Lang, lang ist es her seit eine junge Frau mit einer starken, rauen, einprägsamen und charaktervollen Rockstimme begeistern konnte. Die Newcomerin Saint Lu beendet nun endlich die „Rock-Powerfrau“-Durststrecke! Lockige Mähne, die Arme voller Armreifen, den Hals voller Ketten, schicke Boots an den Füßen, großen Ringe an den Finger und ein unglaubliches Stimmorgan: Saint Lu verkörpert den puren, alten, dreckigen Rock! Bei dieser Beschreibung der neuen Sängerin am Rockhimmel vermutet man eins wohl gar nicht: Saint Lu ist eine waschechte Österreicherin!

Luise Gruber (aka Saint Lu) wuchs in einem kleinen Dorf in Oberösterreich auf (Nähe Wels) und wusste schon mit 8 Jahren, dass sie Musikerin werden wollte: „Meine erste eigene CD war Janis Joplin. Als ich die mit acht bekam, habe ich sofort entschlossen, dass ich Sängerin werden will. Ich habe in meiner eigenen kleinen Welt gelebt. Wir hatten ganz wenige Nachbarn und ich konnte rumschreien, was das Zeug hält und habe Zuhause meine Performances hingelegt. Meine Eltern waren wirklich froh, als ich dann auch öffentliche Auftritte hatte und nicht mehr so viel Zuhause gemacht habe.“ Zu ihren Musik-Vorbildern zählen neben Janis Joplin auch Jimi Hendrix, Led Zeppelin und Big Mama Thornton.

Im Teeniealter gründete sie eine Band, ging mit 18 nach Amerika und studierte dann auf einer Schauspielschule. Ihren Traum mit Musik durchzustarten wollte sie dennoch nicht begraben. Bei der Castingshow “Starmania” versuchte sie ihr Glück. Es klappte nicht. Trotzdem nahm Saint Lu eine Demo-CD auf und verschickte diese an zahlreiche Produzenten. Patrick Majer (Echo-Gewinner & Produzent von “Wir sind Helden”, “No Angels”, Nina Hagen, “Rosenstolz”, usw.) wurde auf die hübsche und vor allem talentierte Rockröhre aufmerksam und lud sie nach Berlin ein. Dort blieb sie bis heute.

Letzten Freitag kam Saint Lu’s Debütalbum auf den Markt. Die erste Single heißt “Don’t miss your own life” und der Vergleich mit Superstars wie Anastacia und Janis Joplin drängt sich beim Hören des Songs automatisch auf. Im Video spielt Saint Lu das Engelchen und Teufelchen.

Die Streicher des Songs wurden übrigens in den legendären Londoner Abbey Road Studios eingespielt - in diesem Interview plaudert Saint Lu über diese wunderbare Erfahrung, ihr Album, ihr Leben, usw.!

Ich bin völlig begeistert von Saint Lu – sie hat das Zeug die Rocklandschaft ordentlich aufzumischen, internationale Erfolge verbuchen zu können und ihre zeitlosen, aber trotzdem zeitgemäßen Songs der breiten Maße schmackhaft zu machen. Ihre rauchige, leidenschaftliche Stimme geht ins Ohr und ihre sympathische Art verzaubert!

Was sagt ihr zur österreichischen Rockröhre?

Ya que se están celebrando los 50 años de existencia de la Motown, traigo una de mis favoritas del mítico sello discográfico I Can’t Help Myself (Sugar Pie, Honey Bunch) para enfrentarla con varias versiones.

Grabada en 1965 por el famoso cuarteto vocal The Four Tops, fue número 1 como tantos otros que consiguieron a lo largo de su carrera como también lo hicieron un año después con otra impresionante canción Reach Out I’ll Be There. El característico sonido Motown se labró con canciones como esta. Las voces de los Four Tops hacen el resto, una delicia para los oídos.

En 1978 la Motown fichó a Bonnie Pointer (una de las cuatro Pointer Sisters) y dos años más tarde  hizo una versión similar aunque con un cierto toque “disco” de la época. En esto no podía desbancar a Donna Summer que fue la reina en ese género. Como dato curioso, las Pointer Sisters empezaron a ser conocidas en 1973 gracias a su single Yes We Can Can. Obama les ha plagiado?

La actriz y cantante Sylvie Vartan adaptó la canción al francés en 1967. Se tituló Garde moi dans ta poche. Su contribución fue añadir el sonido del saxo y ese aire ye-yé de una auténtica diva de aquel estilo. Casada con el rockero Johnny Hollyday, fueron la pareja de moda en los años 60-70 hasta su separación en 1980. En este video le podemos ver bailando como se hacía en esos guateques sesenteros.

Y para terminar, os dejo con una actuación en la que se junta el pasado y el presente. Y es que en el 2000 la interpretaron juntos en un escenario Anastacia y los Four Tops, que a día de hoy siguen haciendo giras a pesar de que 3 de sus miembros originales ya han fallecido. Después de oir su éxito I’m Outta Love lo podréis ver.

Hoy quiero deleitaros con una de las mejores y más conocidas cantantes del mundo a la cual todavía no hemos tenido el honor de nombrar. Esta cantante es Anastacia.

Anastacia es una cantante nacida en Chicago. Comenzó recorriendo clubs de baile locales con la ayuda de su hermana Shawna, pero cuando se dio a conocer verdaderamente fue en 1998 a través de la cadena televisiva MTV mediante el programa “The Cut”, donde participó cantando “Not that kind”, nombre de su primer álbum cuyo primer single, “I’m outta love”, le colocó ya en el número 1 de todas las emisoras de radio.

Al éxito de ese primer álbum le sucedió el de su segundo trabajo titulado “Freak of nature”. Salió al mercado en 2001 y, al igual que el anterior, lo grabó con la compañía Sony. Es un álbum repleto de rock, rhythm & blues y mucho más.

En 2003 aparecía el famosísimo álbum “Anastacia” que supuso una auténtica “bomba” para el panorama musical. Dio a conocer dicho álbum mediante el single “Left outside alone”.

Completan su discografía “Pieces of a dream. The best of Anastacia”, lanzado en 2005, y “Heavy rotation”, su último trabajo que vio la luz en 2008.

En el ámbito profesional, Anastacia ha realizado un buen trabajo al conseguir 5 discos platino, al ganar el premio a la Mejor Artista Novel Internacional en los Premios Musicales Mundiales del año 2001, al ser nominada al premio de Mejor Artista Novel en los Premios Musicales Europeos MTV de ese mismo año, etc. Además conoció al mismísimo Michael Jackson durante su paso por el programa “The Cut”, anteriormente nombrado, animándole éste a continuar cantando. Más tarde la invitó a cantar “What more can I give” junto a otras estrellas, tales como Mariah Carey o Beyoncé, en un concierto benéfico en Washington en 2001.

No obstante, la carrera de Anastacia, a partir de enero de 2003, se vio condicionada a raíz del descubrimiento de cáncer de mama. Influyó en su siguiente disco con un estilo más rockero en el que se veía, por tanto, la utilización abundante de la guitarra. Pensaba en que tenía que luchar y afortunadamente lo hizo. Respondió perfectamente al tratamiento al que fue sometida y en junio de ese mismo año terminó de recuperarse.

Si tuviera la oportunidad de hacerle una entrevista seguramente le plantearía las siguientes cuestiones:

- ¿Qué piensa cuando se da cuenta de que no solo ha conseguido su sueño de ser cantante, sino que además canta junto a cantantes de lo más alto?

- Su último trabajo ha causado tal furor que ya esperamos impacientes el próximo, ¿está ya de camino o tiene alguna idea sobre él?

- ¿Cuál es la anécdota más divertida o embarazosa que recuerda durante su carrera musical?

- De todos sus trabajos, ¿cuál es al que más aprecio tiene?, ¿por qué?

- ¿Detrás de cada canción hay alguna historia o simplemente escribe sobre lo que le sale en cada momento?

Anastacia arrived a little earlier in the week. I had mentioned purchasing her about two weeks ago here but Australia is a long away and sometimes dolls just take a while to arrive. She is an enhanced Greggia by Requiemart. I purchased her from her original owner in Australia and she made her journey back to the states about an hour and a half away from where she got customized (the travels some dolls go through always amuse me- I had one doll go from Japan to Israel to Canada to me in the US).

I was very much amused that the seller had actually included her little sheep pajamas that she had been photographed with in Requiemart’s gallery. I had always admired pictures of her but I bought her because I thought she would make a good counter balance for my Mischa (customized Raphia), I think they will compliment each other well and I plan to photograph them together very soon.

Review/Experience:

I traveled to Spain on July 18th (arrived on the 19th, my birthday) to see Madonna, but I found out that Anastacia was performing too on July 20th! So of course I wanted to go, I asked my friend Susana (I stayed at her house) to buy the ticket for me and she did.

It’s just so happens, that my friend from Caracas, Alejandro was in Madrid too and he was going to Anastacia as well. So we both met at the “Lago” Subway station and walked to the venue. I was amazed that in Spain the security was very chilled compared to Venezuela… They don’t have metal detectors or security guards putting their hand inside your pants, haha!

We walked to the venue very calmed down, around 8 pm and bought some drinks. Yes, the venue was small and it had numbered seats, that’s why our chillness. I bought a tour book and a poster. There was a spanish opening band that we really don’t know what they were playing since we were outside talking. I finally go to look for my seat, and wow! I was in the 3rd row, VERY near to the stage (like 5 meters).

The lights went off, and the video screen went on displaying Anastacia’s pictures. She finally comes up singing “One Day in Your Life”, very beautiful and with a BIG voice that characterizes her. During the uptempo songs, everyone were standing; but in the interludes or slow songs, everyone sat down. I did sit down for a couple of songs but nothing more!

The concert was simple but yet, very very good! with dancers, video screens, wet showers, etc. Haha! During her song “Pieces of a Dream” she approached to our area and began singing to us. Earlier, she did the same and I threw her a kiss with my hand, well, Now she did the same! I felt lucky [You can see that in the minute 4:05 of the 2nd part of the video].

Ah, and also there was an “interlude” time where Anastacia picks up a fan and dances with him on the stage. Well, she picked up a guy (who didn’t wear shoes) and began to talk to him and sign a tour book. The guy didn’t speak English at all! and told her (don’t know how he did it) to sign the tour book for a friend! It was a very embarrassing moment! Poor Anastacia, she should’ve picked me!

She ended with Left Outside Alone, the Jason Nevins Remix which drove me insane! XD! On our way out of the venue, there were Anastacia’s dancers being interviewed but we didn’t stay, it wasn’t Anastacia herself!

Every now and again, I get bored and look through Requiemart’s Custom Dolls Gallery. I was always find myself wondering where her various customs ended up.

One of the dolls I was always kind of drawn to was Anastacia. She is a custom Greggia, I am guessing she is a bit of an older custom but something about her really attracted me.

She popped up unexpectedly on dolly market this morning and I just kind of looked at the listing like why does she look familiar and then it clicked oh, that is Anastacia. Even though I had been planning on buying Puki today, I caved as unlike Puki there is only one of her and I doubt she would be going back up for sale any time soon.

Numa época em que tão facilmente se esquece da magia de brincar, esta notícia trouxe-me muitas recordações, embora por motivos tristes. De realçar ainda que todo este mundo criado de Monteiro Lobato foi adaptado para televisão por uma equipe que, quer ao nível de texto, quer ao nível musical, é uma autêntica constelação de estrelas, que deram o seu contributo para que a magia fosse ainda mais mágica, e que ainda hoje é difícil reunir mesmo numa novela de topo, quanto mais numa série infantil. Benedito Ruy Barbosa, Gilberto Gil, Dorival Caymmi, Chico Buarque de Holanda, Francis Hime, Ivan Lins, João Bosco…
Li esta notícia com verdadeira pena, mas ao mesmo tempo não posso deixar de me sentir contente…dessa pena retiro que a criança que em mim habita ainda vive, está atenta e desperta. E isso devo-o muito aos momentos que passei sentado no chão a ver o Sítio, a admirar a Dona Benta e o Tio Barnabé, a achar engraçados a cozinheira Anastácia, e a desejar que no meu mundo também existi-se um Visconde de Sabugosa e uma boneca de trapos falante

Standpoint

It’s pretty much a universal belief that the iPhone is the single greatest invention of this, or any other, era. Maybe. They seem pretty great. The whole bumpin’-iPhones-to-exchange pics app looks maybe somehow maybe somewhat useful. The holding-your-iPhone-to-a-speaker-in-a-public-place-to-find-out-who-is-performing app seems more than useful, if not a blatant attempt by Apple to get iPhone users to buy songs while inebriated in a bar. I bet it works more often than not. Kudos, Apple geniuses. I don’t own an iPhone, so I don’t truly know what it is everyone is yammering about.

However, I do know this: the iPhone is destroying something near and dear to my heart. Being both a bartender and an avid bar customer, I’m a huge fan of the mostly meaningless, often illogical and mainly unfulfilling pastime of bullshitting from a bar stool. Once upon a time, you could go to a local watering hole with a group of your buddies, and, after a few drinks, start up some nonsensical debate, usually about (a) sports, (b) music, (c) movies, and, even sometimes, (d) historical events. These are the kinds of debates that, even when highly intelligent individuals are involved, can go on for hours due to the emphatic way each person “swears to God” they’re right, and the increasing amounts of alcohol consumed.

For me, these deliberations are highly entertaining due to the simple fact it’s inconsequential who’s right and who’s wrong. The winner is the person who can convince everyone else involved they are, in fact, wrong, and he, in fact, is right. Even when he’s completely wrong and everyone else is exactly right. Whichever side of the bar I find myself on, it’s something I excel at. As a bartender, I love manipulating a bunch of drunk conversation in one way or another, nudging them along with supposedly innocous statements. As a bar customer, I more enjoy stating a fact or taking a position I know to be erroneous, and coaxing everyone to accept it as gospel truth. I’m kind of a dick that way.

IN ANY CASE, the iPhone has turned almost all of these disputes, once a nightlong event, into a simple matter of pulling a device out a pocket, and providing an irrefutable answer to whatever the hell it was everyone was discussing, reducing it to a matter of minutes, sometimes seconds.

The topic is trivial. Did Jason Bateman play a swarmy kid in the Ricky Schroeder sitcom “Silver Spoons?” Some people say yes, some say no. The argument could go on forever. Meanwhile, in the course of all that banter, the immediate topic gets put aside for a time, other topics emerge and are chewed on. Eventually, someone remembers how it all started and the original question is loudly thrown back onto the table. More hemming and hawing. No conclusion can be reached. But everyone had a helluva time trying to figure it out.

But now, when the Jason Bateman-”Silver Spoons” question comes up, at least three people, one of which was some loner eavesdropper no one knows, will whip out their iPhone (or its ugly cousin, the Blackberry), go to IMDb.com and tell everyone, yes, Jason Bateman was on the “Silver Spoons,” playing a characater named Derek for 23 episodes between 1982 and 1984.

And that’s it. End of discussion. Hours of fun averted.

I love all this technology, but there are some things that will go away because of it, that will make everything just a little less fun.

Recently, someone described my music listening tastes as, “mostly lyric-driven.” OK, I’ll buy that. Probably true. Guess that’s why Brendan Benson’s song, “What I’m Looking For” has been my on-again, off-again theme song for the past several years. I’m reasonably sure some of the most well-written lyrics ever.

Anastacia, American singer

Annamari Dancs a filmat un videoclip la cel mai recent single intitulat Live your life. Clipul este produs de Annamari Dancs și Dj Robert Georgescu şi a fost filmat și montat în decursul unei singure săptămâni. Filmările au avut loc la Sighișoara,  într-o atmosferă superbă. “Este vorba despre 16 ore de lucru din greu, dar ne-am simțit foarte bine!” – începe Annamari. “Cel mai greu a fost când filmam pe străzile orașului și trebuia să avem grijă ca turiștii  să nu intre în cadru. Pe lângă acesta,  la filmări au participat și doi copii, Kimberly de 2 ani si nepotul meu Adam de 5 ani, care și-au pierdut destul de repede răbdarea. De altfel am primit foarte mult ajutor din partea fan-cluburilor, am avut mai mulți prieteni, care au venit să ne ajute “, mai povesteşte interpreta. Regizorul a fost  Ciprian Florea, unul din cei mai buni regizori ai momentului, având în palmares clipuri celebre ca Connect-R- Burning Love sau Inna-Love. Echipa a fost întărită de make-up- artista Dana Argeșan, care a lucrat deja cu mai multe staruri hollywoodiene, ca de exemplu Samuel L.Jackson, Kylie Minouge, Anastacia sau Willem Dafoe. Clipul va fi în curând disponibil pe YouTube, pe pagina de web a cantăreței și pe catmusic.ro  , iar în câteva săptămâni va fi difuzată și pe posturile din țară și străinătate. Puteţi asculta piesa chiar pe siteul interpretei.
