Art has no words, neither a necessary meaning. Aleksey is the Photographer and Marina is the designer from Russia and a part of the International federation of Artists.

If you imagine looking at the ground,and then moving your eyes up to a shopping window; you’ve gone from the option of anything and everything to a set idea of what is happening to be worth something right now. Then imagine looking further up and discovering Art and Photography. That reminds us life is always a mess, and there are people out there who try and put it into perspective.

Their work is inspiring and tough. They do all their work on their own, no matter how artistic they’re making it to be. This means that they even edit their Photo’s themselves. Although, they create the effects manually on negatives without the use of computers. When doing everything on your own, you’re saying no to help through attention and people on your own level.

Some of the categories they divided their work in to are: Erotica, Gothic, Beauty, Strange Games, X-Files, Expression, Fantasy, Dream.

Erotica is internationally known as the distinction of body types, and sexual desires. Gothic is an underground life, which appears as dark. In actuality it is an innocent underground culture that have fair opinions amongst each other. Beauty is undefined, and usually it puts everything in to motion while what is beautiful itself stands still and is in retrospect an illusion of what is modern behind a lot of fear.

It Beauty also allows freedom to make a fool out of concept and make silly out of what once seemed complicated or only belonging to one persons “mind, life and ideas”.

Strange Games is a way of separating themselves from the games we know. There are games that always are played, and those of that people prefer winning all the time, because when it assures you a lot of people played the same games, you’ll have more people on your side; not to forget that each individual, despite this still differs from the other, but that it’s not necessary to display the exact difference all the time. A strange game is not clear on when you have actually won and could be something in the lines of :”I gave you a game, now play it!”.

X-Files, in the language of Art could mean digging deeper in to where you shouldn’t go just by using sexuality and emotions. It could also be the untold truth that just like every other truth needs investigation and time, and to be expressed and told as proper and clear as possible. Expression is used a lot in Arts and Photography, and looking at all the other categories, it is probably more mainstream in this case. Fantasy and Dream are two different categories.

A fantasy is something you choose to believe while a dream is somewhat a collective consciousness or a way to escape in to your own thoughts when unaware. Daydreams and fantasies that lead peoples ideas further and closer to a form of artistic project, life or result in for example a photograph.

Aleksey and Marina have won prizes such as the Grand-Prix Trophy Victoria Trierenberg Super Circuit 2011.

I love the colors and the ideas of the photos. Every shot is magical in it’s own way whether it be gorgeous shots (like the one above) or, since it is fashion, a little weird and different.

I’m not so sure.

Sometime around 1976, I trotted off to nursery school and discovered I was one of many girls named Amy.   And thus was born a life long obsession with names.

My mother’s one and only baby name book – the guide she thumbed through while naming all four of her children – eventually fell apart beneath my grubby mitts.

“Why,” I’d query my long-suffering mother, “didn’t you call me Chantal?”

“Really,” my  mother would reply.  “Would you really want to be Chantal?”

I would think about it, scan the page again and ask, “How ’bout Chandra?”

At this point she would ship me outside to play.  Sometimes I took the book along and rechristened my dolls things like Faustine.

Years later, I found myself having similar conversations with my husband-to-be.  “No.  We can’t name our kid Caradoc.”

“Maybe Julius?”

“Do we have to talk about this now?  Why not wait until you’re actually pregnant?”

I kept raising the subject, and eventually we reached The Great Naming Compromise of 2001.  We would name our firstborn son after his father (Alexander) and our firstborn daughter after my mother (Clarina).

But it wasn’t quite that easy, not even after the ultrasound tech declared it was a boy.

“What will we call him?” I asked.

“Alex,” my husband replied.

I mulled it over.  Name aficionado that I’ve always been, I knew two things: first, Alexander was already a Very Popular choice.  (It ranked #15 in 2004, the year our son was born.  By last year, Alexander reached #6.  And that’s not counting the just-Alexes, the girl-Alexes, or the creatively-spelled-Alexxes and Alyxes.)  My husband veto’d Alasdair.  (“We’re not Scottish.”)  He didn’t even want to consider Evander or Iskander, though I argued that they were quite close.

My fail safe was this: the list of nicknames for Alexander took up a paragraph, even in that old, much-thumbed through baby name book from my youth.

Factor in my husband’s roots – his parents came from Poland not long before he was born – and I figured I could push an unconventional nickname.  “Is Alexei the Polish nickname for Alexander?”  I asked, innocently.

“I’ll ask my mom,” he replied, but never did.  I looked it up, and found Aleksey listed as the Polish nickname.

Done, I thought triumphantly.  All over but the spelling.  Alexy, maybe?  Would that be a good compromise?  I thrilled every time an ESPN reporter mentioned a hockey player named Alexei.  My husband is a Huge Hockey Fan.  Surely, that would sway him.

Our son arrived and two things happened:  first, it turns out that you don’t have a second to think about your child’s nickname.  Everyone wants to know, pretty much immediately.  And if you don’t tell them, they just assume that the most common nickname is the one you’re using.

Second, much to my surprise, my in-laws called their firstborn grandchild Oluš – oh LOOSH.  In some parts of Poland, Aleksander might be Aleksey.  But in their region?  Nope.  Loosh was cute, but I couldn’t introduce my kid as Loosh.  As for Sasha, another possible diminutive, it was veto’d as “too Russian.”

Friends also chose Alexander around the same time, with the intention of calling their kiddo Xander.

But somehow we each ended up with an Alex.

I didn’t fuss about it at first.  Because Alexander/Alexei/Aleksey/Alexy/Alex had another name in mind: Aly – the name he’s used for himself since he could first talk.

Over the past not-quite-five years, Aly has stuck.  He’s aggressively boyish with wild curling hair.  The name he chose for himself is simply the right name.  And I respect that.

But I recently had to register Aly/Alex/Alexei for summer camp.  At a loss about what name to put on the form, I asked my son, confident that Alexei would win.  He’d insisted Alexei appear on his hockey jersey.  He tells me that he’s Alexei.

This time?

Alex, he said.

My heart broke.

I fetched from camp a few days ago, and when the head counselor called Alex, more than one little head swiveled.  My son popped up, along with another little boy.

“We’re both Alex,” said the other boy.

Then they hugged.

“Yeah,” Aly added.  “I’m Alex Sandel.  Then there’s Alex Smith, and Alex Jones, and this is Alex Jackson.  Plus there’s Alex Hunter, but he’s BIG!”

As we left camp, I queried my son.  “There are lots of Alexes,” I said.

“Uh-huh.”

“Are you sure you want to be Alex?  You can be Alexei.  You could be Aly.  Or we could choose another name.”

He looked at me like I had three heads.  “No.  I’m Alex.”

And so we’ve come full circle.  My mother hated her unusual name, I hated my super-common name and my kid?  He’s perfectly happy to be one in a crowd.

Alex still doesn’t come out of my mouth – to be honest, I don’t think it fits him as well as Alexei.  And Dad calls him Aly.  (Which could read feminine in some circles, but in Washington DC, reads more like the Arabic Ali – in fact, our Muslim neighbors did a double-take when they met him.)

I’ve read before that kids like having common names, but I’ve never believed it – it was so very opposite my experience.  But my husband – who grew up Arthur in a sea of Jasons and Michaels – tends to agree with my mother, a Clarina amongst Marys and Janets.

Aly’s name remains fluid.  We ordered his new lunchbox with “Alex” stitched on.  But he continues to answer to Aly and Alexei.  Who knows?  Maybe it will always be that way.  I can live with it, for now.

But when Clio comes home and wants to know why I didn’t name her Madison?

That’s gonna be a bad day.

En las últimas semanas Aleksey Bragin se está dedicando a arreglar nuestro USB stack. El USB stack que proviene de un tercer proyecto(abandonado en estos momentos) fue incorporado hace bastante tiempo a nuestro árbol. Al incorporarlo se pensó que habíamos solucionado nuestro problema del USB de un plumazo,sin embargo era muy incompleto y lleno de Bugs.

Gracias al gran trabajo de Aleksey Bragin, ahora parece que el soporte USB comienza a resurgir. Todavía está muy verde,y aún no se encuentra activado por defecto,pero en breve existirá soporte para ratones y teclados USB en ReactOS. Así pues, uno de los principales obstáculos será,esperemos, en breve, salvado.

El USB Roadmap que se ha marcado es el siguiente: Mouse,USB, Dispositivos de Almacenamiento.

Un Roadmap bastante lógico, teniendo en cuenta que la mayoría de los ratones actuales usan conexión USB, mientras que muchos de los teclados aún siguen usando PS2.

Es probable que para la versión 0.3.9 podamos tener los Ratones USB funcionando.

Sonido en ReactOS:

Otra de las carencias de ReactOS es el sonido. Hasta el día de hoy ReactOS era incapaz de reproducir sonido alguno.Sin embargo, y gracias al trabajo de Silverblade y Janderwald,se están haciendo rápidos avances y actualmente ya podemos reproducir sonido con ciertas limitaciones.

Janderwald se está encargando del modo Kernel del Audio que sigue la arquitectura de sonido NT 4, mientras que Silverblade sigue desarrollando el modo usuario del mismo.

El RoadMap fijado es:

– Reproducción de audio Wave.

– Grabación de audio Wave.

– Soporter para el Mezclador.

– Soporte para dispositivos auxiliares.

– Salida MIDI.

– Entrada MIDI.

Actualmente están trabajando para dar soporte a las tarjetas de sonido SoundBlaster y Realtek AC97.

GOALS 0.4.0:

En el antiguo RoadMap se señalaron dos implementaciones (Hitos) necesarios para saltar de la serie 0.3.x a la serie 0.4.x, y éstas fueron: Sonido y USB.

La serie 0.3.x es considerada como Alpha,mientras que la serie 0.4.x será considerada como “Pre-Beta”(aún se está discutiendo el término exacto).

Aunque ctualmente dicho RoadMap está obsoleto, es la única referencia disponible hasta la fecha, y es bastante probable que una vez se tenga el Sonido y el USB funcionando se salte a la versión 0.4.0.

Con un punto de optimismo, es probable que podamos disponer de la versión 0.4.0 tras la versión 0.3.9.

La versión 0.3.9 tiene como fecha de salida Abril de 2009.
