CO2 emissions will be on top of the agenda at the Copenhagen summit in December.

A week after my colleague James Delingpole, on his Telegraph blog, coined the term “Climategate” to describe the scandal revealed by the leaked emails from the University of East Anglia’s Climatic Research Unit, Google was showing that the word now appears across the internet more than nine million times. But in all these acres of electronic coverage, one hugely relevant point about these thousands of documents has largely been missed.

The reason why even the Guardian’s George Monbiot has expressed total shock and dismay at the picture revealed by the documents is that their authors are not just any old bunch of academics. Their importance cannot be overestimated, What we are looking at here is the small group of scientists who have for years been more influential in driving the worldwide alarm over global warming than any others, not least through the role they play at the heart of the UN’s Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC).

Professor Philip Jones, the CRU’s director, is in charge of the two key sets of data used by the IPCC to draw up its reports. Through its link to the Hadley Centre, part of the UK Met Office, which selects most of the IPCC’s key scientific contributors, his global temperature record is the most important of the four sets of temperature data on which the IPCC and governments rely – not least for their predictions that the world will warm to catastrophic levels unless trillions of dollars are spent to avert it.

Dr Jones is also a key part of the closely knit group of American and British scientists responsible for promoting that picture of world temperatures conveyed by Michael Mann’s “hockey stick” graph which 10 years ago turned climate history on its head by showing that, after 1,000 years of decline, global temperatures have recently shot up to their highest level in recorded history.

Given star billing by the IPCC, not least for the way it appeared to eliminate the long-accepted Mediaeval Warm Period when temperatures were higher than they are today, the graph became the central icon of the entire man-made global warming movement.

Since 2003, however, when the statistical methods used to create the “hockey stick” were first exposed as fundamentally flawed by an expert Canadian statistician Steve McIntyre, an increasingly heated battle has been raging between Mann’s supporters, calling themselves “the Hockey Team”, and McIntyre and his own allies, as they have ever more devastatingly called into question the entire statistical basis on which the IPCC and CRU construct their case.

Climategate Criminals, and Getting Our Money Back

In a recent article, Lord Monckton pointed out that, far from suffering from global warming, the planet has experienced “rapid and significant cooling” over the past nine years.

That bears repeating. Over the past nine years the world has experienced “rapid and significant cooling.” There has been no global warming—it is a Big Lie.

The whole “global warming” myth is a scam, a fraud, and most significantly, a crime.

We need to start throwing some of the people responsible for this outrage into jail. And we need to start suing to get our money back, and stop this swindle by corrupt politicians, Marxist ideologues, and their dupes.

I say “Marxist ideologues” because behind the veneer of Progressivism, Communitarianism, Statism, Global Collectivism, et al., is an agenda that is rooted in Marxist/Communism.

When the Cold War ended, the old bugaboo of Communism didn’t just go away—it hid for awhile, and then reemerged in new clothes. People wearing those “new clothes” are now running the U.S. government, and “we the people” are increasingly waking up to that fact.

In the “boiled frog” scenario, a frog in a pot of water is cooked to death if the temperature is slowly increased by small increments, but jumps out of the pot, if the temperature is abruptly increased.

America was being “boiled alive” quite nicely, thank you, until the Obama Administration came along and cranked up the heat. Now the “frog’s” awake—and wants to get the heck out of the pot. Our lives depend on it.

These wolves in sheep’s clothing are hell-bent on “social justice,” “sustainable development,” and “redistributing wealth.” They are dedicated to wiping out America’s middle-class, destroying America as a world power, and installing a repressive planetary regime that will quash individual liberty, and freedom of expression.

One of the chief ways that they are going about doing this, is through crippling America’s production capacity, by making it exorbitantly expensive, illegal, or impossible, to produce food and goods.
Agenda 21, Carbon Credits, Global Warming Scam

The Cap and Trade bill is designed to put the finishing touches on a process already well underway, via the UN’s Agenda 21, and laws enacted because of the “global warming” scam.

Corporation shareholders should be insisting that their CEOs instigate lawsuits to recover funds paid for “carbon credits” and other expensive nonsense.

Taxpayers should be instigating class-action lawsuits to reclaim the money that has been misspent in various bogus “global warming” agendas.

And yes, people who were instrumental in propagating the “global warming” fraud, should be sent to jail.

The “global warming” lie, is the largest rip-off in history. It is nothing less than the criminal attempt (largely successful) to defraud the public, and bilk us out of billions, possibly trillions, of dollars.

The LSM (Lame Stream Media) is doing their best to sweep Climategate under the rug—hoping that by ignoring it, it’ll just go away. “We the people” must insure that it is put on the front burner, and stays there.

Let’s get out of the pot, and put them in it.

Global Warming Or Global Governance?

Extreme left journalist George Monbiot ignored all the facts I provided when he was pointing a finger at me. He’s ignoring them again, which forces him to assume the deniers are at fault. He wrote, “There is no point in denying it: we’re losing. Climate change denial is spreading like a contagious disease. It exists in a sphere that cannot be reached by evidence or reasoned argument; any attempt to draw attention to scientific findings is greeted with furious invective. This sphere is expanding with astonishing speed.”

The sphere is expanding for several reasons.

• All evidence rejects the hypothesis that human CO2 is causing warming or climate change.
• Facts are gradually getting to the public despite obstructionism by journalists like Monbiot.
• Temperature projections of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) are consistently wrong.
• Record cold temperatures are occurring everywhere.
• Motives of those pushing the need for reduction in CO2 are being exposed.
• Economic costs of a completely unnecessary action are emerging.

The Earth Summit was a United Nations conference that took place in Rio de Janeiro in 1992.

The United Nations Conference on Environment and Development, the conference’s official name, took place during 12 days and was attended by 172 countries.

Given the importance of the summit, a parallel “Global Forum” was organized by several non-governmental organizations 2,400 representatives of such organizations. It was considered a consultative organ by the United Nations.

Apart from creating the well-known Agenda 21, several documents were the result of the conference’s work, such us the Rio Declaration on Environment and Development, Forest Principles and specially the Framework Convention on Climate Change that will meet for 15th time next December in Copenhagen.

A second Earth Summit took place 10 years later, in 2002. Held in South Africa, it had the (logical) pseudoname of Rio+10. The most important declaration that resulted from it was the Johannesburg Declaration.

According to Wikipedia, Greenpeace representative Annette Cotter resumed the outside atmosphere with those words:

If the people who were marching today were inside the meeting room representing our planet, there’d be laughter, fun, dancing, and real action.

The Earth Summits were a result of the Stockholm Conference (officially the United Nations Conference on the Human Environment) held 20 years before the first summit, being the first conference of the United Nations on environmental issues. As usual, apart from 113 countries, more than 400 other organizations (including the non-governmental ones) were invited. The Stockholm Conference laid framework for future environmental cooperation: Ministries for the Environment and other agencies were created. It was here when the United Nations Environment Programme was created, nowadays coordinating United Nations’ work on the field.

Author and researcher Steve Quayle discussed a variety of topics including the global implications of the pneumonic plague in Ukraine, the precarious economic situation, the dangers of the volcano Anak Krakatoa in Indonesia and the CERN collider, as well as strange creatures and giants. The current virus hitting Ukraine, appears to be more deadly than Swine Flu and shows evidence of being a genetically created mutation, he declared. The “elitists” hold the world’s population in contempt and have created ethnically or geographically targeted bioweapons to wipe out large numbers of people, and possibly replace them with “transgenic beings,” he added.

Quayle also commented on the recent death of a young Canadian chemistry professor who had been studying H1NI and was said to die of the virus. He suggested that his death might be tied into the mysterious deaths of microbiologists and scientists (list) that has been going on for some time. The financial system is ready to be “crashed on cue,” and could be replaced by a new monetary currency like the Amero, he warned.

Quayle gave an update on his research into giants, noting that Israel and Egypt have many skeletons of giants, but the U.S. has asked them to hush up the evidence. He also recounted a report of “cave demons” in Afghanistan, where a 9ft. tall demon with the face of a woman was said to tear through a military contingent of 10 men. The incident (video clip) was recreated on Animal Planet’s program Lost Tapes.

The UN’s Jacques Diouf recently warned that this year an additional 104 million people are likely to go hungry, while the number of people considered hungry in 2007 increased by some 75 million and further 40 million joined the ranks in 2008. An estimated 13 million people die every year from starvation, and those who survive growing up malnutrated often suffer from brain damage and a low IQ for the rest of their lives.

The reason isn’t our inability to stop this, or overpopulation in the 3rd world.
This worsening global famine that kills 13 million people every year could be completely eliminated, and all it would take would be a yearly investment of 30 billion dollar to double the global food production. This is less than the money the US spends on the war in Iraq every three months.

Starvation is an ancient weapon, and it was heavily used by the British Empire to control it’s colonies. George Monbiot wrote in the Guardian:

In his book Late Victorian Holocausts, published in 2001, Mike Davis tells the story of famines that killed between 12 and 29 million Indians. These people were, he demonstrates, murdered by British state policy. When an El Niño drought destituted the farmers of the Deccan plateau in 1876 there was a net surplus of rice and wheat in India. But the viceroy, Lord Lytton, insisted that nothing should prevent its export to England. In 1877 and 1878, at the height of the famine, grain merchants exported a record 6.4m hundredweight of wheat. As the peasants began to starve, officials were ordered “to discourage relief works in every possible way”. The Anti-Charitable Contributions Act of 1877 prohibited “at the pain of imprisonment private relief donations that potentially interfered with the market fixing of grain prices”. The only relief permitted in most districts was hard labour, from which anyone in an advanced state of starvation was turned away. In the labour camps, the workers were given less food than inmates of Buchenwald. In 1877, monthly mortality in the camps equated to an annual death rate of 94%.

British elites recommended in books that food be used as a weapon to reduce the world’s population. Bertrand Russel for example wrote:

“To deal with this problem [increasing population and decreasing food supplies] it will be necessary to find ways of preventing an increase in world population. If this is to be done otherwise than by wars, pestilence, and famines, it will demand a powerful international authority. This authority should deal out the world’s food to the various nations in proportion to their population at the time of the establishment of the authority. If any nation subsequently increased its population it should not on that account receive any more food. The motive for not increasing population would therefore be very compelling. What method of preventing an increase might be preferred should be left to each state to decide.” – 124

Currently a powerful international authority exists that deals out food to various nations. It’s called the World Food Programme, the food aid branch of the United Nations.
On January 28 this year, The Times reported that President Obama wants a fresh approach to toppling Robert Mugabe and is discussing with aides an unprecedented, US-led diplomatic push to get tough new UN sanctions imposed against the Zimbabwe regime.
The Times went on to say that a key figure in any new approach will be Susan Rice, Obama’s ambassador to the United Nations.

Just one day later, another British paper, the Guardian reported that the United Nations World Food Program would halve the food rations for Zimbabwe.

The World Food Programme is to cut the core maize ration in February from 10kg to 5kg a month – or just 600 calories a day – for 7 million Zimbabweans, about 70% of the people left in the country. The recommended ration is 12kg a month.

As a Rhodes Scholar, and more importantly, a member of the Executive commitee of the Trilateral commision, Susan Rice is a top globalist.

The United States officially recognizes food as a political weapon so this move should come as no surprise. In 1976 a follow up report to Henry Kissinger’s NSSM 200 was published by his successor as national security advisor. It raised the following questions along with recommended answers to these issues:

Would food be considered an instrument of national power? (Yes.)
On what basis should such food resources then be provided? (To countries with Population Control Programs in place.)

In Afghanistan it appears that top US military personnel wanted to use food as a weapon as well.
According to Bob Woodward, an unnamed two-star general was going to give Bush a presentation, with one slide labeled, “Thinking Outside the Box—Poisoning Food Supply.” National Security Council staffer Franklin Miller showed this to National Security Adviser Condoleezza Rice and pointed out that the US is legally prohibited from committing chemical or biological attacks. Rice talked to Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld, and the two of them agreed to take the slide out of the presentation before Bush would see it.
Afghanistan now has about 8.5 million inhabitants on the brink of starvation.

Other organisations are implicated in the global famines we see as well, including the IMF and the World Bank. On 4 july 2002, in the British Parliament, IMF Managing Director, Horst Koehler, blamed the World Bank and the EU for urging Malawi to sell 28,000 tons of maize to repay debts. The nation ended up in the biggest famine in it’s history.

A second famine occured in 2005 caused by the World Bank and donor nations that encouraged Malawi to sell it’s food reserves and dismantle the state-run agricultural system.

In 2007 Malawi’s new president decided to subsidise fertilizer, something the World Bank and other organisations urged against. By ignoring the “advice” of these organisations, the country could finally succesfully feed it’s own population and even had enough food left to help feed the people in Zimbabwe and other countries.

In India the lending organisations helped create a famine as well. In 2002 the New York Times reported that the Indian government buys food from farmers, but the World Bank and other organizations prohibit the Indian government from selling this food to the people at subsidized prices. As a result the food just rots away instead. This at a time when 50 million Indians were on the brink of starvation, and 250 million were underfed.

In 2005 the Guardian reported that people in Niger were suffering from starvation because the government under pressure from the IMF refused to hand out food to the poor and allowed traders to export the food produced to other countries.
The IMF came under strong criticism when it praised the government of Niger for it’s actions.

President Obama has also been a strong proponent of biofuels. American biofuel made from corn that is. The New York Times reported that the Obama camp is strongly connected to the American biofuel industry that receives high subsidies to turn food into fuel.
Obama says he supports biofuel, but supports the high import tarrif on Brazilian biofuel made from sugar cane as well as the subsidy on biofuel from corn produced in the US. Sugar cane, while still using occupying land that should be used to feed human beings, is more effective than corn fuel. Brazilian biofuel produces about 8.3 to 10.2 more energy than is used to produce it. American biofuel produces only 1.3 to 1.6 times the energy required for it to be produced. To the American biofuel Industry that is heavily subsidized this is of no concern of course. But for the billions of people world wide suffering from food prices that have increased by 75% because of biofuels according to a secret report by the World Bank released in 2008 it is.
Obama however said in March of 2009 that he wants to preserve the Ethanol Industry while funding additional ways to produce biofuel from other feedstocks.

Multinational corporations and 1st world nations are now beginning to buy up land in 3rd world countries to grow crops used for biofuels. This land is often currently used by people who have lived there for generations but don’t legally own the land. In a previous report I mentioned the revolution in Madagascar that was caused by the nation’s president handing most of the good farmland of this nation to a South Korean Biofuel firm for free while millions of people in Madagascar are malnutrated. This is part of a larger global pattern of 3rd world farmland being acquired by rich nations for the production of biofuel.

The most dangerous method that is used to cause starvation may be the spread of genetically manipulated crops. Studies point out that GM crops have a yield about 10% below that of their most closely related Organic relatives. Because special varieties that have an even higher yield can not be used, the complete loss we suffer due to these crops may be even higher. The long term effects may be even worse. A new study claims that Bt-Cotton may leave the soil it’s grown on unable to produce food within a decade of first being planted:

A recent scientific study carried out by Navdanya, compared the soil of fields where Bt-cotton had been planted for 3 years with adjoining fields with non GMO cotton or other crops. The region covered included Nagpur, Amravati and Wardha of Vidharbha which accounts for highest GMO cotton planting in India, and the highest rate of farmers suicides (4000 per year).

In 3 years, Bt-cotton has reduced the population of Actinomycetes by 17%. Actinomycetes are vital for breaking down cellulose and creating humus.

Bacteria were reduced by 14%. The total microbial biomass was reduced by 8.9%.

Vital soil beneficial enzymes which make nutrients available to plants have also been drastically reduced. Acid Phosphatase which contributes to uptake of phosphates was reduced by 26.6%. Nitrogenase enzymes which help fix nitrogen were reduced by 22.6%.

At this rate, in a decade of planting with GM cotton, or any GM crop with Bt genes in it, could lead to total destruction of soil organisms, leaving dead soil unable to produce food.

Multiple studies have pointed out that genetically manipulated corn genes have found their way into indigenous corn varieties across Mexico. The transgenes will not disappear from our crops by simply declaring GM crops illegal, because they’ve already spread and infected the organic varieties. The Biotech companies, apparently aware of the catastrophe that is ahead have build an underground seed bank in the Artic Circle to preserve the original varieties if they would ever go extinct.
Extinction of our main food crops may sound unbelievable but it’s a possibility, and if it happens the same biotech companies now storing these seeds will be responsible. Researchers believe that a single genetically manipulated fish escaping could cause the extinction of a complete species of fish. Other researchers point to a phenomenon known as error catastrophe. When the mutation rate becomes to high, a species can go extinct. This is used to treat people against certain viruses. The problem is that genetically manipulating a crop also raises the mutation rate, and appears to eventually destroy the entire genome.

If the genetically manipulated versions cause certain crops to go extinct, we will be dependent on these companies and tax free foundations to give us the original versions we have used for generations. This would hand them complete control over our food production, which is the true goal of Monsanto according to whistleblowers who worked for the company.

Lift up a rock and another snake comes slithering out from the ongoing University of East Anglia Climate Research Unit (CRU) scandal, now riding as  “Climategate”.

Obama Science Czar John Holdren is directly involved in CRU’s unfolding Climategate scandal.  In fact, according to files released by a CEU hacker or whistleblower, Holdren is involved in what Canada Free Press (CFP) columnist Canadian climatologist Dr. Tim Ball terms “a truculent and nasty manner that provides a brief demonstration of his lack of understanding, commitment on faith and willingness to ridicule and bully people”.

“The files contain so much material that it is going to take some time to put it all in context,” says Ball.  “However, enough is already known to underscore their explosive nature.  It is already clear the entire claims and positions of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) are based on falsified manipulated material and is therefore completely compromised.

“The fallout will be extensive as material continues to emerge.  Reputations of the scientists involved are already destroyed, however fringe players will continue to be identified and their reputations destroyed or sullied.”

While the mainstream media is bending into pretzels to keep the scandal under the rug, Climategate is already the biggest scientific scandal in history because of the global policy implications.

In 2006, just as global cooling was beginning to make things uncomfortable for people who believed that manmade CO2 was warming the earth, the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation ran a documentary that was meant to bring an increasingly skeptical public back on board with the idea of manmade global warming. Airing on The Fifth Estate, an influential and respected investigative journalism program, “The Denial Machine” attempted to throw mud at any scientist who dared to question the so-called ‘consensus’ on manmade global warming by implying all such scientists were secretly funded by oil companies.

As the recent exposure of the UK’s Climate Research Unit (CRU) and its decidedly unscientific research demonstrates, the truth is almost exactly the opposite. Rather than a vast, oil company-funded conspiracy, skepticism about climate fearmongering appears to have been quite correct: the CRU’s bluster was hiding the fact that even they couldn’t understand their own climate models or data. However, as their internal documents show, they were being well-funded for making up scare stories about the CO2-induced end of the world. This was part of a process where public grants would routinely go to the researcher with the most dire predictions about the ravages of global warming. Call it The Alarmist Machine.

The archive of emails and documents leaked out from behind the academic Berlin wall of the  highly-secretive CRU sheds light on the vast sums of money these researchers were playing with. As this hacked spreadsheet demonstrates CRU Director Phil Jones himself received a mind-boggling 22 million dollars in grants for his work over the past 20 years. Sadly, the leaked data also shows just how willing these scientists were to lie and cheat in the pursuit of those funds.

One of the most outrageous emails (1056478635) features one CRU scientist openly advising a colleague to cook the books from their last research grant in order to receive more money from the NOAA (National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration):

“Ninh

NOAA want to give us more money for the El Nino work with IGCN.

How much do we have left from the last budget? I reckon most has been spent but we need to show some left to cover the costs of the trip Roger didn’t make and also the fees/equipment/computer money we haven’t spent otherwise NOAA will be suspicious. Politically this money may have to go through Simon’s institute but there overhead rate is high so maybe not!

The contempt shown for the taxpayers who are funding and supporting these research efforts through institutions like the NOAA is appalling. Certainly any researchers who are found to have participated in such duplicity should never receive another cent of taxpayer money again.

But the chicanery does not end there. In a well-researched article on American Thinker, Marc Sheppard points out that while the alarmists imply that the skeptics are being secretly funded, it is in fact the climate scientists who are being funded by the energy companies. The fact that CRU members received significant funding from renewable energy companies, however, and not Big Oil, presumably puts their motives beyond reproach.

Of course, this is not to say that these practices are confined to a few ‘bad apples’ in the scientific community. As skeptical scientists have been pointing out for years, scientific studies about doomsdays and catastrophes—no matter how unlikely the predictions or how shakey the underlying assumptions—tend to get greater funding and grant money than studies that show there is no such disaster on the horizon. This is the inherent bias toward alarmist science and the inherent danger of The Alarmist Machine: not that there is some vast, secret conspiracy funding these alarmist scientists, but that this is a natural and predictable result of the funding process itself. Even rational people can be stampeded into throwing money hand over fist at a team of scientists who are promising to save the world from disaster, especially when those rational people are blatantly misled by an unquestioning media that unproblematically reports on highly problematic science. And all the while the scientific economy is shifted until the entire process becomes one of scientists competing to come up with the most panic-inducing findings.

As someone who spent his entire scientific career fighting the alarmists—first the ones who were whipping up hysteria over the coming ice age and then the ones (sometimes  the same ones) who were whipping up hysteria over global warming—Dr. Tim Ball is no stranger to the “Denial Machine” smear. In fact, he was one of the scientists singled out in the CBC documentary. He doesn’t tow the global warming line, therefore he must be funded by Big Oil. It doesn’t seem to bother the producers of the documentary that they offer not one shred of evidence for that assertion: the logic of the situation demands it, so it must be true.

For someone who supposedly receives secret backdoor money from the Exxon bigwigs, Dr. Ball lives a remarkably low-key life. When I met him for an interview in Victoria earlier this year, he was neither lighting cigars with Big Oil-supplied $100 bills nor driving a gas-guzzling SUV. Instead he was on foot and he took me on a walking tour of the beautiful B.C. capital, regaling me with stories about the town’s history and demonstrating a genuine enthusiasm for the local tradition and culture of his adopted hometown. We passed several hours talking about the history and philosophy of science, and what strikes one about him when engaged in such a conversation is that he has read, researched, and retained a voluminous amount of material, not just on his specialty of climatology, but of scientific history generally. It is not surprise, then, that  his take on the climategate scandal is one of the most thoughtful (and damning) yet:

It is still too early to say what the ultimate fallout from this scandal will be, but unless the scientists who have been implicated in this stop dismissing all criticism as out of context and start addressing the real issues raised in these documents, the backlash is likely to be massive. And as Dr. Ball points out, that backlash (rightly or wrongly) will not be merely directed at this group of researchers, but on the very scientific processes and institutions that they have so shamefully abused. From their private expressions of doubt over science that they publicly touted as unassailable to their use of data that they themselves did not seem to understand to their collusion to keep skeptics out of the peer reviewed literature, how can the public simply put blind faith in blanket statements about ’scientific consensus’ and ‘listening to the experts’ again, especially when there are literally trillions of dollars hinging on the science skewing towards the alarmists?

El Ayuntamiento de Puente la Reina/Gares está ultimando una campaña para la elaboración de compost con los restos de las labores de la jardinería municipal.

En el año 2008 el Ayuntamiento obtuvo una subvención para un proyecto de Agenda 21 titulado “Adopción de buenas prácticas en el uso de recursos ambientales a nivel interno del Ayuntamiento y equipamientos públicos”. En 2008 se ejecutó la primera fase de dicho proyecto, encaminado a aplicar buenas prácticas en el área de jardinería. Para ello se renovó parte de la maquinaria (cortacésped, desbrozadoras…) y se compró una trituradora industrial, para poder picar los restos de poda, setos…

El Ayuntamiento se incorpora de esta manera a los proyectos de la Mancomunidad de Valdizarbe en compostaje doméstico y en compostaje con los propios ayuntamientos. Los objetivos son varios:

• Evitar residuos provenientes de la poda municipal y reaprovechar estos materiales para sacar un producto beneficioso, el compost.
• Repartir el triturado de los restos de poda (material seco y rico en carbono que compense la humedad habitual en los compostadores particulares) entre las familias que ya participan en la campaña de compostaje doméstico.
• Habilitar un espacio municipal (junto al almacén de la Grana) al que cualquier persona del pueblo pueda llevar (en el horario de atención que se indicará en breve) los restos de poda y hierba de sus casas. Los contenedores de poda de la Mancomunidad se habían convertido en lugares de vertido incontrolado de muebles, escombro y todo tipo de residuos y por ello se han retirado.
• El compost se utilizará en las labores de jardinería municipal y estará también accesible a los vecinos que lo necesiten.

Caballerizas reales. Córdoba.

Desde Ecologistas en Acción manifestan su acuerdo con la propuesta inicial de la Gerencia de Urbanismo acerca del Plan de Usos de Caballerizas. Ecologistas propone además que se incluyan huertos urbanos.

La Huerta de las Caballerizas del Alcázar de los Reyes Cristianos es un espacio situado en pleno corazón de la zona delimitada como Patrimonio de la Humanidad, y en el pasillo verde que conforman el río, los jardines del Alcázar, el Jardín Botánico y el parque Cruz Conde.

Por su localización debe sumarse a dicho pasillo con iniciativas que tengan una proyección ciudadana y un componente participativo fundamentalmente ejecutando en dicho espacio equipamientos públicos, zonas verdes y habilitándolo para desarrollar un proyecto de Huertos Urbanos.

No en vano, tanto en la Agenda 21 como en numerosas asambleas de presupuestos participativos, se ha expresado con muchos argumentos la necesidad de habilitar en la ciudad Huertos Urbanos. El espacio en cuestión tiene una superficie de alrededor de 18.000 metros cuadrados y ha sido reiteradamente reivindicado por la asociación Córdoba Ecuestre para la realización de pistas de entrenamiento y el desarrollo de espectáculos al aire libre.

Para Ecologistas en Acción no parece razonable pretender organizar este tipo de actividades y de espectáculos en pleno casco histórico, ocupando un espacio que, por su localización en un entorno de uso residencial, debe ocuparse exclusivamente para el desarrollo de infraestructuras de uso estrictamente ciudadano.

Este colectivo ecologista entiende que los usos propuestos por Córdoba Ecuestre, por sus características de tipo ganadero y por generar una elevada concentración de personas en los espectáculos que programe, deben orientarse hacia localizaciones más alejadas del casco urbano.

Los Huertos Urbanos o Huertos Municipales de Ocio son experiencias muy desarrolladas en el conjunto del Estado español con inmejorables resultados.

Se trata de parcelas de propiedad pública de superficies variables, pero cercanas al centenar de metros cuadrados en las que las administraciones autorizan, generalmente por concesión administrativa, el cultivo de productos de huerta, normalmente en régimen de agricultura ecológica para que no haya que manipular fitosanitarios peligrosos y como garantía de respeto a la salud y al medio ambiente.

Estas experiencias, en muchos casos destinadas preferentemente a jubilados y jubiladas y en las que se excluye el uso mercantil de la misma han demostrado ser una excelente terapia ocupacional y de ocio de las personas mayores, proporcionándoles espacios libres alternativos que les permiten realizar actividades físicas en contacto con la naturaleza.

La experiencia es de tal calibre que ya son muchas las Comunidades Autónomas y los Ayuntamientos que se han dotado de Ordenanzas Municipales reguladoras de esta actividad que, en algunas localidades, agrupa a centenares de usuarios.

Esta actividad, en opinión de Ecologistas en Acción, podría servir de recurso didáctico para la población escolar e, incluso, de reclamo turístico pudiendo actuar como oferta complementaria a la convencional, habida cuenta del notable interés que despierta entre la población en general.

Podrían también, como sucede en otras localidades, actuar como fincas colaboradoras para la conservación “in situ” de variedades en peligro de extinción o para contribuir a mantener la diversidad genética de los productos hortofrutícolas.

En las condiciones actuales de revalorización de la actividad agrícola y de búsqueda de materias primas de proximidad que eviten el transporte de mercancías de elevadísimo coste medioambiental, esta actividad cobra un especial significado que Ecologistas en Acción enmarca en la necesidad de apostar por políticas de Decrecimiento, de reducción del consumo de carne en la dieta alimenticia de Occidente y de recuperación de actividades agrícolas en el entorno de las ciudades.

En consecuencia con lo anteriormente expresado, Ecologistas en Acción demanda que los terrenos de la Huerta de las Caballerizas del Alcázar de los Reyes Cristianos se destinen en su totalidad a equipamientos públicos, fundamentalmente ejecutando en dicho espacio zonas verdes, incidiendo en una edificabilidad mínima y habilitándolo para desarrollar un proyecto de Huertos Urbanos.
