Wonder how he got the explosive material on the plane? TSA?

DETROIT – A Northwest Airlines passenger from Nigeria, who said he was acting on al-Qaida’s instructions, set off an explosive device Friday in a failed terrorist attack on the plane as it was landing in Detroit, federal officials said.

Flight 253 with 278 passengers aboard was 20 minutes from the airport when it sounded like a firecracker had exploded, witnesses said. One passenger jumped over others and tried to subdue the man. Shortly afterward, the suspect was taken to a front row seat with his pants cut off and his legs burned.

The White House said it believed it was an attempted act of terrorism and stricter security measures were quickly imposed on airline travel, but were not specified.

Law enforcement officials identified the suspect as Umar Farouk Abdul Mutallab. Others had slightly different spellings.

One law enforcement source said the man claimed to have been instructed by al-Qaida to detonate the plane over U.S. soil.

“It sounded like a firecracker in a pillowcase,” said Peter Smith, a passenger from the Netherlands. “First there was a pop, and then (there) was smoke.”

At least one passenger acted heroically.

Smith said the passenger, sitting opposite the man, climbed over passengers, went across the aisle and tried to restrain the man. The heroic passenger appeared to have been burned.

The incident was reminiscent of convicted shoe bomber Richard Reid, who tried to destroy a trans-Atlantic flight in 2001 with explosives hidden in his shoes, but was subdued by other passengers. Reid is serving a life sentence.

DEARBORN — Many Dearborn residents have been wondering about the source of paperback Qur’ans found hanging from doorknobs throughout the city in recent months.

The group distributing free copies of an English translation of the Muslim holy book hopes to create better perceptions of Islam by simply making the scripture available.

About 18,000 to 20,000 copies have been distributed in and around Dearborn over the past year, according to Wajahat Sayeed, founder and president of Al-Furqaan Foundation, also known as the Book of Signs Foundation, an Illinois-based nonprofit Muslim organization dedicated to distributing modern English translations of the Qur’an throughout the U.S.

Including distribution in the Chicago and Houston areas, Sayeed said about 200,000 copies of the Qur’an have been hung on residential front doors in plastic bags since the effort began in 2007.

Some background you won’t get from the lamestream or Arab media, from a Muslim perspective however:

Sayeed [founder of BoSF] is also the director of the MLFA (Muslim Legal Fund of America). This fund is a coalition of Islamists including CAIR (Council on American Islamic Relations), named an unindicted co-conspirator in the Holy Land Foundation trial; the MAS (Muslim American Society); and the American Muslim Task Force associated with the far left, such as the ANSWER Coalition. The organization clearly is a mouthpiece for the Holy Land Foundation victimology propaganda and believes among other absurd apologetics that Sami al-Arian is “wrongly accused”… – note – nothing about Muslim responsibility in Islamist-inspired terror. The goal of Al-Furqaan as stated on their website is to put a Qur’an in “every household, hotel room, hospital, college dorm, and retirement home in America”. Thirty-year mortgage rates rose once again on the Thursday heading into the Christmas holiday weekend. It was a reaction to the fact first-time claims for weekly state unemployment benefits fell sharply. Good news for the economy is typically bad news for those seeking a lower mortgage rates.

The national-average thirty-year fixed-rate mortgage rose an eighth of a point to four-point-eight-seven-five-percent with two and three-quarters points, for an extra cost of one-hundred-twenty-five dollars on a one hundred thousand dollar loan.

The five percent rate also rose an eighth of a point to two full points.

Remember: one point is worth “one percent” of the loan amount. This means “one point” is one-thousand dollars on a one-hundred- thousand dollar loan…and two-thousand dollars on a two-hundred thousand dollar loan.

When it comes to a two-point loan, that represents two percent of the loan amount. This means “two points” is two-thousand dollars on a one-hundred thousand dollar loan…and four-thousand dollars on a two-hundred thousand dollar loan.

The national-average fifteen-year fixed-rate mortgage was up as well, with the four-and-a-quarter-pct. rate up a quarter point to two-and-a-half points. And the four-and-a-half percent rate was up an eighth of a point to one-and-one-eighth points.

Key figure behind Islamic ads in U.S. tells Muslims not to accept Jesus as their prophet, while trying to fool American public into thinking Jesus was Muslim.

Who is behind the Islamic ads you see popping up all across the United States – promoting Islam and claiming prominent religious figures – who lived before Islam was even invented – were Muslim?

The two primary groups behind the advertisements are the Islamic Circle of North America (ICNA) and the Council on American Islamic Relations (CAIR). Since CAIR has been covered at length in other posts and on other sites, this post will focus on ICNA and the Director of  its subsidiary, Gainpeace.com.

Sabeel Ahmed is a spokesman for the ‘Why Islam’ dawah campaign, a member of ICNA, and Director of Gainpeace. Gainpeace.com is registered to Sabeel Ahmed and the address given is the Islamic Circle of North America (ICNA).

A brief but telling biography from the late 1990’s from what appears to be Sabeel’s own website, indicates he’s been at Islamic proselytism a long time and learned from one of the best (screen shots added as we expect these pages to disappear or change shortly after posting):

MR. SABEEL AHMED is at the final stage of his medical programme in Ross University, New York. He is the Co-chairman of the Da’wa Committee and Board of Director at the Muslim Community Center Masjid (the largest mosque in the Illinois state).

He is also a member of the Islamic Circle of North America (ICNA) where he is actively involved in the ‘toll free da’wa hotline’ 1-800-662-islam, having first hand experience in handling calls by non-Muslim.

He was a student of Shaykh Ahmed Deedat and his main field of interest is in comparative religion.

And a brief description of Sabeel listed as footnotes on most of that sites pages read as follows:

Currently, he is the co-chairman of the Da’wa Committee and Board of Director at the Muslim Community Center, Illinois. A student of Ahmed Deedat and now works for the 1-800-662-islam hotline of ICNA. His main interest is in comparative religion.

Sabeel is now Director of ICNA, which also happens to run the namesake Virginia mosque where five Muslims attended before going to Pakistan to admittedly wage jihad.

The now deceased “shaykh” from whom Sabeel learned the Islamic dawah trade sheds some needed light on the intent of the Islamic ads:

He [Ahmed Deedat] is the founder of the largest Islamic Dawah Organization in the world, the Islamic Propagation Center International and became its president.

He has published more than 20 books and distributed millions of  copies of FREE literature and pamphlets the world over. Many of

…the International Center for the Propagation of Islam, whose founder and Director, Ahmed Deedat, has received funding directly from Osama bin Laden’s family and has boasted about having personally met the al Qaeda leader on several occasions. (source)

So, for starters, the director of the Islamic advertisements all across America, and the telephone hotline selling Islam, was a student of a shaykh who was the godfather of Islamic dawah, who met terrorist leader Osama bin Laden several times, and received money from bin Laden’s family to teach Islam around the world. Is Sabeel now receiving funding from bin Laden’s family?

Sabeel Ahmed’s website provides intimate insight into his thoughts on dawah, on Christians, and America. Much of his site is spent attempting to refute Indian authors critiques of Islam, but here are some of his thoughts, starting with Islamic dawah in U.S. schools:

Getting Started

First and foremost the Muslim students should establish themselves into a Muslim group (Muslim Students Association, Islamic Circle, Quran Study Group etc) if they haven’t yet instituted one.

Relief Booths to Help Disaster Victims

During the time of any natural and human created disasters, Muslims students should be the first one to respond by setting up a disaster relief assistance booth, which collects money, canned food, clothes etc. This gives a very positive picture of Islam and Muslims as servers of humanity, compared to the negative images of Islam portrayed by the media.

Including Islamic Holidays in School calendar

Many schools events and exams are scheduled around the Jewish and Christian holidays. Muslims students should approach the school authorities as a group and had our Islamic date to be included in the school diaries and be considered during the scheduling of important school events.

Islamic books in School and Campus Libraries

Encourage the school libraries to shelf books and magazines on Islam written by Muslim, and provide the librarian a list of recommended books on Islam. If the library is unwilling to purchase it themselves, the students should raise funds amongst themselves and from their parents and come up with the required books.

Scanning Textbook for Misinformation on Islam

Students of all grades and their parents should constantly scan the text books to detect any biased material on Islam. If any is found, it should be brought to the attention of the teachers and the school authorities, providing them with the correct information with evidence, and have the teacher announce to the students the correct information.

Starting an Islamic Newsletter

A newsletter on Islam and Muslims can be started by the Muslim students, if the school and campus allows it. This letter can be funded mostly by advertisements and donations. A newsletter on Islam and Muslims will again help in dispelling the misinformation circulating around and also portrays Muslims as being organized and proactive.

Incorporating Islam in Class Projects

Some aspects of Islam can be very well incorporated in the school projects. E.g. In the speech class, if there is a freedom to choose a topic, an Islamic topic should be selected. Similar opportunities can be created in history, social science, writing and other classes.

Remember, It was always Muslim creativity, Iman and the help of Allah that has constantly won victories for the Muslims, and schools and campuses won’t be any exceptions.

Placing advertisements in the school and college newspaper with the toll free telephone number for non-Muslims to call: 1-800-662-Islam or your local Masjid number.

It is highly recommended that all Muslim students should carry Dawah flyers in their schools bags and purses to pass them on to their friends at school.

BOTTOM LINE

We should use every opportunity presented or created to sensitize non-Muslim peers and school staff with Islam and establish an environment in which every where a non-Muslims turn, they notice Islam portrayed in a positive way and get influenced by it and eventually accept Islam with Allah’s guidance, insha Allah.

How should Muslims React to Christmas?

Being the custodians of Truth and the ‘Best Ummah created for mankind” and “witnesses unto Mankind”, we Muslims just can’t stay still as the society around us is entrapped by Satan. Enjoining good and forbidding evil should be our theme.

The foremost thing to realize is that Christmas is a big innovation [bidah] which is leading a big part of humanity to shirk (associating partners with God). Christianity has transgressed the limits set by Allah; therefore showing happiness and joy on Christmas, Halloween, Easter, Good Friday is like shaking hands with Satan and telling him to carry on the good work.

Remember Allah commandment to us in the Quran:

“Help you one another in virtue and righteousness, but do not help one another in sin and transgression. And fear Allah, verily Allah is severe in punishment”. (Quran, 5:2)

Therefore, a Muslim can’t enjoin in any aspect of Christmas in the disguise that Jesus is our Prophet too, we are just honoring him by celebrating Christmas. We should recognize the bidah of Christmas and the Prophet’s warning that all bidah should be rejected. Therefore, accepting Christmas invitations, attending Christmas parties, buying small plastic Christmas trees to please the kids (some Muslims actually do) should be avoided.

By greeting Christians with ‘merry Christmas’ we are legitimizing Christmas, by driving out on Christmas eve to witness the decoration of houses, we are appreciating bidah with our eyes, by placing our kids on the laps of Santa in the malls we are handing them in the hands of a fiend, by closing our Islamic Schools or shops during Christmas we are giving it our silent approval, by selling Christmas items in our shops, we are strengthening the pillars of Kufr.

By purchasing for children books with Christmas themes (‘The Night before Christmas’), by watching Christmas movies and by giving holidays to our regular Islamic schools or weekend schools, we are passing them a misguided message.

Indeed Islam came to tear down the pillars of kufr and replace them with the pillars of Islam. Armed with facts on Christmas and eloquent words of Islam, the door of Dawah to the Christians should be wisely open.

When the Christians see us restraining from observing Christmas, they will curiously ask us for the reason. This opportunity should be used by each single Muslim to discuss Islam and invite non-Muslims to Islam.

While Sabeel, ICNA, CAIR and others use blatantly misleading advertising to lure in Americans to their intolerant ideology, claiming that prominent religious figures including Jesus Christ lived as Muslims, the message to Muslims is exactly the opposite; that non-Muslims cannot pretend that Jesus was their prophet too, and that celebrating Christmas would only strengthen the pillars of Kufr.

Sabeel continues:

It is highly recommended for all Muslims to carry brochures on Islam with them to pass on to non-Muslim classmates, co-workers, neighbors etc. after discussing Islam. Free brochures on various topics on Islam can be obtained by calling 1-718-658-1199 (for U.S. and Canadian residents).

Writing articles in campus and local newspapers on ‘Jesus (pbuh) in Islam’, conducting soup kitchens in impoverished neighborhoods, clothing drives in schools and college campuses for the needy etc. are some proper modes of conduct during the Christmas holiday season.

Thus the hearts and minds of non-Muslims should be exposed to the beautiful message of Islam.

Truth comes, falsehood disappears; Islam came, now shirk must clear.

And every organization that is approached by ICNA or one of its duplicitous allies, should consider these statements in their decision making process before accepting money for the misleading, and clearly disingenuous advertisements.

Nicolai Sennels: It is clear that my book had an influence on the debate. Many politicians quoted my book, and it is clear that the book has contributed to a more free debate in Denmark. My experiences from extensive travelling throughout our continent, my lectures and of course international media, is, that Denmark is Europe’s tip of the spear when it comes to acknowledging the problems with Islam and Muslim immigration. Parties that talk openly about these problems are growing, and parties that don’t are close to extinction. Even the two biggest left wing parties agree – the Social Democracy Party and Socialistic Peoples Party – that they will not change the strict immigration laws that have been made by the Dansk Folkeparti.

Soon we will probably get a law that will kick immigrants out of Denmark if they block or interfere with police work. This law is crucial to regain secular control of Muslim-dominated areas. While the prospect of imprisonment does not seem to scare immigrants from committing serious and dangerous crimes, it seems that losing the chance to live in our country is the only thing that really scares them. This is also my own experience from working with criminal Muslims: The one thing they fear is being deported.

The disappearing Indochinese Tiger

There was one Indochinese tiger left in China, and thanks to a villager who killed and ate the tiger, the species is now extinct throughout China. The villager who committed the extinction deed was then sentenced to 12 years in prison and fined $85,000 by the Chinese government. The villager claimed it was self-defense.

Once they realized what they did, they left knowing that the tiger was on the endangered species list in China. However, they soon came back to skin it and eat it with six other men. Along with the villager who killed the last Indochinese tiger in China, four of his friends were found guilty of covering up the crime and sentenced to four years in jail.

This does not mean that the tiger is extinct in the world. It is still present in Laos, Vietnam, Cambodia, Thailand and Myanmar. However, across all those countries less than 1,000 of the tigers still exist in the wild. While some of these countries are seeing the importance of protecting the tiger for eco-tourism, roughly three-quarters of the tigers killed in Vietnam have their parts sold to Chinese pharmaceutical companies.

While I am happy that the government of China has strong laws in place to protect their species, perhaps it would have been better to educate the villagers of the country in why they should protect a species rather than kill it. China has made an example of the villager, which may prevent other endangered species from disappearing in the country, but a bit of education could have prevented the Indochinese tiger from disappearing.

The Wall Street Journal reports this week that U.S. investigators are discovering that more and more young Muslims are vanishing from mosques, madrassas, and Islamic centers.

The disappearances, the Journal notes, are raising grave concerns among FBI and Homeland Security officials who fear that an onset of jihadist activity will take place on American soil in the near future.

Hundreds of Muslim men are also missing from Islamberg and this is not a propitious omen.

The sentry post is gone and no guards are in sight at the entrance to the 70 acre Islamic settlement located in the dense forest between Deposit and Hancock in upper New York State.

Young men in Islamic garb no longer congregate before the makeshift mosque, and no students are in attendance at the one room shack that serves as Sheikh Gilani’s “International Quranic Open University.”

Gunfire no longer can be heard from the firing ranges along the eastern parameter of the property – and no grunts come from new recruits at the obstacle course.

A new sign at the entranceway reads, “Welcome to Holy Islamberg: The International Quranic Open University.” Next to this sign, which features the image of a mosque emerging from the mountains, is a pot of plastic carnations. Another sign proclaims that the community is home to the “United Muslim – Christian Forum.”

Such statements of welcome are offset by the “No Trespassing” signs that have been nailed to trees throughout the compound.

On the opposite side of the road leading into the community is a rack of metal mailboxes bearing such names as Abdul-Haqq, Abdul Jalil, Mumim Roberts, Abdullah Simonds, and Salam Insan.

What has happened to this once bustling complex of radical Islamists – a place where the cries of muezzins were accompanied by the incessant rat-tat-tat of machine gunfire? Where are the Arab dignitaries that used to visit this remote community in chauffeur-driven limousines? Where are the armed sentries who warded away all intruders?

A handful of children play in the mud and muck before rows of rusty old trailers, and a few women in full burkas walk along the rutty dirt road that leads to the heart of the squalid Muslim compound.

The few residents who remain in the settlement are not environmentalists. Sewage seeps from septic tanks and outhouses into the creek that flows at the base of the settlement. Bags of rotting garbage remain stacked between the trailers. And the once pristine countryside is now littered with junk cars, moldy mattresses, empty tanks of propane, and old appliances.

Where are the men?

What has happened to this bustling center of jihadi training?

Why has Islamberg become a ghost town?

The answer comes from a heavy-set woman in a long black burka who stops to check her mail box. “The men – all gone,” she says in halting English. “All – in Pakistan.”

Now that the recruits at Islamberg have been trained in the basics of guerilla warfare, they have been deployed to Pakistan for advanced courses in explosives and weapons of mass destruction.

They will be returning home soon.

(1). Islamberg contains massive underground bunkers that are interconnected by a network of tunnels. A building contractor, who resides in Sherman, Pennsylvania – – approximately 15 miles from Islamberg, says that he helped to install the bunkers and that the paramilitary training that formerly took place at the firing range and the obstacle courses now takes place now takes place at these subterranean locations.

(2). The compound is no longer centralized. Many of the wannabe jihadis have moved to nearby locations, including a trailer park less than a mile away.

(3). The community is engaged in a public relations campaign designed to present Islamberg and other Jamaat ul-Fuqra compounds as peaceful settlements that pose no threat to national security. In keeping with this campaign, Islamberg now proclaims itself to be the “International Headquarters” of the newly created “United Muslim – Christian Forum.”

(4). There are bodies buried in Islamberg. This fact remains to be investigated by local law enforcement officials.

(5). The residents of Islamberg reside in squalid and unsanitary conditions that violate New York State health and safety codes.

Like a defense team for the jihad, with each and every successful and thwarted Islamic terror attack, Muslim Brotherhood linked Islamists – waging jihad of the pen and tongue – bombard the media with public relations propaganda.

Ft. Hood ushered in a new era of Islamist propaganda. One that signaled the growing confidence of Islamist victory over America. The more recent case of the six U.S. citizens detained in Pakistan has opened the floodgates of Islamist propaganda. CAIR, ISNA, ICNA, MAS, et al, and now the vast majority of American media, function as the media wings of American jihadists peddling lies, disinformation, and blaming anything and everything for jihad except the original source.

The Wall Street Journal was the latest willing accomplice, giving Islamist’s op-ed space last week in which MPAC, a group that defends Hamas terrorists, promptly recommended that these same Muslim Brotherhood groups be appointed the first line of defense against themselves jihad and to let them meet with the Ft. Hood killer.

The constant complaining, sniping, lawsuits and threats of lawsuits is belittling the FBI and other law enforcement agencies into submission – which is what it is intended to do. The latest, in a never ending list of examples, from the co-conspirators at the NYT:

Muslims Say F.B.I. Tactics Sow Anger and Fear

The anxiety and anger have been building all year. In March, a national coalition of Islamic organizations warned that it would cease cooperating with the F.B.I. unless the agency stopped infiltrating mosques and using “agents provocateurs to trap unsuspecting Muslim youth.”

Muslims are getting anxious and angry? No shit, and they’ve been waging jihad or plotting jihad attacks at an alarming rate all year. When will Americans get angry and defend themselves?

Since the terror attacks of 2001, the F.B.I. and Muslim and Arab-American leaders across the country have worked to build a relationship of trust, sharing information both to fight terrorism and to protect the interests of mosques and communities.

Bullshit. Name a single arrest or terror plot prevented due to Muslim or Arab-American leaders. Just one. It will be much easier to find articles, like this one, defending Islam and Islamic terror suspects after the majority of Islamic terror attacks and disrupted plots since 9/11.

But those relations have reached a low point in recent months, many Muslim leaders say. Several high-profile cases in which informers have infiltrated mosques and helped promote plots, they say, have sown a corrosive fear among their people that F.B.I. informers are everywhere, listening.

What are Muslims so fearful of the FBI hearing? If Islam is so peaceful they should insist the FBI monitor and bug the joint to prove their point. Or is this just another ploy to force the FBI further and further away from the places where jihad is preached and money is raised to support jihad?

“There is a sense that law enforcement is viewing our communities not as partners but as objects of suspicion,” said Ingrid Mattson, president of the Islamic Society of North America, who represented Muslims at the national prayer service a day after President Obama’s inauguration. “A lot of people are really, really alarmed about this.”

Another example of media complicity is the use of known terror-linked organizations for commentary. Here, the NYT’s goes to the leader of an unindicted co-conspirator who teaches jihad theorists and whose group is the primary source of Islamist indoctrination in U.S. prisons and controls a majority of U.S. mosques. The NYT lofts her a softball. Mattson doesn’t miss.

Some Muslims, Ms. Mattson said, have canceled trips abroad to avoid arousing suspicion. People are wary of whom they speak to. Community groups say it is harder to find volunteers. Many Muslim charities are hobbled.

Huh? Canceled trips abroad to avoid suspicion? The only people who would do such a thing are people with something to hide. Does Mattson recall the attacks by Muslims on 9/11, in Arkansas, and Ft. Hood, where more than 3,000 people were killed who will never be able to even consider a trip abroad?

“This is a national security issue,” said David Schanzer, who heads the Triangle Center on Terrorism and Homeland Security at Duke University. “It’s absolutely vital that the F.B.I. and the Muslim-American community clear the air and figure out how to work together.”

Again. Bullshit. It’s not the FBI’s job to work together with Muslims. It’s the duty of all Americans, including Muslims, to abide by U.S. law and when they break it to be brought swiftly to justice. Those who don’t work with the FBI should be charged with obstruction.

There is no valid comparison of the Islamist infiltration and propaganda war being waged in America in conjunction with Islamic jihad. Law enforcement never hired members of the Gambino crime family to top posts and although Bruce Cutler was damn good, John Gotti’s crew never had tax-exempt media outlets breaking down federal, state, and local law enforcement agencies daily. Not to mention training them on mafioso culture.

The American Muslim Task Force on Civil Rights and Elections, which threatened to cease cooperating with the F.B.I., has not yet done so.

Stop the idle threats already. Seriously, what would change if Islamist groups like CAIR and ISNA “ceased” cooperating with the FBI?

The national-average fifteen-year fixed-rate mortgage was up half-a-point, with the four-and-a-quarter-pct. rate now at two-and-a-quarter points. And the four-and-a-half percent rate was up three-eighths of a point to seven-eighths of a point.

Minneapolis police Sgt. Jesse Garcia also called the video “disturbing” and said the city’s investigators are cross-checking it against reports of attacks. One Minneapolis incident, in addition to one on the Greenway, may have taken place near the light rail repair station below Interstate 94.

Garcia compared the video with one shot in June, in which several young people followed and taunted a gay man as he walked home from the Minneapolis Gay Pride festival. That video was posted on YouTube, but police were unable to identify the taunters, Garcia said.

Although the most recent video has been removed, whoever posted it hinted that more videos were to come. The posting caused a backlash from commenters on the site.

Several of the perpetrators in this latest case have been arrested as victims come forward. The other video Garcia mentions is the video we posted in July 2009. Is it lazy or shoddy police work that makes them unable to identify any of the taunters on that video? Where are all the Muslims who are so eager to help law enforcement?

Robert Spencer at Jihad Watch points out, “that the Qur’an is what drove him to commit these crimes in the first place.” Now the killer of 14 including an unborn baby is claiming his rights are being violated because he can’t pray from the Qur’an…in Arabic…on the phone…with his brother. The lead lawyer for Fort Hood shooting suspect Maj. Nidal Malik Hasan said Monday that he believes the Army is violating Hasan’s religious rights because it prohibited him from praying from the Quran in Arabic with a relative.

Attorney John P. Galligan said he learned that police guarding Hasan at Brooke Army Medical Center cut short a phone conversation Hasan was having with one of his brothers on Friday because Hasan was not speaking in English.

“Police at the hospital refused to let him pray, in Arabic, from the Quran with his brother,” Galligan said. “I think it’s illegal and a violation of his religious rights.”

Hasan practices Islam, a religion whose followers hold that Jumu’ah (Friday) prayers are one of its most strongly affirmed duties.

His command, the Army’s III Corps at Fort Hood in Killeen, has imposed pretrial restrictions on him, including a requirement that he speak only in English with visitors or those he talks to on the phone unless an Army-approved translator is present. Messages seeking comment were left Monday for III Corps officials. The calls and e-mails were not returned.

Such a restriction would be unusual in the civilian criminal justice system, but not so in the military system, according to those familiar with it. In the civilian world, inmates have successfully challenged religious limitations imposed by jails and prisons.

In the military system, Hasan’s command may have considered that he is a threat based on his previous actions. The day of the shootings, the Army has said, some witnesses claimed that an armed Hasan got on a table and yelled “God is great” in Arabic before or as he opened fire on troops and others in the Soldier Readiness Center at Fort Hood. Some have also said Hasan, a military psychiatrist for Army troops, did not want to deploy to Afghanistan with his unit because he did not want to kill other Muslims.

That backdrop, some argue, provides justification for the military to severely restrict his activities for security reasons.

“He’s under military control,” said Jeffrey Addicott, a former Judge Advocate General’s Corps officer for 20 years, who now heads the Center for Terrorism Law at St. Mary’s University School of Law. “They can put reasonable restrictions on his movements and activities. The question is what is reasonable. In light of the fact that he is clearly influenced by radical jihad, in my opinion, it’s entirely reasonable to limit his spoken activities to English.”

English is Hasan’s primary language, and he learned Arabic later in life, according to news accounts. Addicott argued that because Arabic is not Hasan’s primary language and there may not be Arabic-speaking guards available, the military is justified in its restrictions.

Clearly influenced by radical jihad? Could the head of the Center for Terrorism Law explain “radical jihad,” or any kind of jihad for that matter, and the ideology that requires it? Hat tip also to Yid with Lid who writes “Even in the US Military, sometimes Political Correctness gets passed over for logic.” Putting Hasan in solitary with no access to visitors or a phone would be logical. Giving him a Qur’an and allowing him to speak to his brothers is insanity.

As insane as the military hiring a terror-linked Islamist from an unindicted co-conspirator to a terror-financing case train troops set to deploy from Ft. Hood.
