i went out shopping yesterday!… LIKE OMFerkingG!… the sales is like everywhere, can?!?!…
i wanted to get myself some prada and gucci,
but you know… i always think twice before making my purchase.

like the other time, when i got myself a coach bag,
i was inside the store at paragon for 2 bloody hours to decide!…
i don’t know why so many aunties are carrying coach bags nowadays!…

it used to be a trend for youngsters… NOW AUNTIES carry them too?!?!…
and i think those people who carried LV are like, so yesterday!…
so what if you carry an LV?!?!!.. i had it like 5 years ago when you can’t even pronounced LOUIS VUTTON bitches!!!…. maybe, they buy them at PETALING street or some imitation place!… LIKE i dunno liddat!…

some people who cannot afford expensive stuffs will go for imitation!… LOOSER!

i went shopping with my boyfriend the other day.. i so wanted to get him a burberrys wallet!… like OMFGawd, my boyfriend is carrying a BRAUN BUFFEL wallet!!!… i nearly FAINT!!… how cheap is that?!?!…

so ya… since i was in the mood to shop, and i think its only nice if i can used his new VISA card, so i told him… IM GOING to get you a BURBBERY’S wallet… he was giving me the >_<
kinda face, but i don’t care!…

no man is going to bring me out for dinner dates, reaching out from his BRAUN BUFFEL wallet!… NO!… cannot!… like honey, i’m carrying a CHANEL bag and a GUCCI wallet!!… we have to be materialistic, at times.. i don’t say all the time.. i mean, i admit.. i shopped for branded stuffs… but they are good and they last long too!… so why shouldn’t you!??!…

then my stupid younger brother called me on my blackberry phone and told me to get him a crumpler bag… and i was like, YOU WANT TO USE A CRUMPLER BAG?!?!… you are only primary one!!???!!!… but then i figured, he should be carrying a crumpler, instead of those bags found on the wet market kind…

so i grabbed him a crumpler too!… and NOW, i don’t have enough credit to buy something for myself!… i so wanted the SALVATO FERAGAMO bag which i saw at PARAGON a few days bag!… that bag cost $1800.00!!!… * eyes sparkles *

GOOD DEAL you know!….

so in all… i swiped the card like $500.00 for the burberrys wallet… $140 for the cheap crumpler bag yesterday alone!… oh ya.. i won’t carry anything less than $200.00 for bags or wallets!…

will write again soon!… oh ya!… CHANEL is having sale this coming saturday!… so LADIES and gentlemen, bring your credit cards and let’s just GO ‘BOOMZ’ that day!…

Katsui graduated from Central Saint Martins College after studying at Parsons The New School for Design. Yagi graduated from Doshisha University and Central Saint Martins College.
The brand, mintdesigns was launched in 2001. They have been in Tokyo Collection since ‘03 S/S. The awards they won include the Moet et Chandon New Designer’s Award in 2005. In 2007, mintdesigns garage store opened in Shibuya PARCO. They presented their collection in the 21_21 DESIGN SIGHT THIS PLAY! show. In 2008, they presented the opening show at São Paulo Fashion Week for ‘09 S/S. Both designers currently hold positions as guest professors at the Faculty of Art and Design at Osaka Seikei University. In 2009 they presented their collection at the Milano Salone TOKYO FIBER ‘09.Mint Designs turned out a dainty crop of dresses featuring details such as shimmery stripes, textured fabric and quirky graphics. One frock featured a darling print of tiny Charlie Chaplins, while another showcased circular cutouts along the sides.

After the exhibition at the Petit Palais, the Museum of Fine Arts in Paris, save the date of the Designer Frimousses dolls auction on 19 November at Drouot Montaigne, Paris’s prestigious auction house. Since 2003, fashion designers and artists have worked to create something beautiful to help children of Darfur, crafting dolls that become veritable works of art. The whole amount raised during the auction will support the vaccination programme in one of the regions most devastated by the deadly conflict there. Today, more than 4.7 million people are affected, of which 2.2 million are children. Thanks to the Designer Frimousse operation, under the aegis of Laeticia Hallyday, ambassador for UNICEF France, UNICEF carries out the fight for children vaccination every year in the region of Darfur. Vaccination, a method that is both very effective and inexpensive, would prevent these deadly diseases from a very young age (diphtheria, tetanus, whooping cough, polio) and would eradicate this scourge that affects thousands of children every day. The 2008 sale raised 219,130 Euros, used directly on the ground to finance emergency : in the Darfur region, 260,000 children and 195,000 pregnant women received vaccines. Don’t forget these dolls will be sold at auction on 19 November at Drouot Montaigne:

Après l’exposition au Petit Palais, n’oubliez pas la vente aux enchères des Frimousses de créateurs  demain: 19 Novembre, à Drouot Montaigne, Paris. Depuis 2003, créateurs de mode et artistes créent des poupées de collection uniques, de véritables oeuvres d’art pour venir en aide aux enfants du Darfour. La totalité des fonds collectés lors de la vente aux enchères soutiendra les programmes de vaccination dans une des régions les plus dévastées par des conflits meurtriers. Soit aujourd’hui, 4,7 millions de personnes, dont 2,2 millions d’enfants affectées. Grâce à l’opération Frimousses de Créateurs sous l’égide de Laeticia Hallyday, Marraine de l’Unicef France, l’Unicef se bat tous les ans pour la vaccination des enfants dans la région du Darfour. Car la vaccination est un moyen très efficace et peu couteux de prévenir et d’éradiquer les maladies invalidantes meurtrières dès le plus jeune âge (diphtérie, tétanos, coqueluche, poliomyélite, rougeole). L’édition Frimousses de Créateurs 2008 a permis d’envoyer sur le terrain 219 130 € pour financer les activités de vaccination en urgence. 260 000 enfants et 198 000 femmes enceintes recevront des vaccins. Petite parenthése sur la veste et le chapeau que j’ai (Re)découvert il  y a peu de temps dans les affaires de ma mére: son tailleur Agnés B et son chapeau  Philippe Model de Mariage, Pile poil dans la tendance du moment et une originalité extraordinaire!

De même que ce top à sequins fait par les mains de la grand-mére de CHLOE, que je remercie d’ailleurs de me l’avoir offert !

Tuesday November 3rd from 6-8pm Dexter Sinister celebrates the opening of THE FIRST/LAST NEWSPAPER, which is part of Performa09.  They will be producing a newspaper twice a week for three weeks in the Port Authority bus terminal.  Click the link above for more detailed information.

Thursday November 5th is the opening for the Editions|Artist’s Book Fair at X-Initiative.  Tickets for opening night preview cost $50, but The Fair continues through the weekend and is free.  The magazines Blind Spot, and Point d’Ironie/agnès b. will be tabling.

Saturday November 7th from 6-9pm is the opening for One Every Day curated by Printeresting at The Elizabeth Foundation for the Arts in Chelsea.  The exhibit features ArtMag favs Dexter Sinister, Megawords Magazine, and Temporary Services, among many others.  The exhibition is up through December 19th.

Tuesday November 24th Cabinet Magazine hosts a panel discussion at The Kitchen titled Cabinet: Picturing Objectivity.  The event is at 7pm and is free.

Okay, I know that Paris Fashion Week ended a couple of weeks ago, but it took me a while to look at all of the shows because (1) They are so fabulous and (2) There are so many!  The designers showing in Paris definately kept the standard of the being the best.  I was absolutely blown away by some of the shows and there were an impressive amount of collections where I loved every piece (Chanel, Tsumori Chisato, Givenchy, Rue du Mail, Valentino, Isabel Marant….to name a few).  AMAZING.  Anyway, there were many pieces that represented the trends that I’ve mentioned in the past few posts, but there were also a couple new looks that I will talk about as well.  But for the most part, for the Paris collections, anything goes!  I saw some pieces that were super structured, some that were relaxed, some pleated, some tight, bright colors, dark neturals and everything in between!  Here are some examples of what I thought were the best:

Trend: Cute Minis

Just like the rest, these are from the designers’ Spring line, but these cute little numbers are easily layered and totally in for the Fall!

Trend: Grecian Inspired Draping

This look is so flattering and serves as a great palate to add layers.

Trend: Metallics

This look wasn’t as flashy or abundant on the Paris runways, but it definitely still had a presence!

Trend: Jumpsuits & Rompers

These pieces are so easy to wear right now.  They are perfect with tights, a cardigan and a great belt!

Trend: Asymmetric

Trend: Ruffles & Bows

Lots and lots of ruffles!

Staple: Cool Jackets

Especially now, a unique jacket really makes an outfit pop.  Check these out for inspiration:

Staple: Cute Shorts

Ultra-feminine and comfortable, enough said!  Flowy shorts are perfect to pair with patterned tights when it gets a bit chilly.

Staple: White Suit

Classic, chic & never goes out of style.

Styling Trend: Strong v. Feminine

Balance any outfit with this technique!  In Paris, it was mostly used with draping.

Styling Trend: Mixing Prints

Can be tricky, but take a few pointers from Dries Van Noten; the majority of their looks were compiled of patterned layers.

New Trend: Relaxed Pants

Whereas we saw a lot of Harem cut pants on the other runways, in Paris the entire pant leg was relaxed.  But designers also used lux, flowy fabrics, to make these comfortable pieces still luxurious, chic, and ready for a night on the town.  Some are still tailored, but others remind me of a genie pant! (in a good way!)

New Trend: Tuxedo-Inspired

There were a large amount of pieces on the Paris runways that seemed to be inspired by the tuxedo.  Whether the focus is on the lapel, cumberbund, bowtie, dickey, or simply the jacket, these pieces are a great way to dress up a casual outfit.

New Trend: Textures

What’s a great way to amp up some of your pieces? Look for ones that are more than two dimensional!  Textures add a unique dynamic to your every-day outfit.  Not sure where to start?  This is a great time to get textural sweaters, a fun, textured shirt to wear under a cardigan, a furry vest, or even something as simple as a quilted accesory.

Kino@taka has plenty of copies of InRed at about 6 plus but for Steady, it’s almost sold out. The only issues left are either reserved or have slight damages. Still, for most of us, the damage to the magazines’ not that important…. What’s important is the GWP must to be in good condition!

Steady is priced at S$17.50 & InRed is S$21.90 at Kino, before 10% member discount. Total damage for today: S$35.50.

Steady Oct 2009 GWP - Agnes B Lunch Bag

The 6th of October 2009 was a good day in fashion, certainly ‘out there’ , but good. We start with Agnès B. The presentation started out very mellow, but was boosted by some graffiti style outfits. I’ve noticed many more designers going for presentations rather than shows this season, the credit crunch really is biting everwhere.

I have a feeling this show by Alexander McQueen will not be liked by everyone, however , in my eyes he can do no wrong. I especially like the blue toned dresses. I do wonder how on earth the models can walk in those heels, they’re gravity defying.

I’d never really taken much notice of Jean-Charles de Castelbajac before, but anything that involes Disney and Pirates is worth a look. The sparkley disney dresses are my favouite.

Lastly, classic Valentino, beautifull dresses in lovely stlyles and colours.There what I like to call ‘Princess’ dresses. If I was rich I’d probably spend my money buying many beautiful ‘princess’ dresses, I most likely never wear them out, just probably prance around in them and imagine I lived in a castle. I don’t think I ever really grew up – oh well.

If you are a Japanese fashion magazine reader, you’ll know that Japanese magazines often come with wonderful freebies that attract buyers to buy. I’m not talking about free skincare or cosmetic samples but bags, pouches, notebooks, files and even chopsticks with brand names stamped on them! It’s surprising how big brands are willing to stamp their names on the freebies when they cannot guarantee the quality of the items. I can say for a fact that sometimes the quality is really bad and the only redeeming factor about a poor quality freebie is the brand that’s on it. Yes, people can be so superficial at times. However, there are moments when a freebie’s quality surprises you especially since you only pay 700 Yen for it and if you are like me, staying in sunny Singapore, you only pay S$14-18. 

Is it then a surprise that Steady and In Red Oct with freebies such as Marc Jacob pouches and Agnes B lunch bag were ’sold out’ by the time I reached Kino at around 700-715?

Well, I had underestimated my fellow Singaporeans. It was a miscalculation on my part as I had thought there won’t be too many people queuing up for this second shipment. After all, those who were eagerly anticipating to get the magazines would have gotten them in the first shipment. My other assumption was that Kino would have ordered enough magazines for buyers who get there at 8pm. Too bad, I was out of luck and the magazines were already ’sold out’ by the time I reached there.

So to lick my wounds, I got three other magazines….. pretty nice ones though I’m still feeling quite sore over being one step behind in getting Steady and In Red. I bought two last copies of Spring Nov with its lovely Jill by Jill Stuart pouch and the Spring Oct with a really nice tsumori chisato tote bag. Was lucky to get Spring Nov as I tried reserving it last week but the staff had told me they were out of stock for that title. Perhaps someone released it or the heavens took pity on me… Love my purchases to pieces but my accessories collection could have been improved with another Agnes B and Marc Jacob item =P Btw, you might be wondering why I got two.. I’m a hoarder………

This is the inside of the Tsumori Chisato tote bag. It's actually a reversible bag but I prefer to have the solid bronze fabric on the outside with the pattern cloth peeping out at times. I actually tried to resist buying this but in the end bought this to console myself....Glad that I got it as the material's really good. One of my better quality GWPs that I've bought.

25th September Update : a couple of girls have emailed me asking for bag measurements so i’ve added them to the descriptions below. please note that whatever i’ve stated as measurements is what’s stated on the box

picked up ben’s convocation gown earlier today… i took a train to tiong bahru and was totally LOST when i stepped out of the station… i had no idea where the bus stop i was supposed to take the bus from was, and yup, ended taking a cab. sigh… only to realise that Delta House was just a little further down around the corner. what an idiot.

i had to fill in forms, and supposedly a survey which i gave up on. i had to call andrew to ask him what the postal code was, and later had to call his mum TWICE for more clarifications and “advice”… but i’m glad i finally got everything done! and oddly, that was my second time to delta house… and i still couldn’t remember my way out! it’s just confusing! i know the first time i came out the wrong exit so after standing there like an idiot for a bit, i went back in and came out the other side.. somehow it wasn’t the “right” side either. and guess what? instead of making my way back to tiong bahru station (cos i got lost, again) i ended up hopping on a bus and going galavanting in town!

was telling ben what i picked up in town, and he was “threatening” to “confiscate” some of the bags i have… i think i’m gonna get murdered when he gets out of camp… you probably won’t understand why until you’ve seen my room… maybe tomorrow… but meanwhile!

Closet shopping reveals a lot about one’s sartorial leanings. Mine, apparently, are all towards NAVY.

I don’t know what it is about this shade but I own so much in it that I fear I may be somewhat blind to other colors. I did, however, find a green parka that I bought at The Gap some time ago.

En 30 ans, Richard Bellia a photographié les plus grandes stars du rock. Des clichés qu’il a compilés dans un superbe album intitulé : “Un oeil sur la musique 1982-2007“. A l’occasion des dernières Nuits Sonores de Lyon dont le thème était Londres, il a exposé une vingtaine de photos dans le magasin Agnès b. de la Presqu’île. C’est le début d’une grande tournée dans les enseignes de la marque qui va le conduire de Paris à Montpellier, de Cannes à Lille en passant par Bruxelles.
A Montpellier l’artiste a choisi une vingtaine de clichés qui sont autant de rencontres importantes dans sa carrière : Joe Strummer, David Bowie, Iggy Pop, Robert Smith, James Brown, Kurt Cobain,… Des grands formats en Noir&Blanc uniquement réalisés en argentique, “parce que la pellicule a une âme !”
