Table Mountain was victim of ambush marketing in Cape Town last night. A projection of 4 faces spreading a World Cup 2010 message was seen projected onto the mountain. Officials have been baffled as to the agency/client in charge..

On Thanksgiving Day, three teens decided it would be fun to ring the doorbell of 36-year-old Charles L. Whitmore and run.

Well Charles did not have a sense of humor that day and gave chase in his car. He managed to catch up with the trio and capture one unnamed 15 year old boy. Now a normal person would have just given the boy a good talking to and maybe called the kids parents. But is Charles normal? Obviously no….

Charles decided the best course of action would be to load the kid into his car and take him home with him. After he gets the kids inside his home, he is joined by his wife and they both sit down to dicuss what they are going to do to preven this kid from ringing doorbells again. Among the ideas floating around were hurting the boy with a sledgehammer, golf club and propane torch.

Thankfully, these ideas were cut short when the other teens (who managed to escape), contacted the father of the teen hostage and Dad rushed to rescue his son. The reports are the son was not hurt, but I’m pretty sure he needed a change of shorts.

Charles on the other hand, wasn’t as lucky. He was arrested and charged with unlawful imprisonment and felonious assault. He was released on 5000.00 bail.

Maybe the Whitmore’s should consider a doorknocker instead?

Four officers killed by a low life piece of shit. He was pardoned by Mike Huckabee 10 years ago. Just in case you were wondering, Huckabee is a RINO.

But, the true issue here is that a known felon killed four police officers in a cold blooded ambush. Completely unprovoked.

My prayers for their families; may God have mercy on their souls and give peace to their families and strength in this hour of mourning.

City of Lakewood Identifies Slain Police Officers

Lakewood Police Chief Bret Farrar publicly identified the four slain police officers after an extensive and very difficult notification process. “All four of our slain officers had been with this department since it started five years ago. Sergeant Mark Renninger and Officers Ronald Owens, Tina Griswold, and Greg Richards were police veterans when they started and all have been outstanding professionals. This is a very difficult time for our families and our officers. The families will have many challenges ahead of them and we ask that their privacy be respected. Please keep our families and Lakewood Police in your prayers.”

Cops: Suspect in Officer Executions May Be Dead

SEATTLE —  A suspect in the slaying of four police officers who were gunned down in a suburban coffee shop was surrounded by police at a Seattle house early Monday, wounded and possibly dead, police said.

Negotiators were trying to communicate with Maurice Clemmons, 37, using loudspeakers, explosions and even a robot to try to prod him from hiding. At one point, gunshots rang through the neighborhood, about 30 miles from the original crime scene.

“We have determined that in fact he has been shot,” said Ed Troyer, a spokesman for the Pierce County Sheriff. “He may be deceased from his gunshot wound.

Clemmons, who has a long criminal history — including a long prison sentence commuted by former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee nearly a decade ago — became the prime target Sunday in the search for the killer of Lakewood police Sgt. Mark Renninger, 39, and Officers Ronald Owens, 37, Tina Griswold, 40, and Greg Richards, 42.

Seattle Police: Cop-Killing Suspect on the Loose

Police in Washington state say the suspect in the killings of four police officers in a Seattle-area coffee shop is not inside the house that they’ve surrounded since early Monday morning.

Negotiators spent the night trying to communicate with 37-year-old Maurice Clemmons, but discovered after a search of the Seattle house and that the suspect was not inside.

Gunmen ambushed a caravan of political supporters and journalists on their way to file election papers Monday, killing at least 21 people in a massacre considered shocking even for a region notorious for violence between rival clans.

The National Union of Journalists of the Philippines said at least 10 local reporters were part of the convoy. Their newspapers and radio stations have not been able to reach them, raising fears that they were killed. If confirmed, it would be the “largest single massacre of journalists ever,” according to Paris-based Reporters Without Borders.

The president’s office termed the attack the worst political violence in recent history.

“Covering the news has always been dangerous in the Philippines, but the wanton killing of so many people makes this an assault on the very fabric of the country’s democracy,” said Bob Dietz, Asia program coordinator for the Committee to Protect Journalists in New York.

Police said the convoy of 40 people was going to register Ismael Mangudadatu to run for provincial governor when they were stopped by some 100 gunmen and taken to a remote mountainous area.

Four sheriff’s deputies were fatally shot Sunday in what police described as an ambush in a coffee shop near Seattle.

Sad story out of Washington State this afternoon. 4 Police officers getting coffee before going on duty, were shot and killed by an unknown person while sitting in a coffee shop. LE is saying this was an ambush and the officers were targeted.

I know you are all probably wondering why I haven’t gone into details about Maurice Clemmons, the person police say committed this crime. It is because I feel he does not deserve the attention it would take to fill you in on all he has done and stands accused of doing. We do have a large forum on You Be The Judge with discussion about this case and all these details are on there. I’m keeping him off this blog as much as possible so these victims can have some space that belongs only to them. They do not need to be overshadowed by him any longer.

A DOCTOR and his wife have been fined £5,000 for what a Sheriff described as “the most outrageous breach of the peace I have ever experienced” in his 20-year career.

Dr John McCallum and his wife Michele “ambushed” their neighbour Roslyn Kinder after hearing that she had tried to run over their kids in her SUV.

The Edinburgh doctor – who earns £100,000 a year – blocked Mrs Kinder from parking her car while his wife hounded her for an explanation.

But when CCTV of the incident was shown during a trial at Edinburgh Sheriff Court, Sheriff Graeme Warner was left in no doubt.

He told the couple today (Friday): “In more than 20 years of being a Sheriff, I thought it was positively chilling to see on the CCTV.

“Had I been Mrs Kinder, I would have been scared out of my wits.”

The argument – in the middle of one of the capital’s poshest residential streets – left neighbours divided over who was in the wrong.

Even crime writer Ian Rankin – a neighbour of the warring Napier Road families – was cited as a witness, but ultimately did not have to give evidence.

Mrs Kinder, 48, said she was forced to “run the gauntlet” every time she drove her 4×4 out of her house because the McCallums – both aged 49 – “love to taunt” her.

And her five year-old son, who was with her in the car, was left so terrified that he had nightmares of the McCallums and had to see a psychologist.

After leaving her home to pick up her son in September last year, Mrs Kinder returned to find Dr McCallum standing in front of the electric gates to her home.

She said: “I knew Dr McCallum was waiting for me.

“It was very sinister and rather odd as he was staring at me in a threatening way.

“As I started to reverse towards my drive, he stood behind my car and wouldn’t let me past.

“He was staring fiercely and I was scared so I sounded the horn countless times.”

The couple had been told by their three children that Mrs Kinder had tried to run them down earlier that day.

But CCTV footage from her home shown in court proved otherwise.

She added: “Then Michele McCallum came out from her house looking absolutely fierce and started banging on the car screaming, “you tried to run over my children.”

“Then she got into her own car and started sounding her horn and imitating my distress, while laughing and waving to her own children. There was a sense of euphoria about them all.

“Her eyes were red and I thought she was going to assault me, while my son was sitting there terrified. He has suffered serious nightmares since this and we had to take him to a child psychologist.”

“It was causing massive uproar”

Dr McCallum said he “could only do what any parent would do” by phoning police after his kids told him Mrs Kinder drove her car at them.

But Mrs Kinder insisted she had done nothing wrong.

She said: “Police questioned me then viewed the CCTV from our house and were satisfied I had done nothing wrong.

“But the McCallums were loving it, behaving like wild animals, ambushing me.

“I do not know why they behave like this.”

Defence agent David Blair Wilson said: “Mrs McCallum was perfectly entitled to try and get an explanation from Mrs Kinder.

“When Mrs Kinder shut the car door, Mrs McCallum was entitled to open the door to speak to her.

“It does not amount to breach of the peace.”

Sheriff Warner found the pair guilty of breach of the peace and fined them £2,500 each.

He said: “Fortunately we had it all recorded for us to see in court.

“I very much regret to inform you that I found you both largely incredible witnesses.

“The conduct could not possibly have more clearly constituted a breach of the peace.

“Many of the neighbours came out into the street and it was causing massive uproar.

“You should be profoundly ashamed of yourselves and I find you both guilty of the charges against you.”

The couple refused to comment outside court.

Ambush Apparel – The element of surprise

Today I am in Mindanao, Philippines. If you mention Mindanao to any Filipino, they will shudder. Today’s paper read “21 bodies found”. After three days they have now found 61 bodies. They were all journalists and politicians who had been executed to intimidate others.  They were killed all together and buried in the ground with their vehicles.
It seems interesting to me that Mindanao is far more dangerous than Cambodia. From 1975-1979 the Cambodians killed up to 3.1 million people, a massive 40% of the population in its genocide. Mindanao has had ongoing war for well over 100 years.
Cambodia is about 80% Buddhist, even if they are nominal. It has a large growing Christian population and a strong government. The Philippines has about 90% Christian (mostly nominal Catholic) population and a small muslim population. Their government: Comedy. A famous boxer is running for congress (I think he finished 5th grade). A drunk actor who was given life in prison for corruption is running for president. The current president, ignoring the constitutional term limits, is wanting to be president for life. . . utter chaos.
The Philippines has far more natural resources than Cambodia. They also have far more educated people and a huge English speaking workforce. So what is the problem? It is not religion. It is not necessarily politics. I would say it is clearly a problem of the heart.
Any country where greed, hunger for power and sin are dominant will not progress. If we can change people’s hearts toward righteousness, I think there will be hope for Mindanao!

So, yeah, I acted like a dick (pun intended) and who am I bullshitting? She was my type and it sucked being brushed off. Anyway, the city of Ottawa is really small so, I figured our paths would cross again sometime soon. My attitude during the evening had been unacceptable and I promised myself that, the next time we will meet, I would apologize.

As expected, I saw the girl at a party. She was sitting near the bar with a friend. I hesitated before going to talk to her. I wanted to buy her a drink, but I did not have enough money. I had a $ 20 note: this was not enough to pay three drinks (one for her, one for me and one for her girlfriend…). Note to all ladies: it’s all fine and dandy to hang out with your friends at a club, but you become unapproachable when you’re surrounded by your posse!

In spite of my financial woes, I took a deep breath and went in for the kill.
- You are not dancing today, I asked.

- No, I’m tired. In addition, the music is not good, she said with a smile, recognizing me. She turned on her stool to face me properly. Damn, she looked good and, hell yeah,  I was on top of my game, as usual!

(Her friend must have caught on to the vibes: my game was tight, her friend was safe with me and she was quite obviously the 3rd wheel in this club; she promptly disappeared for most of the night. Cudos to all women who do not cock-block!)

Editor’s Note: At the time, I was quite popular in the city of Ottawa. Girls nicknamed me The French Boy, because of my accent.

In my opinion, there is nothing more horrible than hearing a French guy speaking English with a heavy accent. All my life, I tried to get rid of that damn accent. I wanted to sound like Nas, the New York rapper. Unfortunately, all my efforts were in vain: I could not pronounce words like Americans and it was frustrating.

I had no idea that my accent was my charm. Apparently, the girls thought it was “exotic.” Often, the Lord gives us blessings and we, poor fools, try to get rid of them.

That night, Betty and I exchanged phone numbers. I realized she was not only a sexy kitten but also a very intelligent girl. We didn’t dance at all, too busy talking to each other, telling stories and jokes, laughing, in spite of the loud music.

Amazing, ain’t it? We were both in the night club and instead of dancing, we were talking. She told me about her life. She was studying medicine, her dream was to become a pediatrician. I wasn’t saying much, except for the occasional smooth line and joke. I was just listening, looking at her with admiring eyes: there’s nothing sexier than a smart woman. Note to all women: if you have nothing between your ears, you will be nothing but a sex object for men.
Corny as it may sound, that evening, instead of having a woman over in bed, I got a friend in my life. The next day, I was so impatient to see her again. I took my phone and I called:
- What are you doing tomorrow night? We can go see a movie, I suggested.
- Excellent idea! It will do me good, I’m a little stressed out right now because of the exams, she said.

Now, here’s the truth: usually, when I invite a chick to the movies, it’s not because I am dying to see the film. For me, the cinema is an ambush. It is where I devour my prey. In the darkness, one sees my real nature. As soon as the daylight disappears, I transform into a werewolf. Without realizing it, the poor girl had fallen into my trap. MOUHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!

Apparently I have enough time to update my post tag list, nothing new in the land of N yet, trying to figure out how I’m going to interlink all of my story’s into movuies and stuff.

A colleague sent me a YouTube link yesterday of a video clip depicting an ambush in Africa. A herd of Cape buffalo is seen approaching a river. Obviously unbeknownst to the herd, a group of several lionesses are hunkered down in a wallow. Of course, the lions know all along what they’re planning but the herd has no idea at all. The predators tan blends in perfectly with the sand and dirt. By the time the lead bull sees the lions, it is too late. A young calf is quickly singled out and bowled over into the river. In knee-deep water, one lion grabs it by the throat, another by the head. Two others join in without much effect. Mostly they’re just there, waiting for the calf to suffocate.

After a few minutes, there is a commotion in the water and the lions suddenly start dragging the calf up the steep bank. A crocodile has grabbed the calf’s hinder parts. The lions win this fifteen-second tug-of-war and smother the calf to the ground and gather around it for dinner.

The herd has other plans.

The entire throng moves up close. One and another take turns rushing up toward the lions in what is surely a bluff. One of the buffs isn’t bluffing, though. It targets the lion on the near end and rushes, then spins and lands a double rear kick into the lion’s ribs, knocking it away from the calf. Then, it chases the lion away.

Just after that, another of the Cape crew tears into the group, dips its horns down underneath a lion and flips it up into the air like a rag doll. It lands near the herd and is quickly chased off in the opposite direction.

At that point, the calf struggles to its feet again, another buffalo and then another move in. One digs with its horns and the other delivers a whirling spin kick and the calf is freed. It runs back into the middle of the herd and the lions retreat. All in all, a pretty amazing episode, lasting about eight minutes.

Nothing has changed, really. The next day and the next, lions and crocodiles will continue to feed upon whatever they can ambush, whatever they can overwhelm, whatever is weaker, less aware, unprotected. That is the nature of beasts and predators. There will be, from time to time, some refreshing story of the courage of the herd, the against all odds rescue that makes us shake our heads and wonder if we would rush in against the lions.

Whether or not the calf ultimately died from its wounds or not, I don’t know. But I do know this: if it did, it was because of the lions and the crocodile, not because its herd lacked the nerve or courage. To do justice often requires risk. And for the weak and frail, it is only by the love of others that they are able to prevail.

Isang malaking dagok ito sa kinamumuhiang rehimeng US-Arroyo at nagpapatunay ng kabiguan ng Oplan Bantay Laya 2.

I can only remember half of this dream. I was in town somewhere at night and I was cosplaying. Some guy ran up to me and tried to pull my wig off my head and steal it. I wouldn’t let him and I held it on my head as he was pulling out of it. I started shouting to passers by to help me when I saw my old Irish and German teacher walking by. I called her name to help me but when she turned to face me, the guy fled.

I knew that he was still going to be after me though so I went into a nearby shop (I know it sold food, but I’m not sure what…could’ve been a butcher’s). For some reason I started saying that they’d given me the wrong order the previous day and I wanted a replacement. He handed me a blue box supposedly filled with the replacement. I went through town quickly because I thought that the guy was chasing me. I decided to set a trap for him with the stuff I’d gotten from the shop.

I reached a small park and placed the box, which was now the size of a crate, in the middle of a clearing. Suddenly a guy came up and started looking through the box. I thought he was the guy who had tried to steal my wig but before I could confront him, I realised it was Chris. I was completely confused until I looked in the box and saw that it was full of books on anthropology and stuff. I thought to myself that I’d need something different to catch a thief with. I told Chris he could keep the books, they weren’t what I needed.

Weird dream.

Often, the memories wake me in the dead of night, and I listen carefully to every sound. Sometimes, I remember one rainy night with the King Cobra and the water buffalo.

If you have never been in combat, you may not understand what happens for a soldier to develop PTSD (Post Traumatic Stress). I wrote about one event in the short story, A Night at the Well of Purity. I’ve written about others here and in a few of the poems I’ve posted on Authors Den.

It was 1966, and the rain was coming down hard as we left the safety of our base camp. The First Tank Battalion sat on a hill centered on the First Marine Division’s perimeter at Chu Lai, a spit of sand jutting into the South China Sea. Concertina wire, bunkers, and a platoon of flame tanks protected the camp. There were two adjoining hills. One held an artillery company. The third held a company of Ontos, a self-propelled, lightly armored anti-tank vehicle that mounted six M40 106 mm recoilless rifles.

Military intelligence had reported that there might be several boatloads of Vietcong moving down a canal that night near our hill. On our way to set up the ambush, we avoided the villages and moved through rice paddies instead of walking on land. The idea was to stay out of sight. As the radio operator, I was situated in the center of the column of poncho clad Marines.

When a Vietnamese farmer was seen working in an adjacent rice paddy, we squatted with the dark paddy water to our chins and propped our weapons on our helmets. The rain was coming down in sheets. That was when I saw the full sized King Cobra. It was moving parallel to our column about ten feet from my position. Its hood was open as if it were ready to strike. I watched as the head dropped into the water among the bright green shoots of rice and vanished. The King Cobra is the world’s longest poisonous snake and can reach a length up to 5.6 m (18.5 ft). It can easily kill a man with a single bite.

We had to stay submerged in that rice paddy, so I imagined that King Cobra moving below the water toward me. Every inch of my body tingled, and I wanted out but I did not move. Time slowed to a snail’s crawl.

Later, we slipped into position on the dike that ran along the canal with a BAR (Browning Automatic Rifle) on each flank. Hours went by. Marines fell asleep, then the world exploded with the roar of those BARs. Everyone joined in, and the night was filled with glowing tracer rounds.

At dawn, we discovered one tough water buffalo staggering around full of holes. There was no sign of any dead Vietcong, but that was not unusual. The Vietcong often took their dead with them.

Nakuha ng mga pulang mandirigma ng Celso Minguez Command ang tatlong ripleng M16 at iba pang gamit-militar sa matagumpay na ambus laban sa tropa ng 509th PNP Mobile Group sa Sityo Pinaradan, Brgy. Calomagon, Bulan, Sorsogon. Naisagawa ang ambus dakong alas-onse ng umaga nitong Nobyembre 9, 2009 sa gitna ng matinding operasyong militar ng 903rd Brigade sa lugar.

Nasawi sa ambus ang apat na kasapi ng 509th PPMG na kinilalang sina Police Captain Jefferson de Leon (deputy group commander), SP01 Johnson Gerola, SP02 Darwin Detoito, at PO1 Ryan Padrique. Sugatan naman ang tatlo pang iba na kinilalang sina PO1 Alwin Bandano, PO1 Allen Lanuza, at PO1 Franz Guamos.

Ang 509th PNP Mobile Group ay aktibo sa kontra-rebolusyonaryong kampanya ng Oplan Bantay Laya 2 at lehitimong target ng taktikal na opensiba ng BHB. Ganap na bibiguin ng rebolusyonaryong kilusan ang Bantay Laya 2 at parurusahan ang malupit na rehimeng US-Arroyo.
