ANAHEIM (CBSLA.com) — A paroled suspect described as armed and dangerous finally surrendered to police Saturday after being holed up inside an Anaheim hotel room for more than eight hours.

Anaheim police Sgt. Bob Dunn says the suspect, now identified as 51-year-old Steven Fishel of Huntington Beach, had been holed up inside a second-story room, since about 10 a.m. Saturday.

The incident was reported at the Ramada Inn in the 2100 block of South Harbor Boulevard. The hotel is located about two blocks from Disneyland.

At least one SWAT team was called to the scene.

Anaheim Police Deputy Chief Raul Quezada said Fishel ultimately just gave up. “He surrendered after negotiations with our personnel,” said Quezada.

During the standoff, the hotel was evacuated, according to CBS2 and KCAL9 reporter Greg Mills. “The Ramada and at least two hotels on either side had also been evacuated,” he reported.

Witnesses told police that the suspect was holed up with two adult women. Later reports said the females were the suspect’s girlfriend and her daughter.

Police came to take the parolee into custody. Mills says they talked to the man briefly and he bolted back inside his room and locked the door.

They say the man was previously wanted for an assault with a deadly weapon charge.

Police say he will be booked on several charges including suspicion of violating his parole, as well as an assault with a deadly weapons violation that occurred in San Diego County last month.

Authorities said Fishel was taken to the hospital before being booked to deal with a pre-existing medical condition.

Of course the boys want to start at Disneyland so after much trolling the internet and with some help from our travel agent and friends, we have decided to stay at the Howard Johnson aka Ho Jo (which makes me laugh for reasons that only some people will understand every time I say it).  It looks very cool and we decided on it because of the POOL (well waterpark actually), across the road from Disneyland and they make mini mouse pancakes for breakfast. In LAX, we will probably end up finding some where cheap just before departure so long as it has a pool and then in New York we are looking at around Times Sq but for cost reasons, we cannot afford right on Times Sq so any suggestions???

As I said we are so lucky that Alcy and Bill are going to be let us sleep at their house in DC so we will be staying in Virginia.  When I lived with them, I remember the woods in the summer and walking home from the train via them and being slightly wary of foxes.  Since it will be freezing cold in  November, I guess we are going to be more concerned about the cold not the animals.  I hope Alcy and Bill are ready for 2 boys to invade their home.  One who only eats mac cheese and nutri-grain and the other who eats well but loves chocolate and butter chicken….no pressure!  Maybe they will find some new foods to enjoy.
