Okay so this whole “controversy” over Adam Lambert’s performance on Sunday’s

Okay so this whole “controversy” over Adam Lambert’s performance on Sunday’s AMA’s is really pissing me off. I watched the AMA’s (American Music Awards) even though I normally don’t interest myself in those things, but nothing else was on and they kept promoting him as the finale and having been a huge fan during Idol I was interested. I watched the performance and didn’t think anything of it at all. It was a over the top and it wasn’t the kind of music I expected from him, but I liked it and thought it was catchy. I’d been following the #AMA twitter buzz and a pour of anti-gay comments began to flood through, but I just shut off twitter and left it at that.

Until the next morning when I hear that his ABC Good Morning America concert was canceled because of complaints due to his performance and that the performance was censored for the West Coast. WTF? I’m still uncertain of what he did that was wrong, other than of course be a man and be gay. Clearly these things are just too horrendous. Britney Spears does the same kind of dance moves all the time, expect she barely wears clothes when she does it. Plus, who cares that he kissed another guy, would it be a big deal if he had kissed a girl? Or what about the comparison that everyone else makes of Britney and Madonna kissing?

I hate these fucking double standards in the media.

His performance was no different than anyone else’s except his gender and sexual orientation. I’m so happy that he refused to apologize on the Early Show. In fact I agree with everything he said in the interview.

Bravo Adam.

Also, the song “For Your Entertainment” is completely stuck in my head. Watch the video.

I debated for about half a minute about writing this, so close to Thanksgiving and all, and so much

I debated for about half a minute about writing this, so close to Thanksgiving and all, and so much to be thankful for right now, but this is just one issue I can’t remain silent on.

So American Idol runner-up Adam Lambert appeared on the American Music Awards the other night — during which he kissed a male keyboard player, grabbed a female dancer’s crotch, dragged another around by her ankles and mimed getting oral sex from a male dancer. Big deal right?? It’s ART people, for God’s sake — and don’t even tell me no one was aware it was coming down the pipe. They do have dress rehearsals for these things. Anyway, it’s not his performance that bothered me (although I wasn’t a fan of the song), it’s what ABC’s “Good Morning America” did that I have a huge problem with.

After allegedly receiving 1,500 viewer complaints about what is being referred to as a “sexually charged” performance by Lambert on the ABC broadcast , (“sexually charged” is a network execs way of saying “holly crap, I’m turned on, and I don’t know why, so we probably shouldn’t air this). GMA caved to the pressure of 1,500 irate AMA viewers, and pulled the plug on the appearance. “Given his controversial live performance on the American Music Awards we were concerned about airing a similar concert so early in the morning,” reads a statement from the network. Oh please, don’t these people produce the Bachelor?? Oh sorry, that’s multi-hetero kissing — apparantly that’s ok.

What ABC did next, has made things even worse. GMA is taking another hit from feminists and gay activists as it’s learned they will air an interview and performance by convicted felon Chris Brown next week. Brown was sentenced in August to 6 months labour and 5 years probation for beating girlfriend/singer Rihanna. Watts up with this GMA?? It seems as GMA plans for the depature of Diane Sawyer, they are attemtping to up the presence of Robin Roberts, but in the process seem to be doing more damage than good. Roberts will be conducting the interview with Brown, My guess is they will go ahead with the interview but not allow him to perform. Anything for ratings, except air a gay man, cause HE might do something crazy on live TV. Aren’t they worried Chris Brown might pop Robin Roberts in the face if he doesn’t like the questions?? I’m just saying.

The Gay and Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation (GLAAD) issued this statement late Tuesday about the decision by ABC’s “Good Morning America” to cancel Lamberts’ scheduled performance. GLAAD Statement reads; “Some music performances, regardless of the sexual orientation of the performer, are tailored for a primetime audience but not for a morning show audience,” GLAAD President Jarrett Barrios continues; “It is disappointing that ‘Good Morning America’ did not give Adam Lambert the opportunity to tailor his performance to their audience, as he did on their show in August 2009,” when he performed the Muse cover “Starlight.”

This is not the first time GLAAD has had an issue with ABC. When ABC attempted to jump start Elizabeth Vargas’s debut as a news reader on 20/20 in Nov 2004 with a story about how the murder of Mathew Shepard was not a hate crime, GLAAD had a field day with ABC. I actually produced an hour long piece for PBS showing all the innacuracies in the 20/20 piece, to the point the story was laughable, except to the family of Mathew Shepard. At that time GLAAD (which also appeared in my piece, as did a response from ABC) released this Statement; “ABC’S Hindsight on Matthew Shepard’s Murder Far Less Than ‘20/20′;” Executive Director Joan M. Garry: “This Simply is Not a Credible Piece of Journalism”.

Anyways, for a Network that boasts two openly gay anchors, I find this latest censorship surprising, and sad. ABC claims its not about his sexual identity, it never is, until its expressed and people get uncomfortable. But we can watch morning TV and see a woman with her faced ripped off by a monkey, Child killers, pedophiles and murderers (and apparantly women beaters) they fly to NY for a weekend getaway to tell their story, but now they get morals and draw the line at this??

After ABC cancelled Lambert, CBS seized the opportunity and booked Lambert. I do applaud CBS, not just for the marketing sensibility of it, but for giving Adam Lambert the opportunity to perform on their morning show and tell his story. But, I have to admit I was a little disappointed by Lambert’s passive stance against ABC “I respect their decision” Oh come on man grow some balls!!! Anyways, not since nipple-gate have we seen such a “scandal” Come on people, really, the biggest mistake for ABC was cancelling Lambert, exposing their deep rooted inner fear of people that are different, and how what they really fear, is how will it affect the bottom dollar. Adam Lambert said it best (sang it best) in his rendition of “Mad World” – “And I find it kinda funny, I find it kinda sad” Have a Good Holiday, and be kind to those who are different.
Peace, Steph

A few years ago I recall there was a WNBA game at Madison Square Garden during which lesbians stage

A few years ago I recall there was a WNBA game at Madison Square Garden during which lesbians staged a “kiss in” for whatever reason they thought they had to. My guess is the motivation was pure attention seeking and a need to be seen but who knows. I remember feeling very strongly that not only was it inappropriate because most obviously people brought their children to the games, but also because we as adults should have the right to enjoy ourselves on our free time without having some sexual political agenda being forced down our throats while we are there. If I want to support gay rights I will go to a meeting where it is presented not to Disney World ,professional sporting events or anything else that falls under the umbrella of leisurely activity for me and my family. The awful behavior by Adam Lambert, some American Idol singer on ABC’s AMA award show last night, struck me in exactly the same way. It was grossly self indulgent and highly inappropriate . Those of us with cynical minds may sneer and say thats what made it great , that it said screw all convention and was a charged performance. (I have mistakenly always assumed performances required talent.)Once again I will answer .. Why should my leisure family time be infested with some person’s obssesive need to be seen in a vulgar way or by some hidden agenda by a pseudo political group? Why are the needs of some perverted ,greedy individual or the agenda of a gay rights group and the money it can possibly generate more important than the rights of our children and the decency and respect we as adults should be offered on our free time? Adults have the right to choose if they want to be involved in some political cause or go to a racy sex show . That is what makes our country great. However ,it becomes distinctly wrong when an adults choose to do something like go to a sporting event and it is shoved down their throats. Or possibly their 10 year old daughter has a passion for music and a parent chooses to put on the AMA awards ( network tv: ABC) so she can see professionals perform and is victimized by the egocentric ,money motivated, self indulgent antics of some gay singer. Will this all end when we finally have achieved full dissolution of the family in this country? Furthermore if you are someone who still believes in family and has certain values where do you turn?? I can tell you this with certainty…What we are allowing and choosing as a society is tremedously compromising to the fabric and integrity of the family in America. Our children are learning that that the expression of an individual even if it is sexual ,violent and evil and the need to make money are more important than their own self worth.

Adam Lambert…oh what an interesting case it is for me to discuss, yet I feel the need to the m

Adam Lambert…oh what an interesting case it is for me to discuss, yet I feel the need to the more I read about recent happenings.

Briefly, to sum up what I’m about to post about:

-I dislike Adam Lambert. Obviously not because he’s gay, but because I dislike American Idol and those involved in it usually. Also, the fact that his voice sounds like grating metal when he hits high notes irks me a bit. Just not my cup of tea. You understand?

*Image from Photobucket.

-Adam here was at the AMA’s (American Music Awards) a few nights ago. He decided to willingly and knowingly to [attempt to] break the sex/gender norm and present in a very high sexually driven way (see Lady Gaga’s skin colored outfit with a strap on etc, and Rihanna’s band outfit that left little work for the imagination…also featured in the AMA’s).

-Adam did perform. He sexy danced with a keyboardist, pushed some other guy’s face into his crotch momentarily, and then proceeded to also make out with the guitarist.

-Such blatant homosexuality! On national television?! The people wouldn’t have it. Over 1500 complaints to the station, and he was even canceled on Good Morning America. He plans to appear on another talk show to explain the performance, but for now it seems that no one wants to touch him with a ten foot pole.

Let me now quote someone from another site who stated:

If Lambert hadn’t kissed that boy, no one would care about that performance.

Honestly, I couldn’t agree more. You watch the video and it’s truly almost difficult to catch these moments unless you are looking for them specifically. I have to drop my normal feminist tendencies to say, “WTF!?” If Lady Gaga and Rihanna can do what they did at the AMA’s without complaint, and the damn BritneyxMadonna kiss was so hyped to the point of insanity…what is wrong with this? Why is it that the MSM (mainstream media) can allow two women to be together so all the straight men can get off, but a gay guy appears and he’s automatically crucified? For a performance…at an award show known for crazy performances?

Really people. What did you expect? And how were you shocked by this? I smell sexism…as always.

I say: Adam, keep doing what you’re doing. Tear down society’s stupid sexist expectations and throw a knife into their comfort zone. Get it, legit.

~Peace.

(Source: Flynet)

Taylor rocked the Evening News Arena at Manchester as her Fearless tour conquers the UK. Her previous concert at Wembley Arena left no doubt as to why Taylor was worthy of her title as CMA’s Entertainer of the Year and AMA’s Artist of the Year.

Not one to hug the spotlight alone, Taylor has been sharing the love – and I’m not talking about the 13,000 pounds she gave to BBC’s Children in Need.

She made sure Justin Bieber was ok after the Canadian youngster fractured his foot at Wembley Arena. Justin was the opening act for the UK chapter of the Fearless tour. He recovered for the concert at Manchester.

Over in the US, Taylor was also partly responsible for the success of the surprise Breakthrough Artist of the Year, Gloriana, during the American Music Awards.

Yes, a country group from Nashville beat Lady Gaga herself.

In their acceptance speech they were gracious enough to acknowledge that mainstream media didn’t know who they were: “We’re Gloriana, we’re a country group from Nashville. Can we get a show of hands real quick, everybody who said who the heck is Gloriana?”

(Source: Jason Merritt/Getty Images)

They started by thanking Taylor herself as she handpicked them to open the US chapter of her Fearless tour.

Fan-voted awards imply that if you’re a fan you must vote. As American Idol and all its incarnations have shown us, great stars often lose in the voting without enough support. Gloriana had the advantage of exposure to Taylor Swift fans which are very tech savvy.

Congratulations, Gloriana. Mainstream media, you need to catch up.

Taylor Swift and the Agency are traveling back to the US. She’s supposed to fill in for Ryan Seacrest as radio host on American Top 40 over the Thanksgiving weekend. Somebody get a camera in there…

SANTA, BABY!!!

A local reader was invited to the American Music Awards’ Celebrity Gift Tent last Saturday (Nov. 21) to promote his new, fab product and wanted to give TheBPlot readers the first scoop.

If you have not heard, the deal with swag tents basically is that companies offer free product and the celebs whore themselves out for free sneakers, sunglasses, jewelry, etc. by letting their photo be taken with the product. In the end, if it is somewhat of a relevant celebrity, the companies get free publicity by sending the photos to magazines such as People, US Weekly and InStyle and saying “Look, so-and-so uses our product - will you write an article?” A lot of the time it works out for everyone.

Our local inventor / snitch went big-time with the small-time celebs and dishes about swag-hungry, holiday gift-getting celebs, in his own words:

“Well, being part of the AMA swag tent sure was an experience. There were about 43 vendors. I learned afterwards that the top celebs don’t come to the event, but the B C and D-list people do – with their friends. Plenty of kids under 15 years old do too.

“One hundred ten ‘names’ attended and I’ve got photos of almost every one of them who took our stuff. I met many ‘has been’ stars and ‘want to be’ stars, several stars from soap operas, Carnie Wilson, two rappers, a few from TV shows (‘LA Ink’, ‘V’ and a few others), kids from the Disney Channel with their swag hungry parents, the Olympic Water Polo Team, a loooong since retired Hall of Famer from the LA Dodgers.

“A few film directors came for product, including a major science fiction series director who is about 90 years old and couldn’t hear or see to even know what he was looking at. Finally, a very famous TV chef - who the fattest guy in the room ran over and hugged for what seemed like forever – was there and loved our product.

“Max and Tony from ‘Dancing with the Stars’ and Sheila E [photo left] were great and hung out with us for a while.

“Only one celeb objected to photos and still took product – Morena Baccarin from the ABC televisions series ‘V’ [third from right in photo, right]. She’s obviously new to the scene and when this show is over she will be done and not realize how lucky she was.

“Every other celeb was more than willing to take photos. We made sure they had fun, and enjoyed the picture-taking – and it shows in the photos.

“The truth and truly sad fact is that many of the celebs came to get free stuff to give to their friends and family for the holidays. They’d discuss with their family members openly ‘Okay, I’ll give this to Auntie May, and give that to my best friend Charlotte, and this to ….’

“The free stuff they were getting from other vendors included really expensive shoes, purses, candy, computer software, earrings, dolls, make-up, perfume and tons more.

“I’ve been invited to the Oscars in March. More on that after the holidays. The word is that more celebs, bigger celebs will attend that gift event. And I guess they won’t be stocking up on Christmas gifts!!! Maybe.”

Richard@TheBPlot.com

Follow TheBPlot on Twitter and you are entered to win $100 in fancy-pants dog products

Editor’s Note: This story contains references to very objectionable adult material, which also is included in the video of the Lambert performance.

Openly homosexual former “American Idol” performer Adam Lambert shocked the American Music Awards audience last night by shoving dance team members’ faces into his crotch, leading others around on dog leashes and delivering a passionate on-stage kiss to his male keyboard player during theABC broadcast.

The performance of his new song, “For Your Entertainment,” marks his first public appearance since his “American Idol” competition loss to Christian Kris Allen.

According to the London Telegraph, Lambert was unapologetic to anyone who might have been offended, saying, “Maybe I’m not your cup of tea.”

Lyrics of the song included: “Hold on until it’s over. Can you handle what I’m about to do. It’s about to get rough with you.”

The video (Viewers please be aware this includes offensive material):

Shortly after word of the performance started spreading, the video was withdrawn from YouTube because of a “copyright claim” from Dick Clark Productions.

Immediately following the performance, Adam Lambert was the most trending topic on Twitter. Lambert was defiant on his Twitter page, proclaiming, “All hail freedom of expression and artistic integrity. … fans: I adore u.”

But viewers were not necessarily responding in kind. One observer described the performance as a “modern Sodom.” On a New York Daily News poll asking, “Do you think Adam went too far with his performance?” two out of three respondents agreed.

Sixty-four percent said, “It was unnecessary and inappropriate for television.” Only 24 percent said, “He took a risk and did something different that was worth watching.” Another 12 percent said the show would have been more appropriate for cable television.

Lambert’s provocative performance began with him dragging a leather-and-fishnet-clad dancer across the stage.

Wearing eye makeup and a pompadour, he then grabbed the head of a male dancer and pulled him into his crotch.

He broke off his gyrations long enough for a long kiss with his male keyboard player and finished with a high-pitched howl he’s known to deliver.

ABC producers were unaware of the planned same-sex make-out session, reports Rolling Stone. However, Lambert’s performance was advertised as “eye-popping” and something “you’d be talking about tomorrow.”

Lambert told Rolling Stone he didn’t do anything female performers haven’t done on television already – and that if ABC censored any part of his performance for the West Coast rebroadcast, it would amount to “discrimination.”
“It’s a shame because I think that there’s a double standard going on in the entertainment community right now,” Lambert told Rolling Stone backstage after the show at Los Angeles’ Nokia Theatre. “Female performers have been doing this for years – pushing the envelope about sexuality – and the minute a man does it, everybody freaks out. We’re in 2009; it’s time to take risks, be a little more brave, time to open people’s eyes and if it offends them, then maybe I’m not for them. My goal was not to piss people off, it was to promote freedom of expression and artistic freedom.”

The Telegraph reported the Federal Communications Commission was preparing for an onslaught of complaints over the graphic nature of the performance. The report said on Twitter and other Internet forums, watchers called the show “disgustingly vulgar.”

“Has ABC lost their minds? How on earth do they think airing this is OK?” wrote one forum participant.

Ironically, Sunday’s awards were opened by Janet Jackson, who was embroiled in controversy following her infamous “wardrobe malfunction” during the 2004 Super Bowl halftime show. Pop star Justin Timberlake ripped off a portion of Jackson’s costume, exposing her breast to millions of viewers. The incident was investigated by the FCC and CBS was fined.

Lambert had been defeated on “American Idol” by Kris Allen, a mild-mannered Christian described as a “dark horse.”

The outcome of the vote stunned many who thought Lambert would be the victor.

“Huge upset,” said WFLX-TV news anchor Eric Roby, who said he and co-anchor Suzanne Boyd were shocked as they watched the program from their West Palm Beach, Fla., studio. “We were both screaming in the make-up room. Couldn’t believe it.”

Lambert had been dubbed a “rock god” by “Idol” judge Kara DioGuardi, a songwriter herself.

Simon Cowell, the judge known for his put-downs of less-than-stellar competitors, had predicted Lambert would win the contest and that he likely would become a worldwide star.

Adam Lambert, in my opinion is a professional genius. Or, let me say that Adam Lambert pulled a genius professional move at the AMA (willingly or not). Whether you agree or disagree with the stunt he pulled is beside the point.

What I am impressed about is his willingness to gamble with his career. I am sure that his PR people must be in full crisis mode. His accountants must be panicking as they see future sales losses and the impact of negative feedback which was reflected by a morning TV show canceling his appearance.

Adam Lambert has pushed his fame to a new level. In the short-term it looks as if it will hurt his career but in the long-term, he’s just extended his notoriety. To be honest, I did not even know whom he was and now I do and checked out some of his music to see if it was any good (my take on his sound is irrelevant of course and a matter of personal taste).

Graph courtesy: Google Trends

I see that he is already getting booked on the late shows. He just started a controversy that will go on for years. The argument will be as follow: if everyone is equal why can some people do something while others cannot? His name will always come up in that topic and the name of the show biz game is attention: the more you are spoken about, the more salt you are worth and the more the bank likes it.

With this ballsy, unprecedented stunt, Adam Lambert has written himself into the history books. In showbiz, unprecedented is the name of the game. If as an artist, performer or entertainer you can attach yourself to a concept, person or any other thing that is never-before-seen, never-before-heard, never-before-fill-in-the-blanks, your are on the right path to success.

Being a pioneer is a risky gamble of course and your move may bear fruits or backfire. That’s what Beverly Rubik meant by: “You can recognize a pioneer by the arrows in his back”

Really, does anything shock us anymore? In the 80’s it was Madonna, in the 90’s it was

Really, does anything shock us anymore? In the 80’s it was Madonna, in the 90’s it was Britney Spears, now it seems that Lady Gaga has taken the throne as the “envelope pusher” for this generation. Now Adam Lambert’s trying to make a name for himself and is trying to get in the ‘game’ too.

Was Lambert’s performance at the American Music Awards (AMA’s) on Sunday night shocking: Yes and No. If you’ve been living under a rock, maybe you haven’t heard about his performance. The most recent winner of “American Idol” performed his new song while a dancer simulated oral sex on him, hold a leash with a male dancer on the end of it dancing provocatively, and then full-on makes out with the male keyboard player. Then he says, “I don’t know what all the controversy is about.”

Seriously, he must be kidding. He got exactly what he wanted, and we’re all playing into his hopes… who doesn’t know the name “Adam Lambert” anymore? As they say, “There’s no such thing as bad publicity.”

But as a Christian, and as a Youth Pastor, I think this is indicative of something more going on in our culture. There’s nothing “out of bounds” anymore. The AMA’s were on ABC at 8:00… prime time television! This wasn’t on MTV, this was on a “reputable” broadcast. Supposedly.

Much like the infamous kiss between Madonna and Britney Spears on the MTV Video Video Music Awards in 2003, there’s a ton of backlash – but it will all calm down in a few weeks and life will move on… with Adam Lambert on the cultural map. Whether or not he’ll be a footnote or a chapter is to be decided, but he IS paving new territory whether we like it or not.

The issue for Christians is this: When will we be shocked enough to turn off the TV and to stop feeding the shockers? The reality is, the media gives us what we consume. Teenagers, Parents, Young Adults, all of us: When is enough enough…

Parents, talk to your teenagers and ask them what they think about Lambert’s performance. Ask them to tell you what people are saying about it in their schools… and just listen, maybe you’ll get a glimpse into the world where these “shockers” are coming from.
