Kids, are just kids. But what if they are asked to write a letter? Wow, they were looking for thing we named : God, in any term.

Taken from sources, I got these during my tutorial session while working.

It’s been a while since the Audiozone brand rolled out. Not wanting to float my own boat, but I’m still stoked with how it turned out.

And it really is the project that keeps on giving. Every now and then Simon comes across to my side of the office and asks for a seasonal variant, to add interest and interaction with his site. Here’s a few of them.

JUDGE’S COMMENTS

Mark – Once again, the idea that the big challenge was in the S/Q is proven incorrect. Cleber knocks that combination out of the park! Both of those letters look completely natural, like there isn’t even much special going on. However, the bigger challenge (again) lives next door: the “h” in Shana. Overall, this was one of my favorite submissions on this round.

Nagfa - A simple and efficient design which makes it look so easy on the eyes. The names read easily, thanks to the good use of line thickness. The ‘n’ could well do with a less curvy bowl of the ‘a’ for an easier reading, and like most other solutions, the ‘h’ suffers the most.

Nikita – Cleber continues his outstanding ambigram work with this submission. What I love about this ambigram (as well as several others in this ACAC) is the consistency of the letterforms. My favorite letter inversion is the ‘S/Q’ combination. Beautifully done! What makes it a bit challenging is once again ‘h/i’ combination, as well as the consistency of the three lowercase ‘a’ characters. Other than those slight drawbacks, a very nicely designed ambigram!

Tym razem przed uczestnikami konkursu postawiono konkretne zadanie – stworzenie symbiotogramu imion Sadiq i Shana. Nie ukrywam, że preferuję te konkursy, w których temat wymaga od twórcy osadzenia pracy w określonym kontekście – historycznym lub kulturowym. Jednak pomimo to zdecydowałem się wysłać pracę, a swoistą inspiracją dla graficznej strony ambigramu stała się złota jesień, którą do niedawna mogliśmy podziwiać za oknami.

Given the near-lawless nature of the Internet, it’s very appropriate that the ‘at’ symbol (@) and the anarchy symbol are very similar.

Haven’t done an ambigram of my first name in a while. I’ll probably make one of my full name soon.

Pomysł na ten ambigram chodził za mną dosyć długo. Lekki, ozdobny styl liter nie do końca korespondował z treścią ambigramu - Battlefield (pole bitewne). Chcąc nieco złagodzić ten dysonans zdecydowałem się na dodatkową stylizację. Epoką, w której w dziedzinie wojskowości nad walorami praktycznymi przeważała wizualna strona ekwipunku i umundurowania był z pewnością cały wiek XIX. Stąd w drugim projekcie obecność  elementów kojarzących się z tą epoką.

Z rozwiązań literniczych na uwagę zasługuje chyba litera B, która po odwróceniu o 180 stopni zamienia się w ELD.

One of my favorite Dr. Seuss books, where new exotic letters are proposed to be added to the existing alphabet.

Each letter in this ambigram is inspired in some way by the unusual glyphs from the book.

Ambigram di Angel & Demon Sunting Ambigram tuh tulisan yang bisa dibalik dan bacanya tetep sama…hehehe…simpel nya sih gitu kali ya pengertiannya. Sebelumnya gak gitu tau tentang ini, tapi sejak baca Angel and Demon jadi tertarik aja, keren sih, yang bikin ambigram pasti mikir keras banget biar jadi tulisan kayak gitu. Indah dan tetep terbaca…hehehe..:D

ang pertama adalah illuminati. Di bukunya, dituliskan bahwa Illuminati adalah sekelompok ilmuwan yang memberontak terhadap Vatikan.

Coba balik gambarnya, pasti bacanya juga sama….hehehe

Selanjutnya yang dijadiin ambigram adalah empat unsur yang terkandung dalam buku Angel and Demon.

Unsur pertama yaitu “Earth” alias bumi.

fire

Ambigram selanjutnya yaitu “Fire” alias api.

air

Selanjutnya yaitu “Air” yang berarti udara.

(yang bikin keren ya, bisa bikin dalam dua bahasa sekaligus, “Air” bahasa inggris ama bahasa Indonesia…kwkwkwkkw….:D)

water

Ambigram dari unsur terakhir yaitu “Water” yang artinya air.

Semua ini dibuat oleh ahli Ambigram Robert Langdon yang oleh Dan Brown namanya dijadiin tokoh utama di Angel and Demon.

Sebenarnya masih ada satu lagi ammbigram yang dalam buku Angel and Demon disebut dengan BErlian Illumintai. Tapi kok aku lupa yak naroh gambarnya dimana..heheh..:D (bener2 jadi orang pelupa nih sekarang, gimana caranya biar gak jadi pelupa yak???..:D)

A revisit of a previous sketch post.

Pomysł na dzisiejszy wpis zrodził się dawno temu, ale rozliczne, związane z brakiem czasu ale i pomysłu na realizację problemy, opóźniły jego opublikowanie aż do dzisiaj. Jest on swoistym podziękowaniem dla internautów, którzy umieszczając na swoich stronach odnośniki do tej strony przyczynili się do jej popularyzacji. Od strony graficznej, prezentowane prace są ucieczką od ciężkiego gotyckiego stylu jaki dominuje na blogu.

Kryterium wyboru było proste. Przeglądając statystyki mojego bloga wybrałem te osoby, z których stron zanotowałem najwięcej wizyt. Dodam, że wszystkie odnośniki pojawiły się w pierwszym miesiącu funkcjonowania bloga, kiedy wcale nie zapowiadał się on obiecująco.

Najwięcej wizyt zaobserwowałem ze strony Naguiba i Fadilah z Singapuru. Jako że Nagfa jest już w posiadaniu mojego ambigramu ze swoim nickiem, zdecydowałem się na ambigram z imieniem ich córki: Nayla Najwa.

Drugim miejscem, z którego odnotowałem najwięcej wizyt okazał się blog mojego starego druha MacKozera. Grafika łączy w sobie dwa ambigramy, w jakimś sensie odzwierciedlające dwie sfery aktywności MacKozera.

Trzecią osobą, która przywiodła najwięcej gości w to miejsce okazał się Jose Manuel z Malagi. Nie ukrywam, że stworzenie ambigramu dla niego przysporzyło mi najwięcej trudności. Pierwsze próby podjąłem przygotowując ambigramy dla uczestników NAC Into the Labyrinth. Dopiero olśnienie, że można połączyć literę O z S aby utworzyć E, umożliwiło ukończenie ambigramu.

Czym był by blog bez swoich komentatorów? W tym miejscu chciałbym również podziękować stałym komentatorom. Cieszę się, że na bieżąco śledzicie moje zmagania i dajecie wyraz swojej opinii w komentarzach. Jako, że stałych komentatorów nie ma zbyt wielu – uhonorowałem wszystkich trzech

W pierwszej kolejności dziękuję Sophe. Układ liter w nicku predestynował go do utworzenia ambigramu łańcuchowego. Praca, która powstała jest chyba najlepszym ambigramem tego typu jaki stworzyłem.

Za pełne entuzjazmu komentarze dziękuję również Jose Fraga z Brazylii. Jakiś czas temu stworzyłem ambigram Fraga, ale jego proste gotyckie kształty nie do końca satysfakcjonowały mnie.

Na koniec podziękowania dla Edrache, nie tylko za komentarze ale i popularyzację mojej strony. Ambigram ściśle nawiązuje do jego pasji – gier planszowych. Pojawia się w nim również stworzony przez Edrache bohater komiksowych pasków o tematyce, a jakże -  związanej z grami.

Nieustająco wpatruję się w statystyki bloga, więc być może wpis podobny do powyższego kiedyś jeszcze zagości na nim;-)

Just a word I got stuck on while looking for phrases. I was looking for a bit of a challenge, something longer than I usually did. This obliged.

I’m not fully happy with it. There’s a bit of trouble shaping the curve of the ‘g’. If i bring it closer to the head, it’ll mess with the perception of the ‘n’, making it look too much like an ‘h’.

Critical comments would be appreciated.

Fui selecionado para ministrar uma oficina sobre ambigramas no Encontro Estadual de Estudantes de Design de Pernambuco 2009, o ÉDesign. Haverá a parte teórica com slides super legais que fiz =D, e a parte prática, com dicas e orientações minhas. Fui avisado há um bom tempo, mas eu queria terminar uma coisa antes de fazer este post… E essa coisa é isto:

Meu primeiro ambigrama real e decentemente vetorizado, e consequentemente o mais bonitinho e bem acabado. O ambigrama em si não foi lá tão difícil de desenvolver, já que é bem parecido com o de NDesign, e a própria vetorização não foi muito trabalhosa… Acho que estou pegando a manha…

A data e o horário exato em que darei a oficina eu ainda não sei, mas não importa a vocês, afinal as inscrições pela internet para o evento já estão acabando e a maioria de vocês é de outro estado e não tem interesse em eventos de design e teriam que ser muito obcecados por ambigramas ou por mim pra viajar e participar de um evento só pra ver uma oficina minha. De qualquer forma, vou dizer, daqui a pouco, “estão todos convidados!” só por hábito, mas não significa nada, até porque o evento é pago. Estão todos convidados!

A while back I did a ‘left/right’ ambigram taking advantage of the fact that ‘right’ has twice the amount of vertical lines of ‘left’. This is also the case with ‘life/death’. The MM tattoo almost makes use of this, so I tweaked the layout and this is the end result.
