C’era una volta, tanto tempo fa … un mondo di fregnacce.

Vi siete mai chiesti perché tante donne si sono illuse di poter trovare il principe azzurro o al limite di poter trasformare una bestia (che si tratti anche di rospo) in uomo meraviglioso?

La risposta è ovvia, per colpa di tutte quelle fiabe che ci propinano da piccole. Cominciano tutte con il loro “C’era una volta” e si accentrano su una sfigata, ma gran tronco di gnocca, repressa da famiglia, povertà o altre calamità naturali. Se si volesse essere un onesto genitore bisognerebbe fin da subito sottolineare alla propria figlioletta che se non diventerà una “patonza da competizione” non potrà sperare nel tanto atteso “e vissero felici e contenti”. Purtroppo molte mamme sorvolano su questa “condicio sine qua non” dando la falsa speranza a tanti brutti anatroccoli di essere dei cigni speciali, quando da discrete beccacce si prospetta loro nella più rosea delle ipotesi un futuro da single.

Si potrebbero scrivere tomi interi prendendo in esame tutti i capolavori di Andersen (che tutti ricorderanno per il suo best seller “La principessa sul pisello” – la più fortunata di tutte le eroine dei piccoli) – Fratelli Grimm & Co., ma ritenendomi profondamente magnanima ed altruista, eviterò questo supplizio anche perché, personalmente, devo ritenermi fortunata. Mia madre non ha mai cercato di indorarmi la pillola con queste idiozie, è sempre stata molto chiara riguardo al mondo maschile e al suo incontro con l’universo femminile.

- Ricorda Sabrina cosa diceva tua nonna: “Tutti gli uomini che vuoi, ma fuori dalla porta di casa tua” -

Grande mia nonna, lei sì che aveva capito tutto; scopa quanto ti pare, ma non ti fare impalmare da un disgraziato o sei finita! Tra l’altro mio padre ha sempre rincarato la dose con un “se la vuoi dare in giro … liberissima!, ma almeno fatti pagare” – vedi la praticità maschile che gran cosa?!

Ad ogni modo mi hanno tutti raccomandato di fare occhio agli uomini belli. Nel caso fortuito in cui, fosse mai che di culo, in una notte molto buia (diciamo pesta), dopo averlo fatto bere tanto manco dovesse partire seduta stante per la Parigi – Dakar ed esserti (come dice la mia amica Mary Rose) “tirata a balestra”, uno di questi esemplari di maschio Alpha ti si trombi (Cielo! So di rasentare la fantascienza e che la probabilità è la stessa di ricevere un fulmine in testa e non restare permanentemente fluorescenti, ma nella vita si sa mai) sappi che il giorno dopo tale soggetto non ti chiamerà e sarà come volatilizzato, morto. Potrai addirittura credere di essertelo sognato.

Ecco questa è l’unica banfata che mi abbiano fatto credere. Per intenderci: sono sempre stata disillusa sull’”happy ending” e il “prince charming”, ma sulla favola “sedotta e abbandonata”, beh su quella ci contavo. Ho passato anni a sperare che la folgore mi colpisse, che un pezzo di manzo bastardo passasse e mi desse quella botta e via in amicizia e allegria e quando finalmente mi si presenta l’occasione … niente, nisba, una bella boiata anche quella!

Vediamo di fare mente locale e di spiegarvi come è andata …

C’era una volta a Cavolinia (meglio nota come Bruxelles) una ragazza … bella? No, carina? Forse, diciamo un tipo … insomma, c’era una ragazza, figlia unica (nessuna sorella cattiva o matrigna repressa), autosufficiente (con stipendio mensile, una bella casa, coinquiline meravigliose, amici e tonnellate di birra – una vera favola questa mica panzane!) e single (o zitella che dir si voglia) da qualche mese, dopo aver mollato l’ennesima bestia che non si sarebbe mai trasformata, ma lei nemmeno ci avrebbe provato (dal che si deduce che la fanciulla era pure assai sveglia).

Una sera nemmeno troppo buia e tempestosa, Vera Sfiga (alias più appropriato non potevo trovare) e la sua follettina irlandese si recarono a casa di una cara amica per una cena. Lì oltre all’ottimo cibo, le aspettava una gradevole compagnia. I commensali erano sette (come i nani) e due di questi facevano parte dell’emisfero maschio.

Ogni cosa procedeva cristallina e serena.

Dopo il lauto pasto i sette compari trottarono a piotte verso la “Magica tana del corvo” (“Le Corbeau” una delle più note bettole di Bruxelles che vi consiglio caldamente) qui ad attenderli tanto nettare degli dei (birra a fiotti) e le note di cetre sublimi (gran fracasso di musica a palla). Vera ballava con le sue ancelle su tronchi di abete intarsiati da mani elfiche (meri tavoli di legno, probabilmente compensato). Allo scoccare delle tre (solo quella vecchiarda di Cenerella aveva problemi di incozzaggine dopo la mezzanotte, per noi comuni mortali è l’esatto opposto, dopo una certa grazie a “Dio Alcool” si sembra tutte più fighe) uno dei sette avventurieri tale Manc O’ Perilcazzo la invita a danzare e volteggiando leggeri ecco un bacio soave (le poggia il pacco sul culo, la volta e le ficca tre metri di lingua giù per l’esofago che manco una gastroscopia!). Manc era un giovanotto alto, dal portamento nobile ed il fare gentile (tronco di pino di primissima qualità che neppure pregando in aramaico si potrebbe sperare meglio, nonché grandissimo cinghiale al quale confronto Gattuso sembra il gatto con gli stivali di Shrek nell’apice di tenerezza). Vera rossa di timidezza continuava a piroettare fra le sue braccia fino ad uscire dal covo sotto il chiaro di luna (arrapata da fare invidia al “Re della patatina” e incredula seguì il figone fuori dal locale saltando tre o quattro sbarbatelli ubriachi vomitanti). La loro pelle rischiarata dalla candida luce della luna era calda ed ebbra di passione, anche la natura attorno gioiva cantando del momento sublime (pomiciavano come dannati con sottofondo di sirene di ambulanza e madama). La carrozza riaccompagnò Vera alla sua umile dimora, Manc prima di lasciarla le diede un ultimo bacio e le rubò la promessa di un nuovo incontro (un taxi-fiorino mi smollò a casa e il simpatico amico della banana mi chiese di rivederci uno di quei giorni).

Da allora Vera attese una, due, tre notti … settimane trascorsero di Manc non ci fu più traccia.

Ora mi dico sul bono ci siamo, sull’abbandono pure, ma prima non doveva esserci la trombata colossale?!? Che fine ha fatto il buon principio di prima me la dai, te sdrumo e poi sparisco?!? Intendiamoci dello sparisco non mi frega una mazza, insomma che Manc si sia dileguato ben venga, ma almeno prima trivellami!

Niente, le favole sono fatte per illudere questa è l’unica morale da tenere a mente, non ci si può fidare nemmeno di quelle più realistiche o a sfondo sessuale, anzi di quelle meno che mai.

Premettendo che non penso di mettere mai al mondo una creatura, nell’ipotesi insana ed impensabile che ciò accada, sarò ancora più spietata di quanto non siano stati con me. Le direi chiaro e tondo: – Senti nini se fosse mai, voglia Odino che un bonazzo assurdo ti si fili per una sera … VIOLENTALO! Gli uomini sono come la ricotta fresca fuori dal frigo; la sera prima buonissima, la mattina dopo scaduta, troppo tardi, game over! -.

 Non ci resta che inneggiare all’unico slogan che ad oggi ci possa salvare e non alludo all’ormai obsoleto “YES WE CAN”, bensì al più moderno ed appropriato: “NO MORE FAIRYTALES”!

Pablo Poloverdo è un bambino che abita con i genitori nell’ultima casa all’estremo sud del Cile, la casa alla fine del mondo, dove di solito non passa mai nessuno e dove, invece, nel primo capitolo di questo romanzo “per ragazzi”, passa un assassino che ammazza brutalmente i suoi genitori e si insedia lì, a vivere col bambino che ha reso orfano.
Sì, avete letto bene, tremate pure, così come deve aver tremato la casa editrice per pubblicarlo, così come tremeranno, quando lo proporrò, insegnanti e genitori.
Angel Alegrìa, l’assassino, è un uomo cresciuto conoscendo solo il bisogno e la violenza ma nella sua vita accanto a Pablo, nella casa alla fine del mondo e nel viaggio che faranno poi, impara, uno ad uno, lentamente, i sentimenti: l’orgoglio, l’attaccamento, la gelosia, l’affetto…
Impara a pensare al passato e al futuro, a rimettere in relazione i fatti di una vita. Tutto questo senza che ci sia un pieno, conclamato, finto e stereotipato pentimento, come qualcuno potrebbe aspettarsi.
La storia è di un’amarezza estrema, nel suo turbare, sfumare e confondere i confini tra ciò che è giusto e ciò che è sbagliato che tanti vorrebbero netti e ben segnati, nei libri per ragazzi e nella vita.
Invece, “Le lacrime dell’assassino”, riporta il “bene” e il “male” alla loro complessità e – e cosa si può chiedere di meglio ad un libro?- costringe a pensare.
Romanzo francese che in patria ha vinto tutti i premi possibili.
Scrivo questa recensione a caldo, a libro appena finito. Temo che tre stelle siano troppo poco, ma lascerò sedimentare qualche ora o qualche giorno la storia per darne un giudizio più ponderato. Si insinua in me il dubbio di avere tra le mani uno dei migliori libri per ragazzi dell’anno.

En este libro podreis encontrar unos cuantos cuentos de H. C. Andersen, clasicos como El Ruiseñor, El Patito Feo o La Sirenita. Son cuentos breves, con cuidadas ilustraciones en color y blanco y negro de Christian Birminghan, un celebre ilustrador que ha colaborado en muchas otras obras.

Es un libro pequeño, de no más de 120 paginas, y donde cada cuento dura entre 10 y 20 paginas. En cada uno, veremos un tema diferente y curioso, con finales felices o tristes, y curiosos personajes. Al final, hay una guia de lectura y actividades por si queries profundizar en su comprensión  y ver que valores se esconden detras.

What comes to mind when you think of the polka? (If you’ve never really thought about the polka, this is your chance.) For me it conjures memories of barn dances in the tiny little town of Tripp, South Dakota. As a child I’d travel to Tripp every couple of years to visit my father’s family.

I remember playing gin rummy for pennies, meticulously working on paint-by-number canvases and hitting a nearby barn to dance with my father long into the night. (We took frequent breaks for authentic German sausages and Shirley Temples.) My father is a man of few compliments, but he sometimes lets it slip that he likes two things about my dancing: that I’m good at following a lead, and that I never tire out.

I thought of my grandparents from South Dakota, long ago deceased, when I discovered that the Phoenix Symphony is playing “Strauss: Waltzes and Polkas this weekend (November 27th and 28th at Phoenix Symphony Hall and November 29th at Mesa Arts Center). It’s a rare opportunity to enjoy the dance music of bygone days, and an especially good choice if you have grandparents visiting for the holidays.

If you prefer more traditional holiday fare, you can enjoy Frances Smith Cohen’s The Snow Queen presented by Center Dance Ensemble Saturdays and Sundays December 5^th-20^th at the Herberger Theater Center in Phoenix. Jennifer danced in the Snow Queen for many years, and we always found pure joy both backstage and in the audience.

It’s hard to understate the importance of keeping the joy in dance, which is something Susan Silverman and Frances Cohen do so beautifully during dance classes, recitals and summer camps with Dance Theater West in Phoenix. This is where my daughters first caught the joy of movement (although Jennifer seemed to have an inkling in utero).

When Jennifer and I last hit the Mesa Arts Center, we enjoyed African dance along with the music of Playing for Change. (I’ve never seen more boomers boogying in one place before!) Next month, we can hit MAC to enjoy two holiday dance performances…

First, Christmas Wishes presented by Arizona Desert Dance (December 11^th at 7pm), which features dancers age two through adult. Audience members two and under get in free. Second, Spirit of Christmas presented by The Christian Dance Company (December 17^th at 7:30pm), which features a cast of more than 100 dancers and singers.

If we just can’t wait that long, we can try the AZDance Group’s Christmas Dance Concert on December 7th at 6:30pm at the Tempe Center for the Arts. The event features guest dancer Astrit Zejnat from Ballet Arizona, the AZDance professional dance roster and the Movement E-Motion dance program for “individuals with different abilities.”

If you’re a fan of The Nutcracker ballet, you’ll have plenty of options this year. Consider taking in more than one so you can enjoy the variety of sets, costumes and talented performers. This piece never gets old.

First up is The Nutcracker presented by Ballet and Friends (November 27^th-29^th) at the Herberger Theater Center in Phoenix. These performances benefit the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve ‘Toys for Tots’ program.

This weekend you can also enjoy The Nutcracker presented by Ballet Etudes, which I’ve long admired for its mix of ethereal and whimsical costumes and sets. It runs Fridays through Sundays November 27^th –December 13^th at the Mesa Arts Center. Never mind about the missing theater seat—it’s the one I took home to install in my teen taxi because it was so comfy. Kidding!

Ballet Arizona performs Ib Andersen’s The Nutcracker December 11^th-27^th at Symphony Hall in Phoenix. Music will be performed by the Phoenix Symphony (except for performances on the 26^th and 27^th). The Ballet Arizona box office has special hours today and tomorrow for folks who want to get a jump on securing the best seats. (Ask them as well about their magical Nutcracker Party on December 5^th.)

Lizabeth has danced the roles of bon bon/Mother Ginger’s child, grandfather mouse and party girl—but will be appearing instead this year in a “darker, edgier” version of Oliver! with Greasepaint Youtheatre. (I had a great time working backstage for The Nutcracker but doubt I’ll miss picking all those stray bobby pins off the children’s rehearsal room floor.) Liz was an Arabian Dancer for The Nutcracker Children’s Party. Cute tummy!

An Irish Nutcracker will be presented by the Celtic Dance Academy on December 19^th and 20^th (at the Mesa Arts Center). Kids three and younger get in free for this gig (jig?). Yup—there’s pretty much always something fun going on at the MAC! (Today’s teaser: Think Tupperware meets theatrics.)

This will get you in the mood to see Riverdance when their tour hits Arizona in January. Or to hit Randy’s restaurant in Scottsdale for authentic Irish food come St. Patrick’s Day 2010. Wearers of the green (I married one) can never plan too far ahead.

Finally, you can enjoy the Moscow Ballet’s Great Russian Nutcracker Tuesday, December 22^nd at 7:30pm at the Dodge Theatre in Phoenix (a venue Lizabeth and I enjoyed for Riverdance when she was just a few years into violin studies).

Dancing our way in December are three non-holiday performances that sound seriously intriguing. There’s life beyond eggnog, so let’s talk about these too…

SCC Dance of Scottsdale Community College presents Instinct Dance Corps, SCC Moving Company and the Scottsdale Arizona Jazz Ensemble performing Muscle Memory Implications at 8pm on December 4^th and 5^th at the ASU Studio Theatre in Tempe.

Enjoy an entire weekend of dance by adding another performance to your calendar. Emerging Artists I Resite takes place December 4^th and 5^th from 8pm to midnight at two Phoenix locations. The first night is free, as part of Phoenix’s First Friday program. Tickets are $7-$20 for night number two, taking place at Bragg’s Pie Factory. The event features paint, sound and text created through the Tumbleweed Center for Youth Development.

An annual dance festival—Breaking Ground 2009—with CONDER/dance takes place at the Tempe Center for the Arts December 11^th and 12^th. According to event organizers, it features “diverse high caliber offerings from contemporary choreographers and film makers from across the country.” All I need to know is that I can enjoy the view of lights twinkling over the water from this venue. That pretty much stops me in my tracks.

You could choose just one. But why? Tickets are all reasonably priced, and you might stumble upon some deals if you pay careful attention (signing up for venue/company e-mail alerts is my tried-and-true method of learning about special ticket offers).

It’s not Tripp, South Dakota, of course. But maybe that’s a good thing…

Os contos de fadas sempre tiveram grande importância na minha vida. Foi através deles que fui iniciada no mundo maravilhoso das letras. Em minha memória, essas histórias encantadas estão associadas sempre a gostosas sensações.

Quando resgato momentos felizes da minha infância, não é raro ver o carpete verde com almofadinhas azuis da biblioteca infantil da minha velha escola; suas estantes baixinhas, com prateleiras repletas de livros. Cada um deles, uma porta mágica para mundos fantásticos. Ali passava horas e horas, depois das aulas, esperando mamãe – que era minha professora e também bibliotecária – terminar o expediente e me levar para casa.

Meus contos favoritos sempre foram os dos irmãos Grimm e Hans Christian Andersen. Ah! Como eu queria poder emprestar um cobertorzinho para “a pequena vendedora de fósforos” se aquecer e, assim, evitar aquele final tão triste, que sempre me deixava apertado o coração. Que admirável a coragem de Gerda, enfrentando tantos perigos para salvar seu amigo Pedro das garras da Rainha das neves. Será que eu, no lugar dela, conseguiria? E que tentação, para João e Maria, aquela casa toda feita de doces bem no meio da floresta. Quem resistiria?

Nas férias do final de ano, o tapete e as almofadas da biblioteca eram substituídos por uma rede ou uma cadeira de balanço no alpendre da casa dos meus avós. As histórias também eram outras, igualmente fantásticas. Invencionices de um velho bobo e doce, para encantar e fazer brilhar os olhinhos dos seus netos queridos. As princesas e fadas eram agora iaras; as bruxas, duendes e dragões eram agora os sacis, os curupiras, as matintas-pereiras. Ai! Quanto medo de cruviana. Que pavor de visagem…

Durante a semana santa, minha avó – muito católica – tornava-se ardilosa. E que deliciosos artifícios aqueles empregados por ela para nos fazer ficar quietinhos: suas histórias de terror enregelavam-nos o sangue e nos faziam suar a bicas sob as cobertas, na cama, a fim de evitar que o “bicho folharal” ou o “mão-branca” surgissem de sob o assoalho do quarto e nos puxassem pelos pés para sabe lá que mundos.

Acredito que venha daí essa minha mania de ter sempre um livro à mão ou estar sempre a inventar histórias, escrevê-las por aí, contá-las a quem se dispuser a ouvi-las. Acaba sendo uma forma de matar as saudades de quando eu tinha 8 anos e a fantasia ainda era uma atividade recorrente em minha vida. Quando ainda me era permitido acreditar em Papai Noel ou em potes de ouro escondidos no final do arco-íris sem ser reprimida ou censurada pelos adultos “sérios”.

Ah! As fantasias pueris.

Sempre da aNobii, stavolta però facciamo un passo indietro e parliamo non de La vita come viene, ma delle Lacrime dell’assassino.

Toccante

Uno spietato assassino scopre il suo cuore duro e ruvido capace di provare un affetto sincero e puro per un bambino; potrebbe sembrare la solita favoletta buonista, ma in realtà è un libro crudo e schietto, dove l’amore non è una bacchetta magica che ripara a tutti gli errori e a tutto il male commesso.
Anzi, quest’amore inaspettato per il piccolo Pablo sarà proprio ciò che porterà Angel Alegrìa verso la condanna a morte, passando dal ruolo del carnefice a quello della vittima con una tale consapevolezza e una dignità pari – se non superiore – a quella degli uomini definiti “buoni”.
Quegli stessi uomini “buoni” che, in nome della giustizia, lo uccideranno, togliendo al piccolo Pablo l’unico vero affetto che lui avesse mai conosciuto.

Sono rimasta affascinata dallo stile conciso e senza fronzoli melensi dell’autrice. Mi aspettavo un libro introspettivo con la voce narrante dell’assassino, carica delle sue colpe e dei suoi fantasmi, invece ho trovato una piacevole narrazione in terza persona che con poche parole giuste dette al momento giusto ha saputo trasmettere non solo il tormento dell’assassino, ma anche le paure e le speranze del piccolo verso questo mistero che chiamano Vita, e l’affetto che, con semplici gesti quotidiani, si rinforza pagina dopo pagina.
Tra i due, nessuno slancio d’affetto scontato e melenso; gesti molto concreti e spesso apparentemente distaccati, che col tempo però acquistano un nuovo significato.
L’unica e più intensa dimostrazione di quest’affetto impossibile la si ha solo alla fine, quando Pablo ed Angel saranno costretti a dividersi.
E lì, confesso, ho pianto.

Insegna che fare una distinzione netta tra Buoni e Cattivi non è quasi mai possibile.
Un libro a metà tra favola moderna e denuncia delle ipocrisie del nostro essere.
Un libro toccante.

The Raps have their hands full tonight

Coming off a tight loss in Phoenix Sunday, the Raptors are in Denver tonight to face the Nuggets — never a fun task, but we might as well get this one over with. As always, a full preview over at Raptors Republic, featuring my NBA 2K10 game simulation.

Last year Toronto was pasted in Denver 132-93 in early December — Sam Mitchell’s last game as head coach. The Nuggets come into this one 7-3 and tied with Portland atop the Northwest Division, undefeated at home and coming off a 105-79 romp of the Lakers on Friday. They didn’t do much to upgrade in the summer, but last November’s addition of Chauncey Billups transformed them into a top-five team in the league, where I believe they still stand. A couple keys tonight will be to keep Billups in check and keep Carmelo Anthony completely going off — he’s currently tied for second in the league at 29.7 points per game. Denver also got a boost last week with the return of suspended guard J.R. Smith, who’s averaged 14.3 points in three games. Smith is talented but extremely shot-happy, and has proven capable of shooting the Nuggets out of games on off-nights. Let’s hope tonight is one of them.

Chris Bosh should be able to have his way in the paint with Kenyon Martin and Nene, though Birdman Andersen will bring some shot-blocking punch off the bench. I’m not sure what else Toronto can do to come out on top tonight other than to cross their fingers and hope for a miracle, though.

The Raptors and Nuggets get going at nine.

Dawno, dawno temu, na dwór cesarski przybyło dwóch tkaczy i zaprezentowało władcy cudowną tkaninę.  Jej cudowność polegała na tym,  że jedynie ewidentni głupcy nie byli w stanie jej zobaczyć. Tkanina spodobała się Najjaśniejszemu Panu nadzwyczaj.  Do tego stopnia, że zapragnął aby uszyto mu z niej nową szatę. Gdy cesarz prezentował swe nowe szaty ludowi, ten wpadł w zachwyt graniczący z euforią. Ochom i achom nie było końca. Jakiś mały gówniarz usiłował wprawdzie zakłócić uroczystość, ale – ku zadowoleniu ogółu – szczęśliwie udało się go skutecznie uciszyć.

Minęły lata. Z chwilą pojawienia się przemysłu, ubrania z cudownej tkaniny skierowano do masowej produkcji. Obecnie cieszą się szeroką popularnością i można je nabyć po przystępnej cenie.

Not Working

First off: my Monitor dies, i had a very good Samsung monitor for about 3-4 years, i’ve newer had a single problem with it. its a Syncmaster

930BF. a nice 19 inch 5:4 Monitor… and all of a sudden: Poof! no monitor for Frank anymore

So i consulted with my dad who had a 19 inc Viewsonic standing and collecting dust, i could have that till my own was working again

Well, i guess it could be worse, at least my computer didnt die… [Facepalm]

Now skip to about one and a half month later. i wake up a morning and turns on my rig… no signal to the monitor
i try replugging the cables, turning both monitor and rig off, testing with the Laptop… the Monitor works, but i still dont have a signal from my computer… so what i do is: pop open the case, have a look at the graphics card, dust it off and try again… still nothing.

i try repluggin the cables and the Power supply but nothing… I try the onboard VGA input and PRESTO! i got signal.

Still Working

you know what that means? My graphics card is Dead!

I’m a sucker for Half Life 2.

litterally! i own The Orange Box on both Xbox 360 and PC. I’ve beaten the game so many times that you cant count it, and i got more then half of the achivements from the orange box. I Love both Portal and Team Fortress 2. i Even finished the original after i Played the second game. i like everything about you company.Your Morale, Your Costumer support, Your Steam Service, your Games (exept Counter Strike).

it’s about two years ago i got my world rocked by the best PC game i got that year. i finally got my hands on Episode 2 and within the package there were even more win in the form of Portal and the Best Multiplayer game on the PC! (that says alot). but thats not the point of this post…

‘After i beat Episode 2 i began playing trough the game another time with the developer commentary, so i cound get alot of insider info, thaughts and comments about how the game was made, about 10 minutes in i discovered that the Episodic content for half Life 2 whould be spread around 3 chapters.

Skip to right around now, its 2 years later, 2 years for a little piece of episodic content is a really Really long time. ofcourse valve hacve promised that the third episode will be both longer and more epic (Duh, it will end the HL2 Saga)

Even more, ofcourse i want the game to be perfect, if it’s going to end the HL2 story it better be epic…

but valve, i’m a fan… i want to see and know everything about the games, i love the world, the story, the characters everything…

waiting for two years is torture, hurry up valve, please?

This wednesday i sent of a small request, and about 5 pm. i were 3800 danish crowns poorer.

for the last half year i have been saving up nearly all of my earned money. why? well, becouse for the last year and a half i have been using a wery old and wery slow IBM laptop. altrough it’s slow and old it helped me make it to where i am. but i knew it was just a matter of time before the laptop whould die (it is that old). so i knew that i whould have to find myself a new one.

i found this little baby here (that i’m writing from at this moment), at a web-sale, it was 12% off, and the only thing that came to my head was: “I wont get a chance like this in a long time”. so i grabbed my wallet and ordered the laptop 2 days later.

…If only i knew that the two following days whould feel like an eternaty, but friday around noon i got a text message from my mom, “Your package have arrived”. when i came home a few hours later i litterally flew up my room to unpack it: and there it was!

damn i’m still completely psyqued about it, i’m nearly done with installing software and games. damn this thing is awesome

so, where have i been this last mont or two… i’ve been at school, it have been a complete nightmare with the amount of homework that have been thrown at us, at on time we had more then 3 reports and 3-4 refular home assignments to do. and the teachers dont even flinc, it’s been busy, that’s all i’m saying.

But even trough that were get a hell’a'lot of homework, i’ve been trying to keep up. it’s hard but i think i’m able to do it, so keep your fingers crossed for me

i know this one seems kind of short but dont worry, this one is just a little recap of the last few months. my real return will be posted tonight

Quali sono i miei progetti? Sto scrivendo il mio prossimo romanzo per ragazzi, che verrà pubblicato (se non sono troppo in ritardo) nella primavera del 2010. Poiché gradisco le sorprese, non rivelo nulla, vi dico soltanto che è sulla scia de La vita come viene, e che l’azione si situa al giorno d’oggi, a Parigi. Per quanto riguarda il mio romanzo destinato agli adulti, dopo un certo numero di letture (grazie a quelli che gli hanno dedicato del tempo!), sono convinta che non sia pronto… Incoraggiata tuttavia a riprenderlo, spero di avere il tempo, l’energia e la voglia di lavorarci di nuovo nei  mesi che vengono, prima di darmi un’altra chance.

The Denver Nuggets is the face of the NBA for the upcoming season. No other team makes more justice for what is going on this year. This season of the NBA is just a light update for last season, just like the Nuggets are a light update from the team who went to the Western Conference Finals. The contenders are the same, the middle teams are the same and the bad teams are the same just like the coach is the same, the blue chippers are the same and the mentality is the same in Colorado.

The only loss of the team that surprised us a year ago, because of how far they went without melting down, is Danthay Jones who left to be overpaid in Indiana. To replace him, the Nuggets signed Aaron Aflalo who will do the same things for a lower price and that’s how you run a franchise. Denver is also starting to prepare for the future by trading a draft pick next year to Minnesota for Ty Lawson.

Maybe Carmelo Anthony takes another step to the next level, Billups is not done yet, George Karl goes against his stats and the team doesn’t freak out like we are expecting to but their inside the paint is way too small to compete against powerful teams like the Spurs and the Lakers and that’s the reason why they don’t go deeper and they didn’t improve on that department.

This season will pick up where it lefts off, so I expect the Nuggets to pick up where they left off. They are probably the first team behind the two powerhouses of the Western Conference. We can’t predict injuries but we know they may, will happen which means that the Nuggets are still alive.

It’s here folks. There are no words to describe how happy I am for the fact that the NBA is set to begin. We’re four days away from opening night and eying that game 1, the Lakers and the Nuggets faced each other at Honda Center in Anaheim for another preseason showdown on this Thursday Night. In preseason, the score really doesn’t matter, what matters are the lessons that we take for the upcoming regular season.

The first and most important lesson that we were able to learn is that the Lakers look as solid as they did in the end of last season. Their blue chippers are the same, their useless players are the same and their doubtful players are the same. Kobe looks as scary as he always did. There are absolutely no signs of falling production because of his age but the motivation issues remain to be seen when records start to count. Odom Kardashian looked really good, especially beyond the arc, so maybe the idea we had of him slowing down now that he’s secured could be wrong. Gasol have sat out throughout this preseason, probably because of the surgery he underwent during the summer so we should keep an eye there. No Gasol, no chance. PG play is still a problem in Southern California. Derek Fisher looks old so we are probably going to see Shannon Brown starting which is not good but the bigger problem is Ron Artest. He’s bigger, stronger, slower, missing a lot of shots but passing the ball. I’m the one of those who believes he’s going to behave, that won’t be the problem. The problem will be that he won’t produce, contribute nearly as much as Ariza would.

On the other side, the Nuggets look exactly the same as last season. They’re still too small inside the paint and the combination of Kenyon Martin, Chris Andersen and Nene is not physical enough to compete against other powerful teams like the Lakers for example. We already have been able to see why the Aflalo move was a smart one. Mark Warkentien allowed Danthay Jones to walk away and be overpaid by the Pavers and got Aaron Aflalo to replace him doing the same things but for a lower price.

A lot of the NBA teams walked sideways during the offseason. San Antonio and Boston seem to be the only teams that really improved their chances to win it all again, so we could make the case that the Lakers and the Nuggets stand still at the same places than a year ago. LA is the fashionable pick to go to the Conference Finals and if passes that, to win it all again while Denver is the first team on the outside looking in just waiting for something weird to happen.
