The me being the lazy me, I finally read the remaining portion of ‘The Alchemist’ last night. I won’t say that the book is great, or anything, but the whole idea of ‘moving on’ with life and ‘prioritizing’ stuff  for oneself is wonderful. It is indeed an OK read. So the radio kept playing the whole night, like I talked about it in my last post. Great songs followed back to back. And I thought I must put them up here. Record sake atleast.

I needed something with a positive message to come this way. I’ve been feeling like shit lately. Luckily i stumbled upon this joint in my itunes. Thank you EV & Alchemist. I’m now looking forward to tomorrow. Peace

Edward settled back in the chair he was bound to. To say that he was tired would be an understatement. He was exhausted, plain and simple. The men who’d taken him had kept him awake since he’d arrived at the deserted building they were keeping him in. He’d had a short nap between his home and this place but that had been hours ago.

“How old are you?” one of his captors asked firmly.

His respite was over, it seemed. “I’m twenty-seven,” Ed replied. “I was born February the tenth, nineteen eighty-two.” He gave the false year without any pause. He’d practiced the statement innumerable times with his friends and descendants. “I was born at my parent’s home in Germany.”

“You’ve said that before,” the man said softly.

“I’m gonna keep on saying it until you believe me,” he snapped. He closed his eyes again and asked, “What do you want with me?”

“You were not born in nineteen eighty-two. You were born circa the year nineteen hundred, perhaps in Germany – but perhaps not,” the man disagreed. He thrust a picture in front of Edward’s nose.

He recognized the men in the photo. He’d studied rocketry with them for almost two years. Alfonse Heidrich stood closeby him. Ernst was on his other side. It had been taken almost four months before Alfonse had been killed by a Nazi bullet. He studiously tried to keep his expression neutral as he said, “That’s a pretty old picture, huh?”

“You are in that picture,” the man said in a firm, calm voice. “You didn’t even bother to change your hair style since then. Almost eighty years and you haven’t grown an inch.” The phrase was meant to needle him. There was a time it would have done just that. He apparently kept his face calm enough because the man continued, “More importantly, you haven’t aged a year.”

“I’m twenty-seven,” Edward repeated. “I’m nowhere near a hundred; as I would have to be if that was me in that photo. That’s not me. It’s some kind of… ancestor or something.”

“Of course,” the man said softly. He turned away to let Edward rest for a moment or two at least before the whole thing began again.

I’ve been planning and trying to post stuff in here but couldn’t! The hard disk of may laptop crashed last week and I’ve been handicapped since then. However, I did (am doing) a lot of stuff apart from just staying online and waste my life away!

To begin with, I managed to read a book after like ages. I read ‘Two States’ by Chetan Bhagat. I quite liked it as it was on the lines of ‘Five Point Someone’ which I had really liked. It surely would raise a few eyebrows as not everyone loves his stuff, may be because they think its too naive, but I kind of find it excellent, specially for people like me who aren’t voracious readers. The whole concept in the the novel and also the humor was quite impressive.

I’ve finally picked up ‘The Alchemist’ which had been lying on my desk since ages. I’m half done with that short novel and will be completing it by this evening itself.

Oh that reminds me of how much college and classes have I been missing lately, or rather the whole of this semester. Tonight I shall give myself a good talk to start attending classes from tomorrow morning. 8:15 class tomorrow? Oh damn! But yeah, on a serious note, I shall attend classes, henceforth!

I’m missing my laptop a lot. It had been a best friend for quite some time now. Best Friend, True Friend, Special Friend…. hahaha! However, I do manage to use my friend’s laptop and reach on to my online social networking and etc etc.

I watched ‘A Lot like Love’ on my friend’s laptop (like for the 10th time now) and it always feels like the first time. Infact better! I love the song ‘Look what you’ve done’ by Jet which features at almost the end of the movie and I kept playing it again and again! Watching it close over and over again! A Lot like Love!

And the best part was the treat I gave myself day before. I felt fucking alone the other day and thought that it was some time that I went out by myself and treated myself. So I went to this ‘one of my favourite places in Calcutta‘, called Momo Hut and fed myself with some awesome Tandoori Chicken and Chicken Soup. Headed straight over to a nearby multiplex to watch the movie 2012 and really loved it. I liked a movie after a really long time. The way they showed the cities going down was very very fascinating. There are a few glitches in the movie and the concept but this long movie keeps you at the edge of the seat throughout. Atleast I was!

And then I watched ‘17 again’ last night, and Mathew Perry is awesome. He always was. I want to watch F.R.I.E.N.D.S. again!

Its December, and time seems to be running away. I’m looking forward to Brio where I plan to enjoy myself as much as I can. And of course, the new years would soon come over as well. A lot to look forward to.

Sinopsis:

La historia se sitúa en la década de 1910, en una realidad muy parecida a la nuestra, pero en la que la alquimia es posible, practicada y vista como una ciencia, por lo que se debe obedecer sus principios. Trisha, la madre de Edward (Ed) y Alphonse (Al) Elric, muere de una enfermedad cuando ambos son niños. Los dos tienen un gran talento para la alquimia y deciden resucitarla mediante la transmutación humana, una rama alquímica prohibida. En el intento, Ed y Al pagaron un enorme precio: Ed perdió su pierna izquierda, y Al perdió su cuerpo, por lo que su hermano Edward, para que no muriera, sacrificó su brazo derecho y usó su propia sangre para escribir un círculo de transmutación en una armadura que había cerca y así poder atar el alma de su hermano a la misma.

Despues de ese incidente, más decididos todavía a aprender la transmutación humana (esta vez para recuperar el cuerpo físico de Al y las extremidades de Ed), ambos hermanos se marchan para convertirse en Alquimistas Estatales, que es el nombre que reciben los alquimistas que sirven al Führer. Su destino final es hallar la Piedra Filosofal, una misteriosa gema que se dice es capaz amplificar infinitamente los poderes del alquimista y además de hacerlo, ignorar las reglas de la alquimia y su principio del intercambio equivalente: “El hombre no puede crear nada sin dar algo a cambio, para tener, algo de igual valor debe perderse; ésta es la primera ley de la alquimia, la ley del Intercambio Equivalente”

Mr. Porter was interviewed last night and he spoke on Eminem’s upcoming Relapse 2 album! He confirmed that the album is finished and will release in early 2010, He also went onto say Royce Da 5′9 will be on the album and the album is like sequel to the Marshall Mathers LP! Today I read/listened to the rest of my favorite book, and it ended just as I got into my car at the end of running.  (For those of you who have never read it, the above passage is not the end of the book, just a part I liked today.)  I’ve been wanting to read another of his for the longest time, but honestly I’m kind of afraid to.

The power of this book, plus being sick all week, plus work with little sleep today, has put me in a trippy mood in the best possible way.  Sometimes it’s nice to dig beneath all the shit life piles on and reflect on everything that is so wonderful and important in the world.  Right now, in my drowsy sleepiness, post-run stinkiness, and ever-present brokeness, all I can feel is great.

I suppose the only downside, which isn’t much of a downside, of reading it is that it leaves me wondering what my Personal Legend is.  I don’t recall recurring dreams or ambitions in any particular direction at any point in my life so far.  I, like most people, usually don’t know what to do with myself.  But I do know whom I love, and when a time comes to chase after something I’ll have that.  And that’s more than I could ever ask for.

Anyone have something they want to go after?  The crazier, the better.  Or maybe something you’ve already lived out?

I think a lot more of life makes sense in retrospect.

Another brilliant song which I just recently listen to comes from the soundtrack of Full Metal Alchemist Brotherhood. It is Golden Time Lover by Sukima Switch which provide us with groovy kind of rythm into this song.

This song is really hype that I keep rewinding this song over and over again in my bedroom. Energetic and passion are the two words that can describe this song. Very suitable for FMA as well since the song is about grabbing a chance and make it a winner.

The sports theme in the PV is not bad at all and I like the story that is presented in the music video. Very suitable and I can’t believe that I see a rare breed of high quality music video from Japanese musician (You know, Japan is not the best when creating a music video).

Anyway, I like the song and for you who haven’t heard it, you are getting behind a very cool song. Enjoy!
