My girlfriend took me along with her to “New Moon,” the second movie in the Twilight series.  I’m not usually a fan of effeminate vampire movies with poor dialogue, terrible acting, and a vacuous plot, but I went to “New Moon” for two reasons: I was going with a ridiculously cute girl, and that ridiculously cute girl was buying me lunch.  Bring on the effeminate vampires!

The movie stars Robert Pattinson as Edward Cullen, Taylor Lautner as Jacob Black, and an intensely fraught sloth Kristen Stewart as Bella Swan.  For how preteens throw their souls and money at the Twilight franchise, you’d think Stewart could pool enough resources together to hire an acting coach for this film.  The acting coach wouldn’t need to be very experienced, only someone to teach Stewart that her current guide to acting is cause for moviegoer hara-kiri.

THE KRISTEN STEWART GUIDE TO ACTING

1. Keep your mouth open.  Remember, dumbly gaping at everyone shows that you’re listening to them!
2. Respond to every line of dialogue with a slight exhale of disbelief.  Every line. If Edward says, “Bella, you’re going to get hurt,” slightly exhale in disbelief before saying, “I can take the pain.”  If Edward says, “Hey, how about some sliders from White Castle?” slightly exhale in disbelief before saying, “Yeah, sure. Sliders.”
3. Being in love is not joyful or happy.  Say lines like “I want to be with you forever” or “I love you, Edward” as if you’d rather swallow nails than spend the rest of your life with this chucklehead.

Lautner needs some acting help, too.  I don’t know how to play a convincing Native American werewolf, but I do know that a pile of muscles and teeth whiter than my thighs are not the secret.  Do you think the script had stage directions like “ANGRY FACE” or “HAPPY FACE” with Jacob’s dialogue, or are angry and happy faces the only thing Lautner can do?

For 90% of the movie I don’t know what the conflict was.  Everyone moped around and uncomfortably tried to kiss each other for a while, and then suddenly we’re in Italy and Dakota Fanning is hurting people with her mind.  I guess some last-minute conflict with Dakota Fanning is better than no conflict at all.  There was a fight scene with Edward and some guy who thought Bella smelled like a tasty treat, but the same exact thing happened at the end of the last movie. (Yeah, my girlfriend dragged me to that one, too.  I made her buy me dinner.)  Really, how tasty could Bella be?  For how miserable she is, she’s probably gamy and bland.  A scab would be tastier.

Last thing: I’m on Team Alice. Holy hell.

“New Moon” receives one out of five thumbs up.

SO this is a true story:

I babysit two kids, they shall be called Thing #1 and Thing #2 ranked in order of oldest to youngest.  I’ve been with these kids for quite a while now, and we have gotten to be extremly close.  One day during a meal, Thing #1 falls and says “im a cat i always land on all fours”

So i of course, immediatly say “just like Jensen Ackles!!” because there is a gag reel of him falling and saying something similar to that…and he is always on my mind obviously

Then the questions start…Who is that? where is he from? why? whats the show called? who else is on it? whats the show about? why is it about that? why do you like it? why does he say that? why? why? why?

Its like the question brigade and if my answers would help them magically understand all of lifes problem, (it wont by the way, in case you were wondering) but the questions never stopped. Finally i said enough, and then decided not to answer any more questions, and so that was then end of that…or so i though!

Then the most amazing thing happened, or like my doom, one or the other. They were jumping on the furnature which is a big no-no and so i started to yell (more like raised voices) and then Thing # 1 says (out of no where!) “JENSEN ACKLES!” and so im like WAIT…WHAT?!

Because anyone yelling Jensen Ackles while your yelling at them, is enough to throw anyone off their guard at any point. and Thing #1 heard me talk about him once, (just once i swear!) and here she is saying him name while im mad. totally unfair! How can anyone stay mad, when little children are saying Jensen Ackles, and thats it thats all she says, Jensen Ackles and then she smiles, so I SMILE!

How does she even remember his name? and darn it she used it against me so well, she just kept repeating him name over and over till  im laughing and shes laughing and OMG its horrid.

Shes like an elephant she never forgets!

Now she knows that whenever im mad all she has to say is two simple words, and i can’t be mad anymore, i have to smile, cause its Jensen Friggin Ackles….

She knows my weakness…now shes going to use it against me all the time!

Damn her im ruined! Ruined i say!

There are some things is life we cherish. Some are bitter but through time, we looked back at it and laugh together. I couldn’t believe it for myself to have gone through the miserable years of my life in boarding school. In the end, I came out with a bunch of people fun to be around with and great great souls that I shared secrets with.

This has been our dorm’s song! We were amongst the first person who discovered Xfresh.fm where Adi was still with Julia. We called the station dedicated the song to each other. Even after SPM was over, we still buzzed each other whenever the song was aired. We both know why we loved the song so much! That was our memory!

p/s: It’s the best day in my working life! I so love my job, for today only (minus you-know-who). I am looking forward to work with them again! I’m definitely going to the 24th Juara Lagu. Friday has always been a wonderful day!

(Wow. Time flies when you’re not feeling well. Too much time has passed since my last entry.)

I’m not entirely sure in what order some of these next memories occurred. I’ll just jot them down as they come to me.

I have an ancient love for little pink umbrellas made of paper. You see, we had a carnival in our backyard in San Jose benefitting the Muscular Dystrophy Foundation. I recall the festive atmosphere, watching my brothers and my father set up games (there was a dunk tank, I think), but mostly I remember the huge bags of little pink umbrellas being given out as prizes. I can still see their bright pink color that so delighted me, and the tiny little shiny wooden caps on top. To this day I’m tempted to ask for a pink umbrella in my diet Cokes. Bartenders look at me strangely.

I’m sure there were much better prizes but these…well they might be responsible for my lifelong love of the color fuchsia.

Whatever you are thinking about when you read that title, well, forget it. Jeez, c’mon! ahaha

I’m quite possibly talking about the Amusement Station aka Game Centre aka Aracde located in downtown Sapporo. This isn’t my regular/local game centre that I visit on a weekly basis but is one that I have been to a few times now.

If your name starts with an L, ends with an E, and has a U and K in the middle, this arcade is for you. Why? Well, let me refer it to as the fighters arcade. If you love Street Fighter, Tekken, King of Fighters, Gundam, Melty Blood, etc, then this could perhaps be a little taste of heaven.

Little tournaments are hosted all the time for the various 2D & 3D fighters and in fact, during my brief stay last night, one was being held for one of the Gundam games.

The main focus in this particular arcade are fighters (obviously), but they do offer a few rhythm games for music lovers. And for those crazy car fanatics, Initial D Arcade Stage 5 and Wangan Midnight Maximum Tune 3DX got you covered.

The only thing I don’t really like about this arcade is that because of its size (small) and the fact that smoking is allowed, the breathing environment kinda sucks. I spent 45 minutes there yesterday and that’s all I could take. It might not be that bad, but I just find it a tad bothersome.

All in all though, I would recommend this game centre to whomever needs their fighting fix. You will definitely find some great competitors who’ll teach you a thing or two. Believe me, I’ve tried my luck first hand and was brutally destroyed each time.

I give MAXIM Amusement Station 7 Quarter Circle Forward Punches out of SEVEN.
