Aion is considered to be one of the most successful heavy metal bands in Japan. They are considered to be one of the 5 bands to start the Japanese Visual Kei movement in the mid 80s. Touring with big bands such as X Japan and Luna Sea. They recorded 15 full albums, 5 singles, 2 EPs and released more than 10 VHS/DVD.</p>
<p><strong>Band history</strong></p>
<p>Signing contract with BMG in 1990, Aion gained reputation in the Visual Kei scene. 1991 was the year when they started to succeed. After the releasement of Aionism, they gained reputation as one of the most innovating bands in the local scene. At that time, the band Luna Sea used to play together with Aion, that&#8217;s why Aionism had some vocals recorded by Ryuichi Kawamura of Luna Sea. The hits would come in 1992, when they changed their thrash metal roots for a stylized power metal music. AION was then released successfully, including a PV of their song AION 音楽. Local magazines and TV showcased them from 1991 to 1995, when their last album, <em>Freak Out</em>, was released. After the disbandment in 1995, NOV and IZUMI continued with the musical business and released their own music using the AION name. As for today, Aion still continues to play lives in small live houses.</p>

<content:encoded><![CDATA[<div class='snap_preview'><p>Ist schon mal installiert &#8211; und hat es dabei gleich geschafft, mir einen gewissen Schrecken einzujagen. Mal davon abgesehen, dass der Patchvorgang schneller und besser als bei WoW lief, hat es sich auch schneller (und besser) installieren lassen. Jedenfalls kann ich mich noch gut an die anfänglichen Quälereien mit den WoW-CDs, oder der Repair.exe erinnern, oder einfach nur dem blizzardschen Downloader erinnern.</p>
<p>Demnächst dann mal noch einen Account erstellen und schauen, wie es ist. Angefangen hat es ja schließlich gut und nachdem die Instanzen in WoW ja wieder in zwei Tagen leergeräumt sind und auf dem PTR auch Flaute herrscht, hat man ja nix besseres zu tun.</p>

<content:encoded><![CDATA[<div class='snap_preview'><p>It&#8217;s been fascinating to watch the increasing level of real-time visibility of MMORPG content <strong>outside of the game</strong>.</p>
<p>One of the first advances made by game developers in this regard was to provide player and guild profiles on the web. Most of the major MMO&#8217;s (e.g. WoW, WAR, etc) provide profiles for each character, where you can see things such as their current gear.</p>
<p>Aion includes this; it&#8217;s &#8220;table stakes&#8221; in my opinion to have parity with competitors. E.g. here is a screenshot of <a title="Taugrim's Chanter Profile" href="http://na.aiononline.com/characters/Lumiel/Taugrum">my Chanter&#8217;s profile on aionline.com</a>.</p>

<p>There are many reasons why this kind of information is very helpful, e.g.</p>
<ul>
<li>to figure out when forum posters can credibly back up their claims in terms of progression or gear</li>
<li>to see how other experienced and skilled players enchant/socket their gear and which gear pieces they go after (crafted vs PVE)</li>
<li>to share your character&#8217;s progression with your friends</li>
<li>to find out how strong players of the other faction are</li>
<li>etc</li>
</ul>
<p>However, Aion has gone further than just player and guild profiles. When you login to aiononline.com, you can see the status of your current Auction House (AH) items and how many of your friends and guild mates are online:</p>

<p>Aion limits a character to 10 items on sale on the AH. However, I can tell at any time which, if any, of my AH items have sold with a web browser. Even when I don&#8217;t have much time to login and play, this visibility has enabled me to keep my AH &#8220;stocked.&#8221; I&#8217;ll login simply to post new sale items when I know some items have sold.</p>
<p><strong>We&#8217;re in the nascent stages of increased MMORPG access across &#8220;channels.&#8221;</strong> The market is evolving, and the question becomes, where is it evolving to?<strong><br />
</strong></p>
<p>Let&#8217;s consider social games. For many popular social games, you have a flexibility of playing the same game on Facebook, on a game site, and on your handheld (e.g. iPhone app) or on your PC. <strong>Social games create a strong &#8220;pull&#8221; for players by enabling them to experience the game <em>regardless of their location</em>; you can play via a web browser at home, at the office, while traveling, etc<em>. </em></strong>On top of this, social game developers have learned how to create a sense of urgency that makes players feel the need to login and play. We see this phenomenon with &#8220;time management&#8221; games, such as Mafia Wars, where players have energy that is expended on missions and regenerates even when a player is &#8220;offline.&#8221; So players have a sense of urgency to login and spend energy after they are full, so that they can maximize the progression of their character. I feel that same sense of urgency with Aion when my AH items have sold.</p>
<p>So how far will cross-channel integration affect MMORPGs? That is, what will the experience be when we are not logged in to the game client? That&#8217;s the big question.</p>
<p>Several years ago, the question was which platforms (PC, console, or Mac) a game would be supported on. But <strong>the rise of social media and social gaming, coupled with the </strong><strong>evolution of mobile devices with high-speed wireless Internet access, is causing radical structural shifts in the </strong><strong>gaming industry. The question is no longer which platforms a player can play on (PC, Mac, console), but rather how does a customer experience the game, regardless of their location</strong>. The MMORPG market must innovate, as it did earlier this decade when MMORPGs created new social meaning (playing games with other people in a rich environment), to remain relevant and attractive to consumers.</p>

<p>My hope is that MMORPG game developers will be creative and open-minded in terms of how they approach cross-channel integration. There are the obvious concerns for MMORPG players. E.g. increased out-of-game access (e.g. being able to buy/sell on the AH) could be vulnerable to exploitation by &#8220;gold farming&#8221; companies. However, at least in the short term, there are mechanics that companies can implement, as NCSoft has done, to allow players to still feel connected to and see what is happening with their characters, even with they are not logged in to the game client.</p>

What Mark has now learned, and at some point people like Tobold will realize, is that the MMO genre IS a niche genre, and taking one pop sensation and trying to pretend that’s the actual market size is well&#8230; a good way to merge servers after a few months and a quick way to get fired.</p>
<p>Which is not to say that as a niche the genre can’t be hugely profitable, just ask CCP or Turbine. What’s not profitable is looking at one outlier and thinking your great idea is enough to draw that population in, a population that NO MATTER WHAT is not interested. They do a good job of pretending to be interested, sure, but the sooner you realize they are not, the better (for your game and your job security).</p>
<p>Sadly games like WAR, Aion, and soon enough SW:TOR don’t seem to understand this, and the aftermath can/will be brutal. The one big question I have is; does Blizzard understand this? Is their next MMO aiming to replicate the EVE model of slow but steady growth over 5+ years through superior MMO design, or will they go even further than WoW has and remove even more of what makes an MMO an MMO to appeal to the far larger but fickle non-MMO gamer segment? Are they prepping Blizzard’s take on sandbox MMO design, or a highly polished Mafia Wars?</p>

<p>The other night about 8 or so of us hooked up and rifted over to Asmodae to pwn some Asmos <img src='http://s.wordpress.com/wp-includes/images/smilies/icon_smile.gif' alt=':)' class='wp-smiley' />  We were over there for damn near 2hrs, maybe longer. I think our first kisk got destroyed around the &#8220;10 minutes remaining&#8221; mark, don&#8217;t remember exactly so we ended up dropping another kisk and continuing on with our massacre  <img src='http://s.wordpress.com/wp-includes/images/smilies/icon_smile.gif' alt=':)' class='wp-smiley' />  50&#8242;ish asmos later they finally got sick of us and put together a lil group and grabbed a 47  twinked Sorc to drop bombs on us. We got pwned in the face but it was fun as hell!!!</p>
<p>We did have some funny mishaps along the way that kept us laughing the whole night through. Asmo territory isnt the easiest to get around and well poor Draco got stuck in a hole while crossing a bridge. I got stuck in the same hole but was able to jump and fall threw a gap in the bottum of the bridge, Dracos was not as lucky <img src='http://s.wordpress.com/wp-includes/images/smilies/icon_sad.gif' alt=':(' class='wp-smiley' />   I wish I had gotten a screenshot of it but I was too busy on the floor holding my stomach and crying tears of laughter (sorry Dracos) <img src='http://s.wordpress.com/wp-includes/images/smilies/icon_smile.gif' alt=':)' class='wp-smiley' />  &#60;3  Our other continuous &#8220;mishap&#8221; was our dear Ader whom was so kind to find all the guards in Asmodae for us <img src='http://s.wordpress.com/wp-includes/images/smilies/icon_smile.gif' alt=':)' class='wp-smiley' />   Way to take one for the team Ader, over and over and over and over!!!  We &#60;3 you!!</p>
<p>After our trip to Asmodae was complete we grabbed some others in the guild and headed up to the abyss to do some pwn&#8217;age up there. We took two artifacts, killed a few asmos and then headed over to the western circle where there was a bit of a rumble between elyos and asmos goin on. We did some pwning and well some die&#8217;n as well lol but was fun as hell! To top the night off McMad pulled a <a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LkCNJRfSZBU" target="_blank">LEROOOY JENKINS</a> and zerged the last asmo standing whom thought he was safe back behind his guards next to the flight transporter. McMad used all his &#8220;specials&#8221; ran in and killed his ass before the guards killed him. It was hilarious! ^5 &#8230;&#8230;&#8230;LEEEEROOOOOOY! JEEEEEEENKINS!</p>

<p><strong>Far Cry 3 đang được phát triển?</strong></p>
<p>Trong một buổi họp mặt gần đây của <a href="http://baogame.vn/home/chuyen-muc/ubisoft">Ubisoft</a> liên quan tới tựa game sắp phát hành của hãng là Avatar, một người viết kịch bản của <a href="http://baogame.vn/home/chuyen-muc/ubisoft">Ubisoft</a> đã vô tình tiết lộ về dự án tiếp theo của hãng. Kevin Shortt đã trả lời một cách rất trung thực khi được hỏi về việc ông có tham gia dự án Far Cry 3 hay không:</p>

Hiện nay, các luồng thông tin về Far Cry 3 vẫn còn khá mù mờ và mới chỉ dừng ở mức đồn thổi. Năm ngoái, nhà thiết kế Patrick Redding đã đề cập đến phần tiếp theo vẫn với bối cảnh cũ là Phi Châu nóng bỏng, tuy nhiên ông cũng bỏ ngỏ khả năng sẽ là Nam Cực buốt giá.</p>

<p><em>It’s been a busy couple of weeks here since the launch of </em><em>Aion. The post-launch period of many games means that you have time for a bit of rest. After an MMO launches however, your job is just beginning.</em></p>

<p><em>Recently, we released a lot of information on the sales and success of </em><em>Aion in respect to Europe and North America, and also globally. We are off to a very, very respectable start.</em></p>
<p><em> </em></p>
<p><em>We are constantly delighted that so many of you purchased and are now playing </em><em>Aion. Shortly after </em><em>Aion’s launch we experienced longer queue times than we would have liked. We reacted by working immediately on a server transfer system. However, the server transfer we began to implement was a rush job, and we are not happy with the result. As it currently stands, transferring characters is a manual process that would shift a significant percentage of our customer service staff members’ focus from issues like real money transfers/trading (RMT) and botting that we feel should take priority.</em></p>
<p><em> </em></p>
<p><em>It’s a difficult decision, but we are delaying the deployment of our server transfer system until we can do it right for you. We </em><em>will eventually honor our promise to give eligible players the opportunity to transfer for free, but we’re shooting to implement transfers in the first half of 2010, though we don’t have a specific deadline for you.</em></p>
<p><em> </em></p>
<p><em>Moving on to much more positive news, in the past week we deployed a new patch to address a CryEngine.dll crash that we’ve seen reported commonly. (If you’re still seeing this issue, please report it in our tech support forums.)</em></p>
<p><em> </em></p>
<p><em>Speaking of forums, our Community Team is focusing again on the forums and the website. The members of the team are investigating ways to improve the player experience in the forums and website. We are taking your feedback to update and improve the </em><em>Aion web services overall.</em></p>
<p><em> </em></p>
<p><em>It’s no secret that we’ve had our share of RMT spammers and been plagued by the associated problem of bots. We’re working to eliminate these persistent pests through a multipronged approach. We have instituted a dedicated Game Surveillance Unit (GSU). The GSU is a team whose primary mission is to identify and ban users violating our terms of service: bot users, RMT chat spammers, and the like. We just did an in-depth and focused sweep through the game to ban users in violation using some new methods with exciting capabilities that I’m personally very happy about. These new methods are going to catch a lot of bot users who thought they were safe. This week we’ve banned over 27,000 of these accounts, and we’ll keep searching for other offenders to continue improving the quality of your game environment.</em></p>
<p><em> </em></p>
<p><em>Finally, outside of the complaints about bots and the RMT vermin, perhaps the biggest criticism from our players comes in relation to the pacing, experience curve, item drops, and overall difficulty and risk vs. reward in </em><em>Aion current gameplay. I’m glad to share some preliminary responses from the Development Team and affirm to you their willingness to address these issues. Obviously, data tuning on a live MMO isn’t something you do carelessly, and it will take some time to fully implement. In the near future, we hope to deploy a short-term enhancement to address some of concerns that you have told us about across the board. We’re currently testing some game variables to increase experience gain and other factors. We look forward to sharing some good news on this soon.</em></p>

<p>Lots of talk, lookin&#8217; forward to the actions.  They&#8217;ve done a pretty good job so far though, regarding the bots.  I was actually able to finish off my quests in Heiron a couple of days ago because there were actually mobs to kill!!  Most of the bots I used to see auto-harvesting are gone as well, which is definitely a plus.</p>
<p>The GSU sounds like a good concept, but if it ends up being another Square Enix &#8220;Special Task Force&#8221; the community should do itself a favor an&#8217; just quit.  Special Task Force my ass, their whole player association theory was total bullshit!  Had a couple friends playing FFXI who got banned illegitimately and without explanation.  Mind you they invested a ton of time into their characters (FFXI being the time sink that it is), so being dropped in that manner was a pretty devastating blow.  No use playing a game when there&#8217;s a team actively looking for any little reason to ban you just so they can meet their quota&#8230;</p>

<p>Sorry, even though FFXI was my very first MMO an&#8217; I have very fond memories of it, I resent Playonline with a burning passion.  The navigation of the viewer was terrible, customer service never replied to any inquiries, an&#8217;&#8230; thankfully NCsoft is doing its job (at least through my experiences so far).</p>

C&#8217;è molta carne al fuoco ed un futuro di prospettiva molto&#8230;molto interessante. Leggend,o quel lungo intervento, ho pensato che più o meno sono le stesse cose che aspettano da due anni in Korea, terra patria di Aion. DX 10, housing, aree sommerse e nuove quest line. I problemi rimangono, il lungo grinding, il problema del cryengine.dll che fa crashare moltissimi player in possesso di sistemi con più di due giga di ram.  Ma si può essere fiduciosi?, forse se si ignora che il titolo di punta di NcSoft&#8230;quello che creò l&#8217;impero koreano degli MMO fu Guild Wars. Ci fù perfino una guerra legale con ArenaNet dentrice a suo dire di una parte dei diritti sul titolo. Uscirà entro il 2010 ed è lecito aspettare che questo sarà il titolo di punta, il titolo AAAAA da spremere a fondo&#8230;il World of Warcraft asiatico. I più attenti lettori della blogosfera che ruota intorno agli MMORPG non possono aver dimenticato T.E.R.A. il gioco che hanno assemblato in pochissimi mesi alcuni ex componenti del team di sviluppo proprio di Aion. Sarà disponibile tra pochissimo, sembra davvero che sarà proprio Tera (quindi Aion con un nome diverso) a ledere la posizione dominante in oriente di Aion.</p>

<title><![CDATA[What caused Warhammer Online to fail?]]></title>

<content:encoded><![CDATA[<div class='snap_preview'><p>Today <a href="http://tobolds.blogspot.com/2009/11/is-mmo-market-rational.html">Tobold is asking why Warhammer Online failed</a> to live up to it’s mega-title expectations (expectations that I was grossly wrong about as well), give readers either the choice that WotLK killed it (tourists) or that WAR was just a bad game. While the obvious answer is “both”, it’s still interesting to break down exactly what happened here.</p>
<p>Lets assume WAR sold 1m boxes total (it’s a little higher than that, but 1m is a nice round number). (Oh and before someone mentions Paul Barnet, his job was to hype WAR, and WAR sold over 1m boxes. He did his job, and did it well, no matter how much you might hate him) Of that 1m, I’d say 600k (60%) were WoW tourists, who no matter how good WAR was were going back for WotLK. Because unless you are a believer in the Eurogamer method of MMO evaluation, for most players a month or less is not enough time to fully evaluate a game, especially an MMO, and especially in it’s first month of release. But whatever the reason, that 60% does not count, because no matter what your game is or how good it is, they are going to leave in the first month. Accept their one-time payment of $50 and forget about them.</p>
<p>The problem for WAR is that, even after we forget the tourists, you still have 400k or so customers who are interested in what you offer, and 400k is more than enough subs to keep even a AAA title profitable and happy. But WAR does not have 400k, or 300k, or probably even 200k subs today, and the WotLK/tourist effect has long since passed. WAR lost a significant portion of it’s remaining 400k because, quite simply, it’s a flawed game. It’s not an outright ‘bad’ game, because many of it’s systems and overall engine are very good, but none of that matters when at the end of the game you have the utter disaster that is T4 sitting and waiting for you. That end-game RvR is a disaster is told to us by Mythic loud and clear, as every major patch is another attempt to fix it, and as every patch passes, T4 remains worthless. And sadly, at this point, with all the budget/workforce cuts, it’s unlikely WAR will get the resources to get it right. It really is sad too, because I fully believe if Mythic had fixed T4 (and it was possible), WAR would have rebounded and would have established itself as a solid choice for MMO casuals looking for some friendly RvR.</p>
<p>Back to the original question, as applied to any upcoming releases (or most recently Aion), you can easily write off 60% of whatever your initial sales are for any MMO due to the pop sensation that is the Mr. T grenade of WoW. The worst thing any developer can do is try and retain that 60% by modifying their game, because most likely whatever change you make to please the tourists is going to piss of your core base, and the tourist will leave regardless.</p>
<p>Once the first month is over and the tourists have moved on, whether you retain the remaining 40% is indeed up to your game. We are seeing with Aion that, like WAR, it’s issues are driving players away in bulk (which is even more comical given that most of whose who leave never experienced the real flaw that is the end-game RvR), while titles like Fallen Earth and DarkFall are stabilizing and slowly growing after experiencing their own (but much smaller) cases of tourism.</p>
<p>The tourist population makes evaluating success in the current MMO space more difficult initially, because at first glance 60% of your customers leaving in the first month does seem drastic. But if you ignore and forget them, and instead focus on the group that is ultimately going to matter, the picture gets a little clearer (plus you get a nice one-time funding bonus). Regardless of market conditions or trends, good MMOs will prosper and bad ones will struggle, you just might not be able to identify who is who in the first month.</p>

<content:encoded><![CDATA[<div class='snap_preview'><p>Let&#8217;s face it, we have all made some alts in the games we play, is it for bank mules, for the AH game or just to twink him up and own the low lvl areas and battlegrounds. It&#8217;s refreshing from your chosen class and your casual rotations, although when it comes to aion or war it makes you wonder! Why you enjoy so much the first lvls of the game and you can&#8217;t move one later? Sometimes you have picked up the wrong class or you want to be both a melee and caster so the only way is to double everything! Although many times the game later on is not as polished/well-developed as it was at the first areas, how many times can you kill the same looking mob with a different color or just a different name? Why not stay at the good areas all the time and have fun? Maybe thats one of the reasons why the 70% of aion&#8217;s population is below 30, more ap from kills even if you are grouped with friends, more ppl to fight why even bother lvling up? Thats was one of the problems War had to deal with and we all know what happened&#8230;</p>

<p style="text-align:justify;">Lo primero unas cuantas notas que he aprendido sobre macros:</p>
<p style="text-align:justify;">- Las macros se ejecutan de principio a fin y no se paran</p>
<p style="text-align:justify;">- Si quieres para una macro manualmente lo puedes hacer volviendo a ejecutarla</p>
<p style="text-align:justify;">- Si en medio de la macro cambias de target manualmente, la siguiente skill de la macro se ejecutará sobre él. Esto puede ser muy útil o hacer que cometas un gran error <img src='http://s.wordpress.com/wp-includes/images/smilies/icon_smile.gif' alt=':)' class='wp-smiley' /> </p>
<p style="text-align:justify;"><strong></strong>- Los delays al final se encuentran mejor con prueba-error. Si la habilidad2 ves que no se ejecuta, mete un delay entre la 1 y ella, que no le da tiempo. Que al probar ves que el personaje se queda mirándo al techo entre dos habilidades&#8230; baja el delay. Evidente, no? pues no es tan sencillo!</p>

<p style="text-align:justify;">Al comenzar el <strong>pull </strong>uno duerme al que le marquen y luego selecciona al que hay que pegar. Para renovar el <strong>sleep </strong>sin tener que targetear de nuevo al que tenemos dormido, y volver al que estaba pegando, esta macro es muy útil:</p>

En esta <strong>macro </strong>se selecciona al bicho con la marca zZz, en el caso de que no haya ninguno, se la colocamos al que tengamos seleccionado y ejecutamos la habilidad de dormir.</p>

<p style="text-align:justify;">Esta macro la uso para comenzar el ataque ya que siempre empiezo igual (si las habilidades no están el cooldown lo cual a veces me ocurre si voy jugando con mi amiguete <strong>Tiki </strong>y matamos bichos a toda velocidad).</p>
<p style="text-align:justify;">Primero uso la habilidad de gastar 50% menos de maná (stigma), luego el bolazo con retardo y por último el Flame Harpoon. A partir de ahí, ya lo hago a mano.</p>

Como con el teclado Merc el tabulador no se me da bien, tengo esta macro para echarle un tranquility al bicho más cercano:</p>

<p>Da habe ich doch glatt wieder gegrüßt und gestern mehr als nur einen Vogel abgeschossen. Andererseits kann ich die Schuld auf meinen Outfitter abwälzen, der mich doch gehörig im Stich gelassen hat. Worum gings? Im 10er den Tribut an den sicheren Wahnsinn, wo man keinen Gegenstand aus PdK-25er, oder besser, tragen darf (an der Stelle sei gefragt: Weiß einer, ob die unerbittlichen PvP Teile tragbar sind, oder nicht? Von den blauen Statements war ja leider nur PvE Gear aufgeführt.)</p>
<p>Beim ersten Boss lief alles super, danach wollte ich mein Euleequip anschauen, was dafür leider zu gut war &#8211; und wechselte per Outfitter auf meine vorher ausgesuchten Sachen zurück. Hat aber nicht so ganz geklappt, weswegen ich beim 2ten Boss den falschen Helm anhatte (und durch den Einheitsbrei des Aussehens natürlich nichts merkte) und beim dritten Boss plötzlich die falsche Brust anhatte, wo ich nicht mal weiß, wie ich das hinbekommen habe &#8211; und wir entsprechend nach Anub keinen Erfolg bekamen. Äußerst ärgerlich das Ganze. Zumindest weiß man so, dass es nicht reicht, nur die nötigen Sachen bei Anub zu tragen.</p>
<p>Aber Outfitter geht ja, so wie es der Zeit aussieht, ohnehin nicht mehr ab dem Arthas-Patch. Die Funktion ist dann nämlich dem Blizzard-UI vorbehalten.</p>

<li>Támogatás a spin és az aerial abnormálokhoz (aether&#8217;s megtartja az állapotát).  Szintén támogatás hozzáadva a konckdownhoz. (aki tudja értelmezni ezt a pontot, kérem jelezze hozzászólásokban, mert nekem nem tiszta, hogy mi is ez.)</li>
<li>Skill reuse számlálódik logout után is.</li>
<li>Azok a skillek amik előzetesen root-to, sleep-et vagy hasonlót igényelnek, már csak így használhatóak.</li>
<li>Knockdown effect hozzáadva critical esetén a két kezes fegyverekhez. Alacsony az esélye, nagyjából mint retail.</li>
<li>Már nem lehet ellenséget buffolni.</li>
<li>Stun, sleep esetén űgy tűnt, hogy még mindig támad az akin a debuff van. Ez csak vizuális hiba volt, de már ez is javítva.</li>
<li>A legtöbb skillhez már a megfelelő abnormalok kapcsolódnak.</li>
