Alina Kabaeva is a Russian former rythmic gymnast, turned model, turned politician. She is the current State Duma deputee from the Party of United Russia since 2007, and before was known to lead a sports-related career in rhythmic gymnastics.

Kabayeva possesses high inborn flexibility. She stands 5′4”and weighs 106lbs. She is Russia’s most successful rhythmic gymnast to date, and is also one of the most decorated gymnasts in the history of rhythmic gymnastics with 18 World Championship medals, 2 Olympic medals and 25 European Championship medals. Via intrepid correspondent C. Dave we have learned of a top-secret concert in a snowy Siberian fortress…

The musical guest was Australian cover band “Bjorn Again,” who are known for their faithful performances of ABBA classics.

The gig was booked in a mysterious fashion, and the band was transported for many hours from Moscow, with no knowledge of their whereabouts.

Before going onstage, they were strictly instructed not to directly engage the audience in any way.

Once they did hit the stage, the small audience was obscured by a gauzy curtain.

But according to the performers, they soon figured out who they were performing for…

It was…drum roll please…oh the hell with it, you obviously know who it’s gonna be…

Here’s the amazing story from the UK’s TELEGRAPH:

Only nine people were at the gig, an operation so cloak and dagger that net curtains were erected between the stage and the seating to protect the privacy of Mr Putin and a female companion.

In what could deal a fatal blow to his hardman image, the politician belted out the lyrics to Honey Honey and danced with Kremlin officials to Super Trouper, as Kalashnikov-wielding guards patrolled the building.

Details emerged for the first time yesterday about the show which took place in the snowbound resort of Lake Valdai, nine hours outside Moscow, on January 22.

Bjorn Again’s founder, Rod Stephens, recalled: “I got a phone call before Christmas. The voice on the end of the phone said, ‘Kremlin… Russia… Moscow… we want your band’. I could tell that he was translating someone else’s words. I thought it was someone in the band winding me up and told them to send me an email.”

The offer, however, was deadly serious. The four band members and their crew flew to Moscow, where they were taken on a nine hour coach journey to the mystery location.

Jennifer Robb, who performs as Anni-Frid, said: “We arrived at a building which looked like a big stronghold with metal security gates. We had to put all our belongings through an X-ray machine. They took us to a guest house for the night and the next day we were taken for lunch at a canteen full of security guards and soldiers. The security was very tight and there were cameras everywhere. At one point I went outside to get some fresh air and there was a man with a machine gun who said something in Russian and made it very clear that I wasn’t allowed to wander anywhere on my own.

“The room where we performed had a stage with three sofas in front of it. That was it. Two of the sofas had white net curtains in front of them. The prime minister was sitting behind one of the curtains with a woman who was wearing a long, cream dress. She had short, fair hair. The prime minister was wearing a tuxedo and bow tie. The others were all men and wearing tuxedos too. They must have been security people.

“The prime minister didn’t stand but he and his wife, or whoever it was, were jigging about on the sofa and singing the words to Honey Honey. All his officials were singing away and doing a finger-pointing dance. They really got into it, even though there were only nine of them. At the end, the prime minister shouted ‘bravo, bravo’ and gave us great applause.”

The running order included singalong hits Waterloo, Money, Money, Money, Dancing Queen and Mamma Mia. Miss Robb said: “It was the most bizarre gig I have ever done. At first it was a little scary and we did feel a bit vulnerable at times because we didn’t know where we were, but in the end it was an amazing experience and definitely one to tell the grandchildren.”

After a breakfast of beetroot, they were escorted back to the airport. Mr Putin paid £20,000 for the hour-long show. “I wish I’d asked for twice as much now,” Mr Stephens said.

Time for a musical interlude!

We’d never heard of what’s apparently Putin’s favorite ABBA song, “Honey Honey,” so here it is performed by the original Swedish superstars!

Of course, Putin totally denies that this ever took place:

Putin’s spokesman Dmitry Peskov reacted after the London-based Bjorn Again, a long-established act that imitates 1970s pop super-group ABBA, said it had put on a show, cloaked in secrecy, for Putin…

“I can tell you officially and for sure Vladimir Putin never took part in any concert of the kind. He wasn’t there,” Peskov said.

However the musicians’ manager, Rod Stephen, said he was in little doubt about whom the concert was for, and one of the band’s singers said she saw Putin himself at the performance.

“It was quite obvious where Mr Putin was sitting,” Aileen McLaughlin, who doubles for blonde ABBA vocalist Agnetha Faltskog, told AFP by phone from London.

“I got a glimpse of his face in the lights.”

Stephen, also speaking by phone from London, said the band had been told beforehand that the show was for Putin.

We know one thing for sure, it definitely wasn’t the other top Kremlin official, Putin’s minion Dmitri Medvedev – because his tastes are a lot harder rocking. In fact, Medvedev ordered up a personal Deep Purple concert last year!

The more we learn about the Russian dictatorship, the more we love it.

One final item. It’s possible that Putin is denying the secret Bjorn Again concert took place on his watch because he doesn’t want to look soft.

Or it might be because he is continuing to step out on his wife with super hot, Olympic-medal-winning Russian gymnast Alina Kabaeva!

Look, if you ordered up a secret ABBA concert for your goomah and your posse, would you want your wife and the world to know about it?

We didn’t think so.

Ecco com’è andata quando la giornalista russa Natalia Melikova ha fatto domande a Putin sulla sua relazione con la campionessa olimpica Alina Kabaeva, e Berlusconi è intervenuto facendo il gesto di spararle con un mitra.

When you’re the despotic leader of a former superpower who has been forced by silly constitutional rules into an ostensibly ceremonial Prime Minister position so you can maintain an iron-grip on your country, sometimes you need something different in your life. Also, French President Nicholas Sarkozy has been traipsing around Europe showing off his new supermodel wife getting all the publicity and attention and it simply isn’t fair! Finally, seeing as how, besides Richard Branson, Vladimir Putin is the closest thing we have in the world to a legitimate Bond villain, it only makes sense that he took umbrage to these offenses and finally upgraded his accessories to fit his lifestyle.

Since 1983 Putin was married to a woman named Lyudmila–it just rolls off the tongue so lyrically doesn’t it–whom he met after she graduated college and who is quite the handsome woman. In fact, she kinda looks like what the offspring of Hillary Clinton and Liza Minnelli would be, spooky.

It seems, though, that he’s decided to trade in for a newer model; maybe not the classiest thing to do, but that’s the course he’s taken. Clearly peeved that Sarkozy was getting so much worldwide attention, Putin started to feel marginalized, like his giant stocks of nuclear weapons were meaningless solely because some French philanderer banged a supermodel. Russian pride was on the line! Like any good Bond villain, he needs appropriate arm-candy to be respected at the secret evil-doers meetings that are held, someone who will steal the eyes of men around him as he plays baccarat in Monaco so he can pour poison into someone’s glass. You know, the standard affairs of state.

Attempting to one-up Sarkozy’s catch, Putin has started seeing Alina Kabaeva, a 24 year old gold medal winning gymnast, known particularly for her extreme flexibility, turned representative in the Russian Duma for Youth Rights.

Hot.

For Putin, who has daughters aged 22 and 21, this might be just a little awkward, but he’s a man of action so it shouldn’t dissuade him much; Putin is not one to shy away from the young, after all he’s always been a lover of children. I’m sure it was a hard choice, after all, Lyudmila had been a seemingly loyal partner for decades, but Kabaeva can easily flip her legs over her head. This is why Putin is so loved in Russia, his decision-making ability. I feel confident that the majority of Russia would have made the same move. Putin is a man who knows what to think with, anytime you can get a girl who can contort her body like that, you jump at that opportunity.

The biggest regret about this whole situation is that these one-upmanship world leaders battles of dating and marrying the super-hot women began after Bill Clinton was out of office! If there is any leader who would have loved to have gotten into this steamy style of affair it is ol’ Bill, but now, it’s too late and he won’t ever have the chance. I consider it a travesty. Bill could have dated Britney Spears, back when she was hot, think of the prestige that would have given our country and government! Alas, we were left with this instead…

Anyway, Alina Kabaeva is a smokeshow and I salute Putin for putting his interests out there and taking what he wanted. I don’t remember ever seeing Stalin with any hot broads so this is one more thing that Putin has over ol’ Unky Joe.

La Federación Nacional de la Prensa Italiana (FNSI) criticó y calificó de “pesada” la broma gastada hoy por Silvio Berlusconi a una periodista rusa, a la que hizo un gesto como si le apuntara con un fusil, después de que ésta hiciera a Vladimir Putin una pregunta sobre su vida que no gustó al presidente ruso.
(…) “A veces las bromas pueden ser pesadas, sobre todo si se tiene en cuenta que en Rusia en los últimos diez años han sido asesinados más de 200 periodistas y no se han encontrado a sus asesinos”, denunció Franco Siddi, secretario general de la FNSI.

 La criticada broma se produjo durante la rueda de prensa que ofrecieron en Villa Certosa, una de las villas que tiene Il Cavaliere en Cerdeña, construida en la Costa Smeralda.

 En un momento de la entrevista, una periodista rusa se dirigió a Putin y le dijo: “¿Es verdad que se está divorciando?”. La pregunta estaba relacionada con las informaciones aparecidas recientemente en la prensa rusa sobre una posible relación sentimental de Putin con la joven campeona de gimnasia rítmica y actual diputada Alina Kabáeva.
El ambiente distendido en el que se estaba desarrollando la rueda de prensa se enfrió en un segundo. Putin cambió de rostro, pero no eludió la pregunta y tras afirmar “yo sólo respondo a preguntas serias” añadió: “no hay ni una palabra de verdad” (sobre ese tema).

 Para quitar hierro y devolver la distensión, Berlusconi echó mano a una de sus bromas y dirigió su mirada hacia la periodista rusa, mientras que con sus manos le apuntaba como si tuviese un fusil. A la vez, riendo, decía a Putin: “si quieres un cambio entre la prensa italiana y la rusa, me encargo yo.”

 Concluida la rueda de prensa, según testigos presenciales citados por los medios italianos, la periodista rusa, Natalia Melikowa, de Nezavsinaya Gazeta, rompió a llorar y a quienes le preguntaron la causa contó que había visto el tono de Putin y “el gesto” de Berlusconi y que aunque le habían dicho que era un bromista…

 Berlusconi se acercó a la periodista rusa y riendo le dijo “te esperamos la próxima vez” y tras presentar a Putin a todos los periodistas italianos presentes cuando llegó el turno de uno conocido por sus críticas a Il Cavaliere le dijo: “déjame a esa periodista y yo te mando a este”.

 Tras las críticas de la FNSI, el portavoz de Berlusconi, Paolo Bonaiuti, afirmó que sólo se trató de una “broma y nada más”.

There’s so much to discuss here. But first, lets clear the issue of the story’s validity and factuality (is that a word?) right away.

There isn’t any. Lets consider the sources. One, I first came across this story via Gawker. Second, it’s regarding Motherland Russia. So, is this story true? Who the fuck knows. But lets just enjoy it as if it is true like if I told you that the French President’s new wife, a former model, recently had a nude photograph of her auctioned off at Christie’s.

So what is Putin’s new object of affection doing in her post-gymnast life? You guessed it too?! Wow, who would have thought we’d BOTH correctly guess that she is now a member of the Russian parliament. Lets all pat ourselves on the back. Shoot, I can’t because I’m not very flexible. But you know is? Alina Kabaeva, the future Mrs. Putin. And cue YouTube.

And because Putin could have me disappear at any moment, I want to just state that for the record I’m so happy for this couple.

Various European newspapers are reporting that Russian President, Vladimir Putin, is dumping his frumpy 50-year-old wife (pictured above) and is about to marry a 24-year-old rhythmic gymnastics medalist.

Alina Kapaev is less than HALF PUTIN’S AGE. She is currently one of Russia’s top models.
