Wprawdzie już poniedziałek, ale po co od razu wpadać w poważne tematy?

W weekend staram się nie spędzać całego dnia przed komputerem i biorę się raczej za “lekkie” zajęcia. Postanowiłem przetestować pod Snow Leopardem gry, których trochę się uzbierało przez lata, a w które (jak sobie obiecuję) “kiedyś pogram”. Temat o tyle mnie interesujący, że nigdzie nie znalazłem informacji, jak chodzą tytuły z PowerPC pod Mac OS 10.6. Wiadomo powszechnie, że wsparcie dla instalacji na PPC wywalono i że wciąż jest dostępna Rosetta, ale co z tego wynika w praktyce?

Spieszę donieść, że jest dobrze – wszystkie uruchomione przeze mnie tytuły działają nie gorzej, a może i lepiej niż pod 10.5. Testowałem klasykę (w mojej opinii), nie żadne nowości, bo i takowych nie posiadam. Lista poniżej:

• Rise of Nations Gold (program aktualizujący do 1.0.1 wywala się pod 10.6)

Oczywiście bezproblemowo działają także tytuły przygotowane już dla Intela, u mnie są to: Age of Mythology, Warcraft III i Zoo Tycoon 2. Jeśli zatem macie sentyment do którejś ze starszych strategii, nie wahajcie się wydać 19,99 zł w Tesco, czy innej Biedronce – obudzone wspomnienia są bezcenne.

PS. Następnym razem napiszę, jak z Warcraft’a III w polskiej wersji PC-only zrobić wersję dla Mac (angielską).

Now I’m in the mood to see “Earth” this afternoon…

This is the second part of a multi- post series detailing PC video games of the past that I still hold in the highest of regard.  In this post, we’ll continue our discussion of great strategy games that started in my first post, “Still Great PC Games (Part 1) .” 

7] Empire Earth (2001)
Expansion(s) : Empire Earth: The Art of Conquest (2002)

Empire Earth was a franchise that took many of the successes of the Age of Empires series, re-wrapped them, re-tooled them, and added 3D to them…

You could now zoom in on the action on the battle field.  You had more customization alternatives to just picking upgrades for your civilization.  You could now advance your historical civilization through thousands of years of history and even into the future.

While the Age of Empires games were the originators of the historical RTS, Empire Earth really does the history books justice by not just focusing on one time period, but on history as a whole.  A player could start out with a meager civilization, that over time would advance into the WWII era Germans or the 21st century United States.

The latitude that players are given in this game really takes an old familiar concept (that we experienced in Age of Empires) and makes it new and extremely exciting again.  This game is a must have as it incorporates most of the great aspects of Age of Empires, but allows the gamer to dabble in much more of the human history timeline than the AOE franchise does.

8] Black & White (2001)

Black & White is without a doubt one of the most innovative computer games of the last 15 years.  The concept of the game is just absolutely amazing.  You play a god that watches over a civilization and through your acts and decisions, you mold the civilization in your image.

Every decision that you make has either a positive or a negative consequence.  “My lord, our people are drowning!!!”  Should you choose to save them via a miracle?  Or should you let them die?  There’s no wrong answer.  The decision is completely up to you. 

This game brings choose-your-own-adventure books to video games with beautiful execution, sound, gameplay, and creativity.  If you haven’t played this game or it’s sequel (Black & White II) you truly are missing out on one of the most inventive computer games of our time.

9] Civilization III (2001)

Realistically, I could list any one of the Civilization series here as they’ve all been great, and they’ve all stuck fairly closely to what initially made them great.

You control a civilization of your choosing and through a turn-based system, you lead them to success (or failure) through military and economic prowess. 

This game is just a lot of fun, and like many other turn based strategy games, you’ll probably find that the sun comes up or goes down without you even noticing.  If you enjoy micromanaging or taking your time with your strategy games (to the sometimes hectic fast paced style of the real time strategy games out there), this game (or any of it’s relatives in the Civilization franchise) is for you.

10] Age of Mythology (2002)
Expansion(s) : The Titans (2003)

Age of Empires meets Gods and Mythology of ancient civilizations.  This is a match made in heaven given the extremely religious nature of many ancient cultures.  When you consider that the Greeks, Romans, Celts, Babylonians, and Egyptians that you played as in other Age of Empires games all had their own (often unique) belief structures, it seemed like only a matter of time before a game was made to integrate these ancient cultures and their gods.

This game does just that. 

You can play as followers of various different religious beliefs from the Egyptian gods of the desert, to the Norse gods of the British Isles, to the Greek gods of the Mediterranean area.  All have their own benefits and eccentricities, and all are extremely fun to play as. 

I’ve always had a love of ancient mythology so I really love this game.  If you follow mythology, studied mythology, or even ever had an interest in mythology, this game is a must own as it’s possibly the best game to date (on any gaming system) that incorporates ancient gods and goddesses.

11] Warcraft III – Reign of Chaos (2002)
Expansion Pack(s) : Frozen Throne (2003)

 Warcraft III is our second Blizzard strategy title on this list (Starcraft was the first), and with good reason… it’s an absolutely amazing game from top to bottom. 

For years, the Warcraft franchise was popular among strategy gamers (who would make the argument that either of the prior titles could be here on this list to represent the franchise), but Warcraft III brought the Warcraft universe to the masses… 

After Starcraft was released by Blizzard, it became extremely apparent just how lacking the previous Warcraft titles were in their overall design and depth.  Warcraft III fixed those issues and has easily become Blizzard’s best real-time strategy game to date.

In addition to everything that makes an RTS great, Warcraft III brought the idea of hero units into a genre which typically suffered from lack of customization of units.  While civilizations as a whole are always extremely customizable in strategy games, the customization of a unit offers a greater amount of depth that is not seen in many games.  It’s because of this added feature, that gamers that often frequent other genres (such as role-playing games), were drawn to Warcraft III.

It’s difficult to believe that this game was released 7 years ago, because it’s still one of the best strategy games available on the PC as far as I’m concerned.  Another smashing effort by one of the better computer game developers: Blizzard.

Two posts down, two to go.  In the next post, I’ll address some of the best Shooter games from an era when NOBODY played shooters on anything but PC.  Then we’ll move on to take a look at some great Role Playing games and Simulations that made their mark on the PC.

When I was growing up, computer games weren’t allowed. My mother abhors anything she considers violent – quite famously, in the early years of her marriage to my father, she was shocked to discover he enjoyed watching The Bill, and felt that this meant he was a violent and angry man. I’m talking about 1984 The Bill, with Reg and Polly and “You’re nicked, my son!” “Fair cop, gov!” Not exactly Oz. But this hatred of violence (mostly because she can’t stand raised voices or conflict) meant that computer games didn’t happen for me.

Even as a teenager, when I had friends with consoles, I didn’t enjoy playing them because invariably, my friends were much more familiar with the game and controls, and always kicked my arse. A steep public learning curve is NOT the Julia way.

I didn’t really get into computer or console games until I moved in with Tom. A month before we moved in together, I bought him a PS2 as a moving-in gift. I figured he’d love it, and that it would work as a DVD player. This was in 2002, when DVD players were often over $300. $400 for a DVD player that als0 played games seemed like a bargain (and it was, we still use that thing 7 years later). I wasn’t really expecting to play games on it, it really was a present for him. One of the games that came with it was Project Eden. I really enjoyed watching Tom play, and he often let me have the controller to do certain things. I found that I was surprisingly good at the puzzle-solving aspect, as well as being able to spot important items. The game can be played as co-operative multiplayer, but we were doing this as co-operative single player, and it was a really enjoyable couple activity for us.

About six months after we’d moved in together, Tom bought me The Sims for Christmas. I’d seen ads for it on TV, and it seemed sort of interesting. I’d dabbled a bit with Civ 3, and I liked that, because of its history-basis, but this seemed like even more fun. So, he bought me The Sims, and I absolutely fell in love with it.

This was also during my recovery from bulimia, and Tom quickly worked out an excellent reward system – if I went a month without purging, he would buy me an expansion pack for The Sims. I LOVE extrinsic rewards, and because I wanted The Sims so badly, and because I couldn’t bear the thought of lying to Tom, it gave me the willpower to break patterns of behaviour I’d had in place since I was 14. I stopped seeing food as the ultimate reward for good behaviour, and started focusing on computer games instead. Say what you will, but I think that’s a lot healthier. Also, it got me totally hooked on computer games, which I think may have been Tom’s cunning plan all along.

I love The Sims because there’s no winning. I grew up as an only child, and so I’m far more focused on narrative-based play than Ludist (or Gamist)-based play (Hey Tom, I payed attention to your thesis). Competition isn’t exactly enjoyable for me, and so if people are playing MarioKart or another party game, I’ll generally just read a book. I like WiiBoxing, but only because I have competed against some EXTREMELY sore losers. But for me, the story is the most important thing. With The Sims (and these days, The Sims 2, and soon to be The Sims 3), I can create my own story. It’s got all the features I loved about Lego when I was small, which was my favourite toy. I can build whatever the damn hell I want, and be creative and have fun, but I also have little people to play dolls with. I can change their clothes, in The Sims, I can build a house to look like whatever I want. I can tell stories. The Sims franchise is a game which I believe encourages imaginative play, and I absolutely adore that. I also really love the potential for user-created content – websites like Mod The Sims 2 have anything you could want. I have downloaded Victorian clothes and furniture, medieval stuff, and an entire set of Harry Potter themed stuff, including uniforms for university-aged Sims (like, for all four house, and for boys and girls, and some with robes on, and some with robes off, and some with shirts untucked etc), and furniture for the different common rooms, and so on. If I want to make a themed neighbourhood of some kind, the stuff will certainly be available. I even have some downloaded furniture that’s better than the stuff in the game, which I think is rad.

As well as The Sims etc, I find I also dig city-building games, like Sim City, and recently, CivCity: Rome. But I like to play these with the cheats on: I want to build a beautiful, functional city, not having to worry about running out of cash or shit like this. I don’t like my gaming to be stressful, I like it to be creative and beautiful. When the little dude pops up to tell me my treasury’s running low, I tend to shout HOW DO YOU EXPECT ME TO WORK UNDER THESE CONDITIONS and go off and have a liedown. This is probably why I’m not allowed to be Prime Minister. (“All children should travel to school on elephants!”)

I’m digging the Total War games pretty hard, and I think I actually like them better than Civ (don’t taze me, Tom), just because everything is themed properly. With Civ, I find I can’t deal with the concept of the Americans v. the Roman Empire, and things like that. So I’ll make a Classical Period game, with the Romans and Greeks and Persians and Celts and Carthaginians etc, or a Modern Europe game, with England and France and Germany and Russia and so on. But I am deeply uncomfortable with crossing the streams, or playing America as an ancient civilisation. It’s just not right, man! So, the Total War games appeal to my sense of order.  The map is correct, (none of this “London is right next to York and right near sources of ivory and dyes” malarky) and I understand where things are. If I want a medieval game, I can have one, and there’s no Americans.

Fucking Americans.

But, I also like how the game dynamics change depending on the era. Gameplay for Medieval II is very different to Empire, and a lot of that is based on the historical period. They’re also games that are more enjoyable if you’re a bit of a history buff, which appeals to my love of entertainment which doesn’t cater to the lowest common denominator. I’m just getting used to Empire, right now, and it makes me want to play Rome: Total War, which I avoided when Tom played it due to my lack of knowledge (at the time) of Ancient History. But now I’ve done a bit of Ancient, and learnt more, and I think I would get a bigger kick out of the game. Awww yeah.

I find that I have varied and extremely specific tastes. I don’t tend to like everything in a genre, I will like one or two examples of that genre. The only real-time strategy games I like are the Age of Empires/Age of Mythology games. I mostly enjoy the campaign, rather than the multiplayer skirmishes, probably one again because of my love of narrative. AoE III and AoM were also very pretty games – I liked building the towns, and deciding where things went.

WoW doesn’t appeal to me, but that’s mostly because I don’t care about the world it’s set in.  If they made an MMORPG set in Regency London, with society intrigues and you could go to Almack’s and have a character and run around and be social and go to balls, I would be all up in that, ALL THE TIME. I would call it World of Ballcraft (hurr). I would also totally play an MMORPG if it were set in Rapture (from Bioshock) before all the shit went down. But I’m not interested in Second Life, because I can get that shit on The Sims, and The Sims is less full of furries and French fascists (I am not even kidding). I only want to run around in a virtual world with other people if the world has a cohesive narrative and aesthetic that I enjoy.

Another game I really enjoyed was Portal. I played Portal before I played TF2, and I adored it. I know people call it an FPS, but I find this to be a useless description. It’s a puzzle-solving game! You don’t shoot other people! It’s first person, and there’s a gun, but FPS, to my mind, conjures up stuff like TF2, or Counterstrike. Portal kind of is a genre all its own. I think I also dislike the idea that a computer game genre is based on some mechanic of gameplay, because for me, the primary appeal of a game is its narrative and setting. But yeah, back to Portal. I kicked arse at it, and I was actually better than Tom, which was sort of a new thing for me. Being good at things is always exciting, and because Portal didn’t really require me to have spent my teen years with my fingers permanantly glued to the WASD keys, I loved it. I’m good at that kind of puzzle-solving, too. But, at the same time, it gave me greater familiarity with FPS-style controls, and this eased my way into TF2.

Now I will talk about Team Fortess 2 for a while.

I freaking love this game. Before this, the only FPSs I’d actually enjoyed were things like Battlefield: 1942 and Battlefield: Vietnam, because I knew the period quite well, I enjoyed the different type of gameplay (I’m gunning down planes! I’m sniping the VC! I’m steering an enormous ship!), and it was fairly low-stress. Counterstrike never appealed to me, because, I guess, modern-era real-world killing is kind of depressing. I don’t like futuristic sci-fi games (I don’t really know why). So, these few historical FPSs were what I played at shootybang nights, until the arrival of TF2.

TF2 is, I think, the perfect game for people who didn’t spend their teen years playing FPSs. The wide range of classes means that you’ll find at least ONE class you’re good at (for me, it’s sniper and pyro), there are different maps, and the visual aesthetics of the game make things extremely obvious. There are huge arrows pointing the way to intel rooms or control points, the other team is very obviously the enemy, marked out by colour, and it’s obvious what each character can do. It’s fun, too – it has lots of injokes and doesn’t take itself seriously, which I think is good for a game where the whole point is to kill people. The flavour text is always hilarious, and you can play a really team-worky character, or a solo one. I think it’s got more flexibility than most other FPSs, and I enjoy being able to play one round, and then going off and doing my own thing. I also like being able to play with friends, without having to have them in my house.

Lastly, some console games. I enjoy some things on the Wii – I really like WiiBoxing and WiiPlay, but mostly to do on my own. I enjoyed Zelda, and I liked the Harry Potter 5 game for the Wii, because the spellcasting was fun, and running around and getting a sense of how the school was laid out was really interestiong for me. But ultimately, I am a Playstation girl. I’m looking forward to earning money and buying Tom a PS3, because I love cooperative RPGs. We’ve played a few really good ones together: the Baldur’s Gate: Dark Alliance games, as well as the X-Men: Legends had really fun cooperative play, and I kind of loved sitting down on the couch next to Tom for a whole day and killing bad guys together. But I also love Rockstar games, like Bully, which Heather already talked about, and I’m looking forward to LA Noire when it comes out.

So, yes. From being someone who never played video games, they’ve become kind of a staple of my entertainment. I enjoy playing them, and talking about gameplay and mechanics with Tom, and all that kind of stuff. I think that it’s also a good time to be a lady who games, because game designers are making games with women in mind (which means that World of Ballcraft is only a few years away, I hope), and so I can find games where “winning” isn’t necessary. Video gaming is, for me, an activity which can be done solely on my own, with Tom, or with groups of my friends, and I kind of love that. I can be running the British Empire in 1700, or I can be Harry Potter at Hogwarts, or I can be a guy who sets people wearing a different coloured shirt on fire. I can play games requiring thinking and strategy and puzzle-solving, or ones that need me to be creative, or ones that require improving my reflexes. Ultimately, I guess, I think that video gaming has broadened my mind and taught me new skills, and any hobby that does that has to be pretty awesome.

Apesar de uma recepção não muito calorosa pelos críticos, Halo Wars vendeu 1 milhão de cópias (vendidas, não encomendadas)  em menos de 3 semanas! Mais de 2,6 milhões de partidas multiplayer foram jogadas, totalizando mais de 118 anos de tempo de jogo, e em média mais de 200 mil pessoas jogam o jogo diariamente… Não sei quanto a vocês, mas pra mim isso é MUITA coisa.

Os antigos empregados do Ensemble Studios, que foi fechado pela Microsoft após o término de Halo Wars, devem estar muito gratificados por estas notícias, eles que, em 14 anos de trabalho, fizeram a série de RTS Age of Empires e o consagrado Age of Mythology.

Bruce Shelley, cofundador do Emsemble Studio, atribuiu parcialmente a queda de seu negócio ao fato de investir em excesso em vários projetos cancelados. Rumores indicam que um desses projetos seria um MMORPG estabelecido no universo de Halo.

Eu me pergunto o porquê de terem cancelado esse projeto… Certamente teria apoio de todos os fãs de Halo, e, cá entre nós, não são poucos não…

Būtībā Age Of Mythology (AoM) ir  Age of Empires (AoE) 2,5 turpinājums. Tāda kā neliela eksperimentāla atkāpe, kā būtu, ja mēs izcilajā AoE2 gameplay`ā ieliktu mazliet maģijas un īpašus paņēmienus? Rezultātā ir sanācis patiešam lielisks netiešs seriāla turpinājums. Lai gan uzstādijums ir krasi atšķirīgs, un ar reālo vēsturi sakara maz, tomēr jebkurš AoE fans praktiski var piekrist, ka AoM ir AoE seriāla tiešs turpinājums, gan izstrādātāju grupas, gan interfeisa, gan gameplay, pat skaņu ziņā. Un būtu tiesīgs vairāk saukties Age Of Empires 3 nekā reālais AoE3 variants, kas tika brutāli pakļauts jauno spēlētāju piesaistīšanas taktikai un vienkārši sabojāts, pārtaisot visu spēles procesu pārlieku Warcraftisku. 

Ensemble ir pelnījuši īpašu apbalvojumu par  šāda tipa darbiem, kas nemēģina par visu varu atspoguļot mainstreama nenozīmīgās vērtības, taču tur godā pieredzējušā spēlētāja vēlmes un vajadzības. AoM ir pakāpi augstāks par AoE3 ne tikai tāpēc vien, ka ir līdzīgāks leģendārajam AoE2 vairāk nekā tā paša seriāla trešā reinkarnācija. 

Šajā rakstā runa būs par AoM + tā vienīgo papildinājumu –  Titans. Lai nebūtu jāveido 2 atsevišķi raksti. Tad, kas AoM padara tik labu.

Pirmām kārtām jau AoE un AoE2 veidošanas formula. Interfeiss bija ideāls, neko tur mainīt nevajadzēja, tas arī netika darīts. Saimniecības/karošanas attiecība tieši tā pat. Pamata saimniecības detaļas, kas palīdzētu tikt pie arvien stiprākas armijas. Armiju tehnika, un dažādu civilizāciju balanss. Tas viss ir pārnests vienkārši izcili.

Spēles interfeiss un darbība ļauj jebkuram iesācējam pieķerties pie spēles un to uzvarēt. Grūtākajos līmeņos, tai pat laikā, noslīpētais AI ļauj jebkuram profesionālim dot iespēju spēlēt izaicinošas spēles grūtākajā līmenī. Lai sakautu pretinieku titan grūtības līmenī, būs nepieciešama pamatīga pieredze un spēja spēlēt ātri.

Spēles pamatā spēlētājam ir jāvāc 4 veidu resursi – barība, koks, zelts un dievu labestība. Lieki teikt, ka spēles sižets un process lielā mērā balstās uz dieviem, to dotajiem bonusiem un mitoloģiskām radībām. Attiecīgi akmeni nomaina lūgšanās. Tautību vietā, šoreiz cilvēki ir iedalīti 3 (ar Titans papildinājumu nāk klāt 4. – atlantieši) lielās grupās – ēģiptieši, grieķi un skandināvi, tad katrā no grupām ir 3 apakšgrupas – dievi, kuri ir katras nācijas aizgādņi, kas apgādā spēlētāju ar īpašām spējām, mītiskajām vienībām un apgreidiem. Tātad sākot spēli, tev jaizvēlas savs galvenais dievs un attiecīgi tev būs pieejami savi specifiski elementi.

Ēkas, to mērķis, galvenie karotaju tipi, tas viss ir saglabājies no AoE sērijas. Klāt, protams, pieliekot pāris mītisko radību ēkas. Galvenais jauninājums šeit ir mītiskās radības – fēniski, akmens golemi, grifi, medūzas un tā tālāk. 

Papildinājums mums piedāvā vēl vienu īpašu vienību – titānu, kas praktiski ir milzīgs staigājošs ‘wonders’ (AoE terminoloģijā – ļoti dārga ēka, kura garantē uzvaru spēlē), kas samīda visu, kas gadās ceļā un lai to apturētu ir nepieciešāms pamatīgs daudzums parasto vienību un laba aizsardzība.  Hola y bienvenidos al primer post Patoky. En este post trataremos el tema: Age of Mythology/The Titans/Gold.

Información:

Gracias a esta propuesta, los jugadores se transportan a un tiempo en que los héroes se enfrentaban a monstruos legendarios y los dioses intervenían en los asuntos de los mortales.
En Age of Mythology: The Titans, vuelve la desaparecida Atlántida. La expansión incluye una nueva campaña single-player y nuevas unidades mitológicas, además de la capacidad de transformar unidades en héroes y de reforzar los increíbles poderes de los Titanes. Así, mientras los hombres de la Atlántida ingresan al campo de batalla, la lucha entre el cielo y la tierra continúa.

Age of Mythology: The Titans suma una cuarta mitología -los Atlantes- a la griega, a la egipcia y a la nórdica. Con sus nuevos escenarios, una innovadora campaña single player (o de jugador único) agregará otro capítulo a la extensa muestra de folclore antiguo propio de este juego.

Los jugadores atlantes podrán invocar el poder de los dioses Titanes (como Atlas y Cronos) en más de una oportunidad, así como convertir a simples humanos en héroes. La expansión incorpora interesantes elementos al juego: 12 poderes divinos, 15 unidades humanas y 10 unidades míticas formidables. Explora los mapas nuevos y expande el “territorio de los dioses”.

Problemas:

Hay una serie de problemas que se presentan al jugar estos juegos, como por ejemplo jugar on line por ESO o por dirección ip/Hamachi. Aquí les enseño como corregir algunos.

• Uno de los problemas que normalmente ocurren es la famosa cartelera de error que nos dice: “no se puede validar tu clave del cd en este momento por favor prueba más tarde”. Bueno este problema surge si el juego no es original, a causa de esto, no podrás jugar online por ESO. Una de las formas de jugar online es por dirección IP, a través de Hamchi. A continuación les explico como acerlo en 10 sencillos pasos.

Lo primero que tienen que hacer es instalar el Hamachi, en caso de que no lo tengan aquí se los dejo:

 1. Si luego de instalar el juego usaron el crack deberán reinstalarlo nuevamente sin colocarle el mismo. (deben desinstalar el Age of Mythology y su expanción y luego instalarlos nuevamente).

2. Bajen estos dos archivos que les servirán a lo largo del proceso.

3. Deben descomprimir el archivo cd_loader en la carpeta en donde se instaló el juego. (es uno de los archivos que descargaron en el paso 2).

4. Luego descompriman y ejecuten el otro archivo que es la actualización del juego AOM-TT.

5. En este paso ejecuten el cd_loader desde la carpeta en donde se instaló el juego.

6. Enciendan el Hamachi.

7. Una vez dentro del juego hagan click en multijugador, en línea, y a continuación en donde dice nombre de usuario y contraseña coloquen cualquier palabra que se les ocurra.

8. Les tiene que salir que la cuenta no existe y….., a continuación hagan click en cancelar y luego click en IP/LAN.

9. Escribes un nombre y pones aceptar.

10. En donde dice IP colocas la IP de tu amigo, pones conectar y listo, a jugar a este fabuloso juego.

Lo del Hamachi lo saqué de la web de mi colega Valsrock.

• Otro problema es que al iniciar el juego te aparezca “error al iniciar”, en este caso puedes probar con la configuración “video a prueba de fallos” o puedes reinstalar el juego(la causa principal de este problema es que la configuración de pantalla sea demasiada alta, en algunas PC´s las configuraciones de pantalla mayores de 800×600 pueden ocasionar estos problemas). Este problema ocurre porque hay un error en el juego, puede ser que un archivio haya dañado el funcionamiento del juego y por eso no puedas jugar. No te olvides de probar usar otro juego, es decir instalarlo a través de otro CD, antes de formatear la máquina.(lea primero este párrafo antes de probar algo más).

Asegúrate de cumplir estas condiciones:

• La tarjeta de vídeo no cumple los requisitos mínimos del sistema de antigüedad de Mythology.
• La tarjeta de vídeo es incompatible con la antigüedad de Mythology.
• La versión de DirectX está dañado o no actualizados.
• Tiene varios adaptadores de vídeo instalados en el equipo.
• El valor de tamaño de pantalla (resolución) es demasiado alto para el adaptador de vídeo.

Para resolver estos problemas, utilice los métodos siguientes en el orden presentado.

a) Comprobar que el adaptador de vídeo y los requisitos mínimos de sistema.

1. Haga clic en inicio , haga clic en Ejecutar , escriba dxdiag en el cuadro Abrir y, a continuación, haga clic en ACEPTAR .
2. En el cuadro de diálogo diagnóstico de DirectX , haga clic en la ficha Mostrar o Mostrar 1 .
3. En el panel de dispositivo, anote el valor que se junto a Approx. Total de memoria y, a continuación, haga clic en Salir .
4. Si el adaptador de vídeo tiene menos de 16 MB de memoria de vídeo, instale memoria de vídeo adicional o instale un adaptador de vídeo con más memoria.

b) Inferior de la configuración del gráfico en el modo a prueba de errores.

Iniciar Mythology en modo a prueba de errores y cambie a continuación, la configuración de tamaño de pantalla en el juego. Para ello, siga estos pasos:

1. Haga clic en inicio y, a continuación, elija Todos los programas .
2. Elija juegos de Microsoft , elija Age of mythology, seleccione Diagnósticos de y, a continuación, haga clic en Age of Mythology vídeo a prueba de errores .
3. Cuando se inicia el juego, haga clic en Opciones en el menú Inicio.
4. En la lista  tamaño de pantalla , haga clic en 640×480x16 y, a continuación, haga clic en ACEPTAR .
5. En el menú Inicio, haga clic en Salir .
6. Iniciar el juego como lo haría normalmente.

c) Actualizar el controlador de vídeo.

Póngase en contacto con el fabricante del adaptador de vídeo para averiguar cómo puede obtener e instalar la versión más reciente del controlador de vídeo correspondiente a su adaptador. También si quieres puedes visitar el sitio siguiente de Web de Microsoft Windows Update para ver si están disponibles actualizaciones de controladores aplicables: (recomendación de Patoky)

Para identificar el nombre y fabricante de su adaptador de vídeo, siga estos pasos:

1. Haga clic en inicio , haga clic en Ejecutar , escriba dxdiag en el cuadro Abrir y, a continuación, haga clic en ACEPTAR .
2. Haga clic en la ficha presentación .
3. En dispositivo , busque nombre y fabricante .
4. Haga clic en Salir .

d) Descarga e instalación DirectX.

Para descargar la versión más reciente de DirectX, visite el siguiente sitio Web de Microsoft:

e) Quitar varios adaptadores.

Tenga en cuenta Este método sólo se aplica a los equipos de Microsoft Windows 98.

Para quitar varios adaptadores, siga estos pasos:

1. Haga clic en inicio , haga clic en Ejecutar , escriba dxdiag – ligero en el cuadro Abrir y, a continuación, haga clic en ACEPTAR .
2. Haga clic en la ficha más ayuda y, a continuación, haga clic en como inactivo .
3. Haga clic en el elemento de la izquierda y, a continuación, haga clic en copia de seguridad .
4. Repita el paso 3 hasta que cada uno de los elementos se quitaron del panel inactivo.
5. Haga clic en Salir .

f) Quitar y reinstalar el juego.

1.  Haga clic en inicio , elija configuración y, a continuación, haga clic en Panel de control .
2. Haga doble clic en Agregar o quitar programas . En Microsoft Windows 98 o Microsoft Windows Millennium Edition, haga clic en la ficha instalar o desinstalar .
3. En la lista de programas instalados, haga doble clic en el juego de Microsoft que desee quitar y, a continuación, haga clic en Desinstalar o cambiar o quitar .
4. Siga las instrucciones que aparecen en pantalla para finalizar el proceso de eliminación.
5. Inserte el CD-ROM del juego en la unidad de CD-ROM o de DVD-ROM.
6. Siga las instrucciones que aparecen en la pantalla para completar el proceso de instalación.

Si la instalación no se inicia automáticamente, siga estos pasos:

1. Haga clic en inicio , haga clic en Ejecutar , tipo drive: \setup.exe en el cuadro Abrir , donde drive es la letra de la unidad de CD-ROM o DVD-ROM.
2. Haga clic en ACEPTAR .
3. Siga las instrucciones que aparecen en la pantalla para completar el proceso de instalación.

Miren si con esto no les funciona, la verdad es para matarse. Lo de la placa de video quizás no les funcione si el Windows no es original.

• Otro error: cuando se juega de a tres o más jugadores, y luego de un rato jugando aparece “error de sincronización” y todo se elimina, se sale de la parida online, etc. Al aparecer este error, después de él, la partida se grabará con el nombre de “Error de Sincronización” y podrá ser cargada. Es posible que se deba a que los efectos gráficos del poder en cuestión consuman muchos recursos de la PC y alguno de tus jugadores en la partida no tenga la capacidad gráfica, ram, etc suficiente como para poder jugar a este juego con plena confianza, la PC al ralentizarse se puede dañar la conexión y la partida.

No se olviden de preguntar cualquier problema sobre el tema. Serán respondidos a la brevedad.

Nueva solución al problema de sincronización…

Fijándome en el Knowledge Base de Microsoft, la recomendación era hacer upgrade a SP2, editar el firewall que viene con el XP y agregar los puertos del titans. Probá hacer eso con tu XP y todo estará solucionado. Patoky

It was previously Halo: Recon. Now, they changed it to ODST. For those of you who dont know what ODST stands for, it’s Orbital Drop Shock Trooper. This guys looks something like this. Pretty cool, but it seems that most Halo fans aren’t that bothered about the name change. They just can’t wait to get their hands on the game.

I dont really care about this, but Halo Wars would make my day. I have not been playing Strategy games that much eversince Age Of Mythology.

bueno pues les dejo una recomendación de un juego que muchos ya conocen que como el título lo dice se llama AGE OF MYTHOLOGY que es un juego de estrategia donde tu controlas a un pueblo, hay distintos pueblos o civilizaciones la egipcia, la griega, la nordica y si tienes la expansion tienes tambien la atlante.

A la vez cada civilización tiene 3 dioses:

de los griegos tienes a Zeus, Hades y Poseidon

 de los egipcios tienes a Set, Isis y Ra

de los nordicos tienes a Thor, Loki y Odin

De los atlantes tienes a Cronos, Gea y Urano

cada Dios tiene poderes unicos y le otorga a su civilizacion distintos poderes o capacidades como Thor que sus enanos pueden recoger cualquier recurso de manera mas rapida que los enanos de odin y loki, o Isis que sus monumentos  prohiben la itulizacion de los poderes divinos en un territorio determinado alrededor del monumento, etc

Lo primero que debes de saber antes de jugar es saber equilibrar la economia y ejercito, ya que si descuidas a uno podrías perder muy rapido.

Para empezar tienes que avanzar de edad para tener acceso a mas cosas como nuevos soldados y nuevas tecnologias. tambien tienes que ser muy estrategico con lo que haces ya que un movimiento en flaso podrias perder territorio, recursos o soldados. una recomendación al pelear es siempre ser flexible a la estrategia del otro ya que si empiezas perdiendo todavia tienes oportunidad de ganar, otra recomendación es atacar puntos estrategicos no atacar por atacar, esto solo para debilitar al oponente.

El juego tienes como cualquier otro cheats o trucos que son palabras que te dan soldados, recursos entre otras cosas, auqneu esto para mi le quita la diversion a veces al juego. Algunos de los trucos son

Age of Mythology transporta a los jugadores a un tiempo en el que los héroes luchaban con monstruos legendarios y los dioses intervenían en los asuntos de los mortales.

En Age of Mythology, los jugadores hacen la guerra utilizando ejércitos y diplomacia, van avanzando a través de las distintas épocas, mejoran el funcionamiento de la economía y el ejército a través del comercio y la acumulación de recursos.   În România, şi dacă vrei să iei jocuri PC originale, tot nu ai şanse: prin magazine, inclusiv unele cu pretenţii, se vând fara probleme softuri piratate, la preţ de originale, şi o gramadă de fraieri  clienţi care nu ştiu cu ce se manancă marfa  iau ţeapă după ţeapă.

 Exemplu concret absolut uluitor, în două capitole:

 Capitolul I: un coleg care are un puşti abia dat la şcoală vrea să-i facă junelui educaţie prin PC gaming şi, ştiind că mă descurc binişor prin www-ul românesc, mă roagă să-l ajut să cumpere un Age of Mythology: vorba aia, mai vede copilul un minotaur, o Gorgona Meduza, un leu din Nemeea şamd. Evident, fiind un cadou pentru un puşti aşa de mic, pachetul “Gold Edition” de două CD-uri cu manuale şamd de la Microsoft ar fi ideal. Începe căutarea şi, surpriză, pachetul “Gold Edition” apare la PC Garage ca fiind pe stoc, în schimbul a numai 39.99 ron. Cum poza nu prea seamana, iar pretul este al naibii de bun, sub cel din strainatate, sun si verific: fata de la PC Garage confirmă că produsul e pe stoc şi că pe eticheta de la furnizor scrie clar “Age of Mythology – Gold Edition”.

 Boon, batem drumul pana la faţa locului (PC Garage e pe o străduţă pierdută prin spatele Căii Dudeşti), pentru a constata ca nici vorbă de un produs Microsoft original: în locul ditamai cutiei cu sticker de autenticitate etc ni se oferă o copertă de DVD dubioasă, pe care scrie Xplosiv. La o privire mai atentă, reiese că este un expansion pack Titans, care contine si jocul initial. Nici vorba de Gold Edition.

 Enervat la culme de faptul că fusesem prostit în faţă la telefon, mă încrunt la fata de la ghişeu, care se scuză, pierită, arătând eticheta lipită de furnizor, despre care îmi povestise la telefon: pe ea scrie mare “Gold Edition”.  Neavând ce face, şi ştiind deja cu ce se mănâncă jocurile Xplosiv, îl anunţ pe coleg că e ţeapă şi plecăm.

 Capitolul II: Cu aproximativ un an în urmă, doi prieteni de-ai mei, care încingeau de mult jocul Age of Mythology şi vroiau să-l poată juca şi online, pe serverul oficial, se hotărăsc să intre în sfârşit în legalitate şi să cumpere softul original. La fel, căutând prin magazinele online, dau pe oferta cu jocul furnizat de  ”Xplosiv”: preţ bun, marfa pe stoc, băieţii marcă banul, rad versiunile piratate, instalează softul “original” şi dă-i bătaie. Dă-i pe dracu, că unul se loghează pe server, iar celuilalt îi dă mesaj că CD-key-ul e deja folosit. Disperat, oamenii sună la guru, în speţă subsemnatul: întreb dacă au luat cumva jocul desigilat, mi se spune că nici vorbă. Mă rog, amicul care nu reuşea să se logheze merge peste furnizor (o oarecare firma Monosit Conimpex SRL) şi, după mult scandal, i se schimbă cutia cu alta. O verifica daca e sigilata, se duce acasa, dezinstaleaza, reinstaleaza CD-Key-ul din noua cutie, isi suna amicul sa se logheze şi, când dă să intre pe server, pac: “the CD-key is already in use”. Cu spume la gura, ma suna din nou: il sfatuiesc sa mai incerce peste cateva ore, măcar să-şi dea seama daca au sute de oameni acelasi key. Imi urmează sfatul şi, după câteva ore, reuşeşte să se logheze. În culmea fericirii, îşi suna amicul să intre pe server, dar, ghinion: acum primeşte el mesajul de eroare! Stupefiaţi, cei doi compară cd-key urile şi constată că sunt identice!

 Evident, s-au dus peste ăia de la Monosit Conimpex, într-un apartament de pe lângă Unirii, burduşit cu jocuri, iar patronul, un puşti şmecheraş, le-a râs în nas, zicând că a verificat la furnizorul lui din Marea Britanie şi că softul e original. Şi mai evident, două copii originale nu puteau veni cu acelaşi cd-key. Mai mult, au mai cerut o copie, au desfăcut-o şi pe aia, şi, la fel de evident, cd-key-ul era acelaşi. Oamenii mă sună din nou şi îi trimit la OPC şi BSA (fiind vorba de produs Microsoft mergea la fix) . Unul dintre ei şi-a băgat instantaneu picioarele, zicând că pentru câteva zeci de lei nu-şi bate capul, iar celălalt a încercat să meargă pe calea legală: a intrat pe site la OPC, a completat formularul, a atasat fotografii dupa toate documentele. Evident, cand a primit raspuns ca online nu se pune, şi că ar trebui să meargă la sediu cu toate actele, s-a lăsat păgubaş. Neexistând reclamaţie înregistrată la OPC n-am avut nici eu cum să abordez subiectul în ziar.

 Inutil să vă spun că, de-a lungul timpului, am văzut ţeapa cu Xplosiv în tot felul de magazine, inclusiv la Diverta! Am aflat şi că AoM nu e nici pe departe singurul joc de la ei în cazul căruia un key bun e “împărţit” la sute de copii.  De data asta însă, având în vedere că au început să pună şi etichete false pe produse, şi că m-au făcut să pierd timpul degeaba, îi voi da direct pe mâna Direcţiei de Combatere a Criminalităţii Informatice din IGP.
