With the unfortunate loss of Al Harris and Aaron Kampman for the season following the win over San F

With the unfortunate loss of Al Harris and Aaron Kampman for the season following the win over San Francisco, changes are going to have to be made moving forward to continue playing at the level we were at. Right now, more than ever, is when experienced coordinators with good football minds earn their paycheck. What sort of changes might we see out of Dom Capers?

Replacing Aaron Kampman:

Replacing Aaron might be easier than fans realize. This is one place where the 3-4 scheme really shines. The fluidity of the scheme allows for very different player types to be successful in the outside linebacker role, bringing different skill sets to the table. Many of the players that play OLB have to be hidden by scheme to some degree, and Kampman was no different. Clay is one of the rare 3-4 OLB’s that seems equally at home in virtually any role.

It was obvious that one of the places that Kampman was schematically hidden was in pass coverage. He dropped on occasion, but generally that was limited to little zone drops. He was not left in trail technique coverage on fast TE’s splitting the seam, and did not move over to press and bracket cover a WR. This is in very sharp contrast to Clay Matthews, who is trusted to do all of these tasks.

Kampman was also helped rushing the passer both by occasionally playing a 3-3-5 defense that put his hand in the dirt, and by overall maintaining a consistent launch point without an excess of twisting and stunting. In other words, things that he has been comfortable with. It has helped, though it has limited some of the overall defensive options.

Replacing Kampman most likely will be rookie Brad Jones, though Brady Poppinga and Jeremy Thompson could see time as well. Brad couldn’t be more different than Kampman, which could work to Dom’s advantage in a very big way. Hopefully this is where Dom Capers separates himself from former DC Bob Sanders. Brad is not the kind of player that can or should be plugged in to do the tasks that Kampman did the same way he did them. But on the flipside, he does open up a lot of things that were not previously possible.

Brad Jones is extremely fast and agile, and is especially noted for his ability to drop into coverage. Like Clay he can drop extremely deep from the 3-4 OLB position, and has the ability to stay with WR’s and TE’s, at least when he has some help. Dom almost surely will be much more comfortable with him in coverage, and won’t be consistently making an effort to have him rush the passer, limiting his coverage to the bare minimum as he was with Kampman. Of course the effect of this will be to enable more blitzing/zone blitzing. Clay will likely get to rush more, but I think that the biggest beneficiaries will be the ILB’s, I suspect that we will see them rush a good bit more.

Having been a 3-4 OLB, Brad likewise was not married to a small little plot of land on the line most of his career. I suspect that his launch point will not be as rigid as Kampman’s was, and be more like Clay, who moves around in the formation a great deal. This is greatly aided by the defensive line; they are playing at a level where the OLB’s don’t have to be extra DE’s on run plays, freeing the OLB’s up to shut down any attempts to bounce run plays outside, or pursue the tackle quickly. Every one of our top 4 defensive lineman can hold his ground in the face of a double team. Brad’s quickness will allow Dom to move him around a bit to probe for pass rushing weaknesses, and to allow for more stunting and combo rushing, where instead of an every man for himself, the LDE (typically Jolly) attempts to open a lane for the OLB moreso than plow through himself. The faster the OLB, the more effective that is.

While changes will be necessary, changes can be made to insert Brad Jones into the lineup without a big downgrade in defensive quality. Brad has a different skill set and will have to be used a different way, but the overall effect should hopefully be minimized. however it may change the way things “look”.

Replacing Al Harris:

This should almost be rephrased “replacing Tramon Williams”. Replacing Al should be the easy part, plug in Tramon, but replacing Tramon will be a task.

Dom can go two completely different directions with this. He can do exactly what Bob Sanders did, and literally replace Al with Tramon, placing him at the RCB spot over the split end on the sideline, or he can take the approach to keep Tramon doing what he has been doing, at least in nickle+ defense, only moving him over to Al’s spot on base defense. Either option should be equally viable, the route chosen will largely depend on how Dom adjusts to cope with the changes.

Al’s position at RCB is unique in that the route tree used by most teams is somewhat more limited. Few QB’s roll to their left. The timing of read progressions and pass patterns cuts out a good amount of intermediate routes, and if the QB turns to watch his split end, he is also watching his best pass protector, turning his back on some of his worst.

Though our defense plays all sorts of different coverages, if you had to group them into classifications, Al would be more of a man guy, Tramon more of a zone guy, and Woodson more of a rover. Al played the least amount of underneath zone of the 3. When rolling a S into the box or forward out wide, and using a CB as a S in a cover-2, 3, or 4, (forms of sky and cloud coverage), Al was typically a bail corner covering a deep zone, with LB’s or S’s covering underneath. Tramon bails much less, instead if one corner is used in the short zones more than others, Tramon is that guy. Whereas Woodson does a little of everything, generally in an effort to have him where the offense most wants to go.

When Tramon did fill in for Al last season, he did an excellent job basically doing Al’s job. In fact there seemed to be some differences where we might actually have had better pass defense, as we did run a little more zone during that time, not necessarily becasue Tramon is better in zone, but because he seems at home doing either, whereas Al definitely (at least in Sanders’ defense) was more at home in man.

One thing that we will likely see, with the hopeful return of Chillar soon, and Jones at OLB, is return to sparse dime defense. Prior to Chillar’s injury Green Bay rarely ran dime defense, even agaisnt 4-5 WR sets. The 4th CB did not see the field a whole lot.

If we do put Tramon in Al’s spot and replace Tramon, likely an increased amount of LB/S bracketing will be required. Which could mean less play in the box by Bigby and more zone drops by the LOLB. If we replace Al’s spot and keep Tramon in his, we are probably looking at 2 different players dedicated to the sideline, either CB shallow S deep, or CB deep S/LB shallow in distinct zones.

Whichever direction Dom goes, replacing Al wil surely stress our secondary.

The Potential Positives:

While the negatives of these injuries are obvious, some positives may be taken away.

Tramon will be a free agent again next year. This year he played for just over the tender amount. This is his time to grab hold of the starting job for good (even if Al returns, I don’t think that he will return as a starter). This gives Ted and his staff 6 games to determine just how much Tramon is worth, and if he is a viable starter. I’d like to think, if he makes the most of this situation that Ted will not tag him again, instead giving him a full starting CB contract while his value is still on the low end of starting CB’s.

It also gives Ted a chance to evaluate Bush as a defensive back. I doubt that he gets another chance. He’s been developing too long, this is a seize the moment or go away couple of games for him. If he can hold his own as the 3rd CB, he’ll likely stick. If someone else is given a shot after he is, because he didn’t seize the job, I suspect that this will be his last year. He have replacements at ST gunner now; his hold on a roster spot is much more tenuous than it has been.

With free agency on the horizon for Kampman, few Packer fans seriously thought that he would return to the team. The prevailing though being that he would be franchise tagged and traded (similar to Corey Williams) to a team that runs a 4-3 defense. With this injury he now has very little trade value and almost surely will not be franchised, chances are he simply leaves as a free agent.

This means that Kampman will need to be replaced long term this offseason. That task is much easier if Brad Jones (or Jeremy Thompson/Brady Poppinga) shows that they belong on the field this season, and that they are the long term solution. If not I suspect that free agency and/or higher draft picks will be used to fill this spot.

Young guys stepping up to fill an injury void and impressing is one of the primary ways that players become full time starters in this league. Lets keep our fingers crossed that we have the good fortune of that occurring at both spots for us. The players behind our lost starters are certainly physically talented enough to do so, it remains to be seen thather they put it all together.

Install Add-in. Sekarang install Add-in untuk Microsoft Word dengan Qur’an In Word di komputer Anda. Jika Anda belum punya Add-in Quran In Word, silahkan download gratis disini. Saya sudah menyediakannya. Extract hasil download Anda lalu jalankan aplikasinya.

Buka Microsoft Word. Sekarang silahkan buka program Microsoft Word Anda, Anda akan dibawa ke New Microsoft Office Word Document.

Menu Add-Ins.

(Lihat gambar pertama no 2). About adalah info pembuat Qur’an In Word.

Masukkan Ayat Suci Al-Qur’an. Setelah Anda klik salah satu menu Get diatas, pilih Surat dan ayat yang ingin dimasukkan, pilih bahasa terjemahan dan tafsir (hanya tersedia Bahasa Indonesia). Selanjutnya tekan OK. Ayat Suci Al-Qur’an sudah siap dicetak/print.

Jika Anda menemui kesulitan silahkan tinggalkan komentar dibawah ya, InsyaAllah saya akan bantu sebisa saya..

Albert Pujols won his third National League MVP award today, receiving all 32 first-place votes to become the first unanimous MVP since Barry Bonds back in 2002.

From MLB.com:

Pujols received all 32 first-place votes, good for 448 ballot points. Marlins shortstop Hanley Ramirez garnered 15 second-place votes and 233 points. First baseman Ryan Howard of the Phillies was a close third with 217 points. He was followed by Brewers first baseman Prince Fielder and Rockies shortstop Troy Tulowitzki.

“It’s an award you give to one person, but I believe if it wouldn’t have been for the help my teammates have given me for the past year, I wouldn’t be standing up here,” Pujols said. “I always say, if I could split this award and give a piece to every single player that had an impact with this organization, I would do that.”

It’s the second straight year that Pujols has won the award, and the third time overall. He is the 10th player in history to win three MVPs, and the fifth to win it three times in the National League. He is the 12th player to win back-to-back MVP awards. The last was Barry Bonds, who won it four straight years from 2001-04.

by Kasie Hunt

Centrist Democratic senators will face a barrage of advertising from the left and the right as they return to their districts for the Thanksgiving holiday in the wake of Saturday’s key procedural vote to move comprehensive health reform legislation forward.

Top targets are Sens. Blanche Lincoln, D-Ark., Ben Nelson, D-Neb., and Mary Landrieu, D-La. The Republican National Committee is up with a Web ad today accusing each of betraying different principles by voting to advance healthcare legislation.

Nelson “sold out his principles” and voted to fund abortions, the RNC spot says. It also hammers Lincoln for supporting a public option and Landrieu for voting to proceed after $300 million in extra Medicaid funding for Louisiana was added to the bill.

Lincoln, who faces a potentially tough 2010 re-election contest in a state that has become increasingly Republican in recent years, will hear from both sides in the coming weeks. The liberal coalition Health Care for America Now will begin airing ads in Arkansas, starting Tuesday, thanking Lincoln and fellow Arkansan Democratic Sen. Mark Pryor for voting to move debate forward.

HCAN is also airing an ad attacking Sen. Mike Johanns, R-Neb., for opposing the bill. “It doesn’t mention Nelson, but strategically it’s to show Nebraskans the difference between the two senators,” said HCAN spokeswoman Jacki Schechner.

While the ad will not air on Thanksgiving Day, the group bought extra time during the University of Nebraska’s football game.

Senate Majority Leader Reid, who also faces a difficult re-election fight in 2010, is getting a boost from the Progressive Change Campaign Committee. The PCCC started robocalls Saturday that will continue for the next two weeks urging Reid to push through a strong public option as part of reform. —-

Meanwhile, two key interest groups — the AARP and the American Medical Association — have joined forces to air a national ad backing reform and trying to reassure seniors that the bill will not affect their Medicare. The ad will run from today until Dec. 6, AARP spokesman David Allen said. Lawmakers have worked hard to court the two groups, and endorsements from both in the immediate days before the House vote helped Speaker Pelosi marshal the votes she needed.

My Aromaleigh Hi-Fi Retro Mattes samples arrived today. I had a dozen other things on my to-do list

My Aromaleigh Hi-Fi Retro Mattes samples arrived today. I had a dozen other things on my to-do list that seriously got shoved aside the moment I saw this envelope.

Mattes are one of those things I’m always searching for. Mineral mattes are notoriously difficult to formulate, they either get chalky or you can’t seem to blend them. Some of the last mattes I ran across actually got streaky as I applied them, I assume because they were not quite blended as well as they could be.

The formula on AL’s regular line of mattes, Pure Eyes Mattes, is one of my favorites. It’s buttery smooth and blends easily. The only thing that ever kept me from stocking up was the lack of BRIGHT and crazy shades.

When Kristen first posted previews of her new Mattes I was immediately in love with the retro themed bright colors. So many of these give me instant flashbacks of when I was a kid at my Grandma’s house. She was generous enough to send me a sample set to review.

From left to right : Supermurgatroid, Kookie, Heels on Fire, Daddy-o, Fake Out, Cranked, Smokin’

From left to right : Ankle Biter, Cool It, Cat’s Pajamas, Train Wreck, Got Dibs, In Orbit, In The Mix

From left to right : Radioactive, Real Gone, What’s Shakin, Big Tickle, Spaz, Flip Your Lid

Formula / Colors

The colors swatch just as brightly as they appear in the baggies, something I honestly did not expect. With a good base (I’m using TFSI) they are sharp and vibrant. Some of the shades, while matte, have a bit of a twinkle to them, such as Cranked and In Orbit. It’s very subtle but lends just a bit of depth. The shades come in a wide spectrum of colors, from lights to darks.

They blend well, either into each other to shade or out into your lid for a faded look with no sharp edges. They go on smooth, not at all sticky. They’re not at all chalky or ‘dusty’ and it only takes a little to get opaque coverage, versus having to layer it on to get the colors to pop.

The actual shadow itself is well blended. In a few of the mattes I’ve gotten from other companies in the past they had little bits of what I can only assume was the base sort of floating inside that would leave a white streak when applied. I know AL uses quality machinery to blend their colors, so I have no fear of that here. The minerals are fine smooth.

The colors themselves are really unique. My personal favorites are Spaz, which reminds me of the daisies on the plates my Mom used when I was growing up. Kookie, because it’s an amazing bright pink. Big Tickle, it’s AQUA, so very retro.

Conclusion

Would I purchase more AL’s Hi-Fi Retro Mattes even though I have a full set of samples? Oh heck, yes.

The colors are unique and bright, but there are enough muted shades that there is something for every one.

The formula really surprised me, no splotching.

You can expect to hear more about these shades in the up coming days as I wear them and try them out. My initial thoughts, though, are that they are amazing and I can see so many different people liking these, not just for the formula, but for the colors as well.

A brief note: Please excuse the boredom that may occur from reading a blog entry where there was abolutely nothing to complain about. I will try harder to be displeased the next time.

A couple of weeks ago, the left brained artist himself, Kris Dekker suggested a Tweet Meet. For those of you not in the loop, a Tweet Meet or a TweetUp is a gathering of Twitterers. In this case, we were Twitterers from our church who banter back and forth on any given subject. Take for instance the following exchange:

KD: Without going into much detail, let me say that FiberOne bars are fairly effective
BH: I would not eat more than one FiberOne bar at once. You won’t be able to lead choir tomorrow.
APB: TMI
KD: We live in an infornmation age. get used to it.
APB: The Information Age called, he asked that you not share anything relating to Fiber One bars.
KD: The information age has always been discriminatory against the common man.

If you used Twitter, you would have access to such lofty conversations. We enjoy it so much that when Kris suggested we get together for lunch, how could we refuse? So Kris suggested Momma Goldberg’s located in Inverness. Momma Goldberg’s is originally from Auburn and recently opened two locations here in the Birmingham area. It’s a deli known for steaming sandwiches. I had heard good things from others but had not had opportunity to go until today.

Apparently their signature sandwich is called “Momma’s Love” which is a roast beef, turkey, and ham sandwich. I don’t care for roast beef so I ordered something else. I can’t comment on the “Momma’s Love” but the others at my table who ordered it really enjoyed it. I enjoyed my sandwich. The service was fine. We got our sandwiches quickly. The restaurant was clean. The company was excellent. Darn it if I didn’t actually have a good time!

I’m desperately trying to think of something to complain about in an effort to not make this a complete loss of an entry. Oh yes. I’ve got it. The tables were 24″ or 30″ round tops. That’s hardly conducive to a group. So there. Their tables were round and not square or rectangle. So can I in good conscience recommend this restaurant given their penchant for round tables? Only if you like good sandwiches, quick service, and a convenient location.

Now, if you’d like to be cool like us, get yourself a Twitter account.

By now we know of the injury to Al Harris. Torn ACL out for the year. Now we learn that OLB Aaron Kampman has followed suit. Both have season ending knee injuries.

This all came from a game that had multiple injuries on both sides. OL David Baas, RB Michael Robinson, S Mark Roman and WR Arnaz Battle all went down for the Niners. Not sure on the length or the severity of those injuries at this point in time.

The Packers will seemingly use talented corner Tramon Williams with the first team to fill the void. They will need other guys like Brandon Underwood and Jarrett Bush to step up big time.

As far as Kampman’s spot, the Packers are have a little more depth at the linebacker position. Rookie Brad Jones stepped in a played pretty well against the Dallas Cowboys last week and should see plenty of action. Otherwise, they could go with Brady Poppinga in that spot.

The Packers should hope to figure it out right away. They have a game in three days against Detroit, who are coming off quite the offensive performance this past week.

Today started off just as any other Sunday morning and finished off as any other normal Sunday eveni

Today started off just as any other Sunday morning and finished off as any other normal Sunday evening. In between, we went to Cajun Steamer in Hoover for lunch. This is an unusual pick for us and in fact, it was our first visit there for Sunday lunch. The lovely and handsome couple D&D came along with their super cute baby boy, D-Rain. Also joining us were the equally lovely and handsome couple, Tad & Gina.

Cajun Steamer is, as you might expect, a Cajun themed restaurant located smack in the middle of Hoover. They serve what I can only imagine is authentic Cajun food and it is more than hot. It is ridiculously hot. So hot that it is nearly impossible to finish your meal.

We were seated right away, our order was taken right away, our food was brought out in a timely manner, blah blah blah. Unfortunately, or fortunately (depending on how you look at it, I guess), we received pretty good service. Not great, mind you. While our server was friendly, her service was strictly perfunctory. Oh, and then there was the matter of the added gratuity because we had a party of eight. Reminder: two of the eight were toddlers. A party of eight was a real stretch. That aggravates me.

While we all talked about how we liked what we had ordered, I’ll only speak for myself. I ordered the Shrimp & Grits. This is how it’s described on the menu: Shrimp & Grits… Sauteed jumbo shrimp and tasso ham over creamy cheddar grits. It sounded delicious to me. I wish I had checked Wikipedia for what tasso ham actually was. Not only was it slathered in cayenne pepper, so were the shrimp and grits. You might think that the cheese would temper the heat but in the words of comedian John Pinette: Nay, nay!

I’m not kidding when I testify that the heat of my dish prevented me from finishing it and furthermore, aggravated my acid reflux, and stripped me of the ability to ever taste food again. It’s just plain uncomfortable for your mouth to feel as if you’ve swallowed some kerosene followed by a match. I’m just glad I can type or you might not be able to understand the words coming out of my mouth due to the nerve damage. Note to self: Do not go to Cajun Steamer again.

Some of you may be saying to yourselves: “…but you’re Cuban. You’re supposed to like hot and spicy food.” To that I would answer that I am, indeed, Cuban. I am not Mexican, Cajun, or Thai. All of which add an unecessary heat to all of their dishes. Perhaps they do so in an effort to cover up a less than superior flavor of their food. As in previous posts, I maintain that Cuban food is far and away superior to all other ethnic food. …and there is no heat. Only good seasoning and flavors that allow you to enjoy your meal.

The lesson for today is: Avoid cayenne pepper in bulk quantities. Wait a minute…maybe this is an idea for a new weight loss product. A tablespoon of cayanne pepper once a day will keep you from wanting to eat thus forcing weight loss. Oh man. Don’t tell anyone, ok? I’m gonna be rich!

We were able to provide flats of fresh bread to Brother Bryan and countless warm coats for distribution to those who need it most this winter.

Tonight at 8:00pm, the United States Senate will have its first vote on the Democrats’ health care reform bill. As my colleagues and I in the Senate prepare for this vote I am reaching out to you for support.

I remain committed to opposing any bill that puts your health care decisions in the hands of government bureaucrats while adding more than a trillion dollars to our country’s deficit. Taxpayers simply cannot afford this government takeover of our health care system and this is our opportunity to put an end to it.

That’s why I urge you to add your name to this petition showing your opposition to government-run health care.

We still have an opportunity to stop the Democrats’ public option from becoming law, but I need to know you stand with us in opposition to a government takeover of health care – so, please sign this petition immediately.

The wasteful spending ways of Barack Obama and the Democrats in Congress must be put to an end. Americans are angry and I share your frustration with our current leadership in Washington.

In less than one year, Barack Obama and the Democrat-controlled Congress have increased our nation’s spending by more than 80%.

Our national debt has reached $9 trillion and will only go higher if the President signs a health care bill with provisions for a government-run option. Last month, unemployment surpassed 10%, the highest rate in over 20 years

Recent polls show clearly that Americans are against the health care takeover by Barack Obama and the Democrat-controlled Congress. And these same polls show that Americans understand and are infuriated by policies that are mortgaging our children’s and grandchildren’s future. It must be stopped. We must act now to show our continued opposition to the direction the Democratic leadership is taking our country.

So, please join me by taking action today and follow this link to add your name to our petition opposing government-run health care. Your time and support are always appreciated.

Thank you,

P.S. As the Senate prepares to vote on the Democrats’ health care bill tonight, I’m reaching out to you for support in opposition of government-run health care. Please take a minute to sign the petition we have put together showing your opposition to government-run health care.

Kill the BILL Today – Stop ObamaCare In The Senate!

Alert: We Have the Chance to Kill Socialized Medicine TODAY –

Reid and Senate Democrats announced they will file cloture today on the motion to proceed regarding ObamaCare. He will go to the floor for cloture on the motion to proceed to a House-passed tax bill, to begin the Senate debate on ObamaCare. SEND YOUR FAXES NOW! —

This vote will require 60 votes and will likely occur on Saturday.

Several Democrats have said they will not vote for the bill. Remember cloture is a three day process – file on day one, day two is an intervening day and the vote occurs on day three. Reid is using a House-passed tax bill as a “shell” allowing him to offer up the language he released tonight as a substitute amendment if he gets cloture on the motion to proceed.

Reid’s Senate version of ObamaCare calls for:

Hiding the $1.8 Trillion price tag by not accounting for actual costs.

Major reductions in Medicare befits to seniors.

Major Tax Increases on every American to pay for it all.

Reid called for increasing the Medicare payroll tax.

ALERT: We all know that “ObamaCare — the two thousand page Democrat healthcare bill — passed the U.S. House of Representatives last week… by THREE VOTES.

The radical leftists in the House were able to squeak their bill through…

But we have STILL have a chance to stop them in the SENATE…TODAY!

TELL THE SENATE TO REJECT SOCIALIZED HEALTH CARE
https://secure.conservativedonations.com/ameripac_obamacare3?a=3298

Even after a final barrage of over eighty thousand faxes from our members that POURED in to the U.S. House… a slight majority of Congressmen stilldestroy our freedom in health care. voted to

Those legislators will be feeling the WRATH of voters next year — but WE still have our work cut out for us NOW!

WE HAVE NOT LOST. The bill pushed by Obama, passed by leftist Democrats in the House — and rejected by all but one turncoat Republican — must now head over to the U.S. Senate…

And we CAN defeat it there!

In fact… we can stop this bill COLD TODAY. Here’s how:

Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-NV) last Tuesday laid the groundwork for the Senate’s healthcare reform debate to start TODAY – Tuesday, Nov. 17th. Reid filed a motion to introduce the bill yesterday, Monday, Nov. 16. Anticipating a Republican objection, the bill would be pushed onto the Senate calendar.

BUT… Reid’s action last Tuesday sets up a critical vote this week on a motion to proceed to the bill. Such a motion would require 60 votes to succeed — and there’s a GOOD CHANCE that Reid does NOT have those 60 votes!

Reid needs a majority (51) to pass the motion to proceed so the Senate can begin debating and amending the bill. If Republicans filibuster this motion, he will need 60 votes to invoke cloture and shut off debate.

THIS IS IT — one of our BEST chances to kill this bill, before it even gets off the ground!

TELL THE SENATE TO REJECT SOCIALIZED HEALTH CARE
https://secure.conservativedonations.com/ameripac_obamacare3?a=3298

Remember, this bill is the worst of all possible bills. It’s chock full of every far-left special interest socialistic dream imaginable. Here’s some of what’s in its TWO THOUSAND PAGES:

The CBO estimates that H.R. 3962, the health bill that the House passed, would cost $1.2 TRILLION over 10 years, including the cost to states for mandated Medicaid expansion ($34 billion), the “Doc Fix” ($245 billion), and authorized discretionary spending for grants, public programs, changes and funding for a variety of agencies that would be responsible for implementing H.R. 3962.

The bill protects trial lawyers. The bill gives money (authorized at “such sums”) to states that enact “certificate of merit” (a document signed by a medical professional that says there is a probability that the standard of care was violated) and / or a certificate of “early offer” (an early, confidential apology) laws, as long as the states don’t limit attorneys’ fees or impose caps on damages.

The current version will give billions of dollars of taxpayer healthcare benefits to ILLEGAL ALIENS in America. It would allow illegal aliens to use the new healthcare “exchange” and would not require verification to keep illegal aliens out of the other parts of the proposed federal healthcare system. Members of the Congressional Hispanic Caucus fought back against reports that leaders would add Senate language to block illegal immigrants from participating in the insurance exchange.

It will create a nationwide federal government program, the “public option,” which will pay for abortion on demand — with federal funds, of course, because that is what federal agencies spend.

Liberals in the House AND the Senate ignored us when the majority said, “NO BAILOUT.” They ignored us when the majority said, “NO FAKE STIMULUS.” Now, they’re trying to ignore us when the majority demands with a clear voice, “NO GOVERNMENT TAKEOVER OF HEALTH CARE!”

TELL THE SENATE TO REJECT SOCIALIZED HEALTH CARE
BETTER KNOWN AS “OBAMACARE”:
SEND YOUR FAXES NOW!
https://secure.conservativedonations.com/ameripac_obamacare3?a=3298

We all remember when President Obama stood in front of a joint session of Congress — and LIED. He LIED when he said they weren’t planning to set up “end-of-life panels” — his cronies have promoted

the idea for a long time now. He LIED when he said his “reforms” wouldn’t insure illegal aliens — it has been clearly shown that there would be NO WAY to prevent this from happening. He LIED when he said that his “government option” health care plan would not force taxpayers to pay for abortions — the Obama-backed House bill would explicitly authorize the federal government insurance plan to pay for elective abortions and would explicitly authorize taxpayer subsidies for private abortion insurance.

The American people are TIRED of being lied to — which is why over ONE MILLION of us went to Washington, D.C., to bring the voice of the MAJORITYaren’t going back to sleep… not while our own government tries to cram a socialist health care plan down our throats! to the doorstep of Congress. You see, the “sleeping giant” in America has been awoken… and we

And on top of all of this… the fact remains that we can’t AFFORD this plan! In the face of an estimated $1.85 trillion federal budget deficit for FY2009 and projected trillion dollar annual deficits for the foreseeable future, how can anyone in Congress vote for this health care plan, which will cost over $1 trillion over the next ten years? Plus, Congress is facing at least $53 trillion of unfunded liabilities due to its passage of the previous entitlement programs, Social Security, Medicare, Medicaid, and the recent addition of prescription drug coverage for Medicare. How can anyone in Congress vote for a new entitlement program for health care when Congress has not even begun to face up to this unfunded liabilities problem?

Well, they’re trying to — but WE can stop them, with YOUR help!

TAKE ACTION: Even the Democrats are now admitting that it’s conceivable that we might not even get passage this week on the usually perfunctory motion to proceed to debate. That’s because Republicans will filibuster even that, requiring 60 votes… and there are at least two Democrats who could join that filibuster.

BUT THEY NEED TO HEAR FROM US TO BE CONVINCED!

We CANNOT let the radical liberals in Congress — and the White House – force this plan for socialized health care on the American people! That’s why we’ve set up our website to enable you to send a strong message to every single member of the U.S. Senate, OPPOSING this outrageous plan.

For about what it would cost you in time and telephone charges, you can send Blast Faxes to Democrats, Republicans, Independents — EVERYONE in the U.S. Senate, DEMANDING that they REJECT this socialized health care plan NOW

We CAN do this! In 1993, First Lady Hillary Clinton tried to force a less radical form of socialized health care down our throats, thinking that they could do it since the Democrats controlled Congress AND the White House.

What was the result? 1994, and the Republican Revolution. The liberal Democrats are “shooting themselves in the foot” again by trying to pass even more radical socialized health care this time — but we CAN stop them!

Eric and Alan were 20th century staples. Does this old school smoosh work in the 21st?

Thanks to Charlotte Vera for suggesting Alaric as Name of the Day.

Alaric is Goth. Not the dark eyeliner, Siouxie Sioux Goth. Nope, we’re talking the havoc-making, Rome-sacking Visigoths.

Alaric I ruled the Visigoths early in the fifth century, establishing a new royal line and invading the Eternal City in 410. He was a big deal back then, and you’ll find references to him in art and literature through the ages.

Alaric II came along a few decades later, in 485. In between the two Alarics, Gesalec, Sigarec, Wallia and Thorismund held the throne, among others. Your average Visigoth monarch’s moniker would not wear terribly well circa 2009.

But Alaric is the exception. He sounds like a three-syllable combo platter made up of Eric and Alan, but he’s actually from the Germanic elements ala - all and ric – ruler, or something like “king of all.” It’s a fitting name for the founder of a dynasty.

Besides the Visigoths, there was a legendary king of Sweden called Alrek 0r Alrekr, and often Anglicized as Alaric.

While Alaric has never appeared in the US Top 1000, you’ll find Alaric in the census records. The Latin form of the name – Alaricus – pops up in medieval records, too, suggesting that he’s been in occasional use for generations.

But most modern parents probably discover Alaric in the pages of a book. If not history, then fiction:

Katherine Kountz used Alaric for a character in her long-running Deryni fantasy series – he’s a duke, and a good egg;

Stephen King used it for Roland’s grandfather in his Dark Towers series;

One of Anthony Trollope’s Three Clerks was Alaric Tudor;

PG Wodehouse, best known for his Jeeves & Wooster series, also wrote about the inhabitants of Blandings Castle. The elderly, grouchy Duke of Dunstable is a frequent visitor – and wears the name Alaric.

The British Navy used Alaric for a submarine late in World War II, and at least one Alaric has served the US military with distinction – back during the Civil War, Union Army officer Alaric Chapin was awarded the medal of honor.

It’s difficult to decide if Alaric is over the top in 2009. Gavin and Tristan are Top 100 picks. Boys answer to Sebastian and Julian. Romeo ranked #466 and Orlando #419.

Perhaps the best way to describe Alaric is from the title of one of my favorite user-created lists at Nameberry: My Braver Alter-Ego Would Totally Use These. The list groups Alaric with other gems like Horatio, Junia and Crispin – quirky and stylish, but just a bit less accessible than almost mainstream choices like Asher.

Alaric offers a few nicknames – Al, Rick and Aric are the obvious three. If those don’t thrill you, proceed with caution. While more and more parents use – and prefer that others use – their child’s full name, there’s no guarantee what will happen when your son hits middle school. Or tuck Alaric in the middle spot, where he’d be a good substitute for Alexander.

Then again, what kid wouldn’t be delighted to learn that he was named after a barbarian king?
