Lors de nos séances de thé alcoolisé, j’en arrive à me demander ce que serait sa vie s’il avait pu vivre son amour avec la Reine.
S’il n’avait pas dragué Alice, le chat de Cheshire, la Tortue Fantaisie et le Valet de Coeur. Ainsi qu’une chenille pyromane. Puis concrétisé avec le Chapelier Fou.

Aurait-il passé moins de temps couché sur le divan analytique, à fixer ses grandes pattes arrières comme s’il s’agissait d’une horloge poilue ?

Mel Kadel est illustratrice, américaine, originaire de Pennsylvanie. Elle a posé ses valises à Los Angeles, avec son compagnon Travis Millard. Pour l’instant. Tous deux font partie de la fine fleur des illustrateurs et dessinateurs made in usa repérée par la Richard Heller Gallery, Santa Monica, Californie.

Mel Kadel. Electron libre, ses oeuvres sont un mix culturel foisonnant. Son esprit fonctionne à la manière d’un Caroll Lewis ou d’un Roald Dahl. Ses dessins sont en construction constante et racontent des visions, où rêves et cauchemars se confondent et explorent l’étrange. Ici, des nuées d’anges. Là, une mer de rats et un lit-refuge. Sur un autre encore, une enfant soigne son coeur, perchée la tête dans les arbres. « Au départ, j’ai une idée puissante de ce sur quoi portera ma création. Après, il faut que je la dessine. Je colle à l’idée originale, mais je fait beaucoup de coupes et de changements au fur et à mesure »*, explique-t’elle.

Mel Kadel est aussi une enfant de la culture folk. « Mon voisinage sent les tacos et les barbecues, notre maison ressemble à une cabane dans les arbres », raconte-t’elle, quand elle parle de son toit. Elle travaille sur du papier vieilli, qu’elle colle bout à bout et qu’elle obtient en trempant ses feuilles blanches dans du café. Elle affectionne les imprimés fleuris et les motifs en patchworks. Pour autant, elle en bouscule les codes sans complexe, toujours en finesse. Quand on lui demande son style, elle répond « visqueux». Là où certains motifs nous plongerait, horreur, dans La petite maison dans la prairie, elle oppose des corps sombres, en noir et blanc, presque morbides. Au crayon comme à la ville, elle aime cultiver la différence: « Notre maison est délabrée. C’est une des huit carlingues construites dans les années 20 par les mormons, au sommet du Echo Park. Y a un paquet d’histoires bizarres qui flottent dans le coin. Hemingway avait l’habitude de terminer ses romans dans l’une d’elle, Steely Dan (ndlr. musicien et compositeur de jazz rock fusion) a écrit quelques tubes dans une autre, et un dentiste a été assassiné sur notre pallier, au début des années 80. (…) Aujourd’hui c’est un vieux campement pour adultes asociaux».

Mel Kadel ne manque ni de malice, ni d’un certain sens de l’auto-dérision. Mais c’est évidemment pour son talent et le plaisir de vos yeux que je vous invite à découvrir cette Alice au pays des visions biscornues.

Zelda and I made it! We finally saw New Moon! Yesterday we went to the premiere here with a couple of friends and Mama Soul. We saw some people wearing Twilight-shirts, a couple of Twimoms and even a Twidad. I didn’t even know they exist until yesterday… And a lot of girls wearing plaid. Coincidence? A subtle tribute to Rob? Who knows? (I do!) Our premiere outfit? A blue blouse just like book-Bella, Ray Bans like Edward and the original Bella-bracelet from Italy (Great story concerning that one, I’ll tell you soon in another post!). So today we’re gonna present you our New Moon review part 1. Part 2 will follow soon… and include a lot more details cause we’re gonna see the movie about 23 more times before writing that. Just in case you haven’t seen the film yet (You better got a good excuse for that!) and want to have the real surprise when watching it for the first time: SPOILER ALARM! Starting now and ending at the end of this post. So here we go:

First of all, down with Cathy the Cougar! Chris Weitz, do you want to marry me? What an enormous improvement in comparison to Twilight! I’m not going as far as to say it was the perfect movie, but honestly Chris, you’re so down with the kids! Or rather the Twilight-fans. Or Zelda and me. This is how vampires should look when they sparkle! Like diamonds and not that ringing and tinkling in the woods crap. Two minutes into the movie and I already love Charlie so much. How sweet when he almost started to sing, or when he came to look after Bella when she was screaming in her bed. We even got the names of the months after Edward left. Something I had really been hoping for!

... but most of the time doesn't, because he shouldn't!

And the e-mails for Alice idea to show how Bella feels, what an incredibly clever move of you, Chris! And I loved that Harry Clearwater, the king of homemade fish-fry, died as a hero trying to protect Charlie from Victoria. And oh how Rachelle looked awesome with her flaming red hair. Zelda totally liked the cliff diving scene. When Bella first sees Victoria under water and then there’s Edward beside her… epic! And the funny stuff, like the cinema scene or the “You like older women, huh?”. Not exactly as funny as the spider-monkey line but still… And Jasper and Emmett were so much… uhm, cooler, cuter? Whatever, better anyway!

Ok, there were a few things that were kind of strange and I think we got to mention them as well in order to try and stay honest. Sometimes it was a bit too cheesy. Cheesier than the books. I even felt kind of 2nd-hand-embarrassed for Edward being so hardcore romantic. I noticed that Edward’s abs seem to have looked a lot better on the pics from the set we saw a few months ago. In the actual Volterra scene, they were barely visible. So what happened there? I mean, isn’t Edward supposed to have at least a six-pack? Jacob even got an eight-pack, so in comparison to that… sorry to say Rob, but Taylor wins this one!

Did anyone else think Marcus and Caius looked like Denethor, Faramir’s dad from Lord of the Rings, and  Draco Malfoy’s older brother? Did the Volturi fight scene between Edward and Demetri remind you of the Gandalf vs. Saruman battle in the LOTR?

And there’s another thing. Not your fault Chris, this is just how Stephenie Meyer wrote Bella and the reason why this girl sometimes annoys the crap out of me in the books: Who do you think you are, Bella “don’t hurt him, kill me instead” Swan? Why should the Volturi treat Edward’s life against yours? You’re nothing but a weak clumsy girl, okay? Sorry to say, but deal with it!

All in all, we got everything we wanted… Well, almost. Taylor Lautner wore a shirt in at least three scenes. BIG FAIL! Sorry Chris… But don’t worry, Zelda and I enjoyed the movie a lot. We’re probably going to watch it over and over again for the next few weeks… Only because of important blog journalism of course so that we can present you a more detailed review soon. Wanna know what Mama Soul said about New Moon? She made so many great hilarious comments that she will get her own post this week. Don’t miss it! There’s no better way to watch this film than sitting in between her and Zelda. We’ve got enough stuff to write about for at least four weeks, so keep coming back to check what else we got in store for you!

I was born in the north, but the south is where I call home. I’ve now lived more than half of my life here. I love everything about where I live: the weather, the people, the sweet lilting accent, sweet tea, collards and cornbread.

And I’m here to tell you, Southern Hospitality is NOT dead. My dear mother-in-law is from Boston. It drives her crazy with how friendly people are here. We’ll go to the grocery store and everyone smiles and nods a hello. The cashier will strike up a conversation with you. The young man bagging the groceries helps you to your car and won’t accept a tip. She’s all like, “What do they want from you?” I just laugh.

Along with the friendliness there’s a delightful mix of craziness. I’ve met my fair share of characters. Which makes this story, Alice’s Restaurant, totally believeable.

No Thanksgiving is complete without listening to Alice’s Restaurant by American folk singer Arlo Guthrie. It’s a bit long but if you don’t have your own copy or a radio station that plays this on Thanksgiving Day I saved you the trouble of finding it. Enjoy! And Happy Thanksgiving, y’all!

Är trött efter böknatt nummer 3. Jag funkar dåligt utan sömn. Det är inte så att jag sover för lite, för det brukar för det mesta bli åtta timmar per natt. Det går helt enkelt inte att känna sig utvilad när man blir väckt femtioelva gånger på en natt. Jag misstänker att det är magknip som gör att fröken inte kan sova mer än en timme i sträck. Snuvan kan nog också spela in. Jag tycker det är dags att vi blir friska snart. Lite energi vore trevligt!

Hade tänkt lägga mig igen när vi kommit hem från dagis men den raska promenaden i friska luften gjorde att jag piggnade till en smula. En kopp kaffe på det och jag ska nog kunna hålla igång ett par timmar. Kanske sover lunch med fröken innan det är dags att hämta storebror, vi får se.

Vi har en trevlig förmiddag här hemma, lillfisan och jag. Myser. Det är minst lika viktigt som att vika tvätt och diska, försöker jag intala mig själv. Kanske till och med viktigare.

My sleep has been pretty messed up since last week.  I finally gave in and took a sleeping pill late this morning.  It’s been awhile since I’ve taken something, so it hit me pretty hard.  I’ve been really groggy since I woke up, and my limbs and my head feel disconnected from the rest of my body.  It’s a weird sensation.  It’s also coupled with intense fatigue.  I know I need to sleep more, and I will, because I need to wake up at early o’clock tomorrow anyway, but since tomorrow is going to be a very busy day and will probably only include a perfunctory “Happy Thanksgiving!,” I thought that I’d go ahead and post about all the things I’m thankful for today.

• Alice I initially wrote family, but I feel as if Alice is deserving of her own list.  She’s the newest addition, and I couldn’t be more thankful that she is.  I’m thankful for every moment I get to hear her sweet little voice over the phone.  I’m thankful for every picture.  I’m thankful for what she’s done for my beautiful sister.  I’m thankful for every milestone, every giggle, every coo and every scream.  Mostly, though, I’m thankful for her.
• Family I love them even when I don’t particularly like them. I am most especially thankful for my siblings and, in particular, the closeness which my sister and I have recently developed.  I’ve spent years praying for it, and I’m thankful for every day for the hurdles we’ve crossed and the distance we’ve come.  I am also thankful for my brother-in-law.  He’s also a new member of the family, and I’m looking forward to spending some time with him over Christmas.  He’s a pretty neat guy.  I think I’ll keep him.
• Friends I am grateful for all of my friends, as well as–and, in some ways, especially–those that I have met through my blog.  I still find myself amazed by the friendships that I manage to strike up through my insignificant space in cyberspace.  The love and support from friends help make the trials and ordeals I experience infinitely more tolerable.
• Jessica ‘Nough said.
• Sleep I have learned to cherish what I can get, when I can get it.  I often complain about the little I get, but knowing what it can be like with none at all, I’m thankful even for that small amount.  Of course, that doesn’t mean that I’ll stop complaining anytime in the near future… (kidding!, sort of)
• My thesis being submitted I don’t think this needs any elaboration.
• Having a roof over my head and food in my stomach Living in a city with such a high homeless population really makes you thankful for the small things, especially in this economy.  Things could be so much worse, but at the end of the night, I have everything and more that I absolutely need.
• My faith Sometimes I get distracted by all the little things, but at the end of the day, God is there patiently awaiting me.  If there’s one thing I’ve learned throughout the years, it’s that no matter how many times I turn my back on God, whether it be for five hours, five days, five months or five years, God will always be waiting for me with His arms open.  Always.  That kind of constancy and love are the kind worth waking up in the morning for.

A couple of weeks ago I’ve seen some pictures from London. The pictures of a friend in London. And I’ve remembered places. I don’t know if there will be posts about London as there were about NY or Washington. I do not like London so much. I like places in London but there’s no chemistry between us.
I have photos, videos and memories. I don’t feel the need or desire to return.

It was in 2008 for my 30th birthday. I have mixed feelings about the trip. I cherished some places and I have good memories of them, I cherished others but the memories are a bit hurtful. Especially the ones from June 4th.

And I really tried and succeeded in enjoying Greenwich.

If only it weren’t for the count down…

O terceiro livro da série “Crepúsculo” terminou deixando um grande suspense no ar: se a família Cullen iria ceder as ameaças dos Volturi e transformar Bella em vampira. E a grande expectativa também gira em torno do pedido de casamento proposto do Edward e aceito por Bella.

As respostas a todas estas questões e novas aventuras, além do surgimento de novos personagens marca o quarto livro da série, “Amanhecer”. Um ponto interessante neste volume é que ele é dividido em três partes e narrado não apenas pela narradora que já estamos acostumados, mas também por Jacob.

Bella casa-se com Edward, que faz uma surpresa para a esposa escolhendo como local para a lua de mel, uma ilha privada na costa do Rio de Janeiro, no Brasil, pertencente a Esme, dada de presente pelo seu esposo Carlisle. O acordo firmado entre os dois era que ele transformaria ela em vampira quando ela aceitasse casar com ele. Na ilha, motivados pelo isolamento, privacidade e o clima paradisíaco, eles tiveram a primeira experiência sexual.

Como eles pertencem a espécies diferentes, sendo o vampiro muito forte e, muitas vezes, incapazes de controlar a força quando estão sob forte emoção, e os humanos frágeis e mais sensíveis que os da outra espécie, a relação entre os dois fica ameaçada, porque após a primeira noite de amor, Bella fica coberta de hematomas. Edward não se perdoa e fica irritado consigo mesmo. A garota insiste em que eles tentem de novo e, a princípio relutante, ela o convence e ele cede.

Após novas tentativas, para surpresa de todos que achavam algo desse tipo acontecer, Bella engravida. A funcionária da casa onde eles estão tenta alertar a garota do perigo em que ela está se metendo, prevê o que acontecerá com ela e tenta ajudá-la, mas Bella entende muito pouco o que ela realmente está falando e não dá muita importância.

Edward fica muito surpreso com a inusitada gravidez de Bella e conversa com Carlisle a respeito. Como eles não sabem o que pode acontecer do fruto dessa relação, decidem que seria o melhor e o mais adequado para manter a vida da garota a salvo, fazerem um aborto para que a criança não acabe matando Bella. Ela fica horrorizada com a decisão deles e defende com unhas e dentes o seu filho. E conta com uma ajuda muito importante: Rosalie. Esta nunca quis ser vampira, sempre condenou a vontade de Bella de se tornar uma e brigou com todos que apoiaram essa opção. Com esta novidade da gravidez, Rosalie parte em defesa do bebê e impede que qualquer um encoste na garota para prejudicar o bebê. Mas Rosalie não faz isso para proteger Bella, seus interesses são bem mais egoístas.

O líder dos lobos, Sam, ao descobrir que a garota está esperando um filho de um vampiro, decide que é importante destruir “a criatura”, pois acreditava que seria um perigo à vida de todos. Mas Jacob enfrenta a decisão de Sam e rejeita de todas as formas a destruição do bebê, pois isso significaria a morte de Bella também. A partir daí os conflitos entre a família unida dos lobos dá-se início.

Apesar dos fortes e convincentes argumentos de Jacob, Sam não os aceita e se mostra irredutível, tendo o apoio de todos os membros da alcatéia, exceto o de Seth, que se mantém firme e leal ao lado de Jacob e defende a vida do bebê e de Bella. Sam, então utilizando o argumento de que ele é o lobo alfa, tenta obrigar os dois lobos dissidentes que se unam aos demais para atacarem os Cullen, já que eles, logicamente, defenderiam o bebê e Bella.

Jacob não acata as ordens de Sam e passa a exigir a posse da sua herança sanguínea de alfa, o qual sempre rejeitou, pois considerava que Sam seria um líder muito melhor do que ele. A consequência desse conflito? Jacob abandona o bando, sendo seguido por Seth e, posteriormente, por Leah, irmã de Seth. O novo líder do novo bando decide contar para os Cullen os planos de Sam e, assim, a luta não acontece.

A gravidez de Bella não é normal, de um bebê totalmente humano e, com isso, os processos naturais da gravidez também não seguem os prazos normais e naturais. O bebê se desenvolve muito rapidamente e a medida que a gravidez avança, Bella vai sentindo o pesa da sua escolha em manter o bebê a salvo. Ele suga toda a energia e vitalidade da garota, deixando-a cada vez mais fraca e debilitada. Segundo o médico Carlisle, as chances de Bella sobreviver a essa gravidez são de 50% e se seu coração parasse de bater, nem mesmo o veneno dos vampiros seriam capazes de lhe salvar a vida. A garota estava cada vez mais fraca porque o bebê estava ficando cada dia mais forte que ela e a futura mãe não se alimentava corretamente, já que sempre que tentava comer, o bebê rejeitava o alimento e Bella acabava vomitando. Ao perceber o dilema de Bella, Jacob tem um pensando que é captado por Edward e ele percebe que como o bebê é filho de um vampiro, pode ser que ele esteja na verdade precisando de sangue humano. Edward então sugere que a futura mãe talvez precise beber sangue, o que foi prontamente aceito por ela, já que ela faria qualquer coisa para salvar o filho. Carlisle monta um verdadeiro estoque de sangue em casa, e Bella bebe sempre que o bebê sente fome, sentindo-se prontamente melhor.

A gravidez de Bella é muito sofrida, o bebê cresce de forma muito rápida e a barriga da garota já não suporta mais o tamanho da criança. Toda vez que o bebê espichava mais um pouco, ela quebrava as costelas de Bella. Poucos meses após descobrir que estava grávida, Bella dá a luz e quase morreu, mas em tempo hábil Edward consegue transformá-la em vampira.

Bella descobre que é mãe de uma menina, e para homenagear tanto a mãe como a sogra, ela resolver dar ao bebê o nome de Renesmee, a junção dos nomes René e Esme. Jacob brincava chamando-a carinhosamente de Nessie – uma referência ao monstro do ‘Lago Ness’, o que desagradava muito a Bella, mas com o tempo ela desencana e leva na esportiva.

Ao ver Renesmee, Jacob acaba tendo um imprinting (processo descrito no livro em que os lobos sentem que aquela pessoa será sua quando estiver em idade suficiente para ter um parceiro. Meio como uma premonição e eles assumem a fidelidade total para com a pessoa, cuidando dela desde pequena, se mantendo próximo, até o momento que possa tomá-la como esposa) com ela. Bella fica completamente histérica e indignada com isso, mas depois compreende e eles conseguem conviver com isso em harmonia. O que faz com que Jacob seja uma “babá” perfeita que sempre ajudou Bella e Edward na criação da garota.

Assim como aconteceu quando ainda era um feto, a menina cresce em ritmo acelerado, assustando a todos com a velocidade com que se desenvolvia e como era madura para tão tenra idade. Renesmee apresenta poderes especiais e assustadores para uma criança, o que surpreende a todos os membros da família. Bella, como era uma recém criada foi obrigada a manter distância da filha, para não ser tentada pelo cheiro de sangue que circula nas veias da menina, já que ela é metade humana e metade vampira. Mas Bella se mostra uma excelente recém criada, controlada demais, extremamente forte e ágil.

Irina, pertencente ao clã Denali, que está com muita raiva dos lobos, pois eles mataram Laurent, que era o seu parceiro, quando ele em “Lua Nova” tenta matar Bella, acaba vendo Jacob se transformar em lobisomem, acompanhado de Renesmee e Bella em uma caçada. Irina, com raiva, conta aos Volturi o que viu, achando que a criança é imortal, e segundo a lei dos vampiros, deve ser destruída.

Alice, tem uma visão do que está para acontecer e eles começam a se preparar para a luta. Mas não para brigarem com os Volturi e sim para reunir o maior número possível de vampiros amigos e aliados para servirem de testemunha e dar tempo de os Volturi ao mesmo ouvirem que a criança é filha biológica de Edward e Bella, que crescia e se desenvolvia como humana, possuindo um coração que batia forte no peito e sangue que fluía em suas veias, antes que possam atacar a criança, evitando assim uma terrível batalha.

No processo de recolhimentos das testemunhas, os Cullen enfrentam um pouco de problema. Nem todos querem ser testemunhas e desacreditam no que eles tentam provar, bem como alguns se mantém resistentes no início, mas depois de conviverem um pouco tempo com a criança ficam encantados e conseguem comprovar o que os Cullen alegavam.

Quando os Volturi aparecem, Irina se mostra arrependida do que fez, mas já era tarde. Aro, líder do seu grupo, então usa seus poderes para descobrir toda a verdade através de Edward. Mas independente disso, os outros Volturi não demonstram ter certeza se deixariam Renesmee viver, sob alegação de que a criança poderia representar um perigo. Entretanto, todos os Cullen e algumas das testemunhas que se encantaram pela criança e pela lealdade que tinham pelos Cullen, estavam dispostos a lutar para salvar a criança.

Bella que tem o dom do “escudo” à sua volta, bloqueando qualquer tipo de ataque e defendendo a quem ela ama, utiliza o seu dom evitando o confronto direto, até a chegada de Alice.

Alice e Jasper que tinham ido embora, fazendo a família acreditar que estavam abandonando a fampilia, utilizando isso como estratégia, caso os Volturi invadisse a mente de alguém em busca dos dois membros da família, reaparecem com a solução para o problema. Em uma pesquisa que eles fizeram na América do Sul, eles encontraram um homem, que assim como Renesmee, é meio humano e meio vampiro, provando, assim, que a criança não representa qualquer tipo de perigo. Os Volturi convencidos pela presença do outro meio-imortal, vão embora.

Ao fim, Bella acaba aprendendo a controlar o seu escudo e permite que Edward possa passar a ler seus pensamentos. Como grand finale, ao estilo dos contos de fadas antigos, Bella e Edward vivem felizes… por toda eternidade (ou seria após a vida humana?).

“Amanhecer” encerra com chave de ouro a série “Crepúsculo”. Uma história surpreende que modifica um pouco toda a mitologia que girava em torno dos vampiros. Nos romances de Meyer, as lendas se enfrentam ao mesmo tempo em que convivem em paz e harmonia. O leitor é ainda agraciado com o fato de ter uma visão dos fatos sobre a ótica do Jacob, quando as coisas não estão nada bem para Bella.

Apesar de eu já ter declarado que torcia por Jacob, não havia como eles pudessem ficar juntos, mas Meyer dá ao leitor que torcia por Bella e Jacob, uma nova chance ao jovem lobo, pelo seu imprinting com Renesmee. Jamais pensaria nisso, o que mostra a magnitude de Meyer ao pensar em todos os buracos que poderia surgir na história. Todo o amor que Jacob sentia e sente por Bella sendo transferido para sua filha, simplesmente genial!

The project has taken a new orientation since last week. In few words : the project is about finding a balance, not creating a utopia but giving the tools for autosuficiency. An indipendant ecosystem can only be attained by small ajustments and regulation.

Here is a diagram of two elements we took into account : water and waste.Water is divided into white (drinkable), grey (rain water) and black (cantaminated) water. Each have different treatments or purification. For the project, we need to create artificial evaporation and direct the rain.

Regulation (to be detailed) : an indipendant entity regulates air quality, water volumes. Gives a push when the ecosystem is failing in order to correct mistakes and in time find the right balance.

Speculation :

Habitation bubls are plugged around treatment systems. They link to the machinery underneath and to the fields.

More work to come on fields (parcels/ lots?), on inhabitation (individual/group?, intensive/extensive?…)

The prompt said, “Describe a person who has influenced your life.” For some reason Alice kept thinking about her piano teacher’s dog, a large setter named Clancy.

She aspired to play piano, but rarely practiced. It was hard to play with her mother calling out from the kitchen, “That was lovely, Alice — but isn’t it supposed to be allegro? Are you using the metronome?”

Digamos que la película de Luna Nueva no ha conseguido “Eclipsar” a los libros de Stephenie Meyer.

Después de haber ido a ver El Señor De Los Anillos, salí bastante contenta, puesto que la adaptación era muy similar a los libros, a esa saga…

Esperaba que la mayoría de las sagas fueran igual (no puedo hablar de Harry Potter, ya que sólo leí el séptimo libro)

¿Qué fallos encontré para poder hablar así de una película que no estuvo nada mal? Es decir: “¿por qué te quejas?”

La exageración gusta en el cine, lo morboso, la americanización de los relatos, los finales felices, los dramas… todo eso VENDE! Sí señor, rendirse al dinero en vez de mostrar el libro como es.

¿Fallos que he encontrado?

¡¡¡Spoiler!!! (PD: Si no viste la película, no sigas leyendo)

- Para empezar, el trailer está mal hecho, puesto que (obviamente) se ve que en el claro Bella está con una ropa cuando le ataca Laurent y cuando (supuestamente) va Jacob a salvarle, está con otra, lo cual ya te hace dudar de si… en el libro le salvaba así de Laurent (cosa que no)

- Cuando Bella se corta, no sale corriendo hacia ella Jasper, al menos no de la manera “pasiva” y a la vez exagerada que sucede en la película. Después de esto, Edward “acude” a su casa (pero no cuando está ella) para quitar las fotos de su álbum y el equipo de sonido que le regaló Emmet (todo esto para que parezca que Edward no ha existido). Pero todo esto no sucede antes de que hable con ella, sino mientras ella (supuestamente) se pierde en el bosque y se queda llorando, puesto que al llegar… no queda nada de él.

- Una cosa a destacar en positivo son los lobos, que están muy bien hechos (aunque los personajes no encajen mucho y, con perdón, parezcan más débiles de lo que en el libro parecen)

- Se habla de la fiebre de Jacob en el cine, pero él no se pone violento en el libro, como pasa en la película. En ningún momento (en el cine) le dice Bella que está ardiendo. Y por último, ella no se monta en la moto con ese chico para sentir la adrenalina.

Creo que nada más, porque si sigo sacando fallos con respecto al libro… Por el resto, la adaptación está bien, y es entretenida, sólo que yo “apenas” la disfruté porque soy una maniática de buscar los fallos jajaja

Realmente, la película es buena y mereció la espera, pero destacar sólo esos fallos.

So I was flipping through a magazine today and they had a page of photos of Twilight-themed goods available to buy online. One of these was a wall transfer that said:

It wasn't quite the same as this particular decoration, as it was in gothic script and had the '...' after 'Edward,' but this one is close enough.

 Yep. “I’m just a Bella, waiting for my Edward…” Oh how I lolled.

So I got to thinking about Twilight, which led to thought on vampires in general, and then I came across a general vampire meme, and I thought: I need to blog about this. So here we go, Ace’s Vampire Meme.

Why do you think people are fascinated by vampires?

The thing about vampires is that they appeal to our subconscious. People often associate vampire with death, or with sex, but it’s more than that. Vampires are dead, powerful, faster and stronger than us, dangerous, and often gorgeous and alluring.  They appeal to people because they’re like we are, only better. They’re also the perfect predator. Vampires represent the mysterious, the erotic, the dangerous. They’re all about the repressed or the darker side of our psyche. They’re dangerous, alluring, sexually desirable and aware, near-invulnerable, and they can do anything they like without fear of the consequences. They appeal to us because they are an outlet for all the things in our subconscious that we cannot let out.  In the past 15-20 years there’s been a lot of tortured-soul vampire stuff; from Angel in Buffy or Edward Cullen from Twilight to name the two most well-known examples; and that’s another aspect that appeals to people. Lots of people have some dark secret, some dilemma or addiction that is mucking up their life, and that’s what the ‘vampire as a tortured soul’ stuff really is. It’s a metaphor. So much vampire stuff is a metaphor for something.

 Coolest vampire stuff out there?

Well, obviously Buffy has to be on this list, which in a way is kind of a shame, because it deviates quite a bit from the established vampire mythos of pop culture. Vampires as soulless, ugly demons? Who steal their names from Doctor Who and look like Dark Lords from Harry Potter, only less cool? (You don’t know what I’m talking about, check out this guy. Totally Voldemort with a nose. And with no fashion sense, obviously.) All the same, Buffy is nonetheless a good show and doubtless reinvigorated the vampire mythos for a new decade and a new generation.

My personal favorite part of the vampire pop culture is the Betsy Taylor series of novels by MaryJanice Davidson, about a blonde valleygirl-type airhead who dies and wakes up Queen of the Vampires, much to her horror and dismay. The earlier ones are strongly comic supernatural romance, but the later ones are a lot stronger on plot and a little bit darker as Betsy reluctantly takes on the responsibility of being the Queen.

Finally, Carpe Jugulum (‘Seize the Jugular?’) by Terry Pratchett is awesome, for parodying the vampire genre even as it tells a great story. 

 Since everyone is asking this question; Team Edward or Team Jacob?

*frowny face* Honestly, I don’t particularly like either of them. Let’s go Team Alice. She’s bouncy and fun and slightly eccentric, and the actress who plays her in the movie is pretty, and hot.

Favorite vampire stereotype?

The true predatorial vampires, that is the dangerous killers vs. seducer type, probably, and the ‘Gothic Lolita’ female vampire you see a lot in manga; that is, flirty and feminine and kind of goth, but with frills and lace and cuteness. If they’ve combined gothic vampire dress with cute feminine dress and hairstyle, it’s probably a ’Gothic Lolita’ vampire.

Vad det är skönt när det dyker upp dagar utan en massa måsten! Eller ja, det gamla vanliga vardagstragglet slipper man ju förståss inte undan, men dagar då lägenheten är städad, ingen tvättid är bokad, inga jobbiga ärenden finns att göra. Dagar då man kan ta det lugnt, göra ingenting eller passa på att göra sådant som annars inte hinns med. Som att dricka kaffe i lugn och ro. Eller hänga upp ett par tavlor som stått och skräpat i en garderob det senaste halvåret.

Igår var jag ett vrak. Stress, ångest, rastlöshet, irritation. You know the drill. Som det brukar vara när jag glömt ta min  medicin två dagar i rad. Eller, glömt är kanske fel ord. Attans, medicinen, tänker jag. Den måste jag ta efter att jag gjort ditten och datten. Varpå det aldrig blir av med mental kortslutning som följd.

Men som sagt, idag har varit en bra dag. Det kan till viss del bero på att jag tagit mina piller som jag ska, men framförallt stavas nyckeln till framgång team work. Familjen Svensson/Östlund har fungerat som ett väloljat maskineri idag. Klockan 19.00 var köket städat och två nybadade barn låg och sussade sött i sina sängar. Not bad, huh? Mer så tack!

Det är också sådana här dagar som man inser varför man älskar ungarna så innerligt trots utbrott, vaknätter och faktumet att man aldrig får vara ifred. Alice har varit på sitt allra ljuvligaste humör och skrattat mest hela tiden och Noah överöste mig med blöta pussar när jag hämtade från dagis. Vi lagade mat tillsammans alla tre och Noah var så fantastiskt duktig. Mycket kärlek i den köttfärssåsen!

70 artisti uniti per il grande amore

ROMA – Claudio Baglioni fa le cose in grande. Da sempre ma soprattutto in questi ultimi anni. Da quando l’anno scorso ha ripreso in mano Questo Piccolo Grande Amore, il concept album uscito nel 1972, non si è più fermato. Ne ha tratto un libro, un film diretto dal regista Riccardo Donna, e un tour. Ha ritrovato le canzoni di allora, le ha rimodellate modernizzandole senza stravolgerle, se n’è innamorato di nuovo e oggi torna a presentare l’ultima fatica, quella che metterà la parola fine al progetto Q.P.G.A.. Un nuovo album, doppio, che esce venerdì 27 novembre e che contiene cinquantadue brani, di cui quindici sono la rivisitazione dei vecchi pezzi, altri sono reinvenzioni totali o parziali con testi o musiche diverse, altri ancora sono inediti. Uniti dal tema del primo amore: “quello che non dura tutta la vita ma te la cambia per sempre”, ha detto il cantautore.

Tra gli ospiti che hanno partecipato al concertopera, o all’opera rock – come la definisce Baglioni stesso – ci sono Mina (L’arcobaleno), Franco Battiato (Sembra il primo giorno), Elio e le storie tese, Fiorello, Antonello Venditti, il maestro Ennio Morricone (al piano in Questo piccolo grande amore), Renzo Arbore e Morgan (Buon compleanno), Riccardo Cocciante e nuovi talenti come Giusy Ferreri, Alessandra Amoroso e Noemi. Un record, un grande amore che unisce la musica italiana, in tutto 70 artisti.

Musica rinata dunque tra ouverture, preludi, interludi, temi e melodie: “Q.P.G.A. è un disco talmente nuovo – ha spiegato Baglioni – dalle fondamenta al tetto, non una semplice riscrittura ma una scrittura musicale completamente rinnovata. Una partitura nella quale si fondono brani editi e inediti con brani e momenti musicali che nascono dalla contaminazione degli uni e degli altri. Temi melodici che vengono, di volta in volta, annunciati, abbozzati, suggeriti, sviluppati, enunciati, ripresi, smontati e rimontati”.

Lo sviluppo del doppio album è quasi sinfonico con diversi caratteri melodici che come i personaggi della storia d’amore, cambiano posizionamento sulla “scena” della narrazione musicale, diventando, di volta in volta, protagonisti, antagonisti, comprimari, personaggi di seconda linea o semplici voci di coro. “Al centro della narrazione musicale c’è – ha continuato Baglioni – la storia di Giulia e Andrea: lei alla vigilia della maturità, lui matricola di architettura, lei centro, lui periferia. Ma mentre il rapporto tra i due (sempre presenti, ma mai nominati nei dischi: nè in quello del ‘72, ne’ in questo) è durato appena un anno, il mio rapporto con la loro storia è andato avanti per quarant’anni”.

Baglioni ripartirà in tournée con Q.P.G.A. concertopera a partire dal 5 dicembre a Milano al teatro degli Arcimboldi, con tappe poi a Padova, Napoli, Firenze, Roma, Bologna e Genova.
