Fucking Genies, I use to think Aladdin was my favorite DISNEY movie, but wow.. I was totally wrong.

Fucking Genies, I use to think Aladdin was my favorite DISNEY movie, but wow.. I was totally wrong.

1. Description:

It was a typical night in the world of Brittany. I sat at home in my Aladdin t-shirt, cat in arms, remote control on the couch and of course Aladdin on the T.V. screen. I was so obsessed with Aladdin, it was ridiculous. If you stepped one foot into my room, you would be repulsed. Aladdin was head to toe in my room, tigers all over the bed, each character on my wall, bedspread, wallpaper, pillows, clothes, and ect. Getting to the point, I was infatuated by Aladdin the “movie”.

2. Falling Asleep:

I finished watching the movie and went to bed.

3. THE DREAM:that ruined it all.

It was a beautiful Sunday morning in Orange County, CA. Like any fucking typical day, it was hotter then hell. My brother and I were on our bikes while riding through our elementary school. We were racing to see who could get through the bicycle licensing course first, without breaking the rules. I mean hello, guess who won….I DID! Shock, right? Well anywho, back with it, Kyle was extremely angry with me so he decided to ride off, and the next thing I knew was it was dark. Somehow, I ended up in my neighbors backyard next to a pool. Who do I see in the pool, I see my brother(let me inform you, he doesn’t know how to swim). My stomach instantly sank to the bottom of the tank, I had no idea what was going on. To the right of me was the Genie from Aladdin. He was holding my brother hostage. Their was no possible reason why Genie wanted to kill him. My mind was about to explode, how could this magical creature want to kill my brother? What the fuck is going on I asked myself. I remember going at Genie forcefully with his lamp. Then he whipped up into a tornado; he was the scariest tornado I’ve ever seen. He was like smoke with a red shift, and then it turned into a black hole. Then he blew a gush of wind at me and I flew through the air and hit the brick wall, damaging my scalp a little. I remember touching the back of my head and there was blood all over it. I said, “That’s it GENIE! Your going to die!” Somehow a light saber was in my hand and the only way I could kill the genie was to stab him in the back and then flush the pool. Well it had to be done, it was like I was in the matrix, I went through the air like a bird soaring through the sky. I stabbed him in the back and did a back flip onto the “flusher”. The pool went crazy, it was like a whirl pool and both my brother and I got sucked in, we fought for our lives, but we ended up both dying.

4. After:

I woke up crying because not only did my brother and I die. I now look at the Genie as an evil monster. What the hell, despite the sick innuendo’s Disney offers to the young public, I thought I could count on Genie to not become such a horrible sight.

5. Fuck off Aladdin.

This was so long ago. Not a very good description, but will do for now.

It never rains, it pours.

Next up in my pantheon of stardom is John Altman, best-known as Nasty Nick Cotton from out of off of off of EastEnders.

Where are the little gems? Behind you!!!

I’d been meaning to mention the panto at Stevenage and John has forced my hand. So there I am in Tesco getting some bits for my son’s birthday party and who’s that inspecting the lettuce – my new best pal John. He’s playing the lead in Aladdin at the Gordon Craig Theatre, cultural beacon of Stevenage and the one landmark you could pick out from the train if you were just passing through.

Must be opening night soon. So are they putting John up in a swanky hotel somewhere nearby (the Ibis is perilously close) or have they found him a nice place to rent for a month? My money’s on the latter.

Checking a YouTube interview, John says he’s staying up in Henlow – that’s about 20 minutes away. Still reckon it’s a house.

In the meantime, you can keep up with rehearsals with this fascinating behind-the-wall, fly-on-the-scenes video-blog!

<GONG>

THE LYCHEE TOILETS EXPERIMENT: Trial 1 = FLAVOUR

Go ahead. Let your imagination run wild. What kind of experiment would possibly combine lychee with toilets? Maybe for cleaning, or sanitizing, or even, dare I say…for FLAVOUR?
…Now, I don’t know what you’re thinking in terms of flavour, but let me say, that I’m just thinking in terms of the “flavour” of aesthetics haha.

Okay, I’m completely lying. I have no idea what I mean by “flavour” either. It just seemed to fit really well with lychees (which do have lots of flavour), and toilets (which probably do not have much flavour…I would think you have not tried…Though I suppose you could ask your dog or cat. But that depends how well you can communicate with your animal. After all, if you can’t speak “canine-nese, or feline-nese”, how can you really know if your pet enjoys the flavour from the cleanest water in the house?…ahem.)

Hmm.. I also have no idea how to combine lychee with toilets, though I suppose I could come up with all sorts of ways. The experiment is just my little psychology thing to see whether the combination of lychee and toilets is enough to get your attention to shift your focus away from your either really fun or really busy life. Stop paying attention to the daily complexities of your life and enter a world of senseless, fantastical nonsense–The world of my Blog. Haha. Then again, if you’re already “living the dream”, well, God Bless you…that’s a great attitude to have…and may my oddly entertaining blog add some nonsensical wonder to your existence

Ok, so here’s an idea: Offer your comments. Be creative.

What do you think about when you hear the words “Lychee Toilets” + “Flavour”? I’ll post my thoughts too eventually

But for now. Here’s a random picture of a toilet shaped house. Maybe surrounded by lychee trees?

I’m not sure exactly how many films I’ve seen in my lifetime.

It is probably over a thousand, the list below barely scratches the surface of all the films I’ve seen and it was surprisingly easy to come up with. Rather than systematically list films by era or genre I got my brother’s girlfriend Dawn to call out any films she could think of.

I thought of this idea about five minutes before I began typing and Dawn rattled off films as they came to her while I typed out brief verdicts for each one. I initially intended to create a system for rating but found it too restrictive so I just wrote a brief instinctual verdict for each one.

I have included a link to Rotten Tomatoes and the score of each film, I haven’t seen some of these movies in a very long time…

NOTE: The percentages at the end are not my scores but the percentage of positive reviews on Rotten Tomatoes.

Who knew he was so in demand? In fact, this site received one of its very first visits because someone typed in “jason mraz penis” in a search engine. We couldn’t ask for more.

To our amusement, Foxy Academy has appeared as a result in the following Web searches:

Suck.

However, when I went to pour my first cup of coffee out of it – @#$* – coffee all over the work on my desk. What was Aladdin thinking – did they even test this product? It dribbles out of the bottle right down the side TERRIBLY! I ended up scanning the net for my older model (which apparently is a closeout now) and bought 4 of them to be sure I’d have a proven winner for many more years to come.

Hello All (or Few), Mon & Michelie thanks for the comments MMSB, I’m with you on the Beck

Hello All (or Few),

Mon & Michelie thanks for the comments MMSB, I’m with you on the Beck and Dylan, but was surprised to see Death Cab. Don’t get me wrong, I love them, but they’re not quite ATT5 caliber for me. Mon, we all know that your ATT5 might include Janet and Mariah. That’s okay, I know you just wanna jam (see p.s.).

This past weekend was perfectly chock-full of two of my very favorite things: family and food. My Mom celebrated a rather notable birthday and my sister and I helped her host a luncheon for all of the wonderful women in her life. This was really just a great excuse for family to come into town and for all of us to eat our way through the weekend – was I the only one to feel this way?

Friday: 35th Street Bistro in Fremont. Go there.

Saturday: Dahlia Lounge (a la Tom Douglas), Pagliacci pizzas at home, and ending the night at Tavern Law on Capitol Hill.

Sunday: after a squall of a walk around Golden Gardens, we warmed up with some Irish Coffees at Ray’s happy hour. Later I went to Monica’s fantastic pre-Turkey Day Thanksgiving meal (thanks for the mass amount of mashed potatoes Mon!).

Thank god I’m not one to count calories, because those 3 days did some damage. So completely worth it…mmmmmmm.

Alright, on to business. Although Halloween has come and gone, it is one of my favorite holidays, so I figure I can talk about it whenever I want. There is something about that perfect Halloween costume. You know the one. It is so completely opposite of your personality and yet so on. Or maybe you end up having just too much fun and it actually impacts your wardrobe for the following few weeks into November.

That is exactly why I am counting down my ALL TIME TOP FIVE HALLOWEEN COSTUMES (in no particular order):

Dorothy from The Wizard of Oz – 1990?

Aladdin (thats right, not Jasmine, Aladdin.) – 1992?

a baseball – 1994?

Double Dare contestant (1 of 6; Red v. Blue) – 2008

1960s Mad Men secretary – 2009

Other contenders include a vampire, a yam, a member of the USF Drinking Team AKA “Bad News”, and the Angel of Death.

Me, Thomas, and Abby

Halloween 2009 (or should I say 1963?) was pretty outstanding. Imagine walking into a room filled with people dressed to the nines in 1960s garb? Needless to say I was in heaven.

Stay classy and thanks for stopping by.

It took me about 20 years, but I finally figured out where my strange cinematic attraction to the ly

It took me about 20 years, but I finally figured out where my strange cinematic attraction to the lyin’, cheatin’, stealin’, no-good, lowdown tricksters, sheisters and baddies comes from.

Walt Disney, if you’re eavesdropping from the Great Disney Vault in the Sky, I blame you for this.

Disney, you see, got me hooked on villains at an early age (“The Sword in the Stone” remains My First, so naturally it holds a special place in my heart). And not just one kind of villain — all kinds. The mind reels at the sheer volume of creative and unique villains Disney films have introduced over the years. They range from the purely evil (Scar, Shan-Yu, Cruella De Vil) to the snarky tricksters (Jafar, Prince John) to the just plain cool (what’s cooler than a pirate?). When it comes to cranking out new and exciting villains, Disney has — or at least had – the market shaking and quaking in the corner.

And now, coasting in on a killer wave of nostalgia, let’s take a look at the great Disney villains of the past half-century or so:

1. Scar, “The Lion King”

It goes without saying that plotting the death of your own brother while leading your young nephew to believe it was his fault sends you straight to the top of the Cold-Hearted Snake Ladder of Villainy.

2. Cruella De Vil, “101 Dalmations”

Plainly put, any woman who’d stuff puppies in a sack, drown them and then use their skins to make a coat is right up there with Michael Myers in terms of sheer ruthlessness.

3. Maleficent, “Sleeping Beauty”

Because anybody who can pull off lines like “You poor simple fools. Thinking you could defeat me, ME! The Mistress of All Evil!” while looking so effortlessly sleek and stunning deserves the utmost respect. And fear.

4. Shan-Yu, “Mulan”

Hulking, skulking marauder and village torcher Shan-Yu, with his total lack of morality and anything resembling compassion, will put the fear of the Huns in you (and a few arrows in your back, too).

5. Shere Kahn + Kaa, “The Jungle Book”

What we have here is a perfect combination of brute strength (Shere Kahn, all claws and big, pointy, nasty teeth) and unfathomable cunning (Kaa, unafraid to dust off that Snake in the Garden routine). Disney knows better than to sully the perfect odd couple.

6. Ursula, “Little Mermaid”

Part made man/wiseguy, part behind-the-scenes mastermind and schemer, part wise soothsayer — is there anything Ursual the Sea Witch can’t do? Of course not. It’s not fair, but life’s tough, innit?

7. Jafar, “Aladdin”

There are gangland enforcer-type villains, and then there are soliloquizing, sarcastic loonies like Jafar, reedy evil geniuses who pull the strings from behind the curtain. It’s badness without the beefcake-ishness.

8. Prince John, “Robin Hood”

Bad guys who find time to sling out witty repartee in-between running amock and perpetrating bouts of skullduggery? So much more intriguing than the lamebrained strongarms.

9. Madam Mim, “The Sword in the Stone”

Crazed sorcerers are hard to beat (see No. 3 on this list), particularly when they have a penchant for shapeshifting and know their way around some hard-core alliteration.

10. Captain Hook, “Peter Pan”

He’s a pirate (you know, eyepatch, parrot on the shoulder, “avast ye landlubbers!”?) with a hook for a hand. Need I say more?

Honorable mentions: The Evil Stepmother, “Cinderella”; Queen/Witch, “Snow White”; Hunter, “The Fox and the Hound”

With time, maybe this blog will be able to get to the bottom of what makes us too arab. Like using Arabic phrases without caring if you know Arabic or not. Other words that will fly out at you while speaking to an Arab in English include: inshalla (God willing), habibi (my love), la ya ammi (no, my uncle). These and many others will be explained in due time.

P.S. While recounting the dream to Frank, he came up with the pirate name Singood. I thought, that sounds like something out of porn. It probably is, though I’m not tempted to look it up.

<GONG!>

Christmas Cows & Cannibal Cows

Ahhh..to be a Christmas Cow. How sweet would that be? But, I’m not sure I would want to be a human-eating, Cannibal Christmas cow..that would be wrong..and gross. Why did I mention that disgusting-ness? You’ll find out at the end. So be sure to keep riding the Christmas Cow on your journey through this blog.

~Last weekend I got a chance to check out some of the really neat Christmas lights around Oxford Circus on the way to church (@ All Soul’s Church this time). It was pretty fantastic, and the pics I have here are the best I could do with my little, but serviceable “point & click” camera. Maybe one day when I want to splurge the cash on a really nice camera and take some formal training just for fun, I can take some really awesome pictures that would really make the cows call home. Moo!!

Anyway, these “Christmas Carol” lights were part of that whole “Christmas Switch-on” thing. But marketing gimmick or not, it still seemed pretty neat and really created a nice magical aura to the the Oxford Circus (which is typically a shopping haven for Londoners).

More Christmas Carol goodness

Ahhh. good times. More Christmas Carol stuff here. Hmm…does this seem like an unusually normal Blog post to you?

It does eh?

Especially how I’m just talking about Christmas lights…

…while including lots of space between bits of text…

Indeed. it is true. It is rather…normal, eh?

….Perhaps then I should briefly mention that I finally found….

my Toilet brush!!! It was only £1. “only”. But still cheaper than everywhere else. A very important tool I must say.

Ok. Well…hmm…I really have not much else to say…Maybe I’ll just stall your time by just throwing a whole bunch of pictures at you. How’s that?

Ooooo….

Blue is cool

This was a cool lucky shot.

Christmas Cows…

Random words of nothingness.

Woo…….Impressed aren’t you? I am too.

Not bad for a complete amateur, eh? haha

Looks like I have potential.

Wow. Fancy Schmancy. Where are the Christmas cows?

Random fellow photographer with probably a $1000 camera doing the same thing I was doing. Anybody want to donate a camera like that to me?

Even I don’t know.

But aren’t you inspired by these words along Carnaby Street?

Love. Hope. Joy. Peace.

Hmm…..

Hmmm…….

I can hear your voice………. Hmmm…Do Re Mi…..

Pink Reindeer. 'Nuff said.

haha. Nah, I’m not going crazy just yet. Just keeping you entertained while I throw random pictures at you.

..Once upon a time…

there was a Christmas cow…

and this Christmas cow was related to a Pink Reindeer….

Cool store display, eh? Freaky, but cool.

….who, coincidentally, was related to weird Bee-Zombies.

Yes.

Somehow, this makes sense.

With that…

I will leave you with another bizarre picture from Ripley’s Museum’s front entrance…

Eaten!!

Yes.

That is a giant, inflated Mascot (Scottish mascot?) eating an

innocent bystander woman’s face.

Yahh..I know. The Scottish mascot has nothing to do with a Cannibalistic Christmas Cow.

But maybe…maybe…Someday, they will all fit together.

Ahhh…Don’t you love Christmas Cows…??

<GONG!>
