My flash, We Who Are Ernest Now Salute You, is up over at AlienSkin Magazine.

It’s tongue-in-cheek silliness, a flashback, I suppose, to my years living in Key West. I must admit that I never saw an actual minion of pure evil in the Southern-Most City. At least, I don’t think so. In Key West, it’s hard to tell.

Got an e-mail today from Katherine A. Patterson, senior editor at AlienSkin Magazine, to tell me they have accepted my flash, We Who Are Ernest Now Salute You, for the October/November 2009 issue.

The story is all about demons, angels and a dying man’s last wish to meet Ernest Hemingway.  I’ll provide a link when it’s published.

Remember that very, very short story of mine that was a runner up in the Concept Sci-fi Magazine micro-fiction competition?

Well I’ve just heard from AlienSkin Magazine that they have accepted it for publication!

That’s a lot of mileage from just 150 words, I reckon!

OK… I feel like it is time that I reveal some of my most coveted photographic secrets, because I am sure there are many people who would like to know the secrets to my photographic success… so as painful as this full-disclosure will be, here goes….

1) I am not a naturally organized person… as you can see from the suitcases that have exploded all over the living room after Arann and I returned from our annual Christmas in Illinois vacation.

2) I received dinosaur glow-in-the-dark children’s onesie pj’s for Christmas… and they fit, but I can’t raise my arms very high.

3) Sometimes I use Alienskin’s Exposure plug-in for Photoshop to make my digital photos resemble my most favorite types of film. I just found out about this plug-in a couple of months ago and I am a big fan… especially because it gives me a quick easy fix when I want to convert my digital files to black and white.

And out of the three of my secrets, I recommend the Alienskin secret the most, if you want to make your digital photos a little bit better and have fun at the same time, although the glow-in-the-dark-onesie is pretty fun too, but it is a little more claustrophobic inducing.
