actually I think she’s bisexual. I bet she ends up with her fiance).

Asu no Yoichi – Chihaya Ikaruga

This will not be the last you've seen of Chihaya on Eye Sedso. Hint hint.

This girl has STYLE. I mean, she’s probably one of the best dressed characters that I’ve seen in anime in recent memory. She causes trouble and draws fucking manga, which is cool, even though in every single anime it seems there’s always someone who draws manga or something, and they always end up being the coolest characters. Look for her the next time (or the time after that) that i do a cool characters post.

Asura Cryin’ – Kanade Takatsuki

Okay, first and foremost, Heterochromian = Glory. So big points there. Secondly, most of the other characters are kind of lame. In fact, this show was pretty fucking bad. But Kanade ruled, before the artists shit the bed and couldn’t draw fucking eyes (or anything else for that matter). You want to see why else she’s awesome? See this post.

Azumanga Daioh – Tomo Takino Kimura Sensei

Now first of all, this was a tough call between Tomo and Osaka. Oh and by the way, anyone who is complaining right now (I know you’re out there) about why Chiyo didn’t win because she’s “so cute and blah blah blah.”….shut the fuck up. I don’t care. Tomo’s the best (even though Osaka is really fucking close), and what’s more, here’s why:

1. She’s impulsive. Remember when she threw Chiyo’s keys into the woods because she wondered what it would be like if they lost the keys? That’s showing real zeal and character. I love it.
2. Actually that first quote is almost enough to prove my point, but I’ll continue….She slacks nicely. Now when class time rolled around in high school, I found it to be an ample time to slack off and take naps. Even yesterday, I had a paper due, but I didn’t overwork, I simply ignored the problem (doing the paper) and it went away (it was optional, but I really should have done it). Of course, college desks make it hard to nap on, they’re so fucking small. plus I don’t sleep much anymore.
3. She reminds me of me (or how I used to be). Fucking retarded. (I miss having a shitload of energy, and bouncing off the walls). I used to be so impulsive and eccentric that I didn’t know what to do with myself. Then this year it all disappeared. I fucking matured. I’m pissed off that I matured. It’s all this ISSS’s fault, letting me organize my thoughts and shit. FUNGUL!

This should probably be a tie between her and Osaka. Osaka fucking rules.

Well I debated for a while, and then I went looking for the clip where Tomo throws the keys, and I found this one:

I totally forgot about this dude. He was funny as something that you laugh really hard at (like how shitty my analogies are). Kimura was my favorite (but Osaka and Tomo still kick ass). Azumanga Daioh was the shit.

It’s been a rainy day.
We’ve some problem with sleep and we live in a sort of time bubble.
I was awake at 6 am, so we were printing the last colour of the Amanda poster this morning at 8.
It came out  very good, we’ve printed the ones for Amanda for now, I think we’ll change a colour for the Malleus’ version we’re gonna print tomorrow.
There’ll be about 210 pieces for these ones and 21 pieces on cardboard.

I found it a little boring, good graphic but I don’t know, a little confusing maybe.
Not happy about it.

Listening to Left Lane Cruiser – “All You can eat”

I decided to abstract, just for a moment of course, from all the work that we are doing now and that soon needs to be done (especially for SuperCollider), and relax my mind in a more familiar climate. I’m slicing up the tension with the man who owns the no.1 head band and the sharpest katana in the feudal Japan – Afro Samurai. Here’s a beat I made inspired by this awesome cartoon (manga) and by the music of Rza a.k.a. Bobby Digital. The beggining of this piece is a bit similar to work we heard in Paul Rhys’s classes, of Edgar Varese and the other noise makers, so it has some connection to what we do at present. Plus I hope it’s music (I’m not sure what music is anymore ) and that is what our course is about. I can’t do this kind of stuff in SC yet, ha ha, so I had to make this beat in Logic with the assistance of a MIDI keyboard. Whoever is reading this, I stronly recommend this manga to you. I am not a big fan of cartoons/mangas, but this one has that unique climate that makes you watch it and can’t wait to see more. Two big reasons for that is, like I mentioned before, the soundtrack made by Rza and the voice of Samuel L. Jackson given to Afro Samurai/Ninja Ninja. I didn’t make any video to it, just a drawing of Afro Samurai, because YouTube has a tendency to remove your videos. Okay, I am going back to making some incredibly confusing lines of code in SuperCollider now. Sayonara!

Larry Clark can be hit and miss, for every Kids or Ken Park you can get Another Day in Paradise. Yet over the years one thing has become increasingly clear. Despite his penchant for pervy shots of pre pubescent boys with their shirts off, he offers a gritty shocking kind of reality that is totally alien to Hollywood. Wassup Rockers (Accent) is a departure for Clark. There’s no drugs or explicit voyeuristic teen sex here, yet there is the kind of desperate street realism for which he has made his name. It follows a group of hispanic skaters from south central, longhaired punkers in tight jeans who fly in the face of the baggy gangster rap norm. In the directors commentary Clark speaks of finding the crew at an LA skate park then taking them to various other skate parks every saturday for the next year. Whilst there’s something concerning about a 66 year old hanging with 14 year old boys every weekend, the first half of the film, coming from their own tales possesses a realism that could never be achieved without some degree of mutual trust. These kids are playing themselves. Unfortunately the second half, where Clark takes some artistic license and re-imagines them as The Warriors meeting Paris Hilton all becomes a little too slapstick, too kitsch, feeling forced, overly cinematic and very very dubious. Yet we’re under no illusions with Clark. Even his flawed films are morally questionable enough to make them essential.

Blacklisted by Hollywood and outed as a member of the communist party, Jules Dassin subsequently relocated to Europe where he would go on to create Rififi, one of the greatest heist films ever. Yet in 1947 he was still in the US working with Burt Lancaster on the prison drama Brute Force (Directors Suite) which offers old chestnuts like stool pigeons, unbreakable but moral prisoners (Lancaster) and a sadistic warden who drives the good and noble prisoners to a suicidal escape attempt. Unfortunately though due to Oz what may have been shocking at the time now feels a little dated. Naked City (Directors Suite) is a thorough yet gripping 1948 police procedural drama. Step by step it demonstrates how to solve a crime, in the way Law and Order and CSI have since replicated. It was also one of the early films actually filmed in the streets of New York, mingling actors and real people, often filmed in a van behind a two way mirror. Night and City (Directors Suite) is one of Dassin’s great films, not in the least due to the casting of dapper sleaze-bag Richard Widmark. Filmed on the streets of 1950 London it’s a hard boiled tale of a fast talking shyster who’s shot at the big time could also be his undoing. This is what noir is all about, the spiral out of control. “Harry is an artist without art,” offers a corrupt club owner about Widmark’s slimy character and the images of Widmark frantically fleeing a London dawn will stay with you forever.

You can file Breakin (Shock) under ‘lame fad dance films,’ alongside your Dirty Dancing’s, your Lambada’s (it was forbidden for a reason), and your Fame’s. Its appeal now is that it’s dripping with kitsch youth culture cliches and features an early appearance from a groovy Jean Claude Van Damme and Ice-T. Then there’s the immortal Turbo dancing to Kraftwerk’s Tour de France which rates alongside the opening to a Touch of Evil as one of the greatest scenes cinema has to offer. Some films are meant to be forgotten, this is too much fun to allow that to happen.

Afro Samurai (Madman) was cool in a dumb hyper violent rivers of blood, spaghetti western meets insane Japanese manga kind’ve way. The melding of Eastern folklore and hip urban Afro American culture was as equally opportunistic as it was inspired. Its sequel Afro Samurai Resurrection (Madman) reeks of cash in, with Samuel L Jackson returning as the voice of Samurai, Lucy Lui and Mark Hamil as the bad guys and of course RZA (Wu Tang Clan) providing the ultra cool score. It’s easy to be seduced by style, bask in the geysers of blood and hip hop beats, yet, well there is no yet, the blood and violence is super cool, sexy as hell and a lot of fun to bask in.

Afro Samurai tries to blend American westerns with Japanese samurai mythos and a tale of revenge. The series looks good, it does after all have quite a budget (as having Samuel L. Jackson voicing the protagonist proves), but I felt it lacked depth. The series is comparatively short with only six episodes but I felt there was not enough content, even for such a small amount.

Samuel L. Jackson plays the part of Afro Samurai, a man looking to avenge his father. In the center of the story is a contest for the strongest warrior of them all, called Number 1. The one who owns the title can only be challenged by Number 2, who anyone can try to kill. Both Number 1 and 2 are required to wear headbands signifying their status. In the beginning Afro Samurai’s father, who holds the title of Number 1, is challenged and killed by a mysterious Number 2. The tale of Afro Samurai is the age old one of revenge. When it comes to plot you can expect no surprises.

The style of Afro Samurai is very dark, almost completely black and white with occasional colors, especially in flashbacks from Afro’s youth. I found the bleakness of the animation and the purposefully ugly characters tiring. This may have something to do with Afro’s character as well. He hardly speaks at all, letting his companion do all the talking for him.

Samuel L. Jackson does a good job voicing Afro’s friend. The way he does it purposefully way over the top, which is sadly the case for the rest of the characters as well. For some reason almost everyone overacts in Afro Samurai. Especially some of the old men had me annoyed, mostly because they didn’t sound convincing. This might be something to do with how the characters have been written. Most of them are very flat and one-sided. None of them had my sympathy at any point, I just could not come to care about what happens to Afro or his friend.

As a good side, the action scenes are occasionally fun to watch. But the weakness of the characters and the clicheyed plot dropped the impact of the action as well. In the end I was happy the series only lasted for six episodes, and even they contained a lot of filler that didn’t really have anything to do with the plot. For me Afro Samurai felt like a trail of drudgery.

La música estará en manos de RZA, por lo que el rap será el ritmo oficial de la serie.

En un extraño mundo (futurista, tal vez…) donde reina el caos, las armas son el alma de la gente y la violencia el pan de cada día. Existe el reto de ser el guerrero #1 del mundo. Pessoal, queria agradecer a todo mundo que lê e aqueles que comentam no blog, e dizer que fechou sexta feira um mes que o blog voltou =D. Queria dizer também, que aceitamos sugestões de posts em qualquer categoria.

Hoje o post vai ser sobre um animezinho muito legal (na minha opinião) , chamado de Afro Samurai.

Produzido pelo estudio Gonzo e lançado para a Tv japonesa originalmente em fevereiro de 2007, pela Fuji Television,  Afro samurai tambem foi exibido no brasil pela MTV em novembro de 2007. O anime é composto de 5 episodios e um filme, Afro Samurai: A Ressureição. Dizem também que uma segunda temporada está sendo produzida ou já foi, realmente não sei ao certo.

***Como já é de prache, aviso ao pessoal que talves contenha spoiler***

História:

Vou ser bem simplificado, a historia é basicamente isso. No japão, em uma era feudal futurista pos-apocaliptica (sim, é doidão mesmo XD), existem sete bandanas numeradas que vão de 1 a 7. Aquele que tem a bandana de numero 1, é considerado um “Deus”, e só pode ser desafiado por aquele que conter a bandana de numero 2 e assim sucessivamente até o numero sete, o qual todo mundo pode desafiar. E quando número um tem todas as bandanas menos a de numero dois, todos podem desafiar o numero dois, e se ele obtiver todas as bandanas, nimguém mais pode desafia-lo, porém nada impede que alguem o mate traiçoeiramente ou roube-as.

Quando criança nosso protagonista ve seu pai, atual numero um, ser morto por pistoleiro, chamado Justice, que torna-se o atual numero um. Quando O anime começa, o Afro já é adulto e tambem é o atual numero dois e basicamente todo o desenrolar do anime são as aventuras de afro, ao ser desafiado por todos, já que o numero um tem todas as outras bandanas, procurar e desafiar o Numero um, Justice.

Não vou contar mais detalhes, por que a historia é muito simples e pequena, porem bastante interessante e com uma animação de primeira. O final também é muito legal e dessa vez não vou contar como acaba.

Between attending Dragon*Con and little news coming out the past couple weeks, I haven’t had a chance to update. But here are two pieces of news for anime on television.

First, dubbed episodes of Naruto Shippuden will appear on Disney XD. Disney XD is a new basic cable channel and multi-platform brand that showcases a compelling mix of live-action and animated programming for kids age 6-14. Episodes will begin in October and air weekly. (Source: VIZ)

Second, Afro Samurai Resurrection will be airing on Spike tonight at 1:00 – 3:00 AM, ET/PT. This encore presentation is in honor of its Primetime Emmy-nomination for Outstanding Animated Program, Spike’s first-ever Primetime Emmy-Nomination. The winner of this animation category will be revealed during the 2009 Creative Arts Awards on Saturday, September 12 at the Nokia Theater in Los Angeles. “Afro Samurai: Resurrection” has already been honored with a 2009 juried Primetime Emmy for Art Director Shigemi Ikeda, Art Director for Outstanding Individual Achievement in Animation. El piloto original para Afro Samurai producido por Madhouse y dirigido por Takeshi Koike (Animatrix: World Record, Dead leaves, Trava Fist PLanet) en el 2003.

Bueno al final sabemos que termino en las manos del studio GONZO y se transformo en una serie de tv.

PD: Si se que no es de juegos, pero es una muy buena serie y pelicula que tiene un juego.  =P

El piloto original de Afro Samurai ha aparecido colgado en Youtube (blehh!! XD). Afro Samurai se planeaba en un principio y como resultado salieron 5 ovas XD , en vez de una película y el piloto fue dirigido por Takeshi Koike (Animatrix), para Madhouse en 2003. Finalmente, el proyecto de película terminó siendo una serie de tv, animada por estudio Gonzo y sin la presencia de Koike.

Sangue!

Enquanto os brasileiros só assistiram o anime original via MTV e aguardam o lançamento do mangá pela Panini, no início deste ano os americanos tiveram uma grata surpresa relativa à Afro Samurai.

A série ganhou um longa animado feito diretamente pra tv e que contou com o mesmo time do anime original, inclusive com o estúdio Gonzo na produção e a voz do Samuel L. Jackson como o personagem título.

Além de fazer a alegria dos fãs, Afro Samurai: Resurrection conseguiu uma grande proeza na última premiação do Emmy, considerado o Oscar da tv americana, conquistando o prêmio de Mérito Individual em Animação para Shigemi Ikeda, o diretor de arte do anime. Ikeda já é um profissional calejado no ramo, pois já ocupou a mesma posição em séries como Bubblegum Crisis Tokyo: 2040, El Hazard, Inuyasha e dezenas de outras produções. Ou seja, o tiozinho merece. =D

A editora Panini lançará em breve mais um mangá em terras brasileiras. Trata-se de Afro Samurai, de Takashi Okazaki – cujo anime chegou a ser exibido pela MTV no Brasil e possui relativa popularidade entre os otakus. Com apenas 2 volumes, não se sabe ainda qual formato, preço e outros detalhes acerca do lançamento.

Pra quem não sabe, a história de Afro Samurai se desenrola em um Japão pós apocalíptico – mas ainda com forte característica feudal – onde aquele que possuir a “bandana número 1″ se tornará o supremo do mundo. Quando moleque, Afro viu seu pai (que era o número um) ser morto e jurou se vingar disso um dia. De posse da bandana número 2, ele trilha sua sede de vingança sendo constantemente desafiado por aqueles que querem tomar sua bandana. Simples, mas violentamente eficaz =).

Afro Samurai

Öncelikle kısaca konusundan bahsedeceğim (izlemeyenler için), daha sonra bolca spoiler içeren yorumlara geçeceğim.

T.Okazaki

Takashi Okazaki’nin aynı isimli mangasından uyarlanan Afro Samurai, aşırı gelişmiş bilim ve tekniğe rağmen halen feodal yapıyla yönetilen kaotik ve sosyal açıdan geride kalmış bir Japonya’da geçmektedir. Samurai ve ninjaların yanı sıra gelişmiş teknolojinin ürünü olan cyborg, android, robot ve bir çok uçuk yaratık ülkede kaos ve vahşete yol açmaktadır.

Seri, Afro denilen baş karakterimizin küçüklüğünde “1 numaralı kafa bandı”nı taşıyan babasının vahşice öldürülerek yeni “1 numaralı kafa bandı” sahibinin doğuşuna tanıklık etmesiyle başlar. Bunun üzerine Afro hayatını ceheneme çeviren ve onu sonsuz bir yalnızlığa sürükleyecek olan intikam peşinde koşmaya başlar.

Bu dünyadaki inanca göre 1 numaralı kafa bandının sahibi Tanrısal güçler kazanır ve dünyanın en güçlü samurai olarak kabul edilir. Ancak 1 numaralı kafa bandı taşıyıcısıyla sadece 2 numaralı kafa bandı taşıyıcısının dövüşme hakkı vardır. Afro 2 numaralı kafa bandının peşinde bir çok kişiyi acımasızca katleder ve 1 numaralı kafa bandı taşıyıcısını bulmak ve babasının intikamını almak için yoluna devam eder.

Efendim şimdi bu animenin çizgisi daha önce izlediğim animelerle karşılaştırınca daha realistik. Gayet başarılı. Özellikle backgroundlar ve efektler hayran olunmayacak gibi değil. Robot ve cyborg tarzı şeylerin tasarmlarına ve bunlarda kullanılan yaratıcılığa özellikle hasta oldum.

Bunun dışında diğer izlediğim animelerden bir diğer farkı da kan, vahşet ve seks. Zaten filmin ilk 5 dakikasında havada kanlar içinde uçan kafa, kol, bacak sayısı görüldüğünde ileride az çok ne gibi şeylerle karşılabileceğimizi tahmin edebiliyoruz Bu bakımdan da hoşuma gitti Afro Samurai.

Hikaye ve karakterlerin yapısına bakacak olursak 5 bölüm artı bir buçuk saatlik bir filme göre yeterli derinliğe sahip kanımca her iki unsurda. Afro’nun gözünü kör eden intikamı yüzünden ona herşeyi öğreten Sensei’sini gözünü kırpmadan öldürmesini (sırf iki numaralı kafa bandına sahip olup babasının öcünü almaya gidebilmek için) ve bunun sonucunda bütün arkadaşlarından olmasını bölümlerin içinde kısa flashbacklerle öğreniyoruz.

Gino

Daha sonra en yakın arkadaşı olan Gino’nun parçalanan vücudunu bulan deli (bu karakteri tarif etmek için biraz ezik kaldı bu kelime ama…) doktor tarafından bir android’e dönüştürülür ve koca oyuncak ayı kafasıyla Gino da Sensei’sinin ve diğer arkadaşlarının öcünü almak için Afro’nun peşinden koşar.

Bir noktadan sonra iyi-kötü ayırımı söz konusu olmuyor. Herkes bir kan davası peşinde, gözünü karartmış

arkadaşını, hocasını, bir çocuğu öksüz bırakma pahasına onların babalarını falan öldürmeye başlamış. Ve yola babasının öcünü alma amacıyla çıkan Afro da sonunda babasından (gerçek olmasa da) feci dayak yiyor. Afro’dan intikam almak için yola çıkmasına rağmen Afro’nun ölesiye dayak yemesine kalbi dayanmayan Gino, Afro’nun babasına saldırırken ölüyor. Onu korumaya çalışan kız kardeşi (asıl Afro’dan intikam alma planını yapan kişi) de ölüyor ve sonunda Afro çakma babasını öldürüyor.

Kısaca Afro dışında herkes ölüyor. Ama dediğim gibi bir noktadan sonra artık o da ölse “ah be ana karakter öldü.nasıl olur? iyi adamdı…” falan demezsiniz yani. Hatta ben bi ara için için Afro’nun bu inatçılığı yüzünden baya sinir olmuştum da gebersin artık falan diye düşünmeye başlamıştım açıkçası. Kendi başına gelen şeyi (babasının öldürülmesi) dizi boyunca başka insanlara yaşatan (milletin babasını, çocuğunu, kardeşlerini falan öldürmesi) bu karakter bir süre sonra baya antipatik gelmeye başladı ben napiyim? Haksız mıyım? Sanırım amaç ta buydu zaten.

Sio (Jino'nun kardeşi)

Bunların yanında bir de tam olarak ne olduğunu çözemediğim Afro’nun hayali arkadaşı var. Aslında pek de arkadaş denilmez sadece peşinde dolaşıp durmadan konuşup saçma sapan yorumlar yapıyor. Bu da Afro Samurai’n komik öğlerinden biri. Ama benim anlamadığım şey bu adam gerçek mi değil mi? Genelde dürbün (tabi biraz daha gelişmiş modeli) veya o tarz bişeyle Afro’yu izleyenler görebiliyor sadece bu karakteri. Afro’nun da bunla girdiği tek diyalog “kapa çeneni” demek oluyor.

Neyse efendim sonuçta pek de derin bir konuya sahip olmadığını düşünerek izledim bu animeyi. Şayet normal kafa yerine organik bişiler alıp içsem daha keyifli ve heyecanlı olacağına inandım. Ama sonunda kardeşler sarılarak ölünce ağlamadım mı? Tabi ki ağladım. Dayanamam kardeş sevgisine bilirsiniz.

La película de Afro Samurai se llevo finalmente el grammy al que estaba nominado, concretamente Shigemi Ikeda encargado de la dirección de arte ha ganado el premio Outstanding Individual Achievement in Animation (Mejor Logro Individual en Animación).

El 12 de septiembre se otorgará dicho galardón en el “Creative Art Awards” en el teatro Nokia de Los Ángeles. Ikeda trabajó en otros animes como Inu Yasha, Gantz, Planetes o Gasaraki entre otros muchos.

Baseado na série animada de mesmo nome, que conta com Samuel L. Jackson (Shaft, Jumper, Pulp Fiction) no time de dubladores, Afro Samurai conta a história de um samurai negro que viu seu pai, o “Número Um”, ser morto quando ainda era criança.

Segundo a história do anime, que se passa em um “Japão Feudal futurista”, aquele que possuir a bandana de “Número Um” reinará na terra como um deus. O pai de Afro, dublado por Samuel L. Jackson, possuía a bandana quando o personagem era criança. Ao ser desafiado pelo “Número Dois”, o pai do garoto foi derrotado. Afro herdou então a bandana de “Número Dois” e agora percorre o mundo atrás do assassino de seu pai, em busca de vingança.

O jogo põe o jogador na pele de Afro, buscando a vingança pela morte de seu pai, em busca da bandana que o fará um deus entre os homens.
