Another of your favorite K-pop idols has said that SNSD’s YoonA is his ‘ideal’ girl. On the last installment of KBS show “Champagne”, Andy of Shinhwa picked YoonA out of a field of 32 of K-pop’s hottest female idols. Andy said that he likes YoonA because she is pure and innocent. Andy has been a fan of YoonA’s for a while. He mentioned back in his We Got Married days that the Girls’ Generation member was his ideal girl. If I were Solbi, I would’ve been pissed.

Andy is hardly alone in his adoration of YoonA. Nichkhun of 2PM also claimed that YoonA was his ideal girl on an episode of Sang Sang Plus. This is surprising because on “Mnet Scandal” Nichkhun had said that he preferred older women and his first girlfriend was six years older than him. Our girl in question is in fact two years younger than Nichkhun. On the premiere of Strong Heart, co-MC Lee Seung Gi also confessed that YoonA, who was a guest, was his ideal girl. Seung Gi was all shy and flustered when talking to YoonA for the rest of the show. Out of all the girls of SNSD, YoonA also has done the most solo acting jobs, appearances, and CFs.

Myself, Ryan, Lauren and Vawn went to a craft evening at The Deaf Cat cafe, where we had coffee and hot chocolate. We then to join a load of lovely friends at the pub. Its not often that there are so many people that I like to spend time with in one room! Here are a few photos:

We then walked home, and waited half an hour for food in the local kebab shop, which was horrible food, and which made me get out of bed to forcibly remove the food via regurgitation. Not pleasant… never again.

Today I had a session of Wet, on the Xbox, and I am over half way through now. I am also planning the restart of my driving lessons, which should be next week if possible! I cant actually wait to get my license… one less thing to worry about!

Depois de ver o vídeo fiquei na dúvida se o filme foi feito para as crianças de hoje ou para aquelas que assistiram aos dois primeiros filmes.

Na história Andy cresceu e está prestes a começar a faculdade e doa seus brinquedos para uma creche. Woody e Buzz Lightyear e seus amigos agora tem aprender a viver em um local lotado de crianças.

One year ago today Graham and myself created CEU and wrote out our very first blogs. Since then the blog has seen many pictures Composed, Exposed and Uploaded! We have had plenty of visitor frequent the blog, for which we are very grateful! We are now looking forward to the next year and the pictures that we are planning and the ones we are not planning on taking with great excitement!

Currently we are in the early phases of making CEU something much bigger and better than this simple blog. Early next year (hopefully!) we will have the new CEU up and running. The details of what to expect will be posted here first, so keep a keen eye out for the emerging details as they come.

To mark this special occasion I have uploaded my Gigrin Farm Red Kite photographs below. The Day started well with the sun out and the Kites looked spectacular when the sun caught there colours. Unfortunately the sun went away quickly and I was faced with much more difficult photographic conditions. Still I am extremely pleased with my results for a first trip to the farm.

The Final picture at the bottom I took with this blog in mind. I wanted to try and show the incredible number of kites that were present. All the little dots in the shot are Kites and this was only one of 3 ’stacks’ of the birds around the farm. On top of the stacks, the air above the feeding site was full of birds as well. It was such a wonderful experience and I highly recommend everyone taking a trip to see them.

Before the photos, I have another few pieces of news. I, much to Graham’s delight I’m sure, have created my very own Flickr account (link on the right)! I have been contemplating doing so for a long time, but I am always put off by the time it can take to upload pictures. To solve this problem I have purchased an export plug-in for Aperture (The program I edit my photos in). This plug-in allows me to directly export images straight from Aperture to Flickr with minimal hassle! Hopefully this export feature will mean I keep updating Flickr regularly. On top of this I have realised that I have a bit of a back log in processing my images and I have stumbled upon some really great photos that I took a while ago and haven’t processed yet. Expect to see a few of these over the coming weeks! Also don’t forget that you can keep up to date with Graham and myself more regularly via Twitter, link on the right!

Ant: Ciao Andy! Raccontaci un po’ come, dove e quando hai iniziato a maneggiare strumenti, i tuoi primi piccoli ricordi musicali e quali strumenti suoni in generale.

Andy: Quando ero piccolo arrivò un organetto a casa, ne ero affascinato e mi divertiva molto strimpellare.Come sempre, poca tecnica e molta efficacia. Nessuno a casa avrebbe
immaginato diventasse uno dei miei mestieri, ma mi hanno sempre incoraggiato.
Ho iniziato con i sintetizzatori ma il mio strumento è il sax, poi il piano, male la chitarra, mi piace andare a caccia di strumenti insoliti come il theremin o l’autoharp.

Ant: Hai avuto modo di avere esperienze musicali sia in gruppi musicali che come solista. Che differenza c’e’ quando componi e suoni in un gruppo e quando sei solista a livello emotivo e intellettuale. Cosa preferisci l’anima solitaria o quella di gruppo?
Hai dei progetti solisti all’orizzonte? Dischi?

Andy: Per quel che è stata la mia esperienza far parte di un gruppo significa interagire creativamente,
il ruolo che ho sempre preferito è quello del motivatore, ho cercato di esaltare le idee unendole alle mie, nonostante una naturale gerarchia nella quale ognuno trova la propria collocazione come meglio può. Oggi da solista mi sento libero da un lato, dispersivo dall’altro.
Sono così tante le possibilità…il mio lavoro è in ritardo perché la mia intenzione è quella di unificare musica e pittura. Non ho trovato ancora l’identità che cerco nel confezionare
il progetto, ci sto lavorando.

Ant: Parliamo delle case discografiche (argomento infimo). Credi che la tua vita sarebbe stata migliore o peggiore se non avessi dovuto a che fare con una major label ad un certo punto della tua vita? Ci sono delle lezioni che hai imparato e che vorresti condividere con i nostri giovani amici musicisti?

Andy: Penso che rivedere i percorsi col senno di poi ti permetta una manipolazione del passato così vasta che rischierei di perdere il senso. La ricerca del gruppo è stata quella di entrare in un meccanismo multinazionale in modo da potersi esprimere liberamente in un sistema che per logiche di mercato spesso non lo consente. Se ci fosse stata un po’ più di consapevolezza o di tutela
da parte dei manager forse sarebbe andata meglio, d’altronde o fai l’artista o ti occupi di affari.
Chi riesce a farlo probabilmente ha trovato una sinergia con gli addetti ai lavori più efficace.
Devo ammettere però che da parte della SONY c’è sempre stato molto rispetto verso la nostra determinazione. L’unico suggerimento ai più giovani è di non fermarsi davanti agli ostacoli del mercato. Una buona idea può conseguire a un buon business e non viceversa.

Ant: Da dove arriva la tua ispirazione quando componi musica? La musica puo’ parlare di tutto per te o di argomenti come politica/religione non vuoi parlarne nelle tue canzoni o credi che tutto sia politica alla fine.
Hai dei modelli musicali?

Andy: Le canzoni che scrivo sono presenti nella mia mente da anni, ora le sto mettendo in atto. Mi piace il percorso creativo perché non so dove mi porta. Nei testi parlo dgli stati d’animo, punti di vista interiori.
Sono infinite le ispirazioni musicali, dai Depeche Mode a David Bowie, dai Nine Inch Nails, ai Talking Heads.

Ant: Oltre a essere un musicista sei anche un pittore e artista grafico. Come riesci ad amalgamare musica e arti visive?. Credi che la musica possa essere pittura e viceversa (si puo’ dipingere con le note ecc. o suonare con i pennelli?)

Andy: Ricerco l’analogia tra le due forme d’espressione da diverso tempo, cerco di applicare lo stesso meccanismo creativo, dipingere un quadro è come arrangiare un pezzo, sì…mi ci ritrovo molto.

Ant: L’America. Come ti ha ricevuto l’America a livello artistico? Ti piace l’America? cosa ne pensi a livello artistico, sociale e culturale? Come si puo’ comparare all’Italia e Europa.

Andy: Ho partecipato a due mostre a Miami, ho avuto la possibilità di presentare il mio lavoro con la
massima piacevolezza, penso che parlare di America sia un po’ vago, per me New York è un mondo a sé e non c’entra nulla con Miami…dovrei viaggiare un po’ di più.
Mi ha colpito molto l’entusiasmo a Miami, penso che le logiche di meritocrazia siano molto più evolute rispetto all’italia…meno snob?
Mi ha altrettanto colpito la contraddizione sociale e la scalinata che divide ricchi da poveri in una distanza di sole tre vie..

Ant: So che sei anche un DJ. Che tipo di musica proponi? E’ giusto secondo te che molti DJ vengano trattati come divinita’ a scapito di tanti compositori fenomenali che non vengono notati. Ritieni che i DJ meritino il valore (e i soldi) che spesso la gente attribuisce loro?

Andy: Penso che un’epoca sia spesso rappresentata anche dai personaggi che la animano.
Negli anni settanta e ottanta i DJ avevano un’importanza totale perché divulgavano la musica che i musicisti suonavano, oggi è differente…sono cambiati i meccanismi di aggregazione.
Non ho giudizi a riguardo, penso che se un DJ raggiunge la credibilità necessaria per ricevere molto denaro sono contento per lui.
Il mio DJ-set è composto da musiche che hanno animato la mia adolescenza insieme a creazioni
attuali che la richiamano.

Ant: Che rapporto hai con la TV, come oggetto e come media. La guardi o no? Hai partecipato a programmi Tv come ti sei sentito? Ti piacerebbe fare TV di piu’ o no?

Andy: Sono molto affascinato dai documentari in tv, di notte mi ci dedico…per il resto non la seguo molto, mi sembra uno strumento utile al mio lavoro ma socialmente pericoloso.

Ant: Curiosita’ varie:
Cosa ami fare nel tempo libero sempre se ne hai? Hobbies etc.

Andy: Mi piace viaggiare, conoscere culture estranee al mio modo di vivere.

Ant: Raccontaci la giornata tipo nel tuo capannone…ti alzi che tipo di colazione fai ecc…che fai tutto il di’, cosa mangi sei vegetariano, vegano o mangi tutto?

Andy: Mi alzo e bevo caffè espresso e acqua…malsano mi rendo conto. Mangio di tutto, non sono ancora
in grado di scegliere davvero sulla mia alimentazione, però è già meglio di prima.

Ant: Che tipo sei, ami il casino, locali, rumore, citta’ o sei piu’ eremita, solitario per conto tuo? Estroverso o introverso?
Che rapporto hai con la gente? Ami la gente o la odi, ti ci trovi bene o a disagio?

Andy: Ci sono dei periodi di maggior chiusura e altri di espansione e dispersione, in genere amo la gente e so che se mi sento a mio agio in mezzo alla gente vuol dire che sono energeticamente carico.

Ant: Ti piacciono i cani o i gatti? (sei una dog-person o cat-person e perche’?)

Andy: Amo tutti gli animali preferisco i cani ma sono uno spirito libero, quindi ipotizzando una convivenza preferisco l’indipendenza del gatto.

Ant: Il tuo elemento preferito, che ti descrive? (acqua/aria/terra fuoco?)

Andy: Aria e fuoco.

Ant: Credi che il mondo finira’ nel 2012 seguendo il calendario Maya (eh eh), …credi comunque che gli esseri umani si estingueranno in un piu’ o meno prossimo futuro o no? Sei ottimista o pessimista a riguardo?
Vedi l’Universo con un certo tipo di spiritualita’ o no? Credi che in generale il livello spirituale degli abitanti della Terra si stia evolvendo anche se quello che si legge sui giornali fa pensare all’opposto?

Andy: Non penso che il mondo finirà, mi spiace che l’ipotesi del 2012 sia diventata quasi uno spot pubblicitario. A mio parere la storia andrebbe riscritta, sono così vaste le possibilità…mi limito a stare ai bordi del discorso perché è troppo ampio.
Penso che sia un’epoca di trasformazione, lo sento molto.
Credo nelle dimensioni parallele e in tutto quel che riguarda la possibilità di evoluzione spirituale
Di ogni individuo a prescindere dalle religioni o dalle scienze.

Ant: Sai cos’e’ la legge di attrazione e la applichi nella tua vita?

Andy: Penso di saperlo, mi piace molto la visione taoista a riguardo,per ora studio quella, è un lungo
percorso.

Two years from now, you’ll be watching Woodpecker Vs. Last week, I traveled to Springfield for a meeting with a group of other higher education agencies and institutions.  The topic was the long-awaited Longitudinal Data System.  This database will track Illinois students from the very beginning of their school-going days until the time they leave the system as much as two decades later. 

Of course, the point of having the information is not simply to look at it and conclude, “Wow, we have a lot of drop outs!”  All of us believe that if we can accumulate and make available for study more and better data, then we can make changes to the system that will result in better outcomes for students and for the state. 

This project will be funded by the federal government, which is a good thing.

It will require the cooperation of all four of the State of Illinois education agencies—ISBE, IBHE, ICCB, & ISAC—along with the schools; primary, secondary, and post-secondary.  It’s an ambitious project.  It is also a project that we at ISAC support for many reasons. The most important one is that we are a data-driven agency. Having access to more and better data allows us to make better policy and execute our programs more effectively. 

In addition to our insatiable craving for better information (Have I seen too many vampire movies?), the very nature of this project will require all the participants in the state’s educational process to work together.  While this is no guarantee of good outcomes, it is a necessary condition for any significant improvements in our results.

Finally, it is possible that some of the pieces of this project are ones that we at ISAC have already built or operate. In that case, there may be financial efficiencies that we and the state can take advantage of.  That, of course, will be particularly welcome in our current fiscal environment.  Two of ISAC’s great strengths are research and data processing, which also happen to be the foundation of this project.  So we are pleased to be included as participants in this new and exciting project.  There will be much more to follow as the LDS comes to life.

Genocide is so hot right now

So some airline did a fashion photo shoot for their in-flight magazine at the Holocaust Memorial in Berlin (Never Forget To Look Sexy At Gas Chamber After-Parties?). There are obviously a lot of things one could say about this, mostly along the lines of “This is the worst.” But can anyone say they’re genuinely surprised?

Let’s put this latest travesty by the fashion industry in perspective. Remember this?

Not even a month ago.

“What am I doing? Oh, nothing, just glamorizing a hateful practice steeped in the history of colonial dehumanization of an entire race of people. You know, hate crimefashion.”

Before that, there was the exploitation of poverty-stricken children as fetishized authenticity props, otherwise known as “the Slumdog Millionaire phenomenon.”

And not like fashion even needs all of these strikes against it to be the worst. Just look at the awful human beings it creates.

Másik meccsen Novak érthetlen okokból spanyolnak öltözött, amitől Kolja egy darabig azt is hitte, hogy Rafával áll szemben, felvillantak előtte a sanghaji döntő képei, és szépen nyugodtan hozta az első szettet… Aztán viszont sajnos felnézett a kivetítőre, és rájött, hogy ez bizony Novak, jaj, mely felismeréstől kicsit összezavarodott, vagy talán eszébe jutott egy másik sanghaji döntő, khm, khm, mindenesetre a második szettet elbukta, majd mindenféle – oroszoktól nem éppen meglepő – drámai fordulatok után (brék a meccsben maradásért, majd semmire v max 15re elvesztett adogatójáték) a harmadikat is. Nem kisebbítendő Novak érdemeit, aki ha lehet, még keményebben küzdött ezért, mint Fed a tegnapiért… Csak hát Kolja is, és ő kopasz, meg aranyos, meg a felesége is aranyos, meg ezek a nagy(obb) dolgok olyan ritkán szoktak neki összejönni, Novaknak meg hiába vannak szimpatikus (jó, leírtam) dolgai, ha aztán a mellére csap (satöbbi), és ökölbe szorul gyomorom. De ez egyéni szociális probléma, amúgy jó kis meccs volt.

THE CHIEF Constable of the British Transport Police said that public transport in Scotland should always be policed by his force – even if the debate on a single Scottish constabulary results in change.

He spoke of being able to “police across boundaries” when he met Justice Secretary Kenny MacAskill in Edinburgh today (Tues) to talk about the ongoing partnership between the BTP and the Scottish Government.

Andy Trotter’s comments come just a week after Met Police Commissioner Sir Paul Stephenson backed calls for radical reform of forces across the country.

And in Scotland there has been a long-running debate on the future of the country’s policing, with ex-Chief Inspector of Constabulary Paddy Tomkins calling for one massive force to be created.

“Strong partnership”

Mr Trotter took over as the Chief Constable in September this year after five years as Deputy of the organisation.

And he hopes to continue what he calls a “strong partnership” between the BTP and local forces in Scotland – saying a combination of local knowledge and sizable resources were needed to effectively tackle crime.

Mr Trotter emphasised the BTP’s ability to chase criminals around the country without having to go through reams of paperwork.

He said: “The work that we do knows no boundaries, we chase criminals across boundaries. As well as working with local police forces in the UK, we work with authorities in France and Belgium as part of policing Eurostar.

“Criminals don’t respect boundaries, and victims of crime don’t understand these boundaries either. You can get a lot of debate between police forces about whose ground a crime happened on.

“The victims don’t want to know about this debate, they don’t care. People do things at the start of their journey, they do them at the end, and they do things in between. It is important that we are able to get them wherever their crime took place and wherever they go.”

Local knowledge

He went on to say that it isn’t just this ability to “cross boundaries” that makes up effective policing, but local knowledge plays a large part as well.

And he thinks that Scotland has a good balance of local knowledge and co-operation between forces.

Mr. Trotter added: “I have found that in Scotland there is a much more corporate approach to policing. The very small forces get help when they need it from the big forces.

“What the community wants is a local force they can talk to, and they get that too.”

And that “local knowledge” is so important to Mr Trotter that he has given his area commander Chief Superintendent Martyn Ripley free reign to run the force in Scotland.

Anti-social behaviour

He said: “I give my area commander in Scotland a lot of freedom. He has targets to meet but apart from that he runs the force up here as he sees fit.

“These are local solutions to local problems. This is a very Scottish approach.”

The pair discussed the newly introduced fixed penalty notices to tackle anti-social behaviour on the rail network.

Since they were introduced in April, 162 fixed penalties have been handed out for offences such as breach of the peace and drinking in public.

And the justice secretary said that he had recently experienced how safe the railway was after dropping off a friend at Waverley train station on Saturday night.

“Good atmosphere”

He said: “I was down in this (Waverley) station on Saturday night where I was showing a friend back to a town along the road from here where we both come from and it was a remarkably good atmosphere.

“The rugby fans were going home and station was safe, secure and well policed.”
