I have always been drawn to the Native American culture. To me they possess this unique beauty, passion, spirituality, and oneness with each other and nature. Several years ago I attended my first Pow wow. It was mesmerizing, it was like being in the past and present at the same time. I admired the dancers passion, devotion, and spirituality. They were regal and serene and even haunting. The haunting part has always stayed with me and my dream has been to capture this beautifully haunting spirituality of a people trying to maintain their culture in a modern world.

This portfolio is striving to capture this essence. Recently I attended the AIA Pow wow, below are some of the portraits taken there.

This year the AIA Westchester/Mid-Hudson Chapter created the Design Club, an after-school architectural education outreach program for inner city youth. Select member architects serve as volunteer teachers to enrich elementary students in the field of architecture. In its first year, the club has already seen positive results at Martin Luther King Elementary School located in Yonkers, NY. Children learn through hands-on projects about the science behind building, physics and geometry. Topics range from climate and insulation to bridge building, decoration and biomimicry. The club also takes students on educational field trips; this year was to The Guggenheim Museum.

opo l’arresto a lasciare stupiti.
he fa spavento come Mimmo Raccuglia.

imo, boss emergente Giovanni Nicchi.

The financial crisis hits the super-rich as well, says Forbes 400, the ranking list of the 400 wealt

The financial crisis hits the super-rich as well, says Forbes 400, the ranking list of the 400 wealthiest Americans which was updated this autumn. Within one year they lost a combined $300 billion, about 205 billion Euros. Number 1 on the list is Bill Gates, the Microsoft founder, with an estimated net worth of $50 billion. He had to swallow a loss of about $7 billion. Hit even harder was the investor Warren Buffet who ranks second. According to the American business publication Forbes he lost $10 billion.

But in these difficult times when announcing deficits are on the daily agenda, it is much more interesting to take a look at the winner: Marc Zuckerberg. Within one year the founder of Facebook climbed up from place 321 to place 158 of the Forbes 400. Originally the 25-year-old entrepreneur launched Facebook only for students of Harvard University. After some expansion steps, however, the social network today has more than 300 million members. Zuckerberg explained to Stern, a German news magazine, that it is his goal to gain one billion Facebook users. In Germany, also according to Stern, three-fourths of the 40 million internet users are already members of an online network, and this number is rising. But not only private networks are booming, also in business online networking is growing in popularity such as the business internet portal XING. But futurologists forecast much more: The personal presence on location will not be necessary any more. Research clusters can join their forces in networks. They can study in the same fields of research without being in the same laboratory. Nike picked up this trend: At the Nike+ 10km Human Race the runners don’t have to be present at any of the 30 race venues. Entrants only need a sensor and the corresponding software and with this, they can do their races by themselves at home. Afterwards they synchronize their data via the network. The Nike+ Community has grown to 1.2 million members from 142 countries at the Human Race in 2008.

But the topic of networks does also play an important role for the industry, e.g., to profit from results of the latest research or to educate employees. To push such networks between industry and academia, first and foremost platform- independent solutions and standardized interfaces are essential. The importance of standards is something the machine vision industry recognized early on, and consequently introduced the GigE Vision Standard. At the last Vision show, the three big associations, Automated Imaging Association (AIA), European Machine Vision Association (EMVA) and Japan Industrial Imaging Association (JIIA), entered into an agreement of cooperation for the common development and promotion of new standards in machine vision.

If you also know about the importance of networking: Become a member of our INSPECT network to share existing knowledge over thousands of kilometers. Our goal is one billion users as well – help us in attaining this!

From the moment they decide to curb on personal expenses. Gone are the days where they swiped card to get branded bags, new modification on the car the moment they set their eyes on something.

The focus is all about protecting their little ones medically, education savings and living expenses in case, parents not around.

Truly enjoy my work where I find meaningful. Touching lives, changing destiny.

Following the Awards Presentation there will be a Gala Opening Party celebrating both the awards and the opening of the “Celebration of Architects” Exhibit.

The Exhibition will present the work of Chapter Architects to the public. It will be open to the public on Friday November 20th thru Sunday November 22nd, 2009. The hours will be: 11am to 7pm (Friday and Saturday) 11am to 4pm (Sunday)

Architecture has a large impact on our lives that many of us don’t realize. Our goal is to shed some light on the profession of Architecture and how buildings we design impact and shape the environments in which we live and work.

Last Saturday I went to the Algarve’s International Racetrack, known here as AIA, to watch the final of the International GT Open, because life is not only made of anime, we need to diverse . Ferraris F430, Porsches 911, Aston Martins DB9 and others (I think I saw a couple Hondas S2000) were all racing against each other. The noise was amazing, really loud, it was my first time watching a live race. To bad the stages were almost empty, I think the problem was that the race was barely promoted, I only knew about it after going to the racetrack webpage. The price was really great, 10€ for the 3 days (Friday, Saturday, Sunday) and it was not only GT Open, there were also classic races, Formula Renault 2.0 and others. It was really great watching the races, the racetrack is currently working really hard so that we can get the Formula 1 next year, if that happens I’ll make my reservation immediately ^_^ . This was also my first time photographing high speed moving objects, it was really tough specially with the GT cars cause they went really fast and my camera sucks at isos above 200.

Final arrangements are done, ready to start. The yellow car was really noisy XD.

The pace of expansion in China’s gross domestic product is expected to moderate to an annual rate of 8%-9% into 2010 from its peak of around 15% in the middle of this year, according to the survey.

An alternative interpretation puts the labor market at ground zero, and sees the spending decline merely as a reaction to the labor market.

Elliot Wave analyst Bob Prechter explained to Maria Bartiromo why this market rally is kaput. The internals are ugly, momentum is breaking down, valuations are too high, and everyone’s too bullish. He ominously described the 2008 crash as a warmup, and he likes Treasuries.

Yesterday’s Pacific Building Trade Expo was a huge success!

We all had a fabulous time organizing the panel, gathering information and building representations of case studies for our booth, and all of the hard work definitely paid off!

Our panelists for Goals for a Greener Future did a fabulous job at conveying the sustainability efforts of several Hawaii affiliates. Our executive director, Kathi Hasegawa, and our green building associate, Liz Bowen, kicked off the panel wonderfully by introducing the audience to Habitat’s mission and vision. Maui Habitat’s Marty McMahon kept the positive, uplifting energy all while promoting the sustainability efforts of Maui Habitat’s e-cycling program. Emillia Noordhoek of Molokai Habitat sparked many people’s interest as she detailed Molokai’s upcoming bamboo house. Lastly, Susan Hughes from Leeward Habitat spoke beautifully as she conveyed the deep sense of gratitude and appreciation from Leeward Habitat to all of the organizations that have helped Leeward’s brand new restore raise close to $20,000 since its opening on Oct 3rd.

Hawaii Habitat is truly thankful for the wonderful opportunity to present at the Pacific Building Trade Expo, and we want to extend a big thanks to AIA and Reid Mizue, from kya design group, without him, this all would not have been possible.
