Well, not really, but they were still ringing by the time I went to the MastoKlok Con Fire tour a few nights later. As somebody in some writeup of Eyehategod’s return to the Middle East in Cambridge on Oct. 25, “I was happy to see that the club was zero percent hipster and 100 percent scumbag.” Yes, what a blessing indeed.

My experience with the Nahlins wreckin’ crew has been limited to some post-bar blackout-drunk listening sessions and a brief period when I was 14 and couldn’t quite grasp their druggy atmosphere. I went for the awesomeness of Goatwhore, the novelty of Anal Cunt, and because nothing else was happening that particular Sunday night.

So as an EHG-neutral attendee, I can report that it was awesome. They played their hits “That Slow One,” “The Slower One,” and “Sister Fucker.” I’ll be gosh darned if I could hum you back even one of their songs, but the vibe was killer. The crowd was like one big drug-addled organism. The band looks like they’ve done as many drugs in person as they do in pictures (except Jimmy Bower, who looks like he’s eaten more chicken wings up close than he did on the big stage at the House of Blues). The sheer volume really made their set awesome for me, and I left with the satisfied feeling you get when your whole body has been vibrating for an hour.

Goatwhore, the real reason I went, were fantastic. Just great. So many raised fists in the crowd. Like I said about Behemoth when I saw them in August, these guys are a like fucking steamroller right now. They’re much tighter, much more confident than they were when I saw them a few years back, after A Haunting Curse came out. I was lukewarm about Carving Out The Eyes of God before, and now I’m all about it.

My only regret about Goatwhore that night was that I failed in my quest to get Sammy Duet to autograph this picture of himself:

I had the copy of Decibel on me and everything, I just couldn’t sack up enough to do it after he gave me the Satan stare and shoved his guitar in my face. He ruled.

Lightning Round about the other bands:

Speaking of Satan stares, Seth Putnam gave me the stink eye just for recognizing him at his own merch table. What he was so angry about, I can only guess, but it might be because he’s still alive. Anal Cunt was a fucking joke–an amusing joke–but a total fucking joke, as they always have been. Also, heroin is bad for you.

Strong Intention played. They are a hardcore band. That’s about all I have to say about that.

Howl was cool. I liked their riff (zing! But I actually do really like them). They don’t have the stage presence or confidence to be a marquis band yet, but I think it’ll get there. I think a bunch of the songs they played are going to be on their full-length, which I believe is due early next year. Get excited, cheah!

Nå ser det ut til at Ottar har ordnet Anal Cunt til Bergen også. Fin anledning til å promotere en grindcore-favoritt fra Bergen.

Man kan si mye om Haggis, men det skal de ha: pønk-Norge hadde vært mye fattigere uten. De siste årene har bandet dratt band som Total Chaos, Toy Dolls, Exploited, Anti-Nowhere League, etc. Og nå altså Anal Cunt. Stas. 2. oktober spiller de på Garage.

AC er ikke lenger det samme bandet jeg opprinnelig falt for, de har for eksempel begynt med riff og slikt. Personlig savner jeg det komplette kaoset i musikken, men skal bli artig å høre.

Dessverre er ikke bergensbandet Slaxxmaal aktive lenger, skulle gjerne sett dem varme opp. Sist gang jeg så dem var på Stavanger Punkrockfestival, det året da ValenTourettes dro en gjenforening som etter sigende skulle være den første og siste – noensinne. Et engangstilfelle som har kjørt i reprise helt siden da.

Men. Dette skulle egentlig handle om grind/hardcore og Slaxxmaal. Jeg husker hvordan bandet gikk på scenen (Knut fra Beinkjør spilte bass) og slo publikum i bakken med sine femsekunderslåter. Pønkerne rakk aldri å poge før låtene var over.

Sjekk også ut noen låter på bandet hjemmeside. Noen må fikse en gjenforening. AC’s Seth Putnam kom tilbake fra en måned i koma etter en overdose, og spiller fremdeles. Da må vel Slaxxmaal kunne klare en liten gig de også.

“Impaled Northern Moonforest is the “brainchild” of Anal Cunt members Josh Martin and Seth Putnam. At three o’clock one frostbitten morning of 1997 they were bored and decided to make a true (joke) Norwegian style black metal band. However, there was someone sleeping nearby so they couldn’t use an electric guitar or drum kit, so they used an acoustic guitar with Seth slapping his knees and a mattress for percussion. 

Anyway, here are some random facts about Impaled Northern Moonforest:

They have never practised, as practising is for posers 
There are no known photos of them recording or performing (that was intentional) 
The creative process involved in thinking up song titles involved “thinking of dumb sounding names we thought would fit into that whole black metal thing” 
There are no real lyrics except for the occasional “Satan” or some other blasphemous inverted word 
Impaled Northern Moonforest have played between 5 and 10 shows, all taking place in the Boston area, Rhode Island, Colorado and Japan. There are no plans for any new shows, but plans aren’t usually made for new shows (they just happen). 
Only 200 copies were made of their first album. This is because they were under the impression that no more than 4 or so people would buy a copy. When I emailed him about this, Seth (the singer) said that at first he thought that 200 copies was too many 
Seth doesn’t actually listen to much black metal, or know much about it except that he doesn’t like most black metal bands that have been around since the mid 1980s onwards. 
There are no plans for a full length album, and it is very unlikely (yet still possible) that one will be made. “I can’t imagine anyone wanting to hear a full length I.N.M. record, or I can’t imagine us wanting to record that much. Anything’s possible though” writes Seth. 
Seth was really helpful when I was making this site 
The song titles on the self titled album are completely different to the original titles. Seth “lost the original demo cover like a moron” (his words). As a result, he often loses sleep knowing that such avant garde brutality is forever lost. There were a couple of copies of the demo with the original cover sold. If you own a copy of this demo please get in contact with Seth (just click the contact picture on the left) 
All the songs were improvised – singing, guitar and knee slapping. Tabs are not available. Josh has this to say about tabs: “Sorry but there are no INM tabs. Obviously that would be impossible. Even if I could tab the songs out, the evilness of the riffs would cause the paper to crumble into the very depths of Hell.” 
Seth has written a song title that contains about 10 variants of the word “Abazagorath” (such as Abazagoration, Abazagorizing etc.) and will give it to me for the site when he finds it. 
In the first song (Grim and Frostbitten Moongoats of the North), you can hear Seth coughing. It was from a cold he got while doing something scary in the inverted northernmost necroforest of a;kjsdhfyoagtaffffzz 
Impaled Northern Moonforest has generated a bit of interest, with a “pretty decent amount” of people email Seth for more information. 
Seth hasn’t heard of the black metal band Abazagorath and agrees they must be some posers. (INM formed in 1997, Abazagorath claim to have been around since 1995, but they’re probably just saying that to hide their poserness).”"

Šoreiz jūs kļūdaties, šie puikas to izdara 2 minūtes, ne velti albumā ir iekļautas 40 dziesmas, kas visas ir pelnījušas augstākos apbalvojumus un vietu rokendrola slavas zālē.

Grupa savās dziesmās skar nopietnas tēmas. Ne velti šie zēni tiek dēvēti par lielākajiem pediņiem pasaulē, kā stāsta leģenda Anal Cunt gribēja kādu savu albumu nosaukt par “You’re gay” un uz vāka uzzīmēt spoguli, bet šī ideja izgāzās. Reiz pat šie vīri apdziedāja slaveno vegānu Moriseju (Morrissey) un slavenos repmetālistus Limp Bizkit, kas tieši tobrīd baudīja gardo slavas augli pēc grupas slavenākā albuma iznākšanas (Limp Bizkit Think They’re Black, But They’re Just Gay), bet ģeniālākais skaņdarbs ir kāds stāsts par kādu slavenu tirānu vārdā Ādolfs, kurš izrādijās bijis ļoti jūtīgs vīrietis, tātad arī kāds no Āņa paziņu loka.

Diemžēl šajā albumā nav iekļautas šīs dziesmas un šeit pat nav skarta homofobisma tēma (atskaitot,Pepe, the Gay Waiter), tā vietā tiek piedāvāti 40 lieliski gabali no kuriem 8 ir kaverversijas. Īpaši vēlos izcelt lielisko “disko karaļu” Bee Gees supergrāvēja Stayin’ Alive kaverversiju. No orģinālajiem skaņu jūkļiem vēlos izcelt mīlīgo balādīti par ko noteikti sajūsminās mans kolēģis Flower Shop Guy. Pārējās dziesmas arī ir fantastiskas, bet tomēr tās ir pārāk vienveidīgas.

Albums kurš nav pelnījis ne zemu, ne augstu vērtējumu. Tas vienkārši ir lielisks.

After hustling to get to Station 4 in time for In Defence, I walked in just in time to see them leaving the stage. I was then told I had missed one of their greatest sets ever, one that included clown wigs, jason masks, stage dives gone wrong and bizarre acrobatics. Damn.

Instead, I got to see Gorgotron do a GG Allin cover, Diagoro beg the crowd to mosh and Sikfuk be a fuckin’ weirdo with a drum machine. I would have preferred to be doing other things.

Anal Blast took the stage and used their twenty minutes to play a surprisingly straight-forward set. After hearing the stories of shows with live sex performed on stage and used tampons being eaten, I was expecting some grotesque spectacle for what was billed as the Ass Crack Deluxe Dance Party 2.  Of course, their grind isn’t exactly wholesome, with most of their songs being about menstrual blood in some way or another. They were tight, didn’t overstay their welcome and played an awesome tune called “Sacramenstrual,” about menstrual blood being used as a substitute for the communion wine. Fun for kids!

I had trouble seeing Faggot because I was blinded by all the goddamn glitter covering their bodies. I actually found some in my snot when I blew my nose after the show. Man, I hate glitter. It gets everywhere and you can’t seem to get rid of it.

There was a metalhead standing up front who also hated glitter. He crossed his arms and turned his back to the stage. One of Faggot’s dancers seemed to think that this particular metalhead’s looks of disgust had something to do with all of the pervy dancing and penis being flaunted on stage, but I’m pretty sure it was the glitter.

Still, the dancer kept egging the metalhead on, making kissy faces at him and talking about how enamored he was with the guy. At one point, the metalhead gave the “bring it on” sign, but the dancer just went back to dancing.

It can be difficult to concentrate on Faggot’s music, particularly when a dancer in a skin tight gold suit launches himself into the crowd head first and rolls around on the dirty concrete floor with his penis hanging out, which is why it’s good that Faggot has a CD out now. That makes it easier to enjoy awesome songs like “The Cleaner” and “Fuck You America” without having to worry about someone mashing their cock against your shoe. After they finished taunting the crowd about being a bunch of assholes, they left the stage, leaving trails of glitter in their wake.

When it comes to Anal Cunt songs, there are some clear themes. There are women-hating songs. There are gay-hating songs. But for this show, they went with the holocaust theme, starting their set with the marching grind of “Body by Auschwitz.” The theme popped up again and again, with a highlight coming in the form of the goofy “Hitler was a Sensitive Man.”

When a dude in the crowd yelled out, “I find that mildly offensive,” the guitar player corrected him: “You’re mildly offensive. We’re terribly offensive.”

Surprisingly, they played some new tunes, including the not-terribly-offensive-at-all, “Blasting my Band’s Demo on a Box at the Beach,” which is destined to become an A.C. classic.

If their offensiveness went away for a moment, it didn’t stay gone for long. For every song like their oi version of “Stayin’ Alive,” they played something like “Women, Nature’s Punching Bag.” All the while, lead growler Seth Putnam crushed his arms against his torso while holding the microphone, as if he had to manually squeeze the mind-numbingly intense growls and screeches out of his lungs.

At one point, a drink flew onto the stage and the drummer freaked out. “Who through the drink? Come on asshole!” He bolted off the stage and charged into the bar area of Station 4, randomly picking some dude to accost. I was hoping for fisticuffs, but the drummer gave up when he realized he had the wrong dude. He returned to the drumset and they wrapped up the set with a few more tunes, keeping the violence in the music itself, which is probably the best place for it.

Of late I have been depressed but it seems that events are coming through and sooner or later I shall be a-ok. So maby concerts, trips, and projects coming up that I do not have the time be be a sad sack.

Anal Cunt in Birmingham, Bama-Lama, Gantt and Shannon’s wedding, The Gories and the Oblivians in Memphis, work, various trips to the beach/Huntsville/Atlanta/Birmingham. no time to be sad as much as my gut tells me to be.

I had a whole paper I had worked out in my head about love and the like but in the end I figured I should keep it to myself. A little too much for me to put to paper or screen(?) and overall a bit silly and much. It was really aimed at one person and I do not think this is the best venue for that either.

Not a lot to say otherwise. I began my work for the Montgomery Biscuits the other day. It is not too bad. Most of the time I am moving around carrying various items to various stands for 6 or so hours. My knees are hurting a lot of late but other than that I have not really hurt myself.

Soon, more than likely tomorrow, I will do another radio show. It has been a couple months, I know, but this one will be a little longer to make up for that. hooray!

Austin is generally overflowing with acts; some great, some horrendously mediocre, some that have intentionally offensive names and write songs about Eric Clapton’s dead son (Anal Cunt @ Emos on 4/27). Bueno Bueno, para los que quieran saber quienes son los Anal Cunt, son una banda de Grindcore de Massachusetts U.S.A., formada en 1988 por Seth Putnam (Vocalista y Guitarrista). El Nombre “Anal Cunt” viene de la idea que tuvo Seth sobre ponerle a una banda el más Estúpido, Ofensivo, Grosero, Sin Sentido y Vulgar nombre posible (y la neta lo lograron jaja), Bueno bueno, no voy a ladrar mucho de estos cabrones ya que si en verdad les interesa, investiguen por su cuenta propia, sólo les digo lo que ya dije en la C – Box, Putnam es compadre del Phil Anselmo (De Pantera) y se hacían “paros” en sus bandas y discos a veces, como: Putnam hizo los gritos de fondo para el disco “Great Southern Trendkill” de Pantera y Phil hizo también unas cuantas colaboraciones con Anal Cunt, además siempre que Pantera fuera a dar un concierto en Boston, Anal Cunt era de ley que les abriría.

Y Más blah blah blah blah, Anal Cunt a la misma vez son muy “Conocidos” porque sus letras hablan de Homofobia (pues como se dan cuenta le tiran mucho a los Putos jaja), Racismo, Violaciones, Estupideces y más, a la misma vez les gusta ofender a otras bandas, y tienen varios “lemas” entre sus rolas contra la homosexualidad y nunca pierden una oportunidad para poderte decir A tí, a mí o a Determinada Persona (Famosa por cierto, ya que si no es famosa la persona, no tiene sentido insultarla jaja) que somos Putos, Estúpidos ó cualquier cosa que les venga en Mente, incluso hasta ellos mismos se insultan. The iTunes madness of u***g a*******s on vaguely rude words that started in the Irish store has now spread to the UK store. The heads over at Popjustice are having a g*y old time finding r**e words to p**y with.

I note that Sex On Fire is no longer on the blacklist, but Kanye West’s L**e Lockdown is. The evil, insidious Céline Dion is one tragic victim of the asterisk attack with sensitive iTunes users being protected from her wanton use of that four-letter word. Similarly, the kids are shielded from that brassy Cecilia Ahern’s  flagrant disrespectful use of the offending word in the audiobook of PS: I L**e You.

Meanwhile, you can download most of Anal Cunt’s back catalogue unrestricted. Hooray!

It seems that ‘love’ is truly a four-letter word in Appleland.

It used to be that certain outlets for a band’s exposure would not be kind to those who had monikers that included profanity (not that it mattered to many of the punk and hardcore bands, anyway).  Nowadays the internet is virtually uncensored and artists are free to call themselves what they choose, so here is a list of the pioneers and procurers of the fine art of attention-grabbing-band-naming.

Shitdisco

One of the better bands on the list, and the one with the best music video concept.  The name congers up the mental image of, well, a shitty disco.  A somewhat fitting name for a band that utilizes the “disco high-hat.”

Fucked Up

The name is almost too plain and simple, but the band surprisingly good (as far as hardcore bands go).  Their new album “The Chemistry of Common Life” would be over-the-top good if the singer sang more (as opposed to screaming/growling) over the well-produced instrumentation.

Anal Cunt

Quite literally the most offensive name imaginable which goes fittingly with the offensive (often times comedic) nature of the band.

Shit

An anti-folk band in the same vein as The Moldy Peaches with the tongue-in-cheek, self-deprecating moniker “Shit,” and subsequent artwork.  If you like what you hear you can download their entire album from their myspace page.

The Cumshots

This Norwegian metal band is known mostly for the their name and the lawsuit brought against them for obscenity when a couple decided to have sex on stage to promote an environmental protest site Fuck for Forest during a 2004 festival performance.

I går slapp det svenske baleriske diskopop-kollektivet Studio samleplata Yearbook 2. Jeg har så vidt hørt gjennom plata og remixen av Shout Out Loud låta “Its impossible” fenger. Sannsynligvis blir jeg like fort lei, men enn så lenge.

Så over til noe annet. De siste par dagene har jeg moret meg med Anal Cunts låttitler mens jeg har gnukket rundt på internettet. Musikken er så som så, men de har noen fantantastiske låttitler. Her er et lite utvalg: “I Became A Counselor So I Could Tell Rape Victims They Asked For It”, “You Are An Interior Decorator”, “I Went Back In Time And Voted For Hitler.” Oslo Music Festival-aktuelle Dillinger Escape Plan for også gjennomgå med den kostelige tittelen “Anyone Who Likes The Dillinger Escape Plan Is A Faggot.” Hoho! I tillegg har de en haug med låttitler om ting som er gay. “If You Don’t Like The Village People, You’re Fucking Gay”, “You’re Gay”, “Technology’s Gay”, “Recycling is Gay”, “Windchimes are Gay”, “Internet is Gay”, “Pottery is Gay,” “You Went To See Dishwalla And Everclear (You’re Gay)” og “Grim and Frostbitten Gaybar” (siste er med sideprosjektet Impaled Northern Moonforest, sånn for ordens skyld).

Nuvel, denne koblingen er ganske løs, men uansett er det en liten diskusjon i kommentarfeltet om at remixen av Shout Out Loud-låta er gay. Jeg synes den burde bli en sommerhit. Sommern er uansett rimelig gay.
