My Hero.

The return of my wonderful brave soldier was the gift I prayed forevery night, and it was wonderful when mine and my family’s prayers were answered this January. Little Zoe and Andrew were only two and six when Jason was deployed first for twelve months and of course it was extended – I can assure you the last three months were the worst and it just seemed like forever.

Deployment Ring – Happiness In Clarksville.

If you’ve been to Clarksville in and have ever had the opportunity to

Customize Your Own Ring

visit Fort Campbell you will notice one strong element amongst the military community there, and thats a sense of togetherness and one for all and all for one. Yes we look out for each other and the family support groups are second to none. During moments of despair I’ve gone to the group activities and felt like these are my sisters and brothers looking out for me and my family wile my hero and brave warrior was away. For his return it was my intention to get for him a military ring well actually a custom deployment ring to commemorate his twelve months away from home.

My Gift To Him – A Custom Military Ring.

I spoke to Jason on the phone as often as I could and then Andrew was next in line for his conversation with dad, they spoke about football and school and Andrew would tell him how he was looking after little Zoe and how big she was getting. Those were actually the hardest moments listening to the little excited voice talking to his hero and having to say goodbye.

During our conversation Jason said all he wanted from Iraq was to have a deployment ring with all his details on it, like his name his unit emblem and the dates of his service and deployment. This is the one thing I made sure that he was going to have, so I did my research and one of my friends had just received a ring from Society Gifts the global military ring jewelry shop that does a fantastic range military rings.

To day he wears, with pride his “Deployment Ring ” and its beautiful.

Lets face it, all of us who are retired or actively involved in any part of the defence forces of our respective countries, have a certain desire to make others aware of this.

There are various ways we show our pride like joining clubs and organizations and getting involved in the community and local activities to help others who have been less fortunate than us.

One of the best ways is of course the wearing of the ” Military Ring

Where Can I Buy Military Rings;

If you are familiar with search engines like Google, Yahoo and MSN these are as good a place as any. Enter the searchphrase “custom military ring” and see who comes up. You will find that most of the time a shop like societygifts.com who specialize in custom rings appear on the front page of most of these search engines.

Military Ring companies like Societygifts will help you design a ring in three simple steps, such as choosing the metal you want your military ring in, the wording around the stone, the stone color, which most people choose a color to reflect the month of their birth, the wording or date on the side of the ring, this is normally above the military emblem that you can select from hundreds of designs on this online shop.

Three Steps To Designing Military Ring;

Step (1): Select Valadium or Gold.

Step (2):Select wording around stone, ring size, stone color.

Step (3):Select designe for both from the selection available and the text or date to go above the designs.

Metals Available for the Creation of a Military Ring:

There are a few types of metals available and here are their names and a brief description.

Celestrium or Valadium Military Ring

For a hard wearing inexpensive ring this is the most common metal to choose. It is available in both gold and silver and comes with a lifetime guarantee.

Select Siver Military Ring

This is a ring made of sterling silver with a platinum finish which gives it a lovely shine when it is finished.

Gold: Well for all of us who like a beautiful ring to wear on special occasions nothing can compare to the “Gold Military Ring”. This type of ring comes in a variety of choices such as the following:

10K White and Yellow Gold, 14K White and Yellow Gold, and my advice to anyone who wants to wear the ring on an everyday basis should consider the 10K versions as it will bear up to a lot more hardship than the 14k one, as the gold is not as soft and hence will not show up the wear and tear of everyday mishaps.

Did you know that through-out Europe in the early centuries the Coats of Arms and Crests were very similar, especially around the twelfth century. The rise of Heraldry and the emergence of Coats of Arms is thought to have been associated with the Crusades and the Knights that would have fought during these very fearful and difficult time in Western Europe.

Family Crest & Coat of Arms

The Coat of Arms and Family Crests that were designed by clans were considered to be personal property and could not be used by anyone other than the family that created it. There were times it is believed that when two clans went to war with each other, the victorious of the two would possibly take part of the other clans coat of arms and integrate it in to their own. This was then used as a sign to other clans in the region of their victory and gave them a certain amount of power in the eyes of others.

Family Crest & European Heraldry:

Through-out Europe the ruling houses had certain officers of arms that would record the coat of arms and regulate the heraldic achievements of the various clans and ruling families, and these officers would be called upon the adjudicate during any quarrels about the coat of arms.

Military Crests

The military to-day as in the past have heraldic symbols to indicate the units and divisions, if you take for instance the United States Military most of their units and divisions have symbols and badges that are very much akin to the blazon of arms that were around in the twelfth and thirteenth centuries. The Custom Military Rings that we see a lot of the US Military wearing have certain symbols that are similar to the Family Crest Rings that are worn by those who have a fascinating interest in “Heraldry”.

Family Crest Rings

As time moved on European Heraldry moved on from being associated with clans and families to be associated with countries;

If you look at countries such as Austria, Germany, France, England, Ireland, Scotland, Spain, Belgium, Italy, Portugal, Switzerland and Scandinavia all these countries and many more around the world would now have the country coat of arms, and some of them are very beautiful and indicate a huge amount of pride. The lovely colours used in Heraldry give an uplifting feeling and on special days and of course special events such as international events like the “World Cup” or the “Olympics” its absolutely spectacular to view the different flags of the competing nations with their various crest and coats of arms.

It is in my opinion that if your are lucky enough to have a family coat of arms, then have it researched by some of the renowned companies like Society Gifts where the will engrave it on a piece of jewellery or paint it on a nice plaque, the possibilities are endless.

Growing up around Clarksville, Tennessee back in the early seventies and living right next door to

Growing up around Clarksville, Tennessee back in the early seventies and living right next door to Captain David Pickering one couldn’t help but have a huge amount of pride in our United States Military. Every morning I would watch Captain Picko as he was affectionately known, step out of his home with that spritely step of a well trained man who obviously kept to a regime of exercise every day. There was something special about “Picko” with his well groomed hair, piercing blue eyes and a uniform that was rarely creased and adorned with medals that was earned overseas in the many deployments over his remarkable career in the service.

I like many more had a great respect for Picko and when I decided to join the Armed Forces I thought that I could do worse than to speak with the man himself and get some advice from this very professional gentleman.

The questions were some of the obvious ones, regarding family, deployment, and the army itself and how to deal with these.

His Advice On Deployment!

He addressed me as Tony G and began by saying that preparing for a deployment was like preparing for anything in life and basically one of the main things is proper planning. Take the “Family” for instance, there are many “Family Centers” that will take the mystery out of all of this. There are various branches of the service that have different names for family centers and these cater for both families and the single service members.

Here Are Some Examples Of The Names!

In the Army it is referred to as “The Community Service Center”.

In the Navy and the Marine Corps it is referred to as “ The Family Service Center”.

In the Air Force it is referred to as “The Family Support Center”.

In the Coast Guard it is referred to as “The Works Life Center”.

The family centers can help in some many ways, like helping family members to find a job and they also have workshops that will assist in writing resumes and interviewing techniques.

The assistance they will give in helping families with the military associated problem of moving. Especially when moving around the world to other duty stations. They will give you basic education and financial assistance to help with budgeting, money management, taxes and lots of other aspects of financial management.

Being involved in these family centers relieves the stress that’s commonly associated with separation and having to look after the family especially if the children are very young. Don’t ever forget that the partner or spouse that’s far away will always be relieved to hear that you have the support and friendships that these centers have to offer.

Treat Yourself and Your Soldier!

Buy gifts for each other during the deployment like anniversary and birthday gifts and some of these military gifts can be seen by visiting the famous online societygifts > Shop

Deployments do end be prepared for that also!

Anyone who has used the internet, even for a short time, has no doubt been amazed by just how much information is available at the click of a mouse. Information that used to take days or weeks to find can now often be had in a matter of minutes. There is certainly no shortage of vital records online, including birth records, death records, employment records, tax records, coats of arms records, military records, navy records, and others.

In fact, many people have begun to use the power of the internet to research their own families and build their own family histories. The internet is certainly a powerful tool for this kind of research, and many amateur and professional genealogists have used this online world to gather information about both famous and obscure relatives.

Those seeking to fill in those missing gaps on the family tree have a great many online resources to choose from, and the birth records, death records and employment records found online can be a huge help in putting together a family timeline.

Gathering information such as dates of birth and dates of death can make it a great deal easier to trace the history of any family, both in the United States as well as in their countries of origin. Knowing when each member of the family came into the world, and when he or she left it, can provide information that is vital to creating an accurate family history. This kind of family history research can be fascinating, and lots of fun, and the creation of a family tree makes a great project for the kids as well.

Many of us have created small versions of our own family trees, with our parents, grandparents and perhaps a couple of aunts and uncles, but fewer have undertaken the more extensive family trees dating back four, five, six or more generations. This is because after the first couple of generations memories can begin to fade, and it can be difficult to find relatives who still remember great and great-great grandparents.

That is why written records, like birth records and death records, are so important to the creation of an accurate and complete family tree. Fortunately, many of these birth records are available on the internet these days, often at the web site of the county courthouse or the state government. These online records can be a huge help to those who are starting or completing a family history.

For more difficult to find birth records and death records, there are a number of private companies who specialize in helping individuals find this important information like for instance the online shop operated by Universal Promotions. For a small fee, these companies are often able to provide important details on those long lost relatives. Some of these companies specialize in genealogical research, while others work as more generalized search firms. No matter what their nature, however, these companies can be a big help in filling in the missing branches on that long sought after family tree and getting you the earliest coat of arms or family crest.

The world wide web is, as anyone who spends any amount of time on it can tell you, a vast library of information. The number of web pages that are posted multiplies expansively each day, as does the amount of information that is posted on those pages, making it an almost bottomless source of knowledge that anyone can access. One really good example of information that can be obtained online is Air Force records.

Many families have taken on the task of tracing their family tree and permanently documenting their family history so that their children and grandchildren will be able to look back at it someday and know where they came from. Military service records are an important part of developing a family history. The good news is that Air Force records are easily found online. From Vietnam to Korea to World War II to World War I, there is an abundant amount of information available on veterans of the Air Force. Finding these military service records may fill in that one hole in your family’s story. There are many websites that offer copies of Air Force records and Air Force rings, both items that can serve as permanent reminders to your descendents of the sacrifice and service that your ancestors gave for their country.

Air Force records can be of great interest to museums and, in particular, to historians. Historians often work with museums to develop interactive learning exhibits that students can view. These exhibits can be in the museum itself, or they can be traveling exhibits that move around. Whichever type of exhibit they are, they often include original Air Force records, vehicles, uniforms, and other artifacts.

A big help to military reunion organizers is the ability to locate Air Force records online. An opportunity to reconnect with some of their old military buddies occasionally is something that many veterans look forward to and enjoy immensely. For this reason, these party planners tend to spend a lot of their time on the internet locating these servicemen and sending them invitations.

Planning a reunion is never easy. Factors that may make it difficult include the long period of time that may have lapsed since they had been discharged from military service. Many veterans do not settle down in the same place that their buddies do. Some move very far away and do not keep in touch. Finding a valid and current address or phone number for each of them may be quite hard.

The availability of Air Force records online has made it very easy to locate these veterans. The information that can be found on the internet is used to let them know about the upcoming reunion and may be the sole reason that a military reunion is successful in reconnecting old war buddies.

Air Force records that can be found online may also include information about what kind of benefits are available. Veterans and their families will be able to determine their eligibility for housing loans, burial benefits, and education incentives.

A potential employee’s military background can now be easily verified by doing a simple search online. Employers can search Air Force records on the internet to determine the truthfulness of the applicants statements.

Everyone who uses the internet understands how powerful it can be as a tool for research, and many of us head online first whenever we need to check a fact, find information, or track down a particular person or business. It is true that the internet represents a wealth of information, including all kinds of valuable records including the information on how to purchase your custom military ring.

Military Rings – Vital Records

Tough Soldiers

There are many vital records which can now be found on the internet, including birth records, death records, employment records and tax records. In addition, a great many Army records and other military rings records are available online as well, making it much easier to search through this extensive database.

Military Rings – Army Records

There are many Army records available in digital format, and there are also many ways in which those Army records can be used, both by businesses and by individuals. For instance, many parents are seeking to create a family history that their own children can turn to when they get old enough. The Army records of current and long lost relatives can be used to form a kind of living history that can be very valuable to the lives of these young people. Having a history of the service of relatives can give these young people a great appreciation for their freedom and for the military that helps protect it. Military rings are a great way to show this pride.

In addition to providing a living history, these Army records can help individuals fill in those missing branches on their family trees. Building a family history or family tree is often a daunting task, and vital records like those that can be found online can make this search a great deal easier.

Military Rings – Veteran of the Army

Of course Army records are used by businesses and organizations as well as by individuals. For example, the financial aid officer at a university or college may need to access Army records in order to verify the eligibility of a student for the federal educational benefits that are available to veterans of the armed services. These financial aid officers may access Army records many times during the course of a typical week.

Army records are also routinely used by employers in order to verify and substantiate the military service claims made by job applicants. This verification is important, especially since many government positions give hiring preference to veterans. It is not all unusual for a hiring manager, human resources director or even a business owner to verify these military service claims using Army records and other sources. You can have your unit emblem on the side of you military ring also.

OIF and the Army

No matter what the reason for using these Army records, finding such records is certainly becoming a great deal easier. Before the advent of the internet, finding Army records often entailed a lot of time consuming phone calls and follow up letters, along with weeks of waiting and lots of red tape. With so many Army records now online, however, finding Army records can often be accomplished in a matter of minutes or hours instead of days or weeks. This is certainly good news for military historians, school administrators, business owners and individuals around the country. One of the great deployment gifts is to have the OIF symbol placed on the site of a custom military ring a great display of pride.

Historic Forts of the United States of America!

While travelling around the world we often here people speaking about how wonderful Europe is, steeped in history and buildings so spectular they are breath taking. One can never disagree with this, as you have only to visit Paris and see the wonderful “Eifel Tower”. London has buildings that can take you back so far in time like “London Bridge”, think of how many famous people traversed there. Dublin with its world famous “Kilmainham Jail“, that was the last home to the Irish heros of the 1916 and 1921, and of course Berlin with its famous “Brandenburg Gate” ist auch sehr schon. The list goes on and on, but lets not forget our own country that is the United States. I shall take you on a journey;

Wear It With Pride!

The Journey of Forts State by State;

Starting our trip in the cold of State of Alaska where you still have wild and desolate landscapes, not harmed by us humans as you may experience in other places. The Eskimoes and the Aleut traditions live side by side, and this is where many tourist go to see the Northern Lights. In this State we have three famous forts namely “Fort Greely”, “Fort Richardson” and “Fort Wainwright” which are now used by the US Military. Ft Richardson is close to Anchorage and FT Greely,Ft Wainwright are in the area of Fairbanks.Flying south we land in Washington State the gateway to the Rockies and just beautiful for camping, fishing, hunting and fishing. The volcanos of St.Helens, Adams and Rainer and today Rainer is an active volcano. Washington has a glorious and rugged coastline that can be a wonderful place to swim and take the anual vacation. This state is the home of Ft Lewis where the “1 Corps Hq and ROTC Region Hq” is based. It is situated south of Seattle.

A trip further south takes us through Oregon where we spent a few days, as we could not find any Forts in this state, but we had a splendid time with some lovely hospitable people, Joe and Carrie who were good enough to give some advice on what we should do. So we headed further south on the Interstate 5 and found ourselves in California home of the entertainment and surfing and a temperature that brings out the best in people all year round. But on the otherside of the coin, earthquakes are everyones biggest dread and peoples say that California may experience a very bad one one of these days, but we hope that day will be a long way off. Fort Hunter Legget, Fort MacArthur and the National Training Centre of Fort Irwin all military forts can be visited here providing you have permission from the US Army.

Heading accross into neighbouring Arizona where you can visit the awesome site of the “Grand Canyon” a huge crater eroded away by the Colorado river, here you can hike, bike or camp but whatever you do you will have a treasured memory to comw away with. The famous town of Flagstaff can be visited while your in Arizona, but maksure on any of your visits around this magnificent state you take plenty of water as it gets very very hot. Fort Huachuca ( home of Us Army Intelligence) and Fort Tuthill ( formed as a National Guard Summer Camp and now operated by Luke Air Force Base) can be places of interest while passing through.

Through the dry lands of New Mexico we arrive in the Lone Star state of “Texas” where we meet up with Tony G. and David P. who are quiet the world travellers. They decided to take us under their wing and show us the sites of Texas, first on the list was to sample the great steaks this part of the world has to offer so we end up in the Longhorn restaurant in Killeen a must while in that part of the world. Here we visited the biggest army base in the United States “Fort Hood” home to the 4th InfantryDivision, the 1st Cavalry and the 111 Corps. We also visited the Military Rings shop on base and the Family Crests Store run by Family Roots. Fort Sam Houston, Fort Bliss is also in this very large state and well wort a visit. Dont leave without taking yourself off to San Antonio to visit the Alamo and enter a world of unbeleivable history.

Leaving Texas, I have this strange feeling I will return ( lets see), we rented a car and set off on the Interstate 35 North to Oklahoma where we were told that a Fort was also set up here. Fort Sill near Lawton which is home to (US Army Field Artillery Center) and also operates a recreation area all year round. Oklahoma City has a fine zoo and you can also see buffalo and other wild life roam around the country side. The Cowboy and Heritage Museaum will give you a taste of what life was like in the old west and maybe pick up a valuable collectible.

Further North in Kansas we headed to Kansas City where we stay for a while, cities are not my thing so I head out into the country to experience the great prairies and see the wheat fields and other attractions that are on offer here. Fort Levanworth and Fort Riley are the two Forts in this state. Fort Levanworth is the home of the (US Disciplinary Barracks) and is better place to remain outside of.

When we think of deployments, we can related it to work, study, vocations, but for most when we hear of someone being deployed we automatically think “Military” especially in the present global climate.

Military Support Groups.

Since the 1st world war US Military troops have deployed to foreign soil to defend our freedom, and try to make this world a better place to live for us and our children.

The brave soldiers that make up the US Army from the Cavalry, Airborne, Infantry, Armor, Artillery, Signal, Maintainence, Transportation, Air Defence Artillery, Field Artillery, Medical Corps, Ordnance, Quartermaster Corps, Special Forces, and Military Police have put themselves in the line of fire performing their duties so you and I can live in relative peace and safety.

Military Support for family members and friends;

From the moment one hears that your spouse, partner, son or daughter is being deployed it can be scary, and it creates an empty space in your heart, that you feel will not be filled until that special person returns home to your loving embrace. Deployments can be difficult and will test your strength and resolve, but don’t worry you will get through it and remember you are not alone. I have spoken to countless people who have been left behind to look after the family unit or the family business and the common theme I hear for the majority is the following;

“ I place my trust in my God and pray every day for the safety of my brave soldier and the rest of those who are overseas, and also that I will have the strength to carry on for the duration of the deployment.” For some, prayer is a great consolation.

Military Support help and advice.

 My advice is to link up with help groups, such as the Army Community Service, Spouses of Deployed Soldiers Support Groups, Army Community and Family Support Centre, Fleet and Family Support Division, here you can discuss and share your thoughts and experiences.

The support groups are there to help families left behind due to the mission requirements of the soldiers. The goal of most of these support groups is to share coping skills, to be self sufficient by providing a positive atmosphere for opportunities to learn about the resources that are available to ease the sense of being alone and make separations more bearable.
