I’m probably AGF’s biggest fan.

When her website poemproducer.com announced she was releasing a new album in November I went frantic looking for an advance copy.

I found something else instead. Somewhere out there, someone had gotten hold of some master demos from her first album, Head Slash Bauch.

While listening I noticed a vocal piece I hadn’t heard before. I emailed her asking what it was. It turns out she never released it.

In return for my odd discovery she sent me an advance copy of the new album and I, like any good fan, wrote a review:

Einzelkämpfer

Typically when a solo artist reaches their 19th release, they start producing predictably. They polish themselves through experience and are no longer interesting; they’ve simply gotten too comfortable. Not so with Antye Greie. After several recent collaborations, most notably with Ellen Allien and Vladislav Delay (whom she lives with on an island off the coast of Finland), discomfort seems to be her driving force. Her new work, “Einzelkaempfer” (literally “Lone Warrior”) is her nineteenth release to be sure; her sixth under the moniker AGF, but nowhere on the album is a sense of bore or ease. Beats are, as she puts it, “missed for the most part”. This time around her aural crafting turns ambient. Pricks of sound rattle either side of your headphones. Eastern lutes and strings slide through tracks, punctured by the artist’s unmistakable voice. Beat!! Run!!! Beat!! Anarchy!!! When rhythm does occur, she strives for something she calls “non linear beat music”, basically unaligned beats that scatter without warning. “What is the fascination with timing?” she asks. The answer is safety, something she’s not currently willing to offer.

“They are solitary creatures for most of their lifespan, without significant social contacts” – the penultimate track is based on a scientific paper about deep sea organisms but could more directly refer to Greie’s seeming desire to isolate herself. Perhaps in the future, introspection and oneness with nature will drive her to create more sound like this, void of chaos and saturated in feeling. “Her Beauty Kills Me” is a beautiful tribute, most likely dedicated to her daughter. Static drops on either side like rain as a dense beat rattles and echoes over a moody cello. Microscopic beats seep in and the strings crescendo, solidifying AGF’s passions. The entire album broods without boiling over, calms itself without being predictable. The further Greie devotes herself to researching sound, the more surprising the outcome, and this album is living proof.

This track fell from the digital sky today. It does not even matter when today is. Its my track and me singing, but i do not remember when I made it and for what. It contains me singing Russian as i remember it, from my childhood, i used to sing this song with the guitar, i always loved that song but lost trace and words of it, maybe somebody knows, please write me.

my ALIAS project is completed. for over a year i’ve toiled,crafting nine tracks,eight of them short and a longer final piece which incorporated my close friends and I uttering my definition for the word ALIAS: “an alias, that which is an alternate title for a person or object. another name that denotes a new purpose for a familiar thing. this new title may be the result of decisions or pressures either internal or external, and typically affects the associations or properties of that person or object at least somewhat dramatically. this new title can be a symbol of change or can simply occur because the old name has been issued to a replacement object.”

Agenzia storica. Una fine repentina dentro una crisi prevedibile. In digitale una foto vale meno: niente credits, archivi online in saldo, immagini gratis dal web dove la stampa non investe. Il mercato non può più legarsi solo all’editoria. Meglio realtà piccole o contenuti multimediali

Non è bastata l’autorevolezza della prima della classe. Si pensava che pur nella difficoltà generali dei media, una realtà così solidamente radicata nel mercato del fotogiornalismo e dell’editoria come Grazia Neri potesse reggere meglio delle piccole realtà che sembravano più esposte. E invece per la celebre agenzia è tempo di chiudere. A nulla sono serviti i classici tagli di ridimensionamento.
Era nata nel 1966 e soltanto un anno dopo, la fotografa milanese ricevette da Hubert Henrotte la proposta di rappresentare in Italia la neonata agenzia Gamma. Un’occasione sfruttata appieno, fino a diventare un punto di riferimento per agenzie e fotografi di tutto il mondo. La liquidazione annunciata dal figlio Michele Neri, da un anno a capo dell’azienda. Dichiarazioni dolenti e impietose: «Sono stato costretto perché le perdite avevano superato il capitale sociale. I giornali hanno tagliato drasticamente la spesa per le fotografie, hanno imposto una riduzione dei prezzi del 25-30%, un numero crescente di immagini utilizzate sono gratuite o scaricate da siti a costi molto bassi. Rispetto al mercato attuale probabilmente la nostra struttura è troppo grande. Per qualche anno abbiamo creduto che le testate online potessero sostituire il fatturato perso con la carta. Ma non è stato così: anche i siti cercano di spendere il meno possibile».

Nel caso di Grazia Neri la crisi del settore ha spinto una situazione prevedibile verso una repentina caduta, e questo aumenta il dispiacere tra i fotografi dell’agenzia e i colleghi. Per il giovane leccese Andrea Frazzetta è «un brutto segno per tutti, epocale, se ne sono accorti anche i concorrenti. Era l’agenzia italiana per eccellenza, e Grazia una grandissima talent scout».

Per Alberto Giuliani, classe 1975, da 14 anni con Grazia Neri, di recente scelto da Saviano per raccontare il suo nuovo libro a Massenzio, «la notizia della liquidazione non lascia molto spazio a un possibile prosieguo. In tempo di crisi pubblicitaria, una struttura cresciuta floridamente neglianni 80/90 era un colosso troppo grande e costoso per essere rivolto solo al business dell’editoria. Non si è potuto tagliare altrimenti per via di vincoli sindacali».

Come si sopravvive alla crisi? «Chi ha differenziato il proprio business o piccole strutture come l’americana Seven, diretta concorrente di Magnum con soli 10 fotografi, e tre dipendenti. E non le decine di Grazia Neri. Sono molte le agenzie in questa situazione». E il web che voce ha in capitolo? «Siamo in una fase di transizione.Tutti lo indicano come il futuro della rinascita ma nessuno ci investe. I gruppi editoriali non danno budget. Così ci si deve reinventare con contenuti multimediali. Non a caso il Washington Post sponsorizza Mediastorm».

Il fotogiornalismo amatoriale dei lettori vi danneggia? «Penalizza il giornalismo in generale. Ma non confondiamolo con la morte di Saddam ripresa da una telecamera o le foto di Abu Ghraib. È l’approfondimento che manca. Il problema sta a monte, i giornali non hanno un’idea». Quali sono i fronti aperti con i media? «Quella per i credits è una lotta antichissima. Non si capisce il perchè, forse disattenzione rispetto al valore della fotografia. Altrove foto e contenuti sono equiparati. Per le agenzie fotografiche l’Italia è il terzo mercato al mondo. Ora si crea un buco che verrà colmato in parte dai diretti concorrenti, ma la perdita è anche culturale, emotiva».

Getty e Corbis hanno cambiato il mercato? «Forse glielo hanno lasciato cambiare. Chi come Grazia Neri aveva dalla sua la forza autoriale non ha investito su quello, semmai si è adattata. Sono dei colossi, ma non mi stupirei se domani sparissero, nel senso che non ho chiaro quanto realmente grande sia il loro business. Sicuramente sono influenti sulle immagini di stock e archivio, facendo offerte e abbassando i prezzi. Fino a 5/6 anni fa, 250 euro, oggi con loro la si paga 20. Una volta si diceva che l’archivio è la pensione dei fotografi. Oggi no. Aveva ragione poco tempo fa il direttore della Magnum che in una lettera si rivolgeva ai suoi: “Facciamoci venire un’idea. Se fino ad oggi il Time di turno non ha preso le immagini da Flickr è solo perché non si ha la certezza che quella foto sia stata scattata in quel posto e a quell’ora”. Ma oggi con il sistema Gps sulle foto, queste garanzie ci sono».

Anche chi scattava prima dei tempi del Gps, come Mimmo Chianura, fotografo della Agf, autore del celebre scatto di Benigni che solleva Berlinguer, non si stupisce della chiusura di Grazia Neri: «La crisi dell’agenzia è una delle conseguenze più evidenti del mercato. Grazia Neri era grande e solida, ma l’editoria resta in crisi e i servizi fotografici non si vendono. Sento voci di colleghi preoccupati perché le difficoltà dell’agenzia già si fanno sentire sulla propria agenda. I giornali chiudono, i mensili che fecero la gloria del fotoreportage, come Epoca e Life non ci sono più. La foto viene destinata ai siti, e quindi la sua vita vale di meno».

Lavorare in piccolo è una salvezza? «Sono un libero professionista che si appoggia alla Agf. Apparteneva alla moglie di Scalfari, siamo piccoli, 5 fotografi e pochi dipendenti. In riunione ce lo siamo detti: più sei grande oggi più è un azzardo. Noi siamo strangolati dai crediti perché ci pagano a sei mesi. L’uso del digitale ci ha agevolato, possiamo mandare subito una foto ovunque in tutto il mondo, ci permette di scavalcare limiti tecnici che sembravano invalicabili. Ma per contro, la foto vale meno. In un pomeriggio la foto di una conferenza diventa vecchia, una volta poteva durare anche giorni. Il web ha pure comportato un ribasso dei prezzi. Non c’è più un giusto prezzo».

C’è anche chi ne approfitta gratis: «È diventato facile anche rubarle. Passiamo il tempo a navigare per controllare i furti. E basta un click per far sparire le prove. Una volta mentre eravamo al telefono per segnalare la cosa, hanno tolto al volo la foto incriminata. E poi ci sono i giornali, che sollecitano i lettori a mandare le loro foto amatoriali, e le agenzie spregiudicate. Corbis sembra un supermercato con gli sconti 3×2i. Sono stato a casa di Mandela, Gandhi e Khomeini, oggi già mi stuferei. Ma per noi fotografi di cronaca politica la verità è “aridatece er puzzone: tutti ci siamo lamentati della fine dei partiti, ma al tempo dell’elezione di De Mita, tornai con 83 rullini, c’erano 500 delegati da fotografare. Oggi ai congressi c’è solo il leader e basta».

C’est en effet le titre “Owner of a lonely heart” qui a été choisi pour illustrer le spot pour le rapprochement entre AGF et Allianz.

La nouvelle secoue mais ne surprend pas. Après la fin des options d’Helios chez Desjardins, les réductions de protection chez Sunlife et la fermeture pure et simple de tout le département de placement d’AXA, au tour de Manuvie de sabrer dans ses produits d’investissement. Le 2 octobre 2009, la Financière Manuvie mettra la hache dans TOUS ses fonds distincts. Fini les garanties généreuses. L’assureur a évalué ses risques liés aux 20 milliards sous gestion de toutes ses familles de fonds de placement garantis et ne peut plus continuer à en offrir autant. Les clients détenteurs de contrats émis avant le 2 octobre 2009 seront rassurés d’entendre qu’ils bénéficieront de toutes les anciennes protections. Cependant, les options de placements seront modifiés pour restreindre certains fonds jugés maintenant trop volatils, donc coûteux à couvrir.

Ainsi, les FPG, FPG Perspective, CPLM, PPLM, CAP Maritime, FPG Sélect et RevenuPLUS ne seront plus offerts à de nouvelles souscriptions. En remplacement, dès le 5 octobre, les investisseurs pourront utiliser les FPG Sélect de nouvelle génération avec 3 options. Une appelée PlacementPlus, qui vise l’accumulation du capital. Une deuxième; RevenuPlus 2 qui propose un décaissement de 5% à vie à partir de 65 ans seulement et enfin, SuccessionPlus qui protège le capital pour les héritiers.

Le message à retenir: aucune de ces options ne protégera complètement le capital investi du vivant. La protection minimale légale, impose cependant une garantie de 75% du principal à l’échéance du contrat, soit au 100 ème anniversaire du titulaire. Autant ne plus parler de protection. Ainsi, les garanties à 75 ou 100% au terme de 10 ans, comme c’était la tradition, feront maintenant partie des souvenirs.

Pourquoi laissez tomber une telle protection du capital? Parce que le risque existe et la crise de 2008-2009 a laissé ses marques. La base de données Paltrak de Morningstar démontre d’ailleurs toute l’utilité d’une protection sur une décennie. Plus de 500 fonds et indices de marché sur un univers qui en compte 2200, affichent un rendement annualisé négatif pour la période couvrant août 1999 à août 2009. De ceux-ci, on compte même de grandes vedettes d’autrefois comme les LondonLife, RBC et AGF Action Américaines. Aucune compagnie de fonds n’échappe au carnage. Suggestion pour la TD, le Fonds TD Valeurs Sûres américaines, n’est plus tout à fait sûr. 1000$ investi il y a 10 ans ne vaut plus que 590$.  La calculette des actuaires de Waterloo a aisément fait comprendre que plus de 22% de risque, ça devient énorme.

Les grands gagnants de cette nouvelle seront les actionnaires de Manuvie, du moins à court terme.

Na stronie wytwórni BPitch Control, należącej do niemieckiej didżejki i producentki Ellen Allien, pojawił się wywiad z parą (zarówno prywatnie jak i zawodowo) specyficznych muzyków dosyć dużego formatu, jeśli mówimy o scenie muzyki elektronicznej – Antye Greie i Sasu Ripattim.

AGF/Delay pierwszą płytę wydali w 2005 roku, była to „Explode”, na której zaprezentowali poetyckie piosenki Antye Greiye i minimalną elektronikę Ripattiego, który skupiał się na warstwie perkusyjnej i rytmicznej produkcji. Niedługo później pojawił się projekt The Dolls, w którego skład wszedł dodatkowo pianista Craig Armstrong. Na „Symptoms”, wydanej w marcu tego roku, popuścili wodze swojej twórczej wyobraźni, nie ograniczając, jak poprzednio, arsenału środków, lecz nagrali album bardziej popowy, nie rezygnując przy tym z dźwiękowych eksperymentów.

W wywiadzie odpowiadają na kilka pytań, z których możemy się dowiedzieć na przykład: jak opisują swoją muzykę? AGF odpowiada, że to przede wszystkim elektronika, ale w tym projekcie starają się jak najbardziej zbliżyć do popowego brzmienia. Na pytanie o muzyczne zaplecze, Vladislav Delay odpowiada: „Bardzo wcześnie zacząłem grać na perkusji – kiedy miałem 5 lat – to moje muzyczne zaplecze jako perkusisty; Death Metal – dużo, potem jazz. Później powoli zacząłem eksperymentować z muzyką elektroniczną”.

Czy są jakieś rzeczy, które ich denerwują? („Do you have any ticks?”) – pytanie ciekawe i zaskakujące na koniec tej krótkiej rozmowy. Można je odebrać jako pytanie o złe nawyki albo przyzwyczajenia, dlatego Antye odpowiada najpierw: „Codziennie zjadamy ogromne ilości orzechów” i zwraca się do Sasu:

- Obecnie dużo „googlujesz” w poszukiwaniu samochodów.
- Naprawdę?
- Bardzo
- Daj spokój, to zbyt osobiste.

- Ty… – już chce coś dodać, ale mityguje się i mówi tylko – Nie, wystarczy tego…

Warto zobaczyć ów niedługi, jednak ciekawy wywiad i przekonać się, jak muzycy zachowują się przed kamerą.

Fun for all kids under 16 on Dry Run Creek

Introducing kids to fishing can be one of life’s great pleasures. It can also be a challenge, because the fish don’t always cooperate, and kids have short attention spans. Dry Run Creek offers a solution to parents wanting their kids to have an enjoyable first fishing experience.

This local kid’s fishery, and seriously one of the best in the entire USA, is getting a much needed facelift. Because of its growing popularity and the flooding 2008, Dry Run Creek needs a bit of TLC. And with some state funds, some help from the US Fish and Wildlife Service, the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission and a bunch of local volunteers, through the Friends of the Norfork National Fish Hatchery, its going to be spruced up over the next couple of months.

Dry Run offers kids (and parents wanting to keep them entertained) and physically handicapped fishers a place of their own, where you can catch plenty of fish, and some amazingly big fish. Its catch and release only, and under 16 only.

For us adults it is a great place to walk the banks, enjoy the kids smiles, and spot the fish feeding. Incidentally even if your kids aren’t up for fishing from the middle of next month if you walk down the stair on the east side of Hwy 5 you can watch brown trout and rainbows leaping the falls as they make their way upstream. Better yet it’s free.

Kids and adults alike can also tour the Hatchery itself, spend a quarter and you can feed the trout, from itty-bitty babies up to some wall hanger trophies

  The increasing number of people fishing Dry Run Creek has caused the banks of the creek to become compacted and eroded, plus last year’s floods had a major impact also.  Rock structures will be created to back-up stream water, increasing the depthof the water where levels are to low to support habitat for trout.  They also plan to remove from the creek gravel and rock to widen and increase the depth in the creek.  Rock structures are to be staged on the banks to stop more erosion and backfilled both with the removed gravel from the creek and soil.  This will encorage the growth of plants and cover the exposed tree roots to reduce the loss of more trees.  A walkway will also be provided from the lower to the mid- point upstream.

The lower end of the creek will see the resources for handicap access constructed both from rock wall and lumber constructed boardwalk.

In all, it will restore and enhance in-stream trout habitat.  It will provide improved access for mobility empared anglers and provide access for kids under 16 that will minimize erosion.

Work is planned to start August 24^th and hopefully will be finished by October when the trout start spawning.  If not, then work resume in the spring.

Af samme grund er jeg nødsaget til at ligge på sofaen, have en hvilepuls på cirka 2, mens der ses Tour de France. I skrivende stund er Thor Hushovd i udbrud på en bjergetape. Han skulle efter sigende være en glimrende nedkører, og Jørgen Leth var heller ikke sen til at udtrykke at “her kører en rytter i sit terræn“. Hvad laver man i cykelsporten hvis ens terræn er nedad?

En anden der vist også har tourfeber er Nicki Sørensen. Han fremstemmede efter sin iøvrigt nydelige etapesejr “It hasn’t really gone up for me problably that I won a stage iarn the tour“. Det meget perfekte engelsk kan ses her.

Tilbage er der vist kun den danske superliga i fodbold… Lad os hurtigt blive enige om, at når FCN og AGF ligger i toppen af en tabel, så lider dansk fodbold inderligt under manglende kunnen, talent og forståelse for fodbold. AGF er et fremragende eksempel på, hvilke katastrofer det kan give at have haft Lars Windfeld og Brian Steen Nielsen på et og samme hold, og senere samme ledelse. Nu har den ene indset at det med fodbold måske ikke var det bedste for hverken sig selv eller fodboldens overlevelse. Så hvornår indser resten af AGFs ledelse det også?

Ikke nok med at “de viiie” spiler Superligaens mindst seværdige fodbold; vi skal tilsyneladende også belemres med status på de gamle egetræer omkring anlægget i Fredensvang.

Det er skønt i Århus uanset hvad, men når det går byen godt i sporten og øvrige konkurrencer jubler vi endnu mere. Kald os bare jubelidioter – vi kan bære det…

Bakken Bears vandt fornylig endnu et mesterskab hjem til byen i herrens Basketliga efter en dramatisk finaleserie mod Svendborg.

Kr.himmelfartsdag vandt Skovbakken kvindernes pokalfinale over Fortuna Hjørring.

I fredags hev Bamses Allstars sejren hjem til byen i tv2s Allstars med en finale sejr over Mike Traps ditto fra Stenløse.

I søndags slog fodboldflagskibet AGF, Brøndby med 1-0 på Århus Stadion i en herrefight. Ikke alene var det en sejr ,med også en sød hævn fra 1996, hvor AGF mistede guldet til Brøndby: Nu var det AGF der ødelage Brøndbys guldchance. Endvidere er AGF på rettet vej, og kan nu se en stor fremtid i møde i toppen af danske fodbold med flere titler og medaljer.

Også et tillykke til byens borgmester Socialdemokraten Nikolai Wammen som har fundet kærligheden sammen med Mai Henriksen, der er konservativ politiker fra Odense og ordfører for sit parti i Odense byråd. Størst af alt er kærligheden..

This one is for football fans. If you are in Aarhus on game day you owe it to yourself to watch a game with local football heroes AGF – De Hvi’e (the Whites) to the locals. It is one of the oldest and most succesful football clubs in Denmark and has a large, dedicated fan base. Join the stream of white-dressed fans and sing along with more than 10.000 supporters at NRGi Arena. Matches against FCK, Brøndby, AaB and OB usually attract a big crowd.

Tickets are sold at the stadium. Price: around 15-20 EUR.
