Ballet, Obscene – The BBC has announced it will drop a scheduled ballet production from its Christmas lineup after it was discovered that one of the segments includes a “hunchback pope who rapes eunuchs and pregnant nuns.” If this controversy sounds familiar, it’s likely because you may remember a similar stink raised several years ago when CBS famously canceled a holiday showing of It’s a Hunchback Pope Who Rapes Eunuchs and Nuns, Charlie Brown.

Kardashian, Khloe — Gossipmongers everywhere are touting that Laker Lamar Odom’s wife Khloe Kardashian has already begun to make waves in the Laker wives community with “loud, rude and obnoxious behavior.” It also didn’t help that she sneakily tried to cover guard Derek Fisher’s six year-old son with tabasco sauce, only to have him snatched from her hungry clutches at the last moment.

Marriage, Video Game – A Japanese man recently married his favorite video game character in a bizarre online event. The man, known as “Sal9000,” wed the character Nene from a Nintendo DS game called Love Plus at the Tokyo Institute of Technology with a real clergyman and an internet audience. For those seeking to send gifts,  Sal9000 has registered for several new pairs of sweatpants, 44  bags of Doritos and 12 cases of Mountain Dew Code Red. And you thought I was going to to the “joystick” angle on this one. Shame on you.

Race, Amazing — Sunday evening’s episode of CBS’ The Amazing Race featured a challenge called “Kafka-esque,” wherein contestants were trapped in a bleak, bureaucratic nightmare of ringing phones on desks and charged with finding the five phones among the hundreds which had a connection to a real human voice on the other end. Look, I don’t care if you’re into reality programming or not. That’s a very, very cooler-than-the room moment for a reality show. Kudos, Amazing Race. CBS Sunday night hasn’t looked this hip since Ed Bradley got his ear pierced.

Richie, Nicole –

The former Simple Life star is reportedly “in discussions with an undisclosed network” to star in a talk show where people stop by the home of Richie and husband Joel Madden to hang out and are “interviewed” by the couple. So congratuations, everyone I know, you are all talk show hosts.

Teams must make their way to a Spanish Synagogue in Prague. They must now make their way to a museum. They face a Roadblock. To complete it, they must enter a Kafka-esque challenge. They must find 5 ringing phones among a bunch of phones to decode a message. Cheyne makes Meghan do it. She has to fill in her form again. She gets it the 2^nd time. They must travel to Kryocentrum. They get out and find Sam/Dan there, who are adamant they don’t steal their taxi.

Meghan/Cheyne get another taxi. Ericka/Brian face a Speed Bump. The BB players arrive. Dan fills out the form. He has to fill it out a 2^nd time.

Teams must strip down to their underwear and enter a cryo-therapy room. They must brave temps of up to -160°C. They must stay inside for 2 minutes. Ericka/Brian must pay a visit to the green fairy. They must go to a bar and drink some absinthe.

Dan is an idiot. He can’t figure out the puzzle. I think that Flight Time will get it before Dan. They decide to work together. Meghan/Cheyne exit the cold chamber. Teams must make their way to the Charles bridge for they next clue. The lounge is filled with hot girls dancing in skimpy clothes. Brian never drinks alcohol, he’s going to be tipsy for a while just after one shot.

Dan finally gets the code. He tells Flight Time that it starts with F and leaves. Brian/Ericka arrive. They face a Detour. They must either deliver some beer or create a golem. Meghan/Cheyne decide to do the golem task. Sam/Dan arrive at the cryo-therapy facility.

Brian arrives. Flight is still there and failing. He’s been doing it for 2.5 hours. Meghan/Cheyne lay the wooden golem down on the floor. That’s smart. Sam/Dan come out of the cold room.

Brian gets it right and leaves. Flight Team is still there.

And I did it drunk too!
Brian

Flight Time is still failing. They decide to take the penalty. They must serve a 4 hour penalty. That’s a bit ridiculous, especially it was a name. Meghan/Cheyne start wheeling their golem around. Sam/Dan do the golem task. Brian/Ericka arrive at the cryo-therapy room. Sam/Dan drop their golem and break on of its arms. Meghan is an annoying bitch. She isn’t carrying the golem. He is. They get the clue and make their way to the next pit stop. They finish 1^st again. They win an HDTV each.

Brian/Ericka do the beer task. Sam/Dan argue all of the way. Dan wants to find the synagogue first. Dan is supposed to be in better shape, but keeps whining the whole time. Meanwhile, Flight Time is still at the Roadblock. Brian/Ericka drop their beers. Ericka wants to the other task. Brian won’t hear of it. They drop quite a few beers.

Yeah, I do have some American attitude. Touch me and you’ll get punched!

Sam/Dan get the clue. They leave for the pit stop. They finish 2^nd. It’s early in the morning and the BB players leave the Roadblock. Ericka/Brian leave for the pit stop at around the same time. They leave for the pit stop. They finish 3^rd.

When the BB players arrive at the cryo-therapy center, they are told to report to the pit stop. Obviously, they are eliminated.

And they are off…

Meghan and Cheyne are the first to depart at 9:46pm.  Make your way to the Spanish Synagogue across town.

At the Synagogue

Make your way to the Ekotechnicke Museum 4 miles outside of town.  This is also the location of the speed bump for Brian and Ericka.

Roadblock

To complete the road block one team member has to go to an empty warehouse filled with dozens of desks and phones and search for one of 5 phones with someone on the other end.  The person on the phone will give them one letter in the word “Franz” and once they figure out his name (Franz Kafka) they will get their next clue.

Meghan does it for their team.  All the phones are ringing and that would drive me crazy after awhile.  On top of all the mayhem they can’t write down the letters so they just have to remember them.  Meghan keeps repeating the letters and tries to come up with an animal for each letter.  Once she gets the letters she has to go to the supervisor’s desk and get a form filled with a bunch of questions to answer and then fill out the letters.  She seems to get “Franz” pretty quickly. 

Make your way to Kryocentrum for their next clue.  They head out just as Sam and Dan arrive.  They try to take Sam and Dan’s cab but the guys tell the driver no.  So Meghan asks the driver to call another cab.  That would have been so karma if they had their taxi stolen.

The globe trotters show up as Sam or Dan gets his fifth letter. I think it’s Sam (I must really not like the guys to not have figured out which one is which by this point), is trying to guess the word.  He’s still guessing by time Big Easy gets his letters and starts work on the form.  They decide to work together to figure out the word.  Sam figures it out but then he won’t tell Big Easy what the word is.  He will only tell him it starts with an “f”.  What a jerk!  Poor Big Easy but he keeps up a good attitude saying it is what it is.  Come on Big Easy!  You have to make it to the final 3!  He is still guessing when Brian comes out with all his letters.  He tells Brian he has been there for about 2 1/2 hours.  Poor Big Easy.  Brian figures it out.  They decide to take a 4 hour penalty for not finishing the road block.  If he’s been there 2 1/2 hours too bad they didn’t do it earlier.  Man!  I hope they don’t get eliminated for this.  I think they are screwed since none of the tasks seem like they would trip up a team for 4 hours.  At least Flight Time is totally supportive.

Kryocentrum

Teams have to strip down to their underwear and enter a kryo-therapy room.  It’s kept at 180 degrees below zero celcius and withstand it for 2 minutes to get their next clue.  This is insane!  I can’t believe athletes do this for training.  I hope they have foot and hand warmers after this.

Teams now have to make their way to Charles Bridge for their next clue.

Speed Bump

They need to find a club M1 and make a 3 stepped process to produce a traditional shot of absinthe.  When they drink the shot they get to continue on.  They get to the bar with half naked ladies dancing on the bar and a party is going on.  Turns out Brian doesn’t drink at all so he says this is going to be a challenge for him.  They say the drink is awful and is super strong but they finish it.

Detour-Legend or Lager

Legend-Teams need to build a golum a figure built of straw and clay.  They have to cover a wooden skeleton with wet clay and then transport the golum across town to the old new synagogue the golem’s traditional home.

Lager-teams have to deliver beer to a crowd of rowdy soccer fans.  They have to carry a total of 30 beers from a brewery through town to a bar.  Once they deliver their beers they get their next clue.

Meghan and Cheyne choose Legend.  These golum things are huge.  Cheyne says he felt the golum was at least 250-300 lbs once it was mudded up.

Sam and Dan do legend.  They drop their golum and crack the arm.  I really dislike Sam and Dan.  Even doing the mud task they can’t stop arguing.  They start transporting but the arm looks like it’s about to fall off.  Ah, so it’s Dan I dislike more out of the two.  Dan is whining about how he can’t do this and Sam is telling him to tough it out.  I hope their golum falls apart.  Seriously.  Ugh, I can’t believe they got the ok with the broken golum.  At least Dan admits he was being a big baby during the detour.

Meghan and Cheyne are totally struggling trying to transport the golum.  Cheyne is in pain and moaning and groaning.  Meghan is trying to talk him through it.  They finally get the rabbis and get their next clue.

Brian and Ericka decide to do lager.  On their first delivery Brian takes 8 drinks and Ericka takes 7.  They pick up what seem to be a couple of drunks following them.  They both end up dropping some of their glasses and Ericka wants to change tasks.  Brian convinces her to stick it out.  They have drunks trying to grab the beers from them.  Ericka ends up carrying 2 and Brian carrying 5.  LOL. Ericka starts yelling at some people trying to grab their drinks and someone makes a comment about her American attitude.  They get up to 19 drinks.  The sun is up by time they finish the task and the poor guy receiving the beer looks passed out.  Wonder if he’s been drinking the beers.

Pit Stop

Teams now need to go to Strelecky Ostrov, the pit stop for this leg of the race.  Dang it!  The globe trotters are probably going home   I think this is the first time I’ve seen a female taxi driver and an attractive one of that drives Meghan and Cheyne to the pit stop.

Meghan and Cheyne are team #1.  They win a 52 inch LCD tv.

Sam and Dan are team #2 dang it.  Brian and Ericka are team #3.  Sigh, I’m ok with them making it through but so sad about the globe trotters.  Guess they are definitely out since they don’t even have to do the detour.  Sad.  If Sam and Dan win I will be so bummed out.  I’m totally rooting for Meghan and Cheyne now.

THE AMAZING RACE EN DISCOVERY CHANNEL – etapa 11

Well, it was Sunday and the last day of vacation.  There isn’t too much I can talk about, but I’ll give you a little bit of an idea of what happend to my family today.  We got up early at six-thirty and took showers and got ourselves ready for the day.  We were spending the day at my in-laws which I’m not allowed to talk about too much.  We got on the road, and while we listened to some Christmas music, and I wrote some of my entries for my blog to catch up before the end of vacation.  We went right to church and met up with the family there.  We had a nice church service and then went to their house.  We visited with family and had a nice dinner with lasagna.  We then played around a little bit and someone shot a deer while hunting.  We had a drumset donated to my family that I’m going to learn to play for church service to add to the praise and worship team.  We got done loading up the car and drove home.  We got home and the kids went right to bed while Heather and I watched our usual TV shows tonight including “Amazing Race”, “Family Guy”, “American Dad”, “The Simpsons”, and “The Cleveland Show” and then went to bed.

Okay, let’s talk about Part 3 of Chapter 20 of “Star Wars – Medstar I:  Battle Surgeons, A Clone Wars Novel” by Michael Reaves and Steve Perry……Chapter 20 (Part 3):  I-Five ws next to raise and Den couldn’t help but notice what a calm player this droid was even though he didn’t have the computing power to keep track of all the cards and all the hands.  The droid raised three and Jos swore he saw the robot sweat a little.  I-Five said he must be leaking fluid, but that he could smell fear pheromone coming from Vondar.  Den asked I-Five how he learned to play and the droid said that Pavan had taught him and he was one of the best.  Jos asked if he considered himself human and I-Five said only when he’s depressed.  But he went on to explain that his cognitive modifications and lack of creative damper have made him more living than other droids.  I-Five went on to explain that he has been all over the galaxy and has met many individuals and even with memory gaps, he can recall them all.  Den reminded Jos it was his turn and the surgeon called.  Den showed a twenty-three, but Jos put down Pure sabacc and Tolk said it was a nice play.  As he picked up his credits, Den had the feeling that the surgeon didn’t care about winning.

Did I miss something? I was under the impression that THIS week was the finale! I’ll admit that I was wrong if we can just…move on…

The 4 teams were in the Czech Republic (aka Czechoslovakia…yes I looked up the spelling…) where they explored some interesting “extremes”…let me run it down for you:

Extreme Word Challenge: Teams had to do a word scramble to figure out the name “Franz Kafka”…some teams were lucky, some teams were talented (intelligent) , and some teams were seriously challenged (to put it nicely). The Globetrotters were one of the latter teams. The Big guy had the letters for the name “Franz” for 2.5 hours and could not come up with the correct answer. He thought he would have help when Gay Brother came in and told him they would work together (riiiiight….). So when Gay Brother came up with the answer…he decided to change his mind (screw over the struggling Globetrotter) and left with the “hint” that it started with “F” (you know what else starts with F…??I’ll leave it at that…).

Extreme Cold: Hey Sudbury, Yellow Knife and Iqualit…you lose! The teams had to immerse themselves in a cold tank in temperatures of -134c for 2 minutes. Beauty Queen had never seen a number that big. Heck, she doesnt even weigh 134 p0unds! But seriously, 2 minutes? try 5 months out of the year…

Extreme Alcoholism: way to stereotype Europeans as alcoholic “football” loonies…Maybe I’m glad they DIDNT come to Canada. Can you imagine? ANyways, Beauty Queen and hubby had to mix shots as their roadblock (Hubby claimed he never drinks a lick of alcohol…but he downed that shot like Lindsay Lohan on her birthday…) and then chose to deliver 30 glasses of beer to a local pub. Along the way they encounter (planted, fake…) drunks roaming the street and stealing their beer. Who knew Czech was the modern day Soddom and Gomora?

Extreme hissy fits: I seem to remember a touching moment two weeks ago where the Gay brothers broke down infront of Phil and vowed never to yell or say hurtful things to eachother again…so precious. Cue this weeks episode, where while lugging a wooden statue through the streets of the Czech Republic, they spewed more “hurtful insults” and the word “shut up” more times thanyou might hear in a highschool cheerleader competition. Boys will be boys…

Extreme stupidity: After the Big Globetrotter had tried to put 5 letters together for 2.5 hours, he decided it would be better in the “long run”, and a smarter “strategic move” to just wait out a 4 hour penalty than complete the challenge. Really?! you don’t think in less than 4 hours you coulf have come up with the 5-letter answer? You can only be wrong so many times ….5 permutations of 5 letters…you can do the math, but I think it would work out to….LESS THAN 4 HOURS of idley sitting on stairs and waiting til the sun comes up. Stupid.

2. Gay Brothers (shut uuuuuup!)
3. Beauty Queen and Hubby (not at all drunk luck…)

• There was NOTHING on TV last night…(I watched a taped version of the National Dog Show…found myself riveted and cheering vociferously for the Bulldog.)

Honing in on your goals & the power of positive speech

There is something about labor that allows you to have a single-minded focus on the goal at hand. I have two friends who are pregnant and preparing for natural childbirth, so I sent them my birth story from my first child’s birth (I had both my children at a midwifery birth center with no drugs). Re-reading the birth story was pretty funny and rather enlightening.

The biggest theme from my labor was how I dealt with negative thoughts. Whenever I had a negative thought, I filed it away, and didn’t act on it, much less talk about it. I was so focused on preserving my energy and focusing my energy on my goal—delivering my child—that I set aside every thought that didn’t relate to helping me achieving this goal.

All of the negative thoughts at the time were laughable afterwards. And they fell into two categories: the well-informed and the ill-informed.

The well-informed thoughts related to our doula. Her comments weren’t unhelpful, they just weren’t helpful. When we called her to tell her we were in labor, she asked if she should meet us at the birth center when we arrived. I thought, “Why else would I spend my time (pant/contraction) calling you now? And “Aren’t I paying you a set fee to help throughout the entire birth?” But I didn’t argue she should meet us right away. If she didn’t think she’d be helpful, she probably wouldn’t be. And later, after she had finally arrived, when she told me that I was far enough into  labor (pant/major pain) to begin pushing, I didn’t bother to respond that I had been pushing for the last four contractions.

The ill-informed: Our midwife left the room at one point, telling me she was going to fix the water fountain. I was thinking “What the hell (yes, I ought allowed that thought in labor) do I need a drinking fountain for now?” But I was in labor, and saved my energy for the next contraction (pain/breathe/pain/count/pain subsides/breathe more). Later in even more intense labor (pain/breathe/pain/breathe/etc.), they moved me back to the bedroom, and they had one of those soothing fountains where water flows over rock with an awesome dripping/pooling/gurgling sound, and I loved it. That was the water fountain she had fixed, God bless her! And that was one of the first sounds our baby heard other than our voices.

In the first case, my husband and I still giggle about the doula. We were competent enough and he was supportive enough that I didn’t need one, and it was so refreshing not to have wasted any negative energy on bashing her. We hired her, she was useless but it didn’t matter because we didn’t need her, she wasn’t outrageously expensive, so it was over and it was all behind us. No energy spent, and actually energy gained laughing at our nervousness about childbirth in wanting a doula and discovering our strength in dealing with it with a useless doula. It was sort of like an “Amazing Race” win (we think we would ROCK on that show). We didn’t even talk about getting a doula for our second birth—it was a non-issue. Instead of focusing on how bad she was, we focused on us, and how well we dealt with it.

In the second case, I was so grateful I had kept my mouth shut. There wasn’t anything the midwife could have done in my room at that point in my labor, and if I had spoken up, it would have created negative vibes between me and the midwife, my husband would loyally have taken my side exacerbating the division, and I would have beaten myself up for being horrible when I had found out what she was really doing. I laughed at myself, during my later more intense labor, when I realized what she had done, and later was able to revel, guilt-free, in the spa-like environment.

In both cases, not speaking my negative thoughts brought me much more positive outcomes, and outright joy–in my marriage, my husband, my child, and the whole experience.

I’ve realized, just after the four year anniversary of that birth, that this attitude can have a profound effect on my life—both in business and personally.

What’s your goal? And what does it take to achieve it? Most of the time we’re not as single-minded as a woman in labor, but it’s not a bad ideal. Defining your goals helps you reach them.

What are your goals? Most of us have multiple goals, and most of them are derivations of: to have good relationships, to be happy, to be successful, however we define all these.

Drama trains don’t usually play a role in these definitions. So being negative rarely helps you achieve any of these.

So, since I’ve reread my birth story, I think differently about voicing negative thoughts. What is my goal? Is saying this (which is the same as focusing on this/spending energy on this) going to help me reach my goal?

I have curbed my tongue ever since (not 100% of the time, I’m still working on it), resulting in giggling at myself over the outcome, and laughing at the results.

Mesmo com tudo isso, quem venceu a noite foi a… NBC. Pois é. A emissora exibiu seu tradicional Sunday Night Football. O jogo Philadelphia Eagles Vs. Chicago Bears atraiu 15.1 milhões de telespectadores e excelentes 5.6 pontos na demo qualificada.

A CBS invertou a ordem de exibição de ‘Cold Case’ e ‘Three Rivers’ esperando por audiências melhores, mas as coisas não mudaram tanto assim. ‘Cold Case’ (9.2 milhões e 2.o pontos) caiu um pouco em relação a semana passada e ‘Three Rivers’ (7.7 milhões e 1.6 ponto) teve a pior audiência de sua história. A emissora ainda exibiu ‘60 Minutes’ (15.7 milhões e 3.4 pontos) e ‘Amazing Race’ (11.8 milhões e 3.5 pontos).

Já o bloco animado da Fox esteve todo em queda*: ‘The Simpsons’ (7 milhões e 3.3 pontos), ‘Cleveland Show’ (6.5 milhões e 3.3 pontos), ‘Family Guy’ (7.4 milhões e 3.8 pontos) e ‘American Dad’ (5.5 milhões e 2.8 pontos).

If there was ever an indication that education in school these days is seriously lacking, or skipping over some important topics in place of pizza parties…This show exposes it!

Sigh…

I always wonder what my tactic would be if I were in the race. I pretty much think I would be looking fo rthe fastest and most direct route to the mark…seems logical. So Blonde couple (followed by Gay brothers) take a taxi, but Beauty Queen and husband decide to take every other possible mode of transportation to get to the same place (bus, subway…bears omy!)

The teams had to shimmy their way across a ropes course designed for normal people…as in people UNDER 6′4 and 250 pounds. This poses a problem for the Giant Globetrotters who were dangling so low, they practically walked it! All teams managed to get by unscathed and the task of finding a taxi in Prague begins again (people think getting around in NYC was difficult…try finding a taxi at the side of a mountain in Prague).

After tearfully promising eachother that they would never yell (hurl hurtful insults) at eachother again, the (forgettful) gay brothers are still the loudest team– and considering they spend most og their time assessing other team’s ethical inadequacies— they forget about that as well and steal Beauty Queen and Husbands taxi (probably one of 5 in the entire Prague fleet…), the dirtiest trick in the Amazing Race handbook.

Once again, Beauty Queen is given the challenge that requires patience and observant detection skills…both of which she seriously lacks (remember the bell counting exercise?) As the other teams quickly ransack the stunning opera house to find the hidden mini-violin, she seemingly turns over every chair in vain. All teams arrive, all teams leave…the fate of this team appears obvious.

But alas… upon arrival in LAST place at the pit-stop…Phil informs them that they are (once again) saved and will be the 4th team racing for 1 Million dollars in next weeks finale.

Results:
1st-Blonde Couple (and they win a trip to Hawaii…to go with their sauna…)
2nd- Gay Brothers

4th-Beauty Queen and Hubby

So 4 teams will race in the finale: The All-American sweethearts, The Crafty brothers, The Crowd favourites and the Lucky ones…they all need to run their best leg next sunday…could come down to luck…or transportation (best taxi driver wins….)

Matt/Gary got eliminated in the last leg. Tensions flared between the BB players and Sam/Dan. Teams start off from Estonia. They are leaving for Prague. They must find the old town square to find a vintage Praga, a vintage convertible. The 1^st flight leaves at 5:20AM tomorrow. Meghan/Cheyne smartly figure out what a Praga is. Meghan was to lie to the other teams, but they don’t.

Ericka/Brian are taking a shuttle bus and the subway. Someone on the plane mentioned that this was the fastest way. Meghan/Cheyne arrive 1^st. Sam/Dan arrive and follow. Teams must now make their way to an adventure center. Dan is annoyed by Sam’s narration. Meanwhile, Ericka/Brian are stuck in traffic. They decide to take a taxi instead. It’s Ericka’s fault and she’s not taking responsibility. The BB players get into a funky taxi.

The teams face a Detour. In Fast & Furious, they make their way through man-made rapids to get a flag. If they tip over, they have to try again. In Slow & Steady, they must make their way through aerial ropes. Sam/Dan do the rapids. Meghan/Cheyne do the ropes. The BB players also do the ropes. Sam/Dan can’t stop arguing. Brian figures out that the Praga is the car. Sam/Dan fall over on their 1^st attempt. They have to do it again. Big Easy is so heavy that his boots dip into the water. Dan is terrible. He’s obnoxious bossy gay brother. Meghan/Cheyne are in 1^st place. Flight Time is waiting for Big Easy to finish. Flight Time goes down first and takes his time to slow down the other team, who’s freaking out.

Meghan tries to make nice with Flight Time. Teams must now figure out that the words on their flags refer to an estate theater. Sam/Dan go overboard for the 3^rd time. They switch detours. Brian/Ericka arrive. Meghan tells the BB players to go with them to the tram station. Cheyne drags Meghan away to get a taxi. Meghan says that he’s being rude. They leave. Cheyne tries to reason with her, but she’s adamant about helping the BB players. Meghan wants to play nice. She makes some sense, but Cheyne wants to finish 1^st.

Ericka is terrible as well on the ropes. They face a Roadblock. They must find a tiny Mandolin in the opera house. Cheyne is an idiot and starts with the lounges instead of starting on the floor. Cheyne is a double idiot. He finds a sort of banjo and brings it down. It’s not miniature. Meghan keeps saying Cheyne’s name and it’s aggravating Big Easy.

The BB players have to take a subway. Sam/Dan head to the theater. The BB players arrive. Sam/Dan take Ericka/Brian’s cab. They arrive at the theater. Flight Time has a good time jerking around on the stage. For some reason, none of the teams are thinking about finding a miniature instrument. Cheyne finds it first. They leave. They must make their way to the pit stop, Prague Castle.

Dan finds the next miniature mandolin. Brian/Ericka arrive at the theater. Brian makes Ericka do it. Sam/Dan leave for the pit stop. They see Brian/Ericka and snub each other.

Meghan/Cheyne finish 1^st. They won a trip to Hawaii. Sam/Dan can’t find a taxi. Big Easy finds the mandolin. They leave for the pit stop. They almost catch up to Sam/Dan. Sam/Dan finish 2^nd. The BB players finish 3^rd. Ericka finds the mandolin thanks to what Brian said. They finish last. They aren’t eliminated. They will face a Speed Bump in the next leg.

Meghan and Cheyne are the first to depart at 12:00am.  They have to fly to Prague and have to find a Vintage Praga in a particular square.  They need to figure out Praga is a car.  OMG, either Sam or Dan thinks Prague is a country!  The first flight out is at 5:20am.  So everyone will catch up at the airport again.  While at the airport Meghan and Cheyne go on the internet and find out a praga is a car.  The globe trotters also figure it out.

All the teams land in Prague.  All the teams other than Brian and Ericka are taking taxis.  Brian and Ericka choose to take the subway.  Brian said someone on the flight told them it was the faster way to get to the old town square.  Meghan and Cheyne get to the square first.  Followed by Sam and Dan.   Sam and Dan had no clue what a praga was but they followed Meghan and Cheyne to the praga car.

Teams now to need to make their way to an outdoor adventure center to search for their next clue.  The globe trotters got a really slow driver but they finally get to the praga.  Brian and Ericka are stuck in traffic.  Okay, Ericka needs to chill.  Brian was just saying they made a bad choice but he’s NOT blaming Ericka or the people who told them the information and she cuts him off saying he went along with the information too and not to blame her.  Duh!  Hello, he was just saying he didn’t blame you and sounded like he was just saying it was bad luck.

Detour

Fast and furious or slow and steady?

Fast and furious-teams need to go down a man made white water rafting course.  They have to grab a clue at the end.  If they tip over before getting their clue they will have to start again.

Slow and steady-teams have to pull themselves along a grueling ropes course.  At the end they get their next clue.  Sam and Dan do the rafts.  Meghan and Cheyne do the ropes course.  I would definitely do the ropes course.  The globe trotters new driver makes up some time and they arrive at the adventure park.  They choose the ropes course.

Sam and Dan head out the same time as Meghan and Cheyne.  Immediately Sam and Dan start to argue.  Man, the ropes course looks hard too.  You are pulling your weight along just using your arms.  In the mean time Ericka and Brian are wandering around looking for the praga.  They finally find the car and head to the adventure park.  Sam and Dan are still arguing and then tip over.  They are getting swept down and then have to restart.  Both Meghan and Big Easy are commenting on how the ropes course is harder than it looked.  Big Easy is so tall his legs fall into the water.  Flight Time is doing awesome on the ropes course though!  He is like a natural.

Sam and Dan…still arguing and tip over again.   Flight Time over took Meghan and Cheyne but Big Easy is still struggling.  Meghan says it’s nice to see Big Easy actually struggle for once.  Flight Time finishes first, then Meghan and Cheyne.    Going back down Flight Easy goes first and takes his time to slow Meghan and Cheyne up.  Dan and Sam are STILL arguing and paddling.  Big Easy is still working is still on the ropes course when Meghan and Cheyne climb down.   

Meghan and Cheyne have their clue and must need to figure out the words on the clue refer to the Estates Theater.  They need to search there for their next clue.  Big Easy finally finishes while Sam and Dan are still kayaking and Sam and Dan tip over again.  They decide to switch detours.   Brian and Ericka show up just as Sam and Dan switch detours.  Meghan and Cheyne and Big Easy and Flight Time go off together to look for the next location.

Cheyne runs off while Meghan is getting directions.  He wants to take a taxi where as Big Easy and Flight Time wait for a train.  Meghan gets on Cheyne’s case about being rude to everyone.  Cheyne is saying it’s a game.  Meghan is saying it was rude to leave the globe trotters behind after agreeing to work with them.

While Ericka is trying to finish up Sam and Dan are trying to steal Brian and Ericka’s taxi.  Ericka get moving instead of yelling at the guys.  The guys manage to steal the taxi.  One of the guys wasn’t cool with the stealing of the taxi (can’t remember which is which). 

Road Block

Who can remain composed under pressure?  Teams have to  search among the 600 seats and find a small mandolin.  When they find one they have to bring it to Don Giovanni on stage to get their next clue.  Cheyne is doing it.  Cheyne finds a full size mandolin and takes it to the singer.  He laughs at him and tells Cheyne no.  Big Easy does the road block for the globe trotters.  Cheyne starts gathering up a bunch of other instruments even though they are not tiny.

Sam does the roadblock.  While waiting Flight Time starts to dance on the stage to the singing.  I love the singer when he laughs at the teams when they bring the wrong instruments.  Cheyne finds his mandolin first. 

Teams need to travel by taxi across town to Prague Castle, the pit stop for this leg of the race.  Oh come on globe trotters!  Find your mandolin!  Rats!  Sam and Dan find their mandolin first.  He found it on the same row Big Easy was working his way through.  As Sam and Dan are leaving Brian and Ericka walk in.  I hope karma bites the brothers in the butt and they can’t get a taxi.  Big Easy finds another mandolin case but doesn’t open it.  Ah and there is a mandolin!  Yay!

Ericka does the roadblock but I don’t think she has the patience for this task.  She’s going to get frustrated.  They don’t show much of her until she finds the mandolin.

Pit Stop

Meghan and Cheyne are team #1!  They win a trip for two to Lanai, Hawaii.

Sam and Dan are still looking for a taxi as teh globe trotters come out.   Looks like they get a taxi at the same time.  At the castle Sam and Dan are team #2.  Flight Time and Big Easy are team #3.  Brian and Ericka are team #4 but it turns out to be a non-elimination leg of the race.  So they are still in it.  They will have the speed bump in the next leg of the race.

Ok, so what are you predictions for the winners of the race?   I honestly think it will come down to Meghan and Cheyne and the globe trotters.  I think Ericka is going to slow that team down and I don’t know if Sam and Dan have the team work down to make it.  Guess we will find out.  Go globe trotters!

Sunday, Sunday, Sunday!  (in my best trucker’s voice).  I got up this morning REALLY late again.  We slept in until about ten o’clock again and I have to say that it was nice to be able to sleep in late again.  I know I shouldn’t say it too loud as it may jynx me, but a free weekend every now and again is a nice change of pace from my busy, busy weekends.  I got up and casually started to work on some things in the basement.  Mainly, I worked on pulling some more glue out of my Mando bucket and then glueing in the fans again and making sure they still work.  I still believe that by removing the excess glue in the bucket, I will at least gain a half an inch in the helmet which will keep my nose from pressing up against the helmet.  I hate to say it, but I need a new bucket!

I got done working on the helmet and then decided to finish out student videos and then worked on transferring information off of my laptop and onto external hard drives.  Every once in a while I need to purge information that is on my computers because I just download and download and never really take the time to purge and organize.  I did that right up until it was time for football games on T.V.  I started to watch the Buffalo game on CBS, but it was just getting ugly.  In all honestly, Buffalo may need to just throw a grenade into the locker room and start over.  But hey, they’re doing better than the Rams.  1-8?!!  How does any team willfully have a 1-8 season at this point?  It’s pretty bleak for the Rams.  They may just want to move back to L.A.  After watching some of the games, I moved back to working on my clone trooper helmet and started sanding and sanding.  What a task that is going to be!  Besides, as I was sanding, I realized that I’m going to have to do about two to three coats of Bond-O just to make it work.  Why am I doing a clone again?!

I then decided to play “Call of Duty 4″ online on the PS3 again until it was time for dinner.  We had a nice dinner and then I went back downstairs and played more “Call of Duty 4″ until Fox came on at eight o’clock and then I watched “The Simpsons”, “The Cleveland Show”, “Family Guy”, “American Dad”, and “Amazing Race” on tape.  Heather and I then went to bed.Chapter 18 (Part 3):  He wondered if Zan had volunteered adn he would then respect the Zabrack even more.  Zan asked Den about his crusade for truth.  Dhur said it was going well and was about to get better as he has a hot lead on a story.  Den said he thought it would rattle some cages.  Zan then asked him why he was here on Drongar and what calls him to this line of work.  That question took him back and he realized he had not been asked in years.  He could’ve given a stock answer about adventure, but then said that war helps to make the big stories.  Wars help to pull the humanity out of any deep tragedy.  He went on to say that politicians can and will spin lies because they have the time with little to no pressure.  But a commander under fire will tell it like he sees it without concern for consequences.  War strips away the lies and gives the public the ugly truth.  Zan mentioned that he’s seen so much death and that he could be killed himself, but Den said that when he sees Rojo Fever he sees bodies.  But when your time is up, you will die.  They both chuckled and continued eating till Den began a story.  He was sent to cover an insurrection in the middle of the Gordian Reach…..

Gary/Matt will face a Speed Bump in this leg of the race. They arrived last. The BB players depart 1^st. They are crossing the Baltic Sea to Tallinn, Estonia. They must figure out how to open a door. They’ve got to wait until 5:45PM. It’s about 2AM.

Meghan/Cheyne leave at 4AM. Brian/Ericka leave half an hour later. Sam/Dan leave another half hour later. The BB players disapprove of the way that Sam/Dan were acting during the last leg of the race.

All teams job to the taxi stand. The BB players are last. Sam/Dan and Meghan/Cheyne quickly get into the house. It’s the HQ of the Brotherhood of the Blackheads. They close the door.

They face a Roadblock. They must take a candelabra and decipher a secret message. Garu/Matt face their Speed Bump. They must find a sauna bus and take a 5 minute sauna. The BB players arrive.

Gary/Matt find the sauna bus and get naked and sweaty. None of the teams have found their message. The BB players find their room first. Flight Time uses the crayon to decipher this message fruitlessly. Cheyne finds his room and decodes the message right away. The message says Pikk Hermann Tower Garden. Ericka is the 2^nd to find the message.

Matt doesn’t know what a candelabra is. Sam finally gets his message. It takes him a few minutes to figure it out. Flight Time manages to decode his message.

Meghan/Cheyne and Brian/Ericka arrive at the Detour. They have to choose between Serve or Sling. In Serve, they must play volleyball while submerged in a bog. In Sling, teams must use a sling shot to fire at a target. Meghan/Cheyne decide to do volleyball. Ericka is pissed at Brian for giving up a taxi. Meghan makes sure that their taxi doesn’t call them one. They finally get a taxi. Sam/Dan and the BB players are racing to the gardens.

Sam/Dan and the BB players decide to do volleyball. They argue over a taxi. The BB players get to it first and Sam/Dan get into is as well. It’s a van. Gary/Matt misread their clue and try to get into the Pikk Hermann Tower instead of looking for a clue box. They do Sling. Gary/Matt’s cab has a friend in Meghan/Cheyne’s driver. Gary/Matt’s driver asks for directions. Meghan/Cheyne’s driver doesn’t give them any.

Meghan/Cheyne arrive first. They quickly score their first two points. They are pretty good. All of the other teams join up and try to find the marked path. Meghan/Cheyne are getting tired. They’ve got one pt left. They finally get it. They have to run to a tower in the bog for the next pit stop. It’s like two stories high and made out of wood. It’s not impressive. Meghan/Cheyne finish 1^st. They win a red cedar sauna.

The other teams find the path. Brian/Ericka are last. They decide to do the Sling instead. They can’t do the volleyball because two teams are already playing. Sam/Dan and the BB players are shit at volleyball. The BB players score their 1^st pt, as the brothers do as well. The BB players finish 1^st. They are making their way to the pit stop. Sam/Dan run there to. The Globetrotters were going the wrong way. The BB players try to outrun them and trip the other team. Sam/Dan finish 2^nd. The BB players finish 3^rd. Big Easy tried to trip the boys up. He’s just being a ninny because he was outplayed. Brian/Ericka are still doing the slingshot. Brian/Ericka finally get it. They run to the pit stop. They finish 4^th.

Gary/Matt finish last and are eliminated..

Prague’s got nothing on Toronto…) in hopes of making it to the FINALE! Sunday 8pm CTV

Skate Canada- Patrick Chan, Dube and Davison, and Joannie Rochette all vie for Canada’s gold and jockey for Olympic position! Yet another something to watch on sunday night, CBC at 8pm.

A great week (minus the Oprah announcement) capped off with a great weekend…!

‘Three Rivers’ atingiu sua maior audiência! A CBS renovou cedo a série, e agora começa a colher os frutos. As chances de uma temporada completa são poucas, mas o episódio desta semana teve um crescimento de 11%, atraindo 8.5 milhões de telespectadores e fazendo 2.0 pontos na demo qualificada 18-49. O episódio teve participação do excelente e problemático ator, Mandy Patinkin.

‘Cold Case’ também foi bem e atingiu sua melhor audiência desde outubro: 9.2 milhões de telespectadores e 2.1 pontos na demo – um crescimento de 24% em relação ao episódio da semana passada, que por sua vez, foi o menos assistido da temporada até aqui. ‘Amazing Race’ abriu a noite da emissora com 11.6 milhões e 3.2 pontos, queda de 8%.

Quarta colocada na demo qualificada, a CBS não foi a única emissora a crescer ontem a noite: O Sunday Night Football na NBC ganhou a noite com ótimos números: 19.1 milhões e 7.5 pontos.

A ABC finalmente mandou muito bem em tudo: ‘Extreme Makeover’ (11.6 milhões e 3.6 pontos) subiu 20%, ‘Desperate Housewives’ (14.4 milhões e 4.9 pontos) subiu 11% para sua maior audiência em seis semanas, e ‘Brothers & Sisters’ (10.2 milhões e 3.2 pontos) que subiu 10% e atingiu sua melhor audiência em sete meses.

Já a Fox, segunda colocada na demo, não foi tão bem: dois de seus shows atingiram suas piores audiências na temporada: ‘The Cleveland Show’ (7 milhões e 3.3 pontos) e ‘American Dad’ (6 milhões e 2.9 pontos). Vale lembrar que ‘Cleveland’ vem sendo sacrificada pela emissora, sendo exibida em um horário diferente de onde estreou muito bem. A emissora também exibiu ‘Family Guy’ (8.3 milhões e 4.1 pontos) e ‘The Simpsons’ (9 milhões e 4.2 pontos).
