Seja lá como for, precisamos disso.

Okay, so, I was reading over some posts in the blog of a friend of mine, just waiting for the batter

Okay, so, I was reading over some posts in the blog of a friend of mine, just waiting for the battery on my laptop to die so I can hook it up and not use it so that it can fully charge while I recharge my own batteries. Well, one of her posts is that she doesn’t care who reads her blog. She’s perfectly fine with just writing to nobody, to empty cyberspace.

Man, I wish I had her attitude about this. I’ve only had this blog a little while, and already, I can tell that I’m hooked. By the time I post this, you might think, “Oh, another post. She wrote about this today.” Not really. I actually started this post only a little while after I finished the third. But I want to get my thoughts down so I can remember.

I can rationalize and rationalize, but in the end, all it comes down to is that I’m hooked. Why? Why am I so eager to know what people — who I don’t even know, and that’s the kicker! — think about me? Who are you out there, who has so fascinated me???

I don’t know. I can’t answer that question. All I know that is that I’m fascinated by the statistics option that shows you a chart of how many people have looked at you. And pathetic me, my heart was warmed when I saw that three people had visited my page already. I can’t help but be aggrieved with myself, and yet, here I sit, still writing. In all honesty, I’ll probably save this and visit the statistics page again, just to see, even though I know that it’s silly to think that someone will be up in the middle of the night to read what I’ve written. Silly.

I’ll manage not to. I’ll check email, Facebook, distract myself with other things until the remaining fifteen minutes that my computer battery has pass and the laptop — his name is Gerry, by the way; it’s short for “Geriatric” — shuts down. Then, I’ll let myself go to bed. We’ll see what happens next.

Well, I’m back, and I’m going to be a little more general. This blogging mania will wear off soon, and I’ll be posting only once or twice a week. Probably after I get back into classes. But whatever.

So, I’m sitting here blogging and watching Anthony Bourdain: No Reservations. My family loves food; we often insist that we should be Italian by food. My parents are amazing cooks. You should’ve tasted the ribs we had that my father smoked. Delicious! And my father always really liked Alton Brown, as did I. The man’s thorough knowledge of food combined with a goofy sense of humor really caught me, and the themes that he had for some of his episodes — a spy episode stands out in my mind — really made it engaging to watch.

No Reservations is different. A cameraman just seems to follow Mr. Bourdain around wherever he currently is, and he just has a lot of fun eating and immersing himself in the locals’ culture. He is obviously very intelligent, and he’s so respectful of the cultures around him, especially since it’s not his own. It’s refreshing to see that on television. He doesn’t hesitate to let loose some colorful words, but he’s always very conscious of the company that he’s in.

I guess I’ve got food on my mind. It’s noon, and I did go see Julie and Julia with my boyfriend last night. And no, that is not the reason why I have a blog! I’ve been tossing around the idea for a while, like I said, and it is serendipitous (Wow, did I really spell that right? Score!) chance that the two coincided. I suppose I should write a little review now. Well, here goes. It took me a couple minutes to realize that the flashes between Julia Child’s life and Julie Powell’s were not taking place at the same time, mostly because I’d missed the date that they flashed right in the very beginning. But I got it!

I thought that there was a lot of focus on Julia Child, and not enough on Julie. It seemed a little sporadic at points when they introduced Julie back into the story. Did I hate it? No. In fact, I loved the movie. Meryl Streep was absolutely fantastic, and I can’t help but adore Amy Adams since her appearance in Enchanted. Amy Adams played her character so well, and I was intensely gratified that, at the part where Julie and her husband Eric have their large fight, Julie didn’t blog about it. It showed real maturity on her part, I think.

Yes, I’m talking about characters in a movie, but seeing as how this is based off a true story (two true stories!), then I think I can applaud her.

Well, as I said, it’s noon, and I’m getting rather hungry. TTFN!

Amy Adams me emociona.

Julie & Julia is Nora Ephron’s latest movie starring Meryl Streep, Amy Adams, Stanley Tucc

Julie & Julia is Nora Ephron’s latest movie starring Meryl Streep, Amy Adams, Stanley Tucci and Chris Messina.

Plot:
Julie Powell (Amy Adams) is working in an office, but her real passion in life is cooking. So, one day, she decides to cook her way through Julia Child’s (Meryl Streep) French cookbook and blog about it, not anticipating the changes this will make to herself and her life.
Interwoven into Julie’s story, we see how Julia Child’s gets to write the book and how hard she had to work for it.

Julie & Julia is good, solid entertainment: Nothing too deep, nice sense of humour and good performances. Makes for a very enjoyable evening.

Julie & Julia did not knock me out of my socks or surprise me but it is one of those comforting movies where you know exactly what to expect – and you get it.

The story itself is sweet and most people leave the movie with the desire to get cooking (I, on the other hand, only got hungry). It unfurls in the way you expect it to, the only thing that might come a bit as a surprise is that
the two Js never get to meet after all and that Julia doesn’t seem to approve of what Julie’s doing.
But I guess that’s because it’s based on a true story. Or on Two True Stories.

The performances were good. I like Amy Adams and it was nice to see her act at least sometimes (instead of just looking pretty and naive with her big blue eyes, which seems to be a summary of most of her roles). Meryl Streep was, of course, delightful (damn you, Meryl Streep, because of you I might actually watch It’s Complicated).

But I also have to point out that Julie as well as Julia seem to have found the only perfect guys in the world. Both their husbands – played by Chis Messina and Stanley Tucci, respectively – were absolutely wonderful.

I don’t know what else to tell you than that this could very well become one of my regular comfort movies and that if you want light, fun entertainment, you’re going to be perfectly alright here.

Y tu, Gossip Girl? Man, it seems like every show this week is taking off for Thanksgiving. Gossip Girl, Mad Men, Sex & the City, M*A*S*H, all the faves!

Gossip Girl did have a show last night but it was a rerun and not the good kind of Rerun, like the one from What’s Happening? It was the one about the end of summer. PUH LEEZE Gossip Girl. We know none of those plots matter anymore. So, instead I watched a movie starring Jesse Eisenberg and Carter Baizen that was directed by Fred Durst. Just k’ing! I watched movie trailers.

Sadie Hawkins Dance! In my khaki pants! The girls ask the guys! It’s always a surprise!

It’s nice to see Kaitlin Olson from It’s Always Sunny in Philadephia taking on the new role of “Best Friend in a RomCom.” You need sass for it, and I think she has sufficient sass. Also, I know this is the magic of movies, but between the earrings gag (“Keep your ears warm”?) and the fact that he is Adam Scott (no offense to Adam Scott, it’s just he often plays assholes) I don’t think that things are going to work out for his character. But O Valencia! (instrumental) rocking, shennagans happening, superstition, happenstance, TRUELOVE! Also, I hope that the end of the movie is paced exactly like in this trailer. Adam Scott, just walking over, proposing, Ozymandias looking mopey.

Also

Amanda Seyfried only takes two roles. The first role she takes is high school students in uncommon high school stories and the second role she takes is anything shooting in magnificent locales with ABBA songs. Probably. I like how this movie flips everything OUT OF CONTROL. She has the handsome, dashing, foreign boyfriend but she wants the other handsome, stuffy, foreign guy! Take that preconceived notions! However, I feel like its a cop out to use the Rock Remix of “Love Story” because someone spent a lot of time playing the banjos on the regular “Love Story.”

Julie & Julia stars actresses Meryl Streep and Amy Adams in two different stories that coincide with one another. Meryl Streep plays Julia Child a woman who’s cook book changed the way that Americans eat, and Amy Adams plays Julie Powell a woman who decides to spend an entire year cooking every recipe in Julia Child’s cookbook and then blogging about it each day.

I have to say that I was torn on whether or not this was going to be a good movie or not, the preview did not really leave much to the imagination for me. I then went to a late night showing of the movie with my very loving girlfriend who really wanted to see this movie. I really was not expecting to get much out of this movie but I was proven wrong. The movie turned out to be a well served dish.

The performance of Meryl Streep as Julia Child was brilliant to say the least and I would say is one of the first performances I could confidentially say in 2009 deserves consideration for an Oscar nomination. There is still plenty of time and plenty of movies to be arriving before nominations but Meryl Streep I would say will definitely be getting considered at the least.

The movie goes back and forth giving us an insight into the life of Julia Child herself, and then returning remarkably back to Julie Powell and her cooking adventure.

Julia & Julia is not by any means going to be the best movie of 2009, nor will it even come close but the heart of the movie is in the right place and the acting of Meryl Streep put this movie in the category of well worth watching. I would say even to the skeptics who view this as being a movie that will bore them to just reconsider and allow yourself to watch this surprise hit.

Julie & Julia will leave most viewers quite satisfied and some will even be calling for seconds on viewing the movie. I say if you have not yet seen this movie then take the time out to do so, you will not be let down.

My Rating: 75%

Ódivatú, idealisztikus boldogság, ami néha annyira hiányzik a ma nőinek.
Ebben a történetben tulajdonkébben minden a munka mögé szorul.

I was looking up Edward Cullen on Wikipedia and I saw that it said that Edward was a Byronic hero. Because of that, I clicked on the link that explained what a Byronic hero was. Anyway, as I was reading the characteristics, it did sounds like Edward As I continued down the website, it mentioned that Lestat from the Vampire Chronicles and the Phantom from the Phantom of the Opera were Byronic heros as well, but I digress with the Phantom. That made me think about how much Lestat and Edward were alike in the sense that they are both Byronic heros. I think that’s the reason why I don’t like either character. I mean, it’s not that I hate them, but it’s just that they’re not my favorites characters from their respective series. Anyway, I think that’s the reason why I don’t like Lestat and Edward is the fact that they’re Byronic heros.

In my search for any Lestat vs. Edward stuff, I found quite a few pictures that made fun of Edward and the Twilight series or making fun of the fact the Twilight series “outshines” the Vampire Chronicles. The one that I found to be the most funny was the one where it showed Edward and Bella together in the first box, and the following three boxes showing Louis, Lestat, and Armand telling their opinions on the series. I found that Lestat’s and Armand’s reactions to be the most funny. Their reactions were classic Lestat and Armand. Anyway, the next one that I thought was funny was the one where Lestat as picking on Edward. I just found those funny.

I was bored recently and was on my computer I don’t know why but I typed Lestat vs. Edward into Google to see what I would get. Anyway, a lot of stuff that popped up were drawings of people making fun of Edward through Lestat’s point of view, and videos and articles asking who would win in a no-holds bar fight. I immediately thought that Lestat would definitely win. I say that because, after looking up their powers as a refresher, while Edward has super strength, super speed, and can read minds, Lestat can do or has all of that, plus so much more. Lestat also has pyrokinesis, the ability to fly, and he’s telekinetic. Plus, he killed an entire wolf pack by himself, albeit with the help of his two mastiff dogs. Anyway, I really think that Lestat would definitely win the fight against Edward, and that’s assuming Lestat doesn’t fall in love with Edward first, which I doubt would actually happen, and that Lestat doesn’t hurt Bella.

First of all, I love Meryl Streep (Julia); she’s an amazing actress, good or evil she’s still on top

First of all, I love Meryl Streep (Julia); she’s an amazing actress, good or evil she’s still on top. Stanley Tucci plays her lovely husband and they are great together. And they speak perfect French, I was amazed!

The movie wasn’t really about Julia, the courageous woman passionate about life and food; but more about the self-centered and helpless Julie. Now Julie has a problem. Beside pronouncing boeuf as « boof » which shows her narrow mind ; her job is crap and she has the most amazing husband you can possibly imagine. She likes to talk about her crappy job a lot, complain to everyone, play the victim and they all console her. Her husband is so nice he wants to help with a great idea: why not having a blog on cooking because she’s good at it? So she decided to set “herself” some goals and blog about how she will make the 524 recipes of Julia in 365 days… At this moment, it sounded a good idea.

She didn’t do it for herself; she complained all the way that nobody reads her blog and how unhappy that makes her but she still has to keep going “for her people”. She even envies her colleague who blogs like Belle de Jour…… Husband still comprehensive and wonderful. Eventually people start reading; well they made it a movie now! At the end she feels she achieved something after days trying to hook up people on how it’s hard to debone a duck.

This goes against so many of my principles that I had to share.

When did people start to think “why not making a blog, I’m gonna be famous!”? Who thought that once you write something on the web, billions of others are going to worship it? Seriously? I mean, it’s still the same folks you talk to in the street, but on a larger scale! And this is the next generation according to Hollywood? A bunch of lost lazy kids that just put their next impulse on the web (yeah, Julie nearly get fired, she said she called in sick but the time under the post doesn’t lie…).
Some do it, don’t get me wrong; it’s exactly like in real life except they think it doesn’t count coz it’s online. Some others see it as an opportunity of mass collaboration, a platform where you can get what you need from people who’ve been there. This is what it should be, by the people for the people; not fame and glitter (which you can achieve without talent or blog by the way, it’s called reality tv…)

So I thought I’d help out and I am now a proud editor of WikiHow. I categorize, write, add videos or images to posts I know a bit about. It’s simple, doesn’t take me a lot of time and makes me less stupid every day. I get that it may not going to change climate change tomorrow…but Rome wasn’t built in a day
