On October 20^th, our Ugandan prayer movement will link up live to join the AlphaUSA ministry through prayer during their conference.  This is the first time we are linking live through web casting.  We have a team working on all the technology required for this to happen.  Our prayer teams are looking forward to praying for and with the world.  Please pray that all goes well on this event!

I counted this morning that I’ve spent 12 nights in my own bed since Oct 7th and will be in it 11 times until Dec 7th.  That’s pretty crazy.  But that’s my life sometimes.

So to catch you up here’s what I’ve been up to.

Oct 24 – 26 I attended the LDI Convention in Las Vegas.  It’s for all of us ADD technical people.  It’s where everyone who owns anything LED, Moving Lights, Lights, or staging ideas goes to exhibit.  It’s in Las Vegas – which I’m totally over – but it was a really good weekend to catch up on ideas and see the latest and greatest.

Oct 29 – 31 I fly out to do an event for Alpha USA. A pretty cool organization out of England that gives people the opportunity to explore the meaning of life. Bear Grylls has gone through the course and gave a big endorsement. Ruth Graham (daughter of Billy Graham) spoke and worship was lead by Brendon Brown. The event was held in Laguna Beach, CA at the Montage Resort – Un—-believable:

During our trip to Orange County we had the opportunity to stop by and meet the folks from Mariners Church. Mariners is hosting Catalyst West Coast in April so we were there doing a site visit to dream and plan for set designs and concepts.

I left our team there on Friday (why I don’t know) and headed to Pittsburgh for the National Youth Workers Convention. YS is a convention that we’ve been involved with since it started. Lanny and Tic (tops dogs of our organizations) have been friends since the 80’s. So they’ve been doing ministry a very long time. For about 4 years now we’ve been heavily involved with the graphic content and branding of the conventions with the help of Brad Sitton.

So anyway. Each segment of this post deserves it’s own post but for now you’ll get the cliff notes.

Today Amanda and I head out to Sonoma County, CA to the Fairmont Sonoma Mission and Spa for a little vaca and reconnect. No gigs, No work, No cell phone, No kids – just us and the fermented grapes.
We are gonna have a blast.

Todd Hunter, who is the national director of Alpha USA, sent me some information on an upcoming conference on the subject of conversational evangelism.

Todd says,

As you know, I’ve been a keen observer of our changing culture and its impact on churches, especially in relation to the task of evangelism.

Many intelligent, committed Christians are stalled when it comes to evangelism. They want to share their faith, but they know instinctively that the evangelistic approaches that were effective in a previous world are likely to be experienced negatively by people shaped by today’s culture. They don’t know where or how to begin, so consequently they do nothing; and feel guilty about their failure …

The conference is “Conversational Evangelism Conference” on March 9th -10th at Rock Harbor Church in Costa Mesa and will include Todd Hunter, Lee Strobel, Mark Mittelberg, Becky Pippert, and Garry Poole.

Says Todd,
