David Ryan Harris – All I Need

This has to be one of my all-time favorite songs! I’m surprised that I haven’t chosen this as a “Song of the Day” yet. David Ryan Harris isn’t as well known as a solo act, but he’s also John Mayer’s second lead guitarist. His CD is great, David is definitely someone you should be looking at in the future.

This. Is. Why. I. Love. This. Band.
It is an overcast day here in LA, and this song and this version of it, is just sheer perfection for today. I spent months not listening to this song, because it reminded me of someone that I really could not think about. Thanks to a two sentence pep talk from Travis, that was kind of like a quick little slap to the face to tell me to snap out of it, I can now listen to this song loud and proud and dedicate it to myself… because lets face it, at some point, no one is going to love and respect you more than you love and respect yourself.

If you wake up every morning, look in the mirror and are extremely proud of the person you are and the way you treat other people, then that is really all you can hope for.

Travis note: I wake up in the morning, look in the mirror at my bloated face and curse your name for introducing me to Flipsides and spreadable cheese. Damn you Jenn Klein!!!

Please don’t watch this if you want to keep believing that the world is warm and fuzzy place.

El año pasado Radiohead y MTV se unieron para grabar este videoclip en el se usó la canción “All I Need”, extraída del último álbum de los británicos, In Rainbows.

El mensaje es claro y contundente y creo que no hace falta agregar nada al respecto.

MTV Exit es una campaña promovida por la fundación MTV Europa, con la que se busca alertar sobre los peligros de la explotación y el tráfico de personas.

Never liked Radiohead before but their new album is genius! Although I’m a little against watching videos to hear a new song (since it should be the music and not the video where the focus should lie) here’s my favorite (even if all are good).

 Jay-Z – “All I Need“

Almost every song on The Blueprint is a classic (not to mention #464 on Rolling Stone’s 500 Greatest Album’s of All Time), but “All I Need” has always been a favorite of mine.  The track was produced by Bink!, another amazing musician out of Virginia who is as relevant today as he was then (he has tracks on both Rick Ross’s new album and Meth and Red’s comeback album “Blackout 2“). Bump this in your car!

Der zweite Tag in St.Pölten fing für mich spät vormittags an, obwohl meine Nachbarn schon in aller Herrgottsfrühe zur lauten Musik aus ihrem Ghettoblaster feierten. Die Sonne strahlte mir ins Gesicht und so wurde kurzerhand an der Traisen gefrühstückt, mit den Füßen im Wasser. Herrlich! Nach ein paar lustigen Stunden am Campingplatz ging’s endlich ab zum Festivalgelände – der zweite Frequency-Tag konnte beginnen!!!

Also, meine Top 3 Bands des zweiten Frequency-Tages sind:

1. Radiohead: Meine Vorfreude die Briten endlich live zu erleben war groß und meine Erwartungen wurden definitiv übertroffen.           Radiohead lieferten eine souveräne & qualitative  Show ab. Die Bühne war mit den herunterhängenden Lichtsäulen ein echter Blickfang und die Videowall sehr künstlerisch gestaltet. Leider haben sie „Creep“ nicht zum Besten gegeben, aber Songs wie „All I Need“ sorgten bei mir für Gänsehaut. Bei diesem Auftritt war das Motto „Lean back, let it all in and relax“, für einige wohl zu langweilig, denn ein paar Leute verließen die Race Stage und sahen sich stattdessen lieber die Show von „Grace Jones“ an. Aber , für mich…Top Performance von Radiohead!

Auf YouTube habe ich zwei Videos vom „Radiohead“-Auftritt in St.Pölten gefunden:

2. Bloc Party: Ich bin verliebt! Oja, ich habe mich am Frequency verschossen. Und zwar in Kele Okereke! Verdammt, sein Lächeln ist ja wirklich unglaublich sexy und so gut gelaunt wie er bei dem Auftritt war, war ich zum ersten Mal in meinem Leben kurz davor, auch mal „Ich will Kinder von dir!“ zu schreien. „Bloc Party“ gaben Gas und bei „Mercury“ nahm Kele dem Kameramann sogar die Kamera weg und filmte kurzerhand mal selbst. Auf die Aussage von Kele: „We haven’t been in Austria for a long time. Have u missed us?“ kreischte das Publikum los!..Alles in allem: Geniale Show!

Hier gibt’s noch ein Video von „Flux and Helicopter“. Bei diesem Song umarmte Kele ganz liebevoll seine Gitarre:

3. Little Boots/Farin Urlaub Racing Team: Den dritten Platz am Tag 2, müssen sich zwei teilen. Konnte mich einfach nicht entscheiden. „Little Boots“ überzeugte mich mit der funkigen Elektro-Pop-Synthie-Musik und einer sehr sympathischen Art von Victoria Christina Hesketh! Bei „Remedy“ brachte sie die kleine Menge vor der Green Stage zum Brodeln! Super!  Farin Urlaub ist zwar wirklich nicht mehr der Jüngste, aber sein Racing Team half ihm auf jeden Fall mit den zahlreichen Fans abzufeiern und die Sau raus zu lassen!

Obwohl Gewitter angesagt wurde, gab es zum Glück keinen Tropfen Regen zu spüren. Erst so um 3h in der Früh tröpfelte es ein wenig, aber im Nightpark konnte man sich gut ablenken und den aufregenden zweiten Tag ausklingen lassen! So und morgen folgt der letzte Bericht vom Frequency 09, nämlich vom dritten und letzten Tag mit vielen Highlights!

Ed ecco che ancora una volta il gruppo inglese stravolge le logiche di mercato delle case discorgrafiche.  Il pezzo è infatti scaricabile dal sito ufficiale della band al simbolico prezzo di una sterlina. La nuova canzone è dedicata a Harry Patch e infatti si intotola Harry Patch (in memory of).
