My colleague, Moe, posted a fascinating chart from Alexa.com comparing page views for Google and Facebook. I dug a little deeper and made three observations:

Tempelhof Airport, Tegel Airport, MediaSpree, Gazometer, Marx-Engels Forum, Gleisdreieck…many plots of land are in the middle of something in Berlin. The Local investigates some of the “deals” and reasons opposing citizens and business (with the city’s government somewhere in between).

Berlin stokes foreign investor land rush

Berlin is a roomy place but investors from Britain and the US have come to see the German capital as fertile ground for a cheap property deal. Ben Knight finds out how much of the city’s  is left for Exberliner magazine.

Tarhilo Sarrazin does not need any help making himself unpopular in Berlin. The city-state’s former finance minister caused a media stink last month by calling Berliners un-intellectual and lazy, and blaming the city’s history of government subsidisation on a collectively careless mentality. But perhaps his entertainingly bigoted remarks are not his worst disservice to Berlin. His time in power was characterised by a zeal for balancing the city’s books, and in pursuit of this he left few sources of revenue unexplored.

Selling land as public policy

For Sarrazin, the city’s real estate was an obvious asset to exploit, and plenty of Berlin politicians noticed his reckless policy. Klaus-Dieter Gröhler, local councillor for Charlottenburg and Wilmersdorf, says, “Berlin should not just market plots of land to stop gaps in the budget. That is not sustainable.” Ephraim Gothe, councillor for town development in Mitte, agrees, “Sarrazin usually forced through unconditional sales.” This policy left the city with little control over its own development.

Councillors for individual districts like Gröhler and Gothe are not idealists who champion the freedom of public property. They just found themselves protecting their district interests against Sarrazin’s finance department, eager to sell off land for any supermarket chain that will have it. “I don’t have anything against privatising land in principle, but the state should keep back some of the money – maybe 20 or 25 percent – to buy other land that it might need,” says Gröhler.

But Sarrazin is of course no longer in office, and Gröhler is still cautious about his successor, Ulrich Nussbaum. “He hasn’t been in office long enough; we’ll just have to wait and see,” he says.

The Marx Engels Forum

That Sarrazin’s influence has finally ended can be seen in the case of the Marx-Engels-Forum, the open park to the west of the TV Tower, where a bronze Karl Marx sits with Friedrich Engels at his shoulder, amid reliefs depicting happy life in socialist society. The small park was opened in the mid-eighties, and the ruling party of communist East Germany, the SED, was closely involved in its design. Earlier this year, it was reported that the city wanted to sell this prime piece of central Berlin. According to the papers, Sarrazin thought the sale of the park would be “particularly lucrative” for the city. Like the Palast der Republik, the famous building on the other side of the river that once housed the East German parliament, the Marx-Engels-Forum is emotionally associated with Berlin’s East German past, and like the Palast (whose demolition was completed earlier this year), it appeared doomed.

But the plan to sell the property has now officially been abandoned, for different reasons. Regula Lüscher, construction director of the city Department for Urban Development, maintains that the change of plans was the result of a change of course that marked her appointment. Lüscher decided not to execute plans of her predecessor, the publicly decorated Hans Stimmann, Berlin’s construction director from 1991-1996 and 1999–2006, who is infamous for the Prussian style he imposed on the city (and the Alexa shopping centre!). Stimmann wanted to build a small medieval village on the site, also with a free space – a kind of re-creation of the historical birth of the city of Berlin, which was founded in the area. “I’ve nothing against re-designing it, but I don’t think it’s a good idea to reconstruct medieval structures there. The area will be re-designed from 2012 onwards, but it will remain an open space for the public,” Lüscher says.

Straightforward as this sounds, financial drawbacks probably also played a part in the decision not to develop the Marx-Engels-Forum. It turned out that the land, which was an inner city residential quarter before the war, originally belonged to more than 50 other parties, including Jewish families whose property was confiscated by the Nazi regime. If the land had been sold and turned into a building site, those parties would have had compensation rights, and the project would have cost more than the city could make from it. “This probably had something to do with the fact that the city decided not to sell,” confirmed a spokeswoman for the Liegenschaftsfonds Berlin, the private marketing agency that the city uses to sell its property.

A historical template

But although Berlin has lost its chance to have a fake medieval village, Lüscher does intend to re-develop the entire city centre according to a historical template. The tip of this archaeological iceberg will be the Stadtschloss, a reconstruction of Berlin’s central imperial castle, the residence of Prussian kings and German kaisers, on the site of the Palast der Republik. The guiding principle of Lüscher’s vision for the historical city centre, stretching out south and east from the Stadtschloss to the river, is the idea that history should not be reconstructed, but ‘uncovered’. Archaeological remains are to be dug up and displayed in between modern apartment blocks. “It is meant to be the renaissance of the city centre. It is meant to bring the population of Berlin back into the centre … And at the same time we want to remind people that this was the birthplace of the city.”

All this means extensive privatisation, of course, as well as infrastructural re-development – widening or narrowing roads, and extending public transport services (a tram line is even intended for the area). The Urban Development department organises architect competitions to see what form the development will take. One recently concluded competition is the Luisenblock Ost, where a new office block is being planned near Friedrichstraße.

Berlin’s fiscal constraints mean that the project must be ‘cost-neutral’ – in other words, the state parliament has ordered that the sale of properties in the area has to fund the infrastructural upgrades.

Privatisation of the Spree bank

Extensive privatisation by way of large-scale projects has drawn passionate opposition from the population. The most high-profile of these schemes is the Mediaspree investment project, the colonisation of nearly four kilometres on both sides of the Spree in the east of the city by a horde of media corporations.

Part of the plan has already been realised with the O2-World Arena, which at the moment is still standing in the middle of sprawling wasteland, but will be nestled in a forest of new buildings within the next five years. Two 200-plus-room hotels will be built in the area to host the extra visitors that the immense venues will bring. One, the seven-floor Hotel Spreeport, will take up the area now occupied by the Maria am Ostbahnhof nightclub. The fashion centre Labels II Berlin is a collection of fashion showrooms about to open between the offices of Universal and MTV. Puma, Camel Lifestyle und s.Oliver are among the labels that have rented space in the centre. Despite the global financial crisis, space has also been rented in many of the unfinished office buildings. The entire project is meant to create 30,000 jobs, at least according to urban development minister Ingeborg Junge-Reyer, and as much as €3 billion are being invested. The parts of Mediaspree that have already been built – the offices of Universal, MTV, the Verdi trade union and the O2-World – are estimated to have already created some 15,000 jobs.

Citizens against corporations

A movement calling itself Mediaspree Versenken (‘Sink the Mediaspree’) succeeded in forcing a district referendum last year, the results of which showed that locals were against the plans. But the city, represented by Junge-Reyer, did its best to ignore these results, and went ahead with guaranteeing investors planning permission. The authorities claimed that to sink the project would cost the city €165 million in damages, a figure disputed by Mediaspree Versenken. The referendum only managed to force some alterations to the plans, mainly in order to create public access to the river and adequate open space, which has now been ensured. One building at the Elsen Bridge is still in debate, as is the height and density of certain projected buildings at the Schilling Bridge, but the rest is now apparently beyond revision. Manfred Kühne, project manager at the Department for Urban Development, gave the Tagesspiegel a telling quote earlier this year: “The discussion around the citizens’ initiative has awoken the false impression that projects could be endangered.”

For Mediaspree Versenken, the construction of a row of media buildings along the river would waste the chance to create a social and recreational area, and would be another nail in the coffin of the improvisational element of Berlin culture – represented by Bar 25, the bar, nightclub and performance venue that grew out of a makeshift beach bar on the river bank. Despite its commercial success, Bar 25 has been forced to close to make way for new plans: Berlin’s waste disposal service BSR owns the and would like to sell it for around €31 million. So far, no buyer has been found. For Lüscher, establishments like Bar 25 should be recognised as only a transitory stage in the capital investment of an area.

“These temporary utilisations of space are of course wonderful, but they are also a kind of privatisation. One should be aware of that. I think it’s great that you have these beach bars, and they do enliven the area. They are pioneers of space, if you like – they find spaces in the city and use them – and that is a very important stage in the development of the city, but I think that in the future authorities should take more care to manage these temporary utilisations.” In other words, improvised businesses like Bar 25 should in the future be regulated by a state-appointed land management company, which draws up contracts that say how long a bar or a nightclub will be allowed to last.

These ‘temporary utilisations’ have been the flashpoints of the struggle between the privatisation of Berlin’s real estate and the free, improvisational culture that many believe attracts people to Berlin. For Lüscher, who does not recognise any fundamental difference between these two forms of privatisation, but does accept the importance of encouraging independent businesses to get a chance to develop an area, the best compromise would be the implementation of a system to manage plots of public land after they are sold. The new land management system would take care of drawing up temporary contracts with the businesses of a designed area. This, apparently, is the plan for Berlin’s next great private development project -the Tempelhof airfield.

About 18 months ago I was at a wedding on the West Coast with some folks from Google.  An interesting topic of conversation was about “Who could unseat Google?” and, generally, the importance of search.  A major theme of this discussion was about how as technology and user behavior changes, the leaders in one era rarely make effective transitions to become winners in the next era.

Google bested Webcrawler, Northern Lights, and other online search companies, but – more importantly – search beat out directories such as Yahoo! and AOL as the preferred way to find and access information on the Internet.  Our little group agreed that none of the search contenders (Ask.com, etc. – there was no Bing yet) had a chance.

I argued that social networking in general and Facebook in particular were the biggest threats.  Hours and hours of online activity are occurring on Facebook where Google has no sway, no advertising opportunities, and no information about what users are doing.  More importantly, Facebook is becoming an important mode of content discovery:  People recommend books, sneakers, music, and movies to their friends.  It is also becoming an important method for spreading breaking news.  Facebook is, for example, how I found out about the Ft. Hood shootings.

Today, I saw some extremely intereresting data on Alexa.com that shows how this battle is playing out.  The following chart shows how each week Facebook and Google flip-flop as the Internet leader in total pageviews.  Facebook rules on the weekend; Google rules during the week:

(By the way, this is the second time that Facebook caught Google in share of total pageviews.  The first time was during the 2008 Presidential Election.  After the election, Facebook’s pageview share dropped precipitously and took about six months to recover to their prior level.)

To explain “New Moon” the film, you not only must compare it to the books but to the style and praise of the previous film.

Disclaimer: I am not a critic, nor a genius, nor have I ever written a review. These are just my thoughts on the film. Just me talking about the pros and the cons. If for any reason you feel this doesn’t meet your standards then stop. I am just a fan of the books sense they’ve come out. I have read the books instantly as they came out after discovery the first novel Twilight from a friend. I read it before anyone had gone Vampire crazy, and before New Moon came out. So I have liked the novels a long time. Don’t get me wrong though, as much as I am satisfied with the plot line of the most of the novels I find the author disappointing.

The Author: Stephenie Meyer came and went like J.K Rowling. The author wrote a great story idea but the writing itself was nothing special. There are writing mistakes an experienced author would not make. Stephenie Meyer’s works aren’t master pieces by any standard of literary work. She got this far as J.K. has because she gave the public a nice plot line that made readers drool over pure romance. The same way that Romeo & Juliet are still read in modern times though not modern whatsoever. Yet, the author of Twilight progressively got worst. Lacking in keeping up with the true story she had started with and progressively developing into an almost different story by her fourth book. Change occurred as money in her wallet developed. The later books came solely for the money. After all she did say it herself that she only meant to write two novels and she ended up with four. Most of all I lost my respect entirely of her. Due to the fact that she  personally wrote a letter on her website telling fans of her distaste at the manuscript of Midnight Sun being released online by one of her people and basically telling the readers punishments will happen for it by her not finishing the novel and releasing the draft on her website for all eyes. This action of so outwardly blaming her loyal fans of which some refused to read it even though they could. Shows the fact of how power-hungry she has become to lose track that these people  are devoted to supporting any action taken by her then to just be kicked in the gut for having done absolutely nothing. Plus, it was clearly her fault for the release for trusting the wrong people.

Twilight: My review of twilight the novel. I give it five stars. The characters felt real, relate-able, and consistent. The writing was neither completely poor nor amazing. It was very average like when a friend ask you to read something they wrote. It was properly written and is definitely for a young person that could not acknowledge mistakes. It was written rather childishly, like an adolescent wrote it, which makes it in essence easier to relate to Bella. Although Stephenie Meyer says it was written for  older crowd like individuals like herself, Twilight would not cut it. Most adults would not totally dismiss it, yet it would not have had as great a turn out as it had with the young adult readers. Overall, it is by far the best novel of the Twilight Saga. This is very bad for the rest of the books because they cannot meet up to the standards of the first novel.

New Moon: This novel is clearly the worst of the four novels to some and to others its just seems like a small stepping stone. This novel feels like it was a filler episode in the series.  It filled in some gaps and brought in some ideas for the future books but over all I feel it was a waste of time expect for a few expectations. If the novel had just contained the first bit with Edward and summarized Jacob’s developing character and had the final chapters of the novel it would be better. Basically keep the beginning, the end, and shorten the middle  a lot then this novel might just be ok. Reading this I just felt like get on with the point of the story already, I get it shes depressed move on already, and Jacob is ok but his no Edward. The thing is Edward made Twilight big no matter how you see it and New Moon containing very little Edward is well boring.

Eclipse: This book should have been the last one. It solves the resolution that had started in the first novel almost completely. Though something would need to be added to make this the end and make it amazing instead it wasn’t the last one. The novel seemed to drag on in the middle like New Moon yet it contained some more interesting facts. The end was thrilling, the beginning is forgetful because I literally can’t recall the beginning. Eclipse was nothing special, it was better than the second but still could not compare to the first. Most readers that I spoke to feel that the Bella everyone had fallen in love with in Twilight and people could relate to had become someone utterly different. I get that characters in novel can grow up and change to but this was a radical attitude change in the series. It just felt like a different person with the same name.

Breaking Dawn: By far the worst of the books in the series to most. This novel has the same character ideals of same names, vampires, werewolves, and fight for good. However this novel seems almost unrelated to the rest to the series. The main characters seem almost like strangers to fans of the series. The actions and plot line of the story are just out-of-place with the rest of the series that most people are disgusted to call Breaking Dawn the end of the Twilight series. This book is entirely like a filler episode to the climax. Then as the reader reaches the climax disappointment is waiting. Some of the ideas or passages of the novel are what the fans of Twilight had been waiting to see, yet with the personality change of characters, mainly Bella, made those passage unbearable to enjoy fully. The beginning plays with the exact answers to  that of the readers questions of  “what would happen if this happened.” The middle didn’t really make sense and seemed to be implemented for a shock effect. The end was a the biggest fail and disappointment for readers looking for a little more action.

Twilight the film: Disappointment. Comprehension that the novel can’t literally be brought to life but it was painful to watch almost. The acting by Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson was horrible. Neither of them can properly act. This is no surprise sense Catherine Hardwicke tends to favor actors and not properly look for actors that can act. The effects in the film were unimpressive and lacked realism. A lot of the details that made the novel famous were left out. Scenes were added that just wasted time in the movie and were pointless. The camera work was done poorly and overall failed in properly symbolizing what the novel was all about. Twilight basically had been butchered to shreds for fans of the novel.

New Moon the film: In comparison to Twilight, the film, New Moon was amazing. The effects were much smoother, there were more of them, the camera angles were nice, and it properly symbolized what the Twilight Saga is about. The actors of the first film were kept and brought down the movie. Due to the fact the worst actors in the film are the lead actors. However one lead actor stands out from the rest. Taylor Lautner was amazing. His acting skills carried the film and made the character Jacob look outstanding. Compared to the novel in which fans didn’t like not having as much of Edward in the film I feel better not having Robert Pattinson on-screen. His acting was literally a joke and Kristen Stewart is so emotionless and seems more like versions of  Keanu Reeves. The film kept very close to the novel, but the film brought the novel to life were the novel had failed. The fail was much more entertaining and accomplished in the areas that novel lacked. It had a much more concrete ideas of romance between Edward and Bella. It brought out the feelings of the novel while still being able to introduce the added plot-line of the werewolves and the Volturi. In the end it was a great film. It was better than Twilight the film and New Moon the novel.

Eclipse/Breaking Dawn the films: As the Twilight Saga rages through the media, I hope success on the future films, and wish for certain actors to get some talent, while the rest of the cast stays gifted in their roles. Much appreciation to the actors that play….

Hoje vou falar de nossa Musa, não não é a Kate, mas sim a Alexa Chung.

Sério não tem UMA foto que eu vejo que ela não tá LINDA to kill for (cause i don´t die for nobody).

Alexa nasceu na inglaterra em 83, desde de os 16 anos está de alguma forma envolvida no mundo da moda, já foi modelo e hoje é tv host pra mtv americana (ela tem o programa it´s on with alexa) e juro que muito queria sentar naquele sofá pra conversar com ela, o que é o sofá da Oprah.

Em 2007 começou a ser chamada de It Girl (e ela é, mesmo que não goste) e respodeu: “there’s not much to being an It girl. It’s really quite a depressing title to hold”

Atualmente ela namora o front man do Artic Monkeys, Alex Turner, e participou do clip  da múscia My mistakes were made for you da outra banda de seu namorado, The Last Shadow Puppets.

Não tem como não gostar dela!

There are three things you can do with clothes you no longer want. The first is to put them on Ebay, the second is to give them away and the third is to cut them up and bodge them into temporary cushion covers.

I put things up for sale on Ebay a lot simply because I buy so many clothes and a lot of them are so bizarre that they can’t be worn too often. Of course, there are some things I own, such as an awesome Pepsi & Shirley cocktail dress, that I could not part with them. Otherwise, I am not emotional about my clothes. I lend them out and give them away all the time. There will always be more clothes.

So here is my latest Ebay lots. The first being this amazing plaid jumpsuit. I should love it but it’s the colours that don’t do anything for me. I’m not a fan of Autumn colours, I should be as they probably suit me but it’s still brown and brown and I are not great friends. The fit is lovely, it’s really comfy but those shades are just not me.

This next jumpsuit is however, totally me. I’ve had it years but never worn it, I am just a little too tall for it to fit comfortably. I could lengthen the straps but I am worried I’d ruin the lines of it. It’s gorgeous gold metallic pinstripes on a black patterned fabric.

At the other end of the scale is this oversized jumper. I bought it because of the colours but I am just never going to be a woolly person. It’s kind of geek chic too, which is good but not with peroxide hair.

So they did not make it as permanent residents in my wardrobe, along with a few other bits and pieces all listed on my Ebay I hope they go to good homes.

And so to the cushions. I love a cushion and I like change so tonight I ran up some covers from two tops, a dress and a jumper. This is one of my favourite wastes of time. They are never perfect as they are never meant to last that long; there’s always a queue of clothes waiting to take pride of place on the settee.

Blog wordpress seakan anti dengan javascript. terkadang ada sebagian yang kesulitan dalam memasukkan widget yang memakai javascript seperti alexa widget. (termasuk yang bikin postingan ini). untung ada teman sesama blogger yang berbaik hati sehingga saya dapat menempatkan widget tersebut dalam blog saya. awalnya mempergunakan widget dari rankwidget tapi sepertinya widget tersebut tidak bergerak dan tidak mengalami perubahan, akhirnya register pada alexa untuk mendapatkan widget yang selalu update seperti yang saya punya pada slide bar sisi kanan (kanan atau kiri ya????) pokoknya seperti yang terlihat dech.

langkahnya sangat mudah dan begini dech caranya.

1. Langkah pertama adalah register pada alexa (semua sudah pada paham bagaimana untuk melakukan registrasikan???)

3. masukkan dech url blog yang mau diberi widget dan klik submit
4. isi form-form yang sudah disediakan tentang blog atau apa sih yang disubmit (kalau bukan blog apa ya masa kamar mandi)
5. pada saat submit site, maka site harus memiliki keterkaitan dengan alexa, masukkan aja text yang diminta oleh alexa sebagai posting pada blog (biar tidak kelihatan tanggal posting di beri tanggal jauh lebih awal aja dech sebelum tanggal sekrang)
6. site sudah akan teridentifikasi oleh alexa, selanjutnya adalah mengambil widgetnya
7. maka nantinya akan ketemu dengan site widget dech
8. nah dari situ jangan kopi tag htmlnya tapi copy image yang ada disebelah tag html tersebut, seperti gambar berikut ini (blok kemudian klik kanan copy)
9. setelah dicopy tambahkan tulisan baru dengan mode visual pada blog (mode visual bukan html)
10. paste aja langsung hasil copy tersebut dan akan tampak seperti gambar berikut ;
11. kalau sudah tampak gambar seperti diatas maka rubah mode menjadi mode html
12. tinggal copy aja kode html tersebut pada slide bar dengan menambahkan widget teks dan pastekan pada widget tersebut

sudah dech widget alexa yang awalnya javascript dan tidak dikenal oleh wordpress sudah bisa nampang menghiasi slide bar kita sebagai widget.

This will be Alexa’s first Thanksgiving (well the fist one she’s not hanging out on the “inside”).  To honor the day, Amber will be making her first, of many she hopes, Thanksgiving Brunches.

We will have a family meal in the early afternoon (11 or so) and then head over to Old Bridge in the evening.

We can’t wait to share this wonderful day with our family!

Thursday was the last time we have to visit Alexa’s pediatrician in 2009.  We couldn’t be happier to FINALLY get to space the well visits out.  All the concerns regarding her premature birth have been put to rest (well most).  Now she’s just a regular baby   Next time we see Dr. Fury will be in Jan or 2010.

We’re not sure what the issue with the doc’s scales are, but they say she only gained 4ozs, but grew and inch and a half?  Not likely!  Anyway, her stats this last visit were 14lbs 4ozs and 26.5 inches.  She was heavier 2 weeks ago when she was taken in for an allergic reaction to yogurt (she most likely has a milk protein allergy that she should grow out of).  So we’re pretty suspect that the scales haven’t been calibrated in a while.

Next week we will be back in the office again…but not for a doctor’s visit.  Little miss is getting her ears pierced!  ACK!  Those poor lobes are about to be decorated.

1. NEVER date a boy your friends have liked, even a little bit. when they liked him, they imagined themselves with him, and if you go out with him, your in on their fantasy. and you ruined it. even if its passed. you jerk.

2. if your with a group of people and you make a joke and they laugh but don’t look at you… they don’t think your funny. sorry.

3. if you see a cute boy, don’t just smile at him. if he looks back, do a cute little wave, so that way he KNOWS your smiling at him.

4. if you start telling someone a story about your day and I turns into the plot of the last episode of Glee, maybe you should watch TV less. not Glee though. go ahead and watch that.

5. its totally okay to hook up with a guy. its totally okay to hook up with multiple guys. but don’t do it on the same day. then you maaaaybe a slut. sorries.

6. how is slut even an insult anymore? if you know your not then why does it matter. if a girl is calling you a slut, she’s obviously trying to start drama. just laugh and walk away.

7. if you can laugh and walk away when someone insults you, you win. your awesome.

8. eyeliner can be your best friend, and your worst enemy. spend time in front of the mirror practicing. definitely don’t walk out the house with something you justjust tried. it could be a disaster.

9. before you accuse someone, make sure you have evidence dood. or you could lose someone.

10. everyone should read Peter Pan. get in touch with the kid in you and remember when your imagination had no limits.

Page Rank (baca: pej-reng) rupanya merupakan predikat yang luar biasa berpengaruh dan bisa mengangkat status sebuah domain. Ya, wajar adanya mengingat domain berpage rank tinggi kini banyak diburu oleh para pemain PTR alias Paid To Review. (mbacanya kalo ga salah ; paid tu repiu hahaha).

Ya seorang blogger dengan PR tinggi bisa mendapat uang ratusan dollar setiap kali posting hanya dengan mengikuti program Paid To Review yang banyak bertebaran diseantero jagat maya. Sebuah blog dengan PR 4 misalnya, dia berpotensi menghasilkan $200 untuk sekali posting review yang paling-paling tiga atau empat paragraph saja.

Tentu saja untuk mengikuti program paid to review ada kriteria agar sebuah blog bisa disertakan, salah satunya adalah minimal page rank 3, walaupun ada beberapa yang menerima blog dengan PR dibawah 3. Dan sebagaimana kita tahu, Mas Google biasanya mengupdate peringkat PR nya setiap tiga bulan sekali, jadi paling tidak membutuhkan waktu tiga bulan agar sebuah blog bisa diterima oleh agen review. hal ini tentu menjadi kendala bagi mereka yang ingin cepat-cepat menikmati hasil jerih payah dari menulis review, solusinya adalah dengan membeli domain yang sudah memiliki PR tinggi.

Harga domain yang sudah memiliki PR tinggi memang tidak murah, karena harganya bersifat hampir subjektif. Seorang teman pernah menawarkan harga jual domain PR 4 nya samapai 200$, mahal emang. Tapi dengan modal PR4 kalo sekali review dibayar $50 saja, 4 kali review sudah balik modal.

Iya, tentu saja ini mebuka lahan baru bagi mereka yag mencari penghidupan di dunia maya. Rata-rata banyak pemain yang beternak domaian, alias membeli domain, mebuat blog dan menaikan pagerank nya setinggi mungkin untuk dijual kembali kepada peminat. Istilah beternak domain rasanya lumayan bagus juga hehehe

Ohya, Nopember ini konon kabarnya, embah kita google memang baru update page rank seantero jagat, jadi domain yang valid PR nya akan stabil hingga tiga bulan kedepan. Wajar bila tiba-tiba harga domain ber PR pun sekarang melonjak, masanya panen buat para petanai domain.

In un precedente post avevo mostrato come creare una sorta di classifica dei sistemi operativi piu’ diffusi attraverso le statistiche di accesso ai siti web fornite dai contatori piu’ diffusi. Si trattava di una classifica e di relativi grafici da prendere con le pinze, perche’ anche se danno indicazioni realistiche, non forniscono dati sufficientemente certi. Adesso faro’ di peggio, cerchero’ di fare una classifica sulle distribuzioni GNU/Linux piu’ diffuse.

In questo caso a nulla valgono i contatori di accesso, perche’ non in grado di distinguere nell’universo GNU/Linux tra le varie numerosissime distribuzioni (compresi rami, versioni, ecc.). Esistono pero’ varie classifiche, che si basano sui metodi piu’ disparati. Ad esempio sulla classifica degli accessi alle pagine dedicate alle singole distribuzioni su Distrowatch, o su come vengono classificati i siti ufficiali delle varie distribuzioni su Alexa, oppure sui termini di ricerca su Google Trends.

Ciascuna di queste classifiche prese una alla volta hanno forti limiti che le rendono inaffidabili, proviamo a prenderle tutte quante per vedere se l’unione possa fare la forza, o meglio la correttezza.

DISTROWATCH – Partiamo dalla classifica di Distrowatch delle prime 15 distribuzioni negli ultimi 12 mesi (in modo che non siano eccessivamente influenzate dai periodi di rilascio), togliendo FreeBSD che non e’ una distribuzione GNU/Linux e inserendo una colonna dove vengono riportati i dati delle visite, ma assegnando valore 1 all’ultimo in classifica:

ALEXA – Adesso guardiamo la classifica di Alexa sui siti web ufficiali delle singole distribuzioni. Il Rank di Alexa funziona in modo inverso, piu’ grande e’ il numero minore e’ la posizione in classifica. Anche in questo caso pero’ creiamo anche una colonna assegnando valore 1 alla distribuzione col Rank piu’ alto (quindi l’ultima in classifica):

GOOGLE – Ora controlliamo con Google Trends la classifica dei nomi delle distribuzioni piu’ cercati su Google negli ultimi 12 mesi. Termini di uso comune come puppy, mint e arch verranno cercati associati alla parola Linux:

Infine, non ci resta che creare un’ultima classifica che tenga conto delle tre appena viste. Possiamo sommare i numeri e creare la classifica in base ai risultati:
