Hi, I’m the author Patricia. Since I’ve been too busy to blog here and the characters, all but Munchkin have behaved themselves, I haven’t had much to write anyway. However, Munchkin’s behavior has turned for the worst. She now suffers acute separation anxiety every time she’s away from Yves. So Agnes began dumping the terrier off at Yves’s studio. However, Yves says he can’t get any work done with the dog disturbing his peace.

Yves reports that Munchkin either chases Pablo around the studio causing the Tom cat to hiss and get overly defensive or Munchkin barks at the occasional fly that enters the studio. If she’s not doing those two things, she lies next to Yves’ chair while he paints and stares up at Yves with moonie or puppy eyes, causing Yves to feel guilty for all the mean thoughts he had about the dog earlier. (Shhh, don’t tell Agnes).

Wikipedia

Meanwhile, Agnes joined a bike club, which also drives Yves crazy because now she invites sweaty spandex-wearing bicyclists to the flat where they munch on Yves’s croissants and complain about calories (like Americans) or they talk shop for hours.

Agnes did hire a dog behavior specialist (dog psychologist) to get to the bottom of Munchkin’s behavior, with little results. Then she hired a dog communicator who learned that Munchkin’s attachment has to do with the timbre of Yves’s voice. According to the dog whisperer (not Cesar Millan), Yves’ voice resembles the whimper of Munchkin’s mother and the dog breeder separated Munchkin from her mother too soon. However, when Yves and Agnes asked the dog communicator for a solution, she didn’t have one.

So back to Plan B. Will Yves play the surrogate mother role for Munchkin? Will Pablo pack his kitty bags and move to another artist’s studio that’s canine-free? Will Agnes lose interest in her bicycle and the spandex-wearing crowd? And what will become of Jane who still lives with Agnes’ mother, Connie?

Find out in 2013.

And if you’re interested in how Agnes and Yves found each other in the first place, buy “Agnes and Yves” on Kindle, Create Space or Amazon.

Django Reinhardt, Wikipedia image

Agnes: I think Miles Davis was the hottest jazz musician ever. I love his album Kind of Blue. Too bad I sold it before I left San Francisco. That album would sound superb here in Paris–so perfect.

Yves: Miles is okay, but Django, he’s my man. He played wild guitar with missing fingers and he could swing too.

Agnes: His music is too happy for me.

Yves: Non, non, his music was happy, oui, but only because he overcame his hardships. Do you think it was easy for him to be a gypsy in Europe during the 1930s?

Agnes: Do you think it was any easier for Miles to be a black man in the US during the 1940s?

Yves: Maybe you make a good point, but Miles seems brooding to me and conceited.

Agnes: Why do you say that? I think he was suave and sophisticated. And anyway, you should try listening to Miles when you work. Just like you go through your Picasso “Blue Period” often, you could listen to American jazz with blue notes in it. And besides, I read somewhere, maybe it was that article Jane wrote for “Art World” that Kind of Blue is the most popular jazz album ever. Miles founded Cool Jazz. And his style was constantly changing. Whereas, Django…

Yves: Ah, non, are you saying that Django stayed the same and that he did not explore new musical ideas?

Agnes: Yes.

Yves: Well, then you know so little about the musician. He did change styles towards the end, experimented, but did not succeed in the way that Miles did. French jazz suffered prejudices because many French people and Europeans felt that we were competing with the origins of jazz in America. And you have all your jazz legends who some French people still adore.

Agnes: Why don’t we let Munchkin decide which musician is better?

Yves: You let a dog decide about music?

Agnes: Munchkin has good tastes.

Yves: In that case, she will prefer Django. It is bouncy music. Although Pablo prefers Edith Piaf.

Agnes: Edith Piaf. No wonder Pablo gets to stay at your studio. I will not listen to Edith in our flat.

Yves: Yes, I already discovered this about you and I like you anyway.

Agnes: How charitable.

These blog posts were written after the publication of “Agnes and Yves” but if you would like to meet the characters prior to Agnes moving in with Yves, buy the comic novel. www.createspace.com/3713611 and tell your friends.
