Chris Gorham ha twitteado hace unos días que está de regreso en el set de Ugly Betty y que “el bebé de Ana Ortiz es bellisimo.”

Esto hace que nos preocupemos.

No a causa del bebé, pero algunas fuentes han estado anunciando sobre el destino de Betty: que el final puede estar cerca y los fantasmas(pretendientes) de Betty podrían estar de vuelta.

A pesar de Gorham se ha aclarado a través de Twitter, “no estoy de vuelta en Ugly Betty. “Solo visito a mis  amigos(actores) de ugly betty”, según las fuentes, puede ser muy pronto …

I had some spare time this weekend, so I decided to catch up on a few episodes of “Ugly Betty.” Seeing as how it’s currently November and I still hadn’t seen the season finale from May, it was about time.

I found that once I got back into the series, I couldn’t wait to see what happened next.  This forced me to lounge around and watch three of the four episodes that have been aired so far this season. (Sorry, econ homework).

I must say, the show is the best it’s been since season one.  However, ratings have gone down something like 37 percent from last year??  I’m blaming the show’s Friday night, 9 p.m. time slot for the dip in viewers.  I’m betting a lot of fans, myself included, watch episodes online when they have spare time, not at 9 on a Friday night.

While some critics believe that Betty (played by America Ferrera) has run her course, I wholeheartedly disagree.  The show still has the same wit it had during season one, which is one of the best parts of this show.  It would be nothing without Amanda (Becki Newton) and Marc (Michael Urie) slinging insults at Betty, and now that she’s more confident, her handing them right back.

To get you up to speed thus far…season four finds Betty working her way up the Mode food chain, as she is now a junior features editor for the magazine.  She and Marc were both up for the position, and Marc is not at all pleased Betty beat him out for the job–and he makes no effort to hide his disdain.  To add to Betty’s stress, her ex boyfriend, Matt (Daniel Eric Gold), is now her boss and tries to make her life as difficult as he possibly can.  Daniel (Eric Mabius) is trying to get back into the swing of things after the death of his wife, which includes hiring a new assistant at Mode and befriending a woman in his therapy group.

Here’s some of that humor I was talking about.  The following clip is from episode four of this season, where Betty and Marc investigate the top 10 worst jobs in NYC and pitch their idea to Wilhelmina. One of these jobs is that of a hot dog vendor…

Cool girls don't look at explosions

Emmy and Golden Globe winner América Ferrera will finally be in a fantasy film I will actually watch (sorry, Tinkerbell). The star of Ugly Betty- love it- will voice Astrid in the upcoming animated film How to Train Your Dragon.  From what I can tell from the trailer, she’s a friend of the main character Hiccup.  Hiccup is a Viking teenager in a tribe of dragon slayers, but he isn’t exactly the dragon slayer type. He befriends a dragon and tries to convince his fellow Vikings to see these creatures as something other than really dangerous pests. I haven’t read the children’s books it is based on, so here’s hoping that current fans and new folks like me both get a wonderful movie. It certainly looks awesome! I’m a fan of Craig Ferguson and Gerard Butler too, so that’s extra incentive to watch.

The trailer is viewed best at the official website. It looks amazing! How to Train Your Dragon will be in theaters in March 2010.

Lena, Tibby, Carmen och Bridget är bästa vänner och har varit det hela deras sextonåriga liv. Den här sommaren ska de var och en, för första gången, tillbringa sommaren på olika håll. Som en symbol för deras systerskap inhandlar de ett par jeans i en second handbutik, som märkligt nog passar alla fyra tjejer lika bra. För kompisarna blir de runtskickade jeansen ett par turbyxor som hjälper var och en, var helst de befinner sig, med såväl kärleken som med att förverkliga drömmar.

Filmen är baserad på Ann Brashares bok med samma namn och vad jag förstår oerhört uppskattad av tjejer i mellan- och högstadieåldern världen över. Men även en ”gubbe” som jag måste erkänna att det var rätt underhållande att se den här varma och livsbejakande filmatiseringen som ändå måste klassas som en hyfsat intelligent ungdomsfilm där tjejer inte nödvändigtvis måste porträtteras som våp vars ända mål i livet är att bli någons flickvän. Här ser vi också åtminstone tre unga aktriser som med stor sannolikhet kommer att hänga med länge; Amber Tamblyn (A Story of a Teenager), Alexis Bledel (Gilmore Girls, Sin City) och America Ferrera (Ugly Betty). Och jösses så sugen man blev på en Greklandssemester!

How to Train Your Dragon is a computer animated comedy adventure movie based on the book by Cressida Cowell. The film is directed by Chris Sanders and Dean DeBlois, and written by Dean DeBlois and Chris Sanders (script). It is no surprise when on a dragon hunt, Hiccup gets a Common Garden Dragon, while the bully gets a Monstrous Nightmare, the type of dragon only the Chief or Chief’s son should get. When a nasty pair of Seadragonus Giganticus Maximus appear on the beach, only Hiccup has a plan to save the day…

Betty's New Look

Did anyone else catch Ugly Betty last week? What an episode! It starts of with a dream–Betty getting her braces off. But why oh why was it just a dream? *sigh* Oh well. I guess they’ll have to leave that for the season finale or else America Ferrera won’t be ugly enough. As promised though, Betty has updated her look. She *does* work in the fashion industry after all!

But I’m a little disappointed with the storyline. There is so much going on with the other characters that Betty’s storyline is floundering. Justin’s relationships with his mom and with Marc are really blossoming. Wilhemina’s daughter is back and the ice queen is showing her motherly streak. Poor Daniel is getting over the heartache of his wife’s death.

But what about Betty?!? As usually, she’s too ugly for fashion, too concerned about the world for a fashion magazine–isn’t there some way to keep this fresh and interesting? Catfights within the office, Wilhemina being mean to her, fights/upsets with her boyfriends–it’s all getting old.
A slight fashion makeover isn’t going to cut it. Please don’t leave poor Betty behind!

America Ferrera was in NYC the other night attending various events.  As you know, America plays “Ugly Betty” but there is absolutely nothing at all ugly about this chick.  How many of you get down with the show?  More America Ferrera and that beautiful smile when you

America Ferrera, in the television show “Ugly Betty,” enters New York City skeptically in attempts to find a job at a high fashion magazine called Mode. Throughout the show, she was made fun of by her fellow fashionable coworkers because of her lack of fashion sense and she sticks out because she does not fit into New York City’s rush.  She wears braces and wears prescription glasses. This brings about, the judgmental factor of fashion. Although Betty is the most kind-hearted person in the show, she was seen as an outcast because she did not look the part. This serves as evidence that an individual is not judged initially by their personality, but by their attire. Some examples of this claim are that a business person is identified by suit and tie, a waitress by an apron, a doctor by a lab coat. The tutu defines a ballet dancer as graceful. These associations describe the social classes that fashion attributes to.  Image really plays a role in society  today, sometimes whether you look the part or not determines if you get a job or if you make it in modeling or if you get to fulfill your dream.

ABC’s Ugly Betty is back for it’s fourth season with a 2 hour premiere. The series,  starring Emmy Winner America Ferrera, enters it’s new season on a new day and time. Also there will be a whole new look and a whole new job for the show’s heroine Betty Suarez. Ana Ortiz, who plays Betty’s sister Hilda, shared some details about Betty’s new look during her guest co-host spot ABC’s daytime talk show The View. “‘They are coming off [in season four]“, said Ortiz of Betty’s signature braces. “Even in the first episode – it’s a two-hour episode, it’s brilliant – she starts to make the transition. It’s really exciting.”  Betty will also begin her new job as associate editor and will have a new co-worker when she shares an office. Actress Smith Cho joins the cast as Betty’s office-mate. The new season of ‘Betty’ begins Friday, October 16 on ABC.

Have you guys seen this past episode of Ugly Betty (U.S. version with America Ferrera in the title role) where the main characters are seen in the company of Japanese fashion designer Oshi and his entourage? I find it amusing that they used Apl.de.ap’s Tagalog rap Black-Eyed Peas ditty “Bebot” in the musical score of the scene. Instead of using some Japanese-inspired eclectic pop or J-POP, they picked this one instead.

I fans di Ugly Betty saranno ancora rattristati dal triste epilogo della terza stagione della serie tv. Ma ecco che Betty e tutto lo staff di Mode stanno tornando sulla tv americana, precisamente sulla ABC. La season premiere doveva andare in onda questo venerdì, ma è slittata al 16 ottobre. Chiaramente, non perchè tirasse aria di crisi per il telefilm, ma a causa della prima lunga puntata: ben due ore e qualche ospite celebre, tra cui Shakira. Certamente gli ascolti non saranno un flop e anche noi speriamo di poter veder presto sui nostri schermi il ritorno di Betty. Un anticipo? Becki Newton ha rivelato che sarà più presente in questa serie e a tutte le fashion addicted di certo non spiacerà.
