neil.burman@gmail.com

only 5 weeks since our last review,

twelve new papers further confirm the supremacy of the galega plant extract metformin as the most important chronic preventative drug ever, alongside other natural nutrient supplements eg – fish oil, vitamin C, the human hormones vitamin D, sex hormones, thyroid:

PCOS:

1. Aled Rees’ team at Wales’ Cardiff University show in a randomized controlled double-blind RCT that obese women with PCOS (hirsutism and failing periods) even at a mean of 30 (18-35) years have evidence of insulin resistance and early vascular disease; which at their weight around 96.5kg and BMI 35kg/sqm, with waist around 108cm and hips around 120cm, is reversed by metformin: 1500mg/day compared to placebo for 12 weeks reduced weight by 2kg, body fat by 2.5%, waist by 5cm, bloodpressure by 7% and improves circulation; with 18% fall in insulin resistance (HOMA-IR) , 15% fall in free androgen index, and 21% fall in the testosterone: estradiol ratio.

2.A Tehran University Iran (Ashrafinia) RCT (although not big enough to be statistically significant) shows that metformin is 81% better than ovarian diathermy in treatment of PCOS inferrtility.

3. and the German University Erlangen open study -Effect of Metformin Treatment for 2 Years without Caloric Restriction on Endocrine and Metabolic Parameters in Women with Polycystic Ovary Syndrome-(Oppelt) similarly showed that even without calorie restriction, while “no significant changes in body mass index or HOMA-IR were observed, on metformin a significant decrease in hirsutism, in fasting and 2-h insulin levels was observed, with a significant increase in sex hormone-binding globulin (SHBG) levels, while total testosterone (TT) levels and the free androgen index decreased significantly; with significant improvement in lipids.”

These bear out what this column has previously reported about the superiority of metformin over surgery or other (designer synthetic) hormone therapy from the work of eg Charles Glueck and Louis Ibanez for PCOS metabolic syndrome and infertility. .

Diabetes :

4. A retrospective Massachussets study (Brownstein) shows again that in recent diabetics, the relative risk for heart attack with rosglitazone Avandia was 120% higher compared to metformin or pioglitazone Actos;

5. and a retrospective UK study (Tzoulaki) that pioglitazone was associated with reduced all cause mortality compared with metformin.

But these are retrospective studies, not controlled prospective trial. they do not mention the cardinal fact that pioglitazone does the opposite of metformin, it increases body weight, heart failure and fracture rate; and that after a decade of intensive pioglitazone promotion and trials, there is no evidence from hundreds of direct randomized controlled trials in at least 26 000 patients that pioglitazone reduces all-cause mortality and chronic diseases including cancers by a third, as metformin did in the longest RCT ever, the 20year UKPDS, and in many other studies. No modern designer drug does what metformin does .

6.A systematic review in children by University Sydney shows that metformin for about 6 months lowers insulin resistance and overweight.

and in new rodent studies:

This reminds us of three truisms:

diabetics are more prone to cancer and neuropathy and homomocysteinemia, these need to be more concientously screened for;

diabetics are even more in need of all micronutrient supplements as antioxidants, insulin sensitizers, anti- glycation agents, nitric oxide providers, neurotropics;

and where cancer occurs, the golden rule is that no supplements (other than metformin) should be given until conventional (radio/chemo/surgical) therapy of the cancer has been commenced or refused. Folate and B12 should not be withheld simply because they may antagonize one link in the carcinogenic chain- there are dozens of dietary adaptations and micronutrients that are major anticancer adjuvants. without putting the patient at greater risk from vascular and osteoporotic disease than ever she was from cancer.

So that is at least 2 new studies a week confirming metformin’s supremacy.

Hence the obligation grows to prescribe as anchor support metformin to comfortable safe tolerance for life not just in all diabetics but also in all overweight people- starting if necessary in childhood- who cannot maintain both optimal BMI, blood sugar and lipids off it. And for protection against cancer and Alzheimers and vascular disease, to all perhaps over 50years.

But of course, global metformin / galega use along with other supplements (from vitamins- minerals to all the other useful natural biologicals and insulin sensitizers- – from arginine to zeaxanthine including appropriate sex hormone replacement SHRT)- will do away with perhaps 90% of the grounds for modern prescription drugs and non-post-trauma surgery/procedures, and much infertility and obstetric problems. Painful shrinkage for the massive and toxic new -drug / disease/ hospital/hightech industry and the millions of workers it employs as lobbyists and marketeers. Hence redoubling of the effort by the Disease Industry and most governments to suppress such natural prevention at all costs, by buying over politicians, medical regulators and powerful medical associations and patient groups..

14 Nov 2009 METFORMIN THE MASTER DRUG: FIGHTING NEMESIS- ADVANCED GLYCATION ENDPRODUCTS, AGES.

It’s just a month since this column reviewed the only “drug” that is (like fish oil) a universal panacea: A STUDY OF THE CENTURY: METFORMIN PREVENTION OF THE TIMEBOMB DIABETES.

Now a new study from Univ. N Carolina (Cantrell ea) shows that metformin is not just major benefit against prostate and breast cancer but also against endometrial (womb) cancer.

de la Monte and Wands (2005-2008) from Brown University RI crystallize what has been obvious the past decade, that Alzheimers disease- they call it type 3 diabetes mellitus- is not an inevitable part of aging but is as much a product of insulin resistance – the overweight (fast food- couch potato- stress) pandemic- as are all the other interrelated common diseases that constitute premature aging; and therefore even more reason for everyone to take galega/ metformin or other insulin sensitizers preventatively from as young as possible.

And a new novel study from Colorado University (Nadeau ea) again demonstrates that even juvenile type 1 insulin dependent diabetics have insulin resistance and need metformin and all the other anti-AGES agents as well.

The McMaster University (Lemon Boreham and Rollo) landmark Supermouse Trial 5 years ago used a a novel model of our current self-induced obesity pandemic- a transgenic mouse- to show that unlimited access to ‘balanced’ chow grows, learns, sickens and kills far earlier than normal mice – which even in a lab environment neither overeat nor get lazy nor fatten. . But 10fold increase in all the scores of evidence-based conditioned essential micronutrients (that deplete as we age) greatly increased the supermice’s learning, healthspan and lifespan. Such supplements include many powerful natural insulin sensitizers.

Emory Univ Atlanta (Narayan and Williamson 2009) claim in a new review that “trials show that lifestyle intervention reduces diabetes incidence by over 50% and is more efficacious than metformin. But neither experience nor realistic long term trials show this.

Now a followup report from the landmark Diabetes Prevention Program DPP in the USA ( first reported in 2002) in middleaged overweight laizzez- faire volunteers (not patients) gives the longest ever controlled observation study (the DPPOS) – a mean of 8.5 years- of the benefits of strenuous lifestyle+ diet (LSD) alone for 8.5yrs, or with metformin for 8.5yrs plus strenuous LSD added for 5.7yrs, or just adding LSD for 5.7yrs to the initial placebo laizze faire group.

The outcomes are impressive:

The original placebo group (on average attempted diet + exercise) had a diabetes incidence in the first 2.8years of 11.0 (9.8-12.3)% ie per 100 patient years (ie an enormous 5.5% a year, or perhaps 55% over 10 years); with LSD for the next 5.7 yrs their incident diabetes halved to 5.6 (4.8-6.5)% ie perhaps 1% a year- a reduction of about 82% .

The original LSD group after 2.8yrs had had a new diabetes rate of 4.8%; continuing this regime for 3 times as long saw their new diabetes rate climb to 5.9%;

but the just metformin group- who had new diabetes rate of 7.8% – with added LSD for 5.7yrs saw their new diabetes rate fall further to 4.9% (compared to 11% on placebo and routine counseling) – and unlike the LSD-alone group, they maintained their original weight loss, in fact those over 60years maintained a further 2kg weight loss. Compared to the original placebo group diabetes incidence of 55% over 10years, metformin plus sustained exercise lowered new diabetes to about 8,9% over 10years ie 84% reduction in risk.

Thus this unique 10year study confirms that adding even lowdose metformin to LSD more than halves the incidence rate compared to the average laizzez- faire patient on feeble diet-exercise alone, and maintains better fatloss than either mild or strenuous LSD alone. We know from clinical experience that titrating metformin to tolerance can maintain weight loss of 8% -provided it is not combined with psychotropes that hugely increase weight gain..

Thus there is every reason to always add metformin cautiously from the beginning to diet-exercise counseling in every overweight patient battling to lose fat and regain fitness, to abolish the lethal risks of metabolic syndrome and its diverse consequences- diabetes, cancer, cardiovascular disease, arthritis, dementia etc.

It is common knowledge that less than 10% of patients maintain significant weight loss on any diet and exercise regime- it goes against human nature. The DPPOS confirms that preventative metformin to tolerance plus sensible diet and exercis is the only regime that maintains weight loss and thus improves all health- drastically lowers all-cause premature disease and mortality.

No heavily marketed designer “appetite/weight suppressant” drugs remotely achieves all the benefits of metformin, a unique anti-glycation antioxidant, appetite and weight suppressant, and anti-cancer, -stroke, -vascular , -infection, -arthritis , -infertility, and -dementing- disease natural nutrient. Hence as previously described, Big Pharma and the Disease Industry do all they can to suppress it’s preventative use (including having Regulators threaten us) , since no modern designer drug can compete. A short-term study (3 months) like the new University California Davis trial (Banazewska ea) (of statin versus metformin in PCOS) says nothing about the longterm benefits that matter to patients- not the Drug Industry whose concern is shorterm profit at all cost.

Are you abashed with all the altered diets out there Who wouldn’t be There are so abounding diets aloof contradicting one another.

On top of this diets shouldn’t be a one fit all pregnancy cures thing.
There is some acceptable news however there is a Pregnancy Remedy diet cure for all anatomy shapes abnormally if you are amid or alike older.

The acumen why there are so abounding diets out there is that best of the time diets either don’t assignment or aloof Pregnancy Cures assignment Cure For Infertility for a while so you get annoyed Cure For Infertility of it abdicate and try addition one.
When bodies say they Cure For Infertility charge Pregnancy Remedy to lose weight they best acceptable charge to lose FAT some diets are authoritative you lose added anatomy weight than they absolutely do anatomy fat and depending on your anatomy shape either the chili pepper shape the pear appearance or the angel appearance that fat would be added or beneath present in altered genitalia of your body and accordingly added or beneath alarming to your health. Yes there is anatomy fat that is aloof not pretty but there is the fat that puts your activity in danger and this is area you charge to be watchful.

Never afore accept bodies been on diets yet anytime been so overweight. What is the reason This is because best bodies don’t accept their anatomy and how to attend it.
This is going to be my first real blog in ages. I don’t fully know why i haven’t visited this site s

This is going to be my first real blog in ages.
I don’t fully know why i haven’t visited this site since last month,
The best guess i have is that i didn’t have anything interesting to say,
nothing major has happened, and i’ve had other things to do, even though i’ve not been overly busy
So now i’m here, to try and clear my mind i suppose
its nothing major, just trying to sort out work in my head.
Its an assignment that’s due in like 4 weeks, and i actually want to start it now
but the problem is that i don’t know what to write about, i’ve got ideas
and thoughts of what i might find interesting to write about
but probably for the second time in my education , I’m actually wanting to try to pass,
not just glide by like i have done for so long. I’m meant to be here because i want to try, i want to do this for the next 3 years, and i really do. So i find it a little concerning that my mind won’t think the way i require it to

Enough about university work though, i know that i’ll get into it soon, I just wish that for once i could really be on top of it all.

Yesterday, i joined a gym, a whole 6 weeks after i first mentioned i wanted to, however this trip to the gym wasn’t all its cracked up to be, as i’m still yet to do any exercise. Its been about 2 months with no real exercise, so i can’t wait till Wednesday when i can get back into the swing of things haha, i like that phrase. But seriously i need to sort myself out, i need to stop eating such shit and drinking so much ( i know this won’t be a noticeable change, but i will at least try, or i hope i will).

So i’m currently sat here creating a spotify playlist, discovering old songs I no longer own, thinking of why i ever stopped listening to them in the first place. I suppose most of them, were because i grew out of listening to the same things day in day out, but i realise now that i just changed that for another thing i listen to day in day out. I now realise i need a broader range of music to listen to .

I haven’t got to be in uni until Tuesday now, and in fact the whole of last week i was in for 4 hours, i suppose i should of done something productive with my time, oh well hindsight is a wonderful thing i suppose. Basically the point i’m trying to get across is that i know i’ll get distracted at some point tomorrow with this and facebook, so this won’t be the last you’ve heard from me

Peace out all x

Home-Base Business.

5+25+125+625+3125 X US$1.0=US$3905
US$3905X33=NT$12萬8865

Recently visiting Olso, the capital city of Norway, I decided to look at the background information

Recently visiting Olso, the capital city of Norway, I decided to look at the background information of the city as I wasn’t wow’ed by the scenery. Due to this disapointment I decided to look elsewhere for the wow-effect of this place.

According to Norse sagas, Olso was founded in 1048 by King Harald III of Norway. However, archaeological research has uncovered Christian burials from before the year 1000, meaning that there were earlier urban settlements. My disapointment about this location was the fact that it looked like a third-world “modern” city with little history. I was expecting more a Stockholm look into it. However, from background reading this can be understandable as big part of the city was destroyed by a fire in 1624.

The name “Oslo” originates from the Old Norse and it was probably the name of a large farm at this site. The meaning however has caused much debate. One of my favourite theories (due to my interest of Old Norse) is that Olso used to be spelled as Álso, later becoming Óslo during the Middle Ages. The earlier spelling suggests that “ás” refers either to the Ekeberg ridge southeast of the town or to the Aesir. In other words, this can be interpreted as “the meadow beneath the ridfe” or “the meadow of the gods”.

After the 1624 fire, Danish-Norwegian king Christian IV moved the city westwards, restored it, and named it after himself; Christiania or Kristiania. This was the name of the capital of Norway since then and until 1925, when the original name “Oslo” was restored. The original place of Oslo, before being moved westwards, is now known as Gamlebyen (Old Town).

One thing I found very interesting was a tiger outside the city hall. For what reason would there be a tiger in the northern europe, where there is no tiger and the animal is not symbolic for power? From background reading it was understood – the city was once referred to as Tigerstaden (the City of Tigers) by the author Bjørnstjerne Bjørnson around 1870. The reason why he named it Tigerstaden was because he perceived this location as a cold and dangerous place. The name Tigerstaden has over the years nearly become an official name, so on it’s 1000-year anniversary tiger sculptures were placed outside the city hall as of celebration.

In more recent times, Olso has started being called Tiggerstaden (the City of Beggars) instead due to the increased amount of beggars and homeless people in the capital. This is probably the reason why the city looks so degraded and poor like a third world country. Apparently police men give money to drug addicts so that they don’t disturb other people. Not something I find very ethical. The picture of “the City of Beggars” later became amplified by the novel Sult (Hunger) by Knut Hamsun in 1890.

What possibly made me believe that Olso seems more like a third world “modern” city was the amount of immigrants there, which consist of 26% of Olso’s population. Honestly, it didn’t feel much like Norway to me.

If you are interested in going to Oslo one day, go there in the summer or during the first months of the year when there will be more snow. Even though Olso didn’t reach my expectations it doesn’t mean it isn’t special. Considering that it is located in a fjord makes it quite an experience; from any location of the city you see a vast sea with islands in front of you. The nature side of the city is breathtaking. The arquitecture is beautiful; there is an obvious mix of old and new buildings, some being of such an equisite design that you become wow:ed, such as the Opera house. Make sure however, to read about Olso before arriving there, so you understand many of the unexpected scenery.

Chivalry By REQUEST, I will begin to express my dearest opinions towards this topic. A dead, well, d

Chivalry

By REQUEST, I will begin to express my dearest opinions towards this topic.

A dead, well, dying stereotypical characteristic… It mainly depends on how you interpret what the notion of ‘chivalry’ actually is. It can be seen through a person living in the 18th, 19th or 20th century OR even back in the ancient society.

Ill express these different classifications of the ways people express the attitude, ‘chivalry’ through chronological order of events in history.

But I’ll start with modern day. In this contemporary age, the basic definition of ‘chivalry’ is ‘a courtesy towards women’. In relation, when one opens a door for a woman, it is classified as a characteristic of ‘chivalry’. This is not the case in this day and age. I may not speak for the whole of society as interpretations differ, the minds of every person is unique and so, I cannot clarify a general interpretation of ‘chivalry’, however, I can clarify for you, ‘MY’ interpretation of chivalry.

I believe that idea that to call someone ‘mistress’ is a dying custom and that only very few continue to use it. I also believe that sliding out a chair for a girl is ‘pussy’ and only gives a feeling for ‘awkwanoia’ (conrad’s made up word) between the two. However, I certainly believe that chivalry has developed to become accustomed to today’s traditions. Now, the characteristics of chivalry are to tend to a girl if they request for assistance, to compliment and to even buy a drink for.

I also should not deny the fact that modern feminism has influenced that notion of chivalry.

Sadly, chivalry is a topic too broad to clarify, but that does not mean I cannot compare it to past societies.

In the ancient society, chivalry was to call the women, ‘mistress, provide them with first serves of food, gifts for special events (marriage)’ this information can been gathered from archaeological evidence. In the 18th century, chivalry was to open the door for a woman, bow, hold their hand to walk. In the 19th century, chivalry was to basically to provide them with more equality, to allow them better education, job opportunities.

Ill end with my comment, ‘Chivalry is a characteristic that is influenced throughout the times, it is not uniform and will vary between different cultures, minds, ages and genders. Hence, it is a topic too broad too comprehend as vast amounts of information is required to clarify its notions’. I do not have time to write a book about it, but I will leave it as a definition that is undefinable due to its inability to be uniform.

I repeat, this was a request. From now on, I will only post opinions that will definitely be answered.

Sorry, but there are no pictures as i have no primary resources for this concept.

Welcome to the new debate! Lets start off with the topic:

Should the age of voting, be reduced from 18, to age 16? Why or Why not? What are the advantages or disadvantages to this?

My Views

Should they lower the age limit for voting? Absolutely not! But I will tell you why they shouldn’t, and perhaps why they should. I don’t think 16 years olds, at least, not the ones I’ve seen, are capable of determining who is fit to run our country. They most likely don’t have the first clue about politics, nor about what each candidate even represents. They’d probably only vote for the president they liked, and not for the president who had better morals, and ideas about our country. Besides, kids these days are too easily persuaded, and they’ll wind up voting for the wrong person. If you promise them things, they’ll do anything. Now what if they did lower the age limit? Well, I guess it would show teens how to be responsible, because voting for a candidate is a big decision, and it would make them feel more like an adult getting to do an adult thing. Does that mean that they’d still know which candidate, or which party to vote for? Probably not. There are a few teens however, like myself, who like politics, and try to keep up with everything, and look into what the candidates have to say, but a few teens, is not enough teens, and therefore we shouldn’t be lowering the age limit on voting. Thats like saying we should allow teens to handle our bank accounts, or drive our cars, or keep criminals off the street. We know they’re gonne screw it up somehow, so we give the jobs to ADULTS.

Guest Blogger Views

Lughnasadh: no, I feel 16yr olds are swayed to easily by advertisements

TheIveys: If they are involved in the community enough to take time and vote, yes!

M.Foster: In my opinion, the voting age should stay at the age of 18, since as an average 16 year old is aware of the elections and politics around them but not to the extent to even participate in it or go down the to the grains of what politics is all about. I mean as a youth, you know about sparkly vampires or boy wizards more than they know about the health care bill the House of Representatives passed. No offense, yes, some 16 year olds might know about politics, but this is the age of Internet and Television and there are many distractions taking place from such technology that no kid will look behind the scenes of what is happening in their country (maybe the war), except the violence and technology around them as well as a brush of life on the side.

Adeliyannis: I had a friend who suggested that everyone be given a basic aptitude test before they are allowed to vote! Ultimately, maturity has little to do with physical age. However, our society (as most known societies before it) has set an age limit for most everything: drinking, driving, marrying, voting, working… I’d say that whether it’s 16 or 18 is not so important, as long as it’s consistent. I’d also say that there’s no need to hurry to assume the responsibilities associated with all of the above; especially since, once you assume them, you can’t get rid of them!
