We posted before that An Cafe will be going on “hiatus” (well the term we used is ‘quits’) after their Nippon Budokan live on 1/4/2010.

Well before that the band will release one more album, a best of album to be exact. As for the title of the album they will use their original name “Antic -coffee shop-“. The album will include their singles, songs performed at their pervious shows and some ‘rare’, un-published songs. The album will also be 2-disc, 15 songs each. First press (limited edition) will include a sleeve (slip case).

In 2010 they will also release an official artist book “NYAPPYBOOK“. The book will come with a DVD that has 100 minute movie of An Cafe and an original tote bag enclosed.

Their agency, Sinko Music will start taking pre-order via web on 11/16.

And if you didn’t know, An Cafe will also be featured in SHOXX magazine’s “SHOXX FILE”.

Well….Ontem (Sim. Ontem, como bulhufas iria eu postar sem energia…) foi um dia um tanto quanto tenso.

Não trabalhei ontem, pois minha turma de terças e quintas se formou (THANK GOD!) e agora estou livre , só trabalho dois dias na semana (Sim, sou um vagabundo empregado…), mas isso não vem ao caso agora.

Depois de um dia literalmente á toa, cujo não fiz nada, pois estava á toa (Usava muito dessa encheção de lingüiça em redações da escola).

Sem mais delongas, como de costume anoiteceu, estava eu no PC para variar, conversando com meus “amigueeeeeeeeenhos”, e depois de muito papo lembrei que havia baixado um Dvd (Me processem…¬¬”) do An Cafe, em seguida resolvi assisti-lo, passados 1h mais ou menos, estava eu todo meninão, feliz, alegre e contente, quando derrepente sem precedentes, o que chamamos de luz simplesmente se afugentou para o Limbo.

No momento pensei “SANTA MÃE DO CÈU BATIMAH!”, corri para desligar as tomadas e em seguida fui para o lugar de onde mágicamente se descobre o tamanho do problema, aqui nós chamamos de “janela”. Olhando ao redor, avistei que não havia luz em lugar algum envolta de nosso pequeno vilarejo. Pois bem fui procurar velas com a luz do celular me auxiliando, minha sorte foi ter carregado o próprio alguns minutos antes do “Apagão”; achadas as velas, tudo certo, pouco tempo depois recebo uma ligação de meu Tio que carinhosamente chamo de “Tio”, e conta que soube por fontes não muito confiáveis que a falta de energia estava se estendendo até lá Acarí e ainda até Copacabana,o mesmo nos deu a idéia de usar um radio á pilhas para ouvir o que estava rolando por ai.

Impressionante como radinhos podem ser úteis nessas horas… Bem, achado o radinho meu papai que muito carinhosamente chamo de “Pai” (com um tom bem másculo na voz), sintonizou em estações AM que curiosamente estavam passando jogos de futebol e noticias ao mesmo tempo. Entre vários gritos de “PRA FOOOOOOORAAAAAAAA” ou “UHHHHHHHHHHH”, o gentil locutor resolveu atender ligações de ouvintes; os mesmo ligavam de todo o país, e cada vez que um ligava dava pra se ter idéia do tamanho da falta de energia, foi realmente uma coisa absurda.

Depois de saber que metade do país estava no escuro (Dizem por ai que Escuro é um negão de 2m que costuma plantar mandioca no quintal alheio, muito cuidado!), fui relaxar um pouco olhando para o breu na janela.

Aprendi que com a falta de luz, pessoas mesmo que só conhecidos que não fazem questão nenhuma de ligar uma para a outra quando há luz, na ausência se comunicam pela janela aos gritos, e conversam sobre qualquer coisa, seja particular ou não. Muito provável ouvir conversas do tipo:

- Geraldão ?

- Menina ! É um cavalo!!!!

- É mesmo menina?

- Nossa!!!! Ele puxa o remo na cachoeira como ninguém!!

Provavelmente estavam falando sobre um cavalo cujo sonho é ser remador profissional, pelo menos espero que seja isso…..

Uma dica, ser for mais de 1h da madruga não grite, pois os vizinhos começaram a gritar também, e com um bocado de ódio no coração, por você não os deixar dormir, e pode resultar em morte por plantação de vegetais africanos.

Ps: Não, eu não conheço o escuro e nem quero conhecer…

An Cafe (or Antic Cafe) (アンティック－珈琲店－（カフェ）, Antique Cafe ) is a Japanese dance/rock band formed in 2003 and signed to the independent label Loop Ash. They have been described as an oshare kei band, a subset of visual kei; however, they refer themselves to Visual Kei. As of their formation, the group has released four full-length albums and two EPs.

History

An Cafe was formed in May 2003 with Miku, Kanon and Bou who would later be joined by Teruki after leaving his former band, Feathers-Blue. The band played live shows for their first year, without any releases.

In 2004, After their PMC failed to gain a strong foothold, An Cafe released their first demos and signed a record deal with Loop Ash. Their first release, “Candyholic” was released in March and reached the second spot on the Oricon indies single chart. The band continued touring and releasing, including their first album, Shikisai Moment in 2005. The band released even more singles in 2006 until their second studio album, Magnya Carta (a play on “Magna Carta”).

In 2007, the band announced their first overseas appearance at Project A-Kon. The announcement of this was followed shortly by the departure of guitarist, Bou. The last performance with Bou was on April 30, 2007, and was featured in a DVD titled Hibiya On ☆The☆ 0 New Sekai. After Bou left the band, two new members were announced: Takuya was to replace Bou as the guitarist and Yuuki was to join An Cafe as a keyboardist. The first single with their new lineup was announced as “Kakusei Heroism” followed by “Ryuusei Rocket”. In the end of 2007, An Cafe announced their first overseas tour, taking place in Europe in 2008.

In the opening weeks of 2008, An Cafe announced their upcoming single, “Cherry Saku Yuuki!!” in February, as well as their next studio album, Gokutama Rock Cafe, which was released on April 9, 2008.

An Cafe’s latest EP, Harajuku Dance Rock, was released on March 13, 2009.

They have also announced an upcoming 4th album, entitled “”BB Parallel World”, which is set to be released in Japan on September 9, 2009, and in Europe on October 2, 2009. It will contain the title tracks of singles “Aroma”, “Summer Dive” and “Natsu Koi ★ Natsu GAME”, as well as eight other songs.

In 2010, it has been confirmed that An Cafe will be taking a break from activities. It is yet unknown as to how long they will be on hiatus for, but they have not stated they will be disbanding. The message, issued on their official homepage, claims that “after the Budokan show, each member will concentrate on their own activity to be prepared for the band to restart in the future.” The aformentioned Nippon Budokan show takes place on January 4th, 2010.

Equipment

Yuuki (keyboards) uses a Korg X50 and a Yamaha MO6 in a firm Ultimate AX48B rack. His speaker is a Roland Jazz-Chorus 120 and he has a Mackie 1202-VLZ PRO mixing panel as well. A lot of functions are used, for instance the excessive use of pitch bend in Respect Mommy on the Yamaha MO6 and the use of his arpeggiator (on the Yamaha MO6 as well) in Cherry Saku Yuuki!!.

Takuya (guitar) uses a White-brown Fender, a Paul Reed Smith, a G&L Telecaster, a Dean and some stompboxes, including the Boss Super Chorus and MXR/Phase 90.

Kanon (bass) uses two kinds of Fender Jazz Bass’es, a EBS/Multi Comp and a Basson speaker.

Teruki (drums) has the following setup: one Splash Cymbal (Paiste 10″), two Crash Cymbals (Paiste 16″ and 18″) Cymbals, one China Cymbal (Paiste 18″), one Ride Cymbal (Zild jan 20″), one Hi-Hat (Zild jan 14″), one Hi-Hat stand (Pearl), a Bass Drum (Pearl 22″ x 16″), a Snare (Pearl 14″ x 5,5″), one Mid Tom (Pearl 12″ x 8″), one Floor Tom (Pearl 16″ x 16″), two Pedals (Pearl) and Behringer amplification

Endorsements

An Cafe has been a long time supporter and endorser of popular Japanese fashion label Sex Pot Revenge, and they are frequently seen wearing clothing from that label. They have appeared on the cover of Sex Pot Revenge free company magazine, V!nyl Syndicate.

In 2008, An Cafe vocalist Miku hosted Volume 2 of Visual Kei DVD Magazine alongside the magazine’s mascot, Biju.

International recognition

An Cafe has gained great success in Japan. It has also gained moderate success in Europe, mainland Asia (Korea, China), Argentina, Brazil, Canada and the United States.

In 2008, the band visited Finland, Sweden, Germany, France, the UK, Spain, the US and Korea on their first overseas tour, 「Live Cafe-Tour ‘08 – Nyappy Go Around World」. They played a total of twelve concerts in the eight countries.

As of November 2008, An Cafe confirmed an overseas tour, 「LIVE CAFE TOUR’09 NYAPPY GO AROUND THE WORLD Ⅱ -Harajuku Dance Rock Night-」 which encompassed twelve countries: Russia, Finland, Sweden, Germany, the UK, France, Spain, Argentina, Chile, Brazil, Mexico and the USA. This tour took place over March and April, playing a total of 17 dates.

Antic Cafe, o simplemente, An Cafe, es un grupo japonés formado por 5 miembros: Miku, Takuya, Kanon, Yuuki y Teruki.

Están considerados oshare kei pero ellos se definen como una banda de estilo de Harajuku. Tocan rock bailable con diferentes variantes ( pueden pasar de canciones muy rockeras a otras mas dance, poperas…). Estan dentro del Visual Kei, pero también son aceptados por los fans del J-pop. A parte de llamar la atención por su música tan peculiar, también influyen mucho los miembros y su peculiar forma de vestir. Cada uno es esencial, imprescindible y diferente, pero todos juntos hacen creer en el espíritu nyappy.

Nyappy es una palabra creada por An Cafe, que suele tener varios significados. Sinceramente, me gusta mucho. Mis preferidas son Nyappy in the parareru world, Alone y Ichigo. Lástima que hay tantos singles (Aroma, Summer Dive, My heart leaps for “C” y Natsu Koi Natsu Game). Me hubiera gustado poder oir más canciones nuevas, y más sabiendo ahora que se darán un parón…

In an attempt to make more regular columns on J-Rock Explosion, Random J-Rock Updates returns!  I’ll probably be doing this every Wednesday from now on, starting the Wednesday after next Wednesday.  I compile these mainly from myspace Activity Stream and bulletins, sometimes there’s nothing to report for days.  I’ve also added a new feature to this column, Myspace Band of the Week.  This is a band that randomly added me on myspace or vice versa and doesn’t suck.  These are mostly small bands that don’t have any music videos for me to show off for J-Rock Fridays.  There’s probably more words in this paragraph than the actual news, but go on…

I have been reliving my otaku nerves several weeks ago for I had long given them up. My mom doesn’t support me when it comes to this matter, thus even how much I loved cosplay, she would tell me, “you look weird or crazy” and bad stuff that surely won’t make you feel good. Anyway, so some weeks ago, I went on watching anime in my fave site and searched for some anime. And btw, I organized my anime list by categorizing themes. Although I haven’t watched some, reviews I read and some stuff I heard from others convinced my taste so I guess I’d love them then.

My reason of the title is that I have been watching maria holic for some time and I was thinking that maria was actually patterned to bou! The hair. . . and the fact that he’s a crossdressing, cute boy. It’s also probably because I miss him though. I tried to research, and I think I am the only person claiming this. Anyway, an cafe started at 2003 and Maria+Holic started at 2006, which makes it quite believable that maria was actually based from bou. Besides, 2006 was the year[of course I would never ever forget] bou left an cafe for unknown, personal reasons[ T.T I downloaded the "bou last live" concert and watched it again and again. Huwaa cant still get over him].

Oh I love maria shido.

So we found some funny, yet true fan secrets of JPop and KPop and thought we’d share with you all. Why? Because we either fully or partially agree with these. Plus they’re funny. Enjoy.

I still can’t get over TOP and the Jimmy Fallon. That is just too classic for words. And that last one of the J-Rock musicians, really? None of my guy friends, even the Japanese musicians do that with their friends. Fail.

A banda An Cafe anunciou em seu site oficial na segunda-feira que eles estarão suspendendo suas atividades ano que vem. O último show deles será no dia 04 de janeiro de 2010, no Nippon Budokan.

De acordo com a mensagem, houveram muitas discussões entre os membros da banda e o staff e foi decidido que os membros gostariam de ter um tempo para se dedicar às suas próprias atividades e se preparar para uma eventual retomada da banda. Entretanto, a duração da suspensão é indeterminada.

Formada em 2003, a banda tem popularidade não só no Japão, mas também no exterior. Eles já fizeram diversas performances nos Estados Unidos e pela Europa.
