גילינו מה קורה כשבירת הפסטה פוגשת את Crowded House …וכצפוי היה דביק  כשמר Antonello Venditti ביצע את Don’t Dream it’s over שגם ככה היה מתקתק!

No se pudo pedir más. Aranda de Duero, la “pequeña” ciudad burgalesa de unos 40.000 habitantes no decepcionó. Sonorama Ribera 09 volvió a defender el panorama indie español, donde Vetusta Morla fueron, sin duda alguna, los grandes triunfadores del festival.

Con tan sólo echar un vistazo a la zona de acampada el viernes por la tarde se podía saborear lo que estaba esperando la gente: “lo, lo, lo..” esa melodía final pegadiza de Saharabbey Road. Desde una hora antes del concierto la gente ya se comenzaba a preparar para ver a los chicos de Tres Cantos que tanto esfuerzo invirtieron por hacer despegar su carrera musical. El año pasado tocaron en el escenario centro de la Plaza del Trigo, pero el clamor de la gente les ha llevado hasta el escenario principal, donde sin ningún atisbo de grandeza tocaron como siempre lo han hecho, y como todos deseamos que lo sigan haciendo, llenos de energía.

La, en teoría, cabeza de cartel para el viernes Amy MacDonald, quedó relegada a un segundo plano, pero no se la puede menospreciar ya que los fieles que la estuvieron escuchando estaban tan involucrados con su This is the life como con cualquier otro artista.

Una de tantas cosas buenas que tiene Sonorama es que el jueves, gratuito y primer día de festival, es tan bueno como lo pueden ser el viernes o el sábado. LePunk, Cristina Rosegvinge, Manos de Topo y De Pedro hicieron de este jueves un día tan bueno como pudo ser el viernes o sábado. Además, Kiko Veneno demostró todo su arte con su échate un cancecito.

El sábado siempre tiene un sabor especial, y es que el buen ambiente creado por la organización del festival se suma al cansancio acumulado en los dos primeros días, y es que desde que en 1998 Sonorama arrancara con su primera edición ha mantenido siempre su sello particular.

Aranda de Duero, cuna del Ribera del Duero y de las bodegas castellanas, ofrece en distintas bodegas de la localidad, gratis y durante toda la mañana del sábado vasos de vino tinto, con pinchos de chorizo y morcilla. Además la gente sigue disfrutando cada año, cuando el clima lo permite, del chapuzón vespertino en las piscinas Acapulco. Este año la gente se lanzaba a bomba a ritmo del “bombas bombas” de Chimo Bayo, quién la noche anterior repasó todos sus grandes éxitos consiguiendo que el sábado sólo se escuchara su “Hu ha” por toda la zona de acampada.

The Sunday Drivers, La Habitación Roja, Ojo con la Mala, Catpeople y Second fueron los grandes nombres del último día de festival. Pero no podemos obviar a la gran sorpresa de este día, K Skas. Este grupo arandino obtuvo el premio de tocar, aunque fuera a las 19:00 horas, dentro del festival en el escenario Ribera, tras ganar el concurso de bandas de la ciudad. Con mucho calor y bajo un sol de justicia abrieron la última jornada de festival e hicieron disfrutar con su particular ritmo a los valientes que se acercaron para verlos bajo un sol asfixiante

Como novedad para este año se instaló un tercer escenario, Future Stars, que como su propio nombre indicá, fue la oportunidad que el Sonorama brindó a “grupos menores” para que se dieran a conocer al gran público. Esta oportunidad no la desaprovecharon grupos como El Alpinista, Mi pequeña radio, Alex Ferreira o Estereotypo, estos últimos repetían en el Sonorama tras proclamarse el año pasado ganadores del concurso de maquetas del festival, galardón que este año ganó el grupo Mañana

Despite Noel Gallagher’s well-publicized differences with his brother and Oasis bandmate Liam Gallagher, I was in stunned disbelief when I read the news earlier tonight that Noel Gallagher has decided to quit Oasis. In a brief statement on the Oasis Web site, Noel said:

“It’s with some sadness and great relief to tell you that I quit Oasis tonight. People will write and say what they like, but I simply could not go on working with Liam a day longer.

“Apologies to all the people who bought tickets for the shows in Paris, Konstanz and Milan.”

The Gallagher brothers both attended the Manchester City soccer match last weekend, but apparently were not seated together.

There have been reports of trouble between the Gallagher brothers on the current Oasis tour. They reportedly were not speaking and would only see each other on stage. I saw their show at Madison Square Garden in New York City last December. The show wasn’t particularly good, as it lacked the fire of past Oasis performances I had seen. But I also saw both of Oasis’ stellar concerts at New York City’s Beacon Theatre in 2002. Noel’s solo acoustic version of “Wonderwall” at one of those shows was one of the best things I’ve ever seen on a concert stage. Their Madison Square Garden show in the summer of 2005 was also excellent.

Oasis cancelled a performance in Paris last night at the last minute, with the promoters citing an altercation within the band. The Scottish singer Amy Macdonald, who was also on the bill of the Paris show, apparently witnessed the altercation and wrote on her Twitter page, “Oasis cancelled again with one minute to stage time! Liam smashed Noel’s guitar, huuuge fight!” Last weekend, Oasis cancelled their scheduled performance at the V Festival in Chelmsford, England, citing Liam’s laryngitis. Was it laryngitis? Or was there another fight?

Noel Gallagher had talked about making a solo album after the conclusion of the current Oasis tour. When and if that release materializes, I’m sure it will get quite a bit of attention. But if Oasis is well and truly finished, what will become of Liam Gallagher’s music career? While Liam has been writing some of Oasis’ songs, the vast majority of the band’s hit songs were penned by Noel.

I do hope that Noel and Liam can patch up their differences and carry on as Oasis. If not, we still have the music. A lot of that music, particularly the early stuff, is spectacular.

O Oasis pode ter acabado. Noel Gallagher, guitarrista (agora ex) da banda, deixou a banda antes de um show em Paris, nesta noite. O show da banda foi cancelado, assim como a tour.

Segundo a cantora Amy Macdonald, que se apresentaria antes da banda, disse que houve uma grande briga no backstage, e que Liam (vocalista da banda e irmão de Noel) teria destruído a guitarra de Noel (ai, que dó…).

Estou surpreso que isso não tenha acontecido antes. É sabido que Liam e Noel não se falam e suportam. Vivem se detonando em público e pela imprensa.

Quem sabe agora Noel forme uma banda melhor… pra mim, ele era a cabeça pensante na banda.

A Escócia estará em festa durante todo o ano de 2009. É o Homecoming Scotland 2009, um programa com mais de 300 eventos inspirados em temas como Whisky, Golfe e Robert Burns (o maior poeta escocês), veja o trailer de divulgação do evento:

Além deste belo trailer, os promotores do vento produziram um comercial para a televisão (veja abaixo) com a nata das celebridades escocesas como Brian Cox, Chris Hoy, Amy MacDonald, Lulu, Kelly Brown, Thom Evans e Sean Connery (que não mora na Escócia há quase 50 anos). As personalidades convidam os turistas a visitar a Escócia neste ano ao som de Caledonia, uma canção do folclore moderno escocês, escrita por Dougie MacLean (que também está no comercial) em 1979, fala de uma pessoa que sente saudades de sua terra natal, bem no espírito do Homecoming

Como pano de fundo, alguns dos mais emblemáticos cartões-postais do país, a exemplo do Castelo de Edimburgo e do Centro de Ciências de Glasgow.

O Homecoming encerra no dia 30 de novembro, Dia de St. Andrews, o padroeiro da Escócia.

Zu den Gewinnern des Jahres 2008 gehören eine Menge mehr oder weniger talentierter junger Künstlerinnen. Unter den talentierten erscheint zuerst Aimee Ann Duffy nennenswert und knapp dahinter folgt Amy MacDonald. Mit einem guten halben Jahr Verspätung gelangte ihr Debüt „This Is The Life“ auf den deutschen Markt, und es dauerte danach immer noch eine Weile, bis der Titeltrack die Charts eroberte und sich in den Ohren festsaugte. Von den einen als neue Katie Melua, von den anderene als neue KT Tunstall beschrieben, präsentiert Amy MD leicht zugängliche Ohrwürmer, die berühren, weder Radio- noch Indie-Publikum beleidigen und in einem ursprünglich britisch poppigen Folk wurzeln.

Letzteres rechtfertigt die Tunstall-Vergleiche, doch übertrifft MacDonalds Erfolg den Tunstalls zumindest hierzulande deutlich. Inspiriert von Travis, R.E.M., Gary Jules’ „Mad World“-Cover, den Libertines und Besuchen bei T in the Park heißen ihre Lieder einen mit offenen Armen willkommen in einer polierten, Cranberries-esken Folk-Musik, wärmen einen, wie es das Eintreten in einen gemütlichen Pub mit Live-Musik an einem tristen Dezembertag tut. Pubpop, Pubfolk, Pubrock, Feierabendmusik zur Begleitung des Feierabendbiers findet sich auf „This Is The Life“. Einfach, harmlos und wider besseres Wissen begeisternd, mischt Amy MacDonald melancholische Naivität mit überraschender Altersweisheit.

Ihre Texte bieten genügend Spielraum, um 16- bis 60jährige sich darin wieder finden zu lassen, die Refrains brennen sich schnell genug ein, um sie für sich oder in der Masse mitzusingen. Perfekte Voraussetzungen für Erfolg. Musikalisch untermalt von einfachen, wieder erkennbaren und doch eigenen Melodien, umgesetzt durch Akustikgitarre und professionelle Produktion voller Streicher und (Mariachi-)Bläser („Let’s Start A Band“), braucht es nur noch eine charismatische, unverwechselbare Vortragsweise, um die westliche Welt zu erobern. Letztere besitzt Amy MacDonald ohne Zweifel. Kräftig und klar, den schottischen Akzent mühsam kaschierend, trällert und trillert sie an Dolores O’Riordan erinnernd auf eigene, rhythmisch punktierte Art und Weise.

„This Is The Life“ gewinnt durch und leidet unter seiner Einheitlichkeit. Einfach durchzuhören und durchgängig gefallend bleibt zu wenig dauerhaft hängen. Nahezu elf Ohrwürmer, aber kaum etwas, das genauer hinhören lässt. Allerdings ist das kaum ein Nachteil für ein Album, sieht man es als Pub-Ohrwurm-Versorgung. Gleich zu Beginn gewinnen – nach nervigstem allererstem Takt – die Radio-Hymnen „Mr. Rock & Roll“ und „This Is The Life“, denen sich im weiteren Verlaufs „Poison Prince“, „A Wish For Something More“ und „Barrowland Ballroom“ hinzugesellen, wogegen „Footballer’s Wife“ oder „L.A.“ die langweiligere Seite der Schönheit dieses Albums repräsentieren. „This Is The Life“ ist ein bombastisch produziertes, dennoch einfaches, rundum gutes Pop-Albums, das viel Potential offenbart, viele Entwicklungsmöglichkeiten offen lässt und die Frage aufwirft, warum nicht mehr „kleine“ „…“-Mädchen (siehe Abbildungen im Booklet“) so gelungene Musik spielen und schreiben können.
