Regarding fashion, well, we are talking, spats, trilby’s, zoot suits for the men, feather boa’s, empire waisted gowns and flapper outfits for the ladies – vintage fashion was clearly very evident for this fine wedding.

We stood and observed, armed with a Hasselblad 503CW and many rolls of Kodak T-MAX 400 film. A mix of both the CF 80mm and CF 50mm lens were used to capture the images as seen below. Available light was measured with the trusty Sekonic L-608 light meter. We did not use flash, just simple ambient light. All images were scanned in using Epson V750 PRO scanner and sepia toned for effect.

It was an amazing to go back to (relative) basics for this shoot, the aim being to capture as roughly and naturally as possible a flavour of Emma and Chris’s fab wedding day.
Obviously, there were some “acting up” photos which we could not resist capturing.

You will also observe occasional out of focus or fuzzy movement in the odd photo which adds to the authenticity of the shoot, and the fact that we have included them in this blog means we had the freedom to do so with artistic licence and jurisprudence!. Post wedding shoot I drove back to Mayo to partake in “part two” of my girlfriends brothers 50th Birthday celebrations. We certainly do love our job and all its travel!.

I have included a few more personal photos of the day in this collection and will include some finer details of the banquet hall at a later stage.

Both Tanja and Julian were so relaxed and it made my job as photographer an easy task to undertake.

As I love B/W & Sepia imagery, my aim was to introduce a timeless feel into the overall shoot by keeping things simple. Oftentimes we are led by fads in photography that will only last a period of time and will begin to look dated through time. Our motto is to keep it simple and put real effort into the artistic composition of each photograph.

We wish Tanja and Julian the best for their new life together.

Both Frank and Sara were remarkably relaxed and a pleasure to work with. The day went smoothly and we stayed until the first dance to capture  the spirit of their wedding. Winter weddings are difficult to work at times but this wedding was a sheer pleasure. Experience helps the seasoned photographer make difficult decisions easier for all concerned and I thank Frank and Sara for their attitude and gentle disposition. I know that they will have a great honeymoon.

Taken on the 21st April 2005 in the bookstore/gift shop of La Sagrada Familia, part of Gaudi’s unfinished masterpiece and possibly Barcelona’s most important landmark.

We were on holidays in this crazy city and took time out to take in the sights.
This shot was the result of my brother posing next to the uplight under the diamond window. It was captured in a split second, no time to waste as the lights went off directly after.

I love the composition, the rule of thirds is critical in this shot along with the reflection in the floor.
The point of focus (Chris) is positioned in the bottom RHS of the frame, an important consideration one should take into account when framing photographs for competitions.

Pro and Studio Collection Albums

We use Jorgensen albums as our premium album supplier. The quality, attention to detail and pure craftmanship involved in the making of each album is astounding. The design is simple and can be customised in so many ways, all mats can be designed and cut from scratch and this is invaluable when you are working with clients to fit in as much as is possible.
