Whatever might be the lifestyle you have maintained before, you quickly need to change it accordingl

Whatever might be the lifestyle you have maintained before, you quickly need to change it accordingly once you conceive. A healthy mother always carries a healthy child. So as a pregnant woman, it’s very important you take good care about your health. Right from the diet factor, there are many parallel factors like exercise, medication and rest which play the key role in maintaining a healthy pregnancy.Another part of changing your lifestyle is your diet during pregnancy. Make sure to drink plenty of water – about 6 to 8 glasses a day. It is not healthy to be overweight or underweight during a pregnancy but do remember that you shouldn’t diet during pregnancy. Pregnancy is not a time to be worrying about your weight! Don’t skip meals as you and your baby need as much nutrition and calories as possible, although not the fattening kind so make sure you get a balance. Junk food is great to satisfy those crazy pregnancy cravings but try not to go overboard!

Healthy pregnancy is a much longed for condition among women who are pregnant. Mere knowledge of the fact that a baby is about to arrive in the family makes one joyous. The most promising way to have a healthy baby is to have a healthy pregnancy. One can do so by adopting a healthy lifestyle. If would-be parents happen to be pursuing a healthy lifestyle even before conception, then the fetus becomes safer during early weeks of pregnancy, when a woman might not be aware of her pregnancy. In the present situation of our environment now a days there are so many health problems and concerns that weaken our immune system. This concerns and problems affect us in staying healthy as well as in our healthy diet. Health experts always consider proper nutrition, healthy diet and fitness in staying healthy. This concern is not only by our health practitioners but it needs our own awareness and careful understanding to do the best way in staying healthy.

Ectopic pregnancy is a condition in which a fertilized egg settles and grows in any location other than the inner lining of the uterus . About 1% of pregnancies are in an ectopic location with implantation not occurring inside of the womb, and of these 98% occur in the Fallopian tubes. In a typical ectopic pregnancy, the embryo does not reach the uterus, but instead adheres to the lining of the Fallopian tube. The implanted embryo burrows actively into the tubal lining. Most commonly this invades vessels and will cause bleeding. This bleeding expels the implantation out of the tubal end as a tubal abortion. Some women thinking they are having a miscarriage are actually having a tubal abortion. There is no inflammation of the tube in ectopic pregnancy. The pain is caused by prostaglandins released at the implantation site, and by free blood in the peritoneal cavity, which is locally irritant. Sometimes the bleeding might be heavy enough to threaten the health or life of the woman. Usually this degree of bleeding is due to delay in diagnosis, but sometimes, especially if the implantation is in the proximal tube it may invade into Sampson artery , causing heavy bleeding earlier than usual. An ectopic pregnancy can’t proceed normally. The developing embryo can’t survive, and the growing placental tissue may destroy important maternal structures. Without treatment, life-threatening blood loss is possible. About one in every 40 to 100 pregnancies is ectopic. Thanks to earlier diagnosis and treatment, the chance for future healthy pregnancies is better than ever before.

Pernicious anemia is a condition that results, if not the body to absorb vitamin B12 sufficient. In

Pernicious anemia is a condition that results, if not the body to absorb vitamin B12 sufficient. In this condition, known as the cells of the stomach is able to produce enough to lose from a substance to intrinsic factor. Why is it so important? Since the intrinsic factor with B12 must first connect to a module B12-intrinsic factor complex, so that the digestive system can absorb.

We know that vitamin B12, also called cobalamin, plays an important role in different processes:It helps red blood cells, nerve cells function support, and also helps build the DNA. When the immune system malfunctions and starts attacking the cells of the stomach, making the intrinsic factor to the decreased production of intrinsic factor strongly influenced B12, for the worse.

Pernicious anemia in medical circles is also known as megaloblastic anemia. The term describes the megaloblastic great that immature red blood cells in people suffering from this disease is seenmore common in people of northern European descent. Often, the concepts of pernicious anemia and vitamin B12 used interchangeably, but it is important to note that the pernicious anemia refers only to B12 deficiency, what happens if the lack of intrinsic factor.

What are the symptoms of pernicious anemia?

Weakness, fatigue, numbness and tingling in the hands feetDifficulty Walking Decrease lossNauseaTender appetiteWeight smooth tongueDiarrheaIrritabilityIncreasedHeart rate

Why is B12 important?

Although the changes in red blood cells can be made normal by supplementing vitamin B12 improved if too much time elapses before the pernicious anemia is detected, neuropathy) (nerve damage, numbness and tingling can be caused permanent. Anemia pernicious anemia is usually discovered through a routine checkup and a blood test (CBC or blood cells) at the office of the doctor. The people most vulnerable to development, andelderly; strict vegetarians who do not integrate, B12, and pregnant women.

An important note is that children breastfed by vegetarian mothers can easily develop vitamin B12 deficiency after the age of 4 to 6 months, because their reserves of the liver – which usually are many – are limited and can quickly be exhausted Because of their rapid growth rate (which translates into strong demand for B12). One last thing to think that supplementation of folic acid should be used not only in the vitamin B12, asFolic acid can effectively reduce anemia, but allow neurological (nerve) deficit in order to accelerate the progress, or even. For this reason, both vitamin B12 and folic acid should be added.

I currently have three doctors: my primary care physician, my endocrinologist, and my rheumatologist

I currently have three doctors: my primary care physician, my endocrinologist, and my rheumatologist. At present I see at least one of these doctors every 2-3 months, so I have plenty of opportunities to compare and contrast.

All three of my doctors require blood tests, and they share results which makes my life a bit easier. However, some doctors do tests in-house while others send me to a lab. There seems to be some friction about these different approaches, since one of my doctors implied that the lab process provides more reliable results. I’m not really sure how to respond to this. I find it somewhat unprofessional to criticise the process used to get test results in front of the patient. All it does is make we worry about the reliability to the many tests I go through on a regular basis. Do they expect me to stop going to doctors who don’t process bloodwork the same way? If they all used the same method would I need to get tests less often?

I joke that I can’t go within 10 yards of a doctor’s office without someone draining a vein, but it’s only half a joke. I have scarring from my earlier bloodwork (I sometimes worry that people will get the wrong idea about what I do in my free time). Baby needles have made my life more comfortable, but between constant tests and anemia I can no longer donate blood- I already “gave at the office”.

It comes back to trusting my doctors. I’m not afraid to seek a second opinion or change a doctor if I’m really unhappy or uncomfortable, and this minor conflict isn’t enough to give up doctors who I know and appreciate. It takes time to get to know a doctor (I usually need at least three or four appointments before I really get a feel for someone) and I know that I’m not always the best patient, so I’m not going to throw over a good doctor/patient relationship.

But it doesn’t stop me from worrying about the accuracy of my tests. My health is already an emotional roller-coaster, and getting improved results one month and worse results the next is aggravating at least, if not downright traumatizing. I already have a hard time factoring in all the elements that affect even one of my conditions, so this sort of uncertainty makes it even harder to get a grip on my progress (or lack thereof).

I think that mainly I need to stop relying on lab results so much and focus more on how I feel. It’s like looking at numbers on the scale- it’s really only a guideline because there are so many factors that can impact results on a given day; it’s not in my best interest to get too hung up on the numbers since things shift from one hour to another, much less day-to-day or week-to-week. This isn’t entirely encouraging, but is somewhat comforting. Does that even make sense?

Right now, there isn’t a whole lot of it for the usual, obvious reasons, but I’m trying to change that.

After a couple rough weeks and some regression as far as inflammation is concerned, I am reassessing my exercise goals and slowly restarting. Right now, I am doing one hour a week with my trainer doing Qigong for balance and stretching, and light weights to build strength and control. Incredibly, I have started to work with my first kettlebell! It’s only 15 lbs. and the handle is too small for my paws, but it’s more than I ever expected to be working with, so that’s pretty exciting. My trainer is a good friend who recently completed her certification and is focusing on women’s fitness, so this is a learning experience for both of us. The weight training is good for strengthening the muscles around my joints and pain management, and I definitely have more “good days” the weeks when I work out than when I don’t (although that can be hard to remember when I’m exhausted and trying to get on a treadmill). Right now I can only afford one session a week (cost in both money and energy is high) but I always feel better for doing it- I *know* that I’m doing something good for my body.

The other half of my (sparse) exercise regimen is one day of cardio a week. Right now that’s 20+ minutes on the treadmill at 3.5 mph or higher. Not much, I know, but I was walking 5ks last year and and I want to build back up to that. I know that I need to do more, but I also don’t want to try and do everything at once and hurt myself or burn out, so I am focusing on these two areas for now.

I also need to get back on track with what I eat. In the past I have done Weight Watchers and SparkPeople with varying levels of success. While both programs are excellent for different reasons, between food allergies, high cholesterol, anemia and lactose intolerance, there’s more that I need to track than is included in most online tools. I tried The Hackers Diet recently (being a geek by nature and trade) but have to confess that I have fallen off updating my spreadsheets. I will get back to this in the near future, but for now I’m focusing on small steps starting with tracking how many servings of water I have every day on a calendar and my daily weight each morning. Keeping hydrated helps with my inflammation and joint pain, and it’s an easy change to get back into. Once it becomes a habit again then I’ll make further changes.

Ideally I’d like to add a second cardio session and an hour of yoga into my week, plus track food again. It’s amazing how easily a few bad days (or a couple holidays) can derail a maintenance schedule. I still have that early morning hour that looks like it would be great for yoga, but I’m still slowly adjusting to staying awake at that time rather than crawling back into bed. I am sitting on my exercise ball again in the mornings, which is good for my back and provides inadvertant stretching in the morning to help get some of the kinks out. It really makes me realise how much I could be doing and haven’t been- no wonder my weight has gone up.

However, many people with pernicious anemia levels in the blood is abnormally low vitamin B12.

A study in the Journal of the American Geriatrics Society showed that elderly people have called the blood levels of a chemical homotranscobalamin II which leads to vitamin B12 inCells, so that must have blood levels exceeding the levels of normal tissue.

From below the normal blood levels of vitamin B12 does not exclude vitamin B12 deficiency, the diagnosis of pernicious anemia is often late in the disease, after many people have suffered permanent nerve damage. According to a report of the Archives of Internal Medicine, two percent of Americans over 60 and low blood levels of vitamin B12, but the incidence of vitamin B12 deficiency caused nerve damage in largePeople are much higher than that, sometimes up to 50 percent. Also, many older people are actually diagnosed with dementia due to a lack of vitamin B12 that taking supplements of vitamin B can be cured suffer.

B12 deficiency can cause heart attacks, so that all people over 60 should be screened with blood tests for vitamin B12 and those with normal levels of B12 and symptoms of nerve damage or arteriosclerosis also a blood test be calledHomocysteine.

Many people can not adequately absorb their vitamin B12, with a diet, because B12 is not enough food.
Almost always, that may not have a cure by taking a pill of 1000 micrograms of vitamin B12 once a day. As a rule, do not need to receive injections. Low B12 are also diseases and gastrointestinal infections such as Helicobacter pylori associated, for example.

Around the fifth, sixth day, in addition to intense pain, I started hallucinating, seeing ghosts, especially during the night, early morning hours. By the eighth day, I could barely talk or swallow. My left tonsil, swollen twice its size, completely covered with white streptococcus, obstructing my throat.

Twenty minutes later, when I arrived home, the swelling and strep had completely disappeared. The next day when I saw the doctor, he was amazed that I had healed so quickly, that mine was the worst case of tonsillitis he had ever seen. He told me how lucky I was that I did not seriously hurt myself (burst tonsil, death). Everything, including natural therapies, personal philosophies, etc. has its limitations. Not seeing a doctor would have been a big mistake. “Pride cometh before the fall”.

The following is my story, so far. At age three, I knew I was going to be a “doctor” despite disliking doctors (needles). At age ten (1962) and lasting the next seventeen years was another awakening, my mother’s breast cancer, treatment and subsequent side effects: radical mastectomy (removal of entire breast and surrounding tissue), extensive radiation and mega-chemotherapy. I accompanied her on her weekend trips into the city, sat in the hospital, radiation ward watching her and others, wheeled in and out, the out always devastatingly worse. She suffered greatly. Her original wound, surgery, radiation burn, wound never healed. It always bled. She suffered severe edema (elephant arms), insomnia, depression and more.

I took my dream, ambition to the University of Pittsburgh (1971-1974). Midway through the second year. I became disenchanted with the program, required sciences, as I could not understand their relationship to health. I felt I was going in the wrong direction; so, I went in the opposite direction, political science, for a while.

In 1973, I read Be Here Now by Ram Dass (Dr. Richard Alpert). It changed my life. The book told the story of his transformation from Western Psychologist to Hindu (Eastern religion) mystic. I cannot say that I understood most of what I read, but what I did understand were the sections on diet and yoga. I changed my diet to vegetarian and started practicing Hatha (postural) yoga including deep abdominal breathing, daily for the next five years. The changes were immediate and positive. My skin became clearer. I had greater energy and was more relaxed.

I started reading more books on: diet, nutrition, herbs, etc. Most were anti cancer, heart disease, high protein, high fat, animal foods, and pro vegetarian. I grew up on high protein, high fat, in addition to bread, noodles, vegetables, fruit, etc. The change, transition to low protein, low fat and high carbohydrate diets: lacto ovo vegetarian, lacto vegetarian, vegan, raw foods, fruitarian, sproutarian and macrobiotic (10 years), was not too difficult. I ate less meat, eggs, cheese, milk and more fruit, vegetables, sprouts, beans, grains, etc.

I made these changes over a fifteen year period (1973- 1988). For the first five years, I felt great as I eliminated all my excess fat, cholesterol, water, etc. Then I got worse over the next several years suffering severe weight loss, impotence, tonsillitis, hair loss, insomnia and eczema. Despite my “vast” knowledge, I had gone from one extreme (overbuilt, high protein, high fat) to the other (under built, low protein, low fat). I had no control of my health. I did nit know what I was doing. I needed professional help, medical guidance, which was why I chose traditional Chinese medicine as it was not only ancient but also placed more emphasis on diet, exercise, sex, etc. unlike relatively new Western allopathic medicine (more drugs, surgery, radiation, etc.). All medicine has its place, the center, director of which is the patient (chooses the treatment).

Health is common sense. The body is made from food. The correct diet produces health, the incorrect, disease. Exercise and drugs do not cure high cholesterol, atherosclerosis, high blood pressure, etc. Less animal protein, fat and more vegetables and fruit do. Exercise, herbs, drugs and good thoughts do not build blood, cure anemia, thin skin, hair, infertility, etc. Red meat, eggs, chicken, turkey, cheese, etc. do.

I once counseled a man, early thirties, pale, low energy who had come to my store to buy iron. His Chinese acupuncturist (also an M.D., well known, respected) had diagnosed him as blood deficient, anemic and recommended iron. I told him I was also an acupuncturist, more recent, would he mind answering a few questions? How long had he been seeing the doctor? (6 months) What happened six months ago? (new girlfriend: vegetarian). He had stopped eating meat, chicken, eggs, etc. and had become weak, tired, pale and anemic.

I told him that his diet was anemic: extremely low protein, fat; that he needed to resume eating meat, eggs, chicken, etc. to build blood, energy, not iron supplements (65% of my business was supplements). He thanked me for the advice, bought the iron and asked me what I thought of his doctor, acupuncturist. I told him I would have been more impressed if his doctor had told him to stop at Burger King first before coming to the store; as needles, herbs, supplements do not build blood (TCM). Even the best make simple mistakes, which is why you always (a) get a second opinion and most importantly (b) educate yourself, be your own expert, which is why I wrote the book. on sale Amazon $15.25 click on link below

There are quite a lot of symptoms for this disease. First is that people who has the sickle-cell disease may feel pain in their chest, stomach, or bones. This happens because the sickle shaped red blood cells do not move easily through our blood vessels. Unlike the normal red blood cells, the sickle shaped red blood cells are stiff and sticky. They tend to be stuck in the blood vessels and clump together, and it can block the blood vessels. The blocked blood vessels may cause pain, tissue and organ damage, and serious infections.

The clumping of the sickle shaped red blood cells. It is sticky and stiffer, unlike the normal red blood cells

Another symptom is that people who has the sickle-cell disease gets tired easily. It is one of the common symptoms of anemia because a low number of red blood diseases mean less transportation for the oxygen to be delivered through out our body. The cells in our body need oxygen, so if there are only a few amounts of red blood cells, not much oxygen will be transported and the cells in our body may not have enough oxygen to function properly. This causes anemia to happen, and a common sign of anemia is that we get tired easily because of the lack of oxygen in our cells. Anemia may also cause fatigues too, and fatigues are also one of the symptoms in the sickle-cell disease.

And in this case, those “little things” are my vitamins.

I take my vitamins in the middle of the day so they do not counteract the thyroid medication that I take first thing in the morning. I have gotten pretty good about my pill schedule (I take various medications and vitamins four times a day) but every once in a while I forget to refill my pill case. Like this weekend. So I do not have my lunchtime vitamins today.

“How important can some OTC vitamins possibly be?” Well, there’s nothing like not having them to remind me. I take a regular multivitamin, and a calcium+d to help compensate for my lactose intolerance and just generally not getting enough d. (Most doctors recommend extra calcium for women of pretty much all ages.) I take a flax or fish oil caplet to help out my cholesterol, an iron supplement for my anemia, and a b complex which helps with my thyroid dysfunction and general afternoon fatigue. The last two are especially important to my ability to function, and I’m really feeling their lack right now.

I would chalk this up to psychological factors, except it’s happened before when I didn’t realise I had forgotten my vitamins and felt pretty awful; it’s been a bit too regular to just discount. Since I started taking lunchtime vitamins my afternoon fatigue has improved considerably, without resorting to caffeine or sweets to keep me going. Unfortunately, I’m so knackered right now I’m not sure I could even drive home. I’m going to see if I can scrounge a vitamin water to help me get through the end of the day and possible head home early.

And I’ll be sure to fill my pill case.

Well, today was the day to see the Nurse Practitioner. I told her I wanted to go ahead with treatme

Well, today was the day to see the Nurse Practitioner. I told her I wanted to go ahead with treatment and that if she really felt I needed to get a liver biopsy, I would. She told me that, since I have genotype 2B, they don’t really push liver biopsies. She said my lab tests, ultrasound, and CT scans all indicate that I most likely do not have cirrhosis. Plus the treatment success rate is so high for genotype 2b that it’s really not necessary. Now, I had told her last visit that I really didn’t want a liver biopsy, so this was kind of a change of heart for me to say I would have one if she could talk me into it. I think she was more comfortable with my desire to skip the biopsy now that she was aware of my genotype. She answered any other questions I had…which were basically concerned with time frame, logistics, etc.

I have to attend a Hep C class with other patients on Wednesday, where they would answer all kinds of questions about options, treatments, and side effects. Then she scheduled another appointment for me with her for January 12th. In the meantime, I must have a retinal photo test done and a treadmill test in cardiology. Apparently the Interferon can cause a multitude of eye problems, especially for those with pre-existing eye problems. Also, Ribavirin makes 1 in 10 people severely anemic within 2 weeks of starting it. This serious anemia could cause someone with underlying heart disease to have a heart attack. They want to make sure I don’t have underlying heart disease. As I learn more and more about the drugs I’ll become intimate with over the next 6 months, I’m reminded at every step that we are not talking about a course of antibiotics or a few Tylenol. These are very potent and potentially deadly drugs that I will be putting into my system.

I was able to get an appointment tomorrow afternoon for the retinal photography. I have to bring a designated driver, since I might have trouble driving after the test due to dilated pupils. I haven’t gotten an appointment scheduled yet for the treadmill, but I should have that done within a few weeks. When I go back to see her in January, if all the tests are normal, she will write a prescription for the drugs and show me how to take the meds. I think the Interferon is self-injected into the abdomen once a week, at least that’s what I’ve read. She also told me she’d talk to me more in January about the frequent lab tests that I am going to need to have over the next 6 months. Also I would need to see her every two weeks during treatment. We’ll see in early January and I’ll report out then.

I guess the time frame is working well for me, since I have planned to go on a cruise to Mexico departing December 27 (my birthday) and returning January 3rd. I’ll be back just in time to start treatment!

Oh, and I really should try to eat more meat and green, leafy vegetables. Easier said than done! Especially when the only thing you can stomach is coconut ring biscuits, jammy dodgers and cheese toasties…

There is no diet, herb, condition, symptom, disease, etc. that I do not know. or cannot figure out. I have questioned and counseled thousands (see resume and case histories below) and the body, structure and function is limited in number and variations as there are only two extremes.

Knowledge, simple diet and common herbs can prevent and or cure most disease.

I will tell you why you are sick (according to traditional Chinese and Ayurvedic medicines) and how to cure provided you supply me with certain information: age, symptoms, daily diet, climate, etc. I may ask further questions, as I generally require a lot of information.

Resume (followed by Case Histories)

1971-1974 University of Pittsburgh, B.A. in political science. I wanted to be a doctor, took all the required sciences for the first two years then stopped, changed direction as I did not see the medical value of my education. I was a twenty year old kid. What did I know? For a brief time (6 hours) I wanted to be a lawyer.

1984- What do you eat for breakfast, lunch and dinner?”

For ten years +, questioned and counseled his customers (300+ per week), always asking the same question, in relation to their symptoms. Most people were eating poorly, too building or too cleansing, thereby developing symptoms, diseases that were too building (overbuilt) or too cleansing (under built, cold, damp, weak). They were also taking supplements, herbs, etc. that were too building or too cleansing, relative to their conditions. WHEN I COUNSEL, I GIVE EACH PATIENT 30- 60 MINUTES UNTIL HE, SHE GETS IT.

Developed one diet (central theme plus two variations) that could prevent and or cure most disease. Irritable Bowel Syndrome, Attention Deficit Disorder, miscarriage, GIRD, eczema, anemia, sinusitis, tooth (gum and root infection), impotence, Plantar Fasciitis, neuralgia, post nasal drip, common cold, anxiety, psoriasis (current patient),  and more were all cured by this simple diet (middle diet);

1. Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS) One of my customers (health food store) was suffering from IBS. Her daily, weekly symptoms were abdominal bloating, gas, pain, headaches, loose stools, constipation, colitis (inflammation) and swelling in her arms and legs (swollen twice their size). I diagnosed her condition as a cold, damp spleen (controls digestion). Her long-term diet was cold, damp, low protein, low-fat and high carbohydrate (salads, tropical fruits, juices). The coldness of her diet had weakened, dampened her digestion, elimination, etc. producing the aforementioned symptoms. I recommended the hotter middle diet, meal plan, including spices as well as reduction in cold foods and drinks. Week by week her condition got better, hotter, stronger. Nine months later, most of her symptoms had disappeared, including the swelling in her arms and legs. She was very happy. A year later, her symptoms started to reappear. She was worried about her health and had gone to see a nutritionist who had recommended golden seal (nine capsules a day) which is a bitter herb. All bitter herbs are energetically cold. I had originally diagnosed coldness as the cause of her condition, which she re-aggravated once she started taking golden seal. I refused to sell her any golden seal.

  2. Miscarriage A long-term customer of mine had suffered several miscarriages. She was eating a macrobiotic diet (low protein, low-fat and high carbohydrate). I diagnosed her condition as blood, protein and fat deficiency. Her diet was anemic, too little building. She did not have enough blood in her womb to hold her baby. I recommended red meat (best blood builder) and chicken three to four times a week or more in addition to cooked vegetables, grains, Evening Primrose Oil (sexual organs) and Siberian ginseng (strengthens digestion). I also told her to wait four months before trying to conceive, in order to rebuild her blood. She now has two healthy boys.

3. Indigestion, Gird (gastrointestinal reflux disorder) A female customer of mine was having digestive problems. Every time she ate, she would experience abdominal bloating, gas, burping, pain and heartburn. Her diet was anemic, low protein, low-fat and high carbohydrate (salad, fruit and grains). I suggested the hotter middle diet (more protein, fat, cooked foods) in addition to fennel seeds (one-quarter teaspoon after each meal). Three weeks later, she came back and hugged me. Her digestive problems and hot flashes had disappeared. I told her (43 years old) that her hot flashes were caused not by menopause but instead by indigestion and stagnation of energy, food in the intestines. Her doctor had diagnosed her as menopausal; which I thought was a little premature

4. Eczema In 1989, I developed a bad, hideous case of eczema. It first started as a pimple, blister on my left hand, index finger. Over the course of two months it spread so that my entire left hand (back and fingers) and lower part of the arm were completely infected (cracked skin, bleeding, pus, etc.). My other hand (couple of fingers) was also affected although not quite as bad. This happened while I was going to acupuncture school. It was gross. I tried every Chinese herbal remedy. Nothing worked. My skin kept getting worse and worse. Eventually, I turned to Ayurvedic Medicine (Ayurvedic Healing, and Yoga of Herbs by Dr. David Frawley, O.M.D.), which recommended the use of spices. My diet at the time was bland, sweet and cold, cleansing. I increased protein, fat, cooked foods and spices (fennel, cumin, coriander, turmeric, ginger, etc.) while reducing juices, fruits, etc. I used a lot spice (five to seven at a time, per meal). Within three weeks, my eczema, in addition to abdominal bloating and gas cleared up. I did have eczema as a teenager, although not as serious.

5. Attention Deficit Disorder (ADD). One of my customers came to see me about her eleven-year-old daughter (very thin) who had been diagnosed with ADD. Her school wanted to put her daughter on Ritalin in addition to the drugs that she was already taking: four months of Adderall and Dexedrine. She did not know what to do. I told her to bring her daughter in and let me question her. I had never counseled a child before but I did not think it would be any different from an adult. She brought her daughter in. I sat and questioned her for an hour. There was nothing wrong with her except for poor diet and lack of attention, at home and in the school, overcrowded classrooms. I told her mother to start feeding her more protein, building foods (red meat, eggs, chicken, etc.) especially for breakfast. She was already eating grains and vegetables. I also advised fish liver oil in addition to greater personal attention. Six months later, her mother wrote me to thank me telling me how well her daughter was doing. On her recent report card, she had gotten all A’s and one B (math) without the use of Ritalin or any other drug.

He went to his doctor who told him that there was no cure. The best that he could do was operate, sew it back together; however the operation, procedure might make him temporarily incontinent (urine and bowels) and or impotent. I told him to skip the operation and just change, soften his diet (cooked vegetables, watery grains, etc.) which he did. His fissure eventually healed. His original diet was high protein, fat, starch and low vegetables.

I told her that her diet was too cold (salads, fruits, cold drinks, etc.) causing excess condensation, water to occur, accumulate and leak out her nose. I advised her to increase cooked foods, spices, etc. while reducing cold, damp foods. Her postnasal drip disappeared within days.

8. All were vegetarians (low protein, low fat (soft dairy, beans, nuts, etc.) and high carbohydrate (salads, fruits). It took me more than a year to convince them that their diets were anemic that they desperately needed to eat red meat, chicken, eggs, etc. on a regular basis. Once they started eating meat, they immediately felt better

9. Sinusitis: One of my employees was suffering from sinusitis (inflammation of the sinuses). She was vegetarian. Her diet was cold and damp which in turn weakened her spleen producing dampness, excess condensation (mucous, phlegm) in her lungs, throat, sinuses, etc. Excess fluids, mucous tend to obstruct the flow of air and fluids within the lungs, nose, sinuses, causing dryness and inflammation. I recommended the hot middle diet, including spices. Spices are hot and drying. They dry dampness, mucous, phlegm, while also stimulating, increasing blood flow. Blood is moistening. Inflammation is caused by dryness. Fire (inflammation) burns dry wood not wet wood.

10. Impotence Over the years, many men have come to see me about their sexual difficulties (inability to achieve or maintain an erection). Almost every one of them was a long-term (20- 30 years) coffee drinker (2-3 cups per day). I advised them to give up coffee, as caffeine tends to drain the kidneys, jing. The few that gave up coffee saw their erections return. I also suffered from impotence. My condition however was caused by anemic diet, as I was a long-term vegetarian (fifteen years), who did not drink coffee. My erections came back once I started eating more protein and fat (red meat, eggs, chicken, turkey, etc.), cooked vegetables and less raw, sweet, sugary foods.

11. Cold I was visiting a good friend and his wife in Fort Meyers, Fl. where his parents (great people) lived. They had flown in from Seattle where they live. When I got there, he was coughing up a storm, non-stop. He said it was his allergies. I told him it was a cold (he also had a runny nose, stiff shoulders, etc.), and that he needed to eat more hot foods at which time he held up his beer. Alcohol is hot and dry, which made his cough, drier, worse. I went into his mother’s kitchen and made him a spicy hot vegetable soup. I threw in every hot spice that I could find. I made his soup dragon hot. He gobbled the soup down (two bowls) and within twenty minutes, his cough and runny nose had stopped. Before the soup, he had been coughing every ten minutes. Colds in general are very easy to cure if you can treat, heat them in the beginning, onset days one and two.

When I counseled her, she was screaming and yelling from one anxiety attack to another. I had to teach her how to deep breathe in order to control her outbursts. I initially thought her condition was caused by excess heat. She had a plethora of heat symptoms and did not seem deficient in any way until I discovered she also had uncontrollable urination, which is a kidney yang, deficiency symptom. Kidney symptoms (Chapter 13) outweigh all other symptoms. Her condition was one of deficiency. Her long-term diet was vegetarian, anemic. She was not building, producing enough blood; therefore she became weak, dry and hot (blood, nutrients build, moisten, cool, etc.). I recommended the hot middle diet (red meat, eggs, cooked vegetables, spices, etc.) which was problem because she was a vegetarian. She would not eat red meat. I finally convinced her by asking her what she would do if it were a matter of life and death. She would not eat red meat but she would eat veal and eggs. Three days later, she called me back. I was a little nervous. I thought I might have given her the wrong diet, too hot as she was sixty years old and living in a very hot climate (FL).I picked up the phone, she asked if this was the genius. All her anxiety attacks had disappeared. She also slept better and had great bowel movements.

She could not stay; stand for too long because her feet would hurt. She had trouble walking and had to use a wheelchair to go through airports. Her condition had started several years prior. She had seen many doctors, orthopedic surgeons, chiropractor, acupuncturists, had blood work, x-rays, MRI, etc. No one was able to diagnose or help. She was blood deficient (long-term low protein, low fat and high carbohydrate diet). I recommended the hotter middle diet, red meat everyday, etc. A year or so later she was able to walk, stand and skate without pain or fear.

This is a great book. Especially if you are female, and struggle with symptoms of cellulite, being over weight, sinusitis, and chronic fatigue. Most female diets consist of diet cokes, energy bars, smoothies, and salads, not to mention ice cream, and other feel good foods.(at least mine did) Sooner or later, health problems with appear, and by switching to a hotter diet, one will begin to see the effects immediately. All of those symptoms were like connecting the dots, and I am now soooooooo relieved to have finally gotten a handle on what I should be eating, and getting rid of my chronic problems. This is a must read for anyone who wants to take responsibility for their own health!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! D.L.

GF was something I’d see on some packaging in supermarkets but never really known what it was

GF was something I’d see on some packaging in supermarkets but never really known what it was all about. GF stands for gluten-free. If you have an ill effect from gluten found in wheat, barley, rye, and sometimes oats then you know to look for GF on packaging.

Celiac disease is the common name for this digestive problem. It’s an autoimmune deficiency in which the small intestine is slowly damaged. This makes a person malnourished because the body is unable to absorb the protein and nutrients from the foods eaten. About 2 million people suffer from this disorder but are unaware or misdiagnosed. Some patients can go ten years before knowing that celiac disease is what they have. This condition can be passed off as other gastrointestinal issues such as lactose intolerance or IBS and only a blood test and a small intestine biopsy can verify this as celiac disease.

Celiac disease is a genetic one so if a family member is diagnosed others may have it as well. It’s interesting to note that Irish, Italian, and UK descendants are most affected. Also, a trigger of stress, pregnancy, or exposure to gluten before three months of age can attribute to developing this gluten intolerance. Symptoms include chronic diarrhea, unexplained weight loss, anemia, fatigue, constipation, and vomiting.

The only treatment for this, unfortunately, is to avoid foods that have gluten in it. Easier said then done, I’m sure, because gluten is found in everything- pizza, pasta, cereal, and most processed foods… but if one thinks of gluten as a poison I guess this horrific task seems easier. Not only does the celiac person have to read labels more than a mediocre health-conscious person does, they have to worry about cross-contamination and gluten in other products such as condiments, medicines, mouthwash and even cosmetics… Yes a person with a gluten intolerance has to be OCD because even the tiniest bit of gluten can explode into bloating, chronic diarrhea, and/or cramps for days or even weeks.

It helps that labeling for GF products started a couple of years ago, but it is still recommended to read all ingredients all the time. The good news is that fruits, vegetables, fish, meat, and rice do not have gluten so ease and variety can be given to those foods. And just because breads, pasta, and cereals may contain gluten, there are products made from soy, pea, potato starch, and corn that could be easily used instead. Puffed corn, hot cereals made from soy or hominy flakes, and rice crackers and pastas are just a few examples of what a person with gluten intolerance will be able to eat.

Of all the disorders associated with food, I could see how being celiac could be a pretty bad one. From my understanding there are many recipes for substitutions on the Web and even support groups with people experiencing the same type of thing.

I’d like to thank my source Celiac Disease for helping me to understand this condition better.

Anemia is a comon result of various cancers, it also could be seen after chemotherapies and other conventional therapies.

Many cancer patients seek acupuncture as a complementary therapy when they get conventional oncological therapies, such as various chemo, radiation, surgical treatments.

We have several cancer patients under acupuncture long-term treatments.

One patient had very bad anemia, after 2 year acupuncture treatments, her Hb improved from 5 g to 12.5 (recently). And her complexion improved a lot.

One patient under chemotherapy, his WBC droped down to 1,500, after two session acupuncture in one week, before his MD considered using drug to stimulate blood production, his WBC already got up to 6,500.

Our patients also told us, after acupuncture, their energy level goes up, more relax and happier, acupuncture eliminates some uncomfortable from other therapies, help them tolerate more chemoand other strong treatments.

I feel like compared to what I hear from other ladies who have been pregnant that my pregnancy sympt

I feel like compared to what I hear from other ladies who have been pregnant that my pregnancy symptoms have been pretty mild. However, I have had a few, so here they are.

Cravings-

Anything sugar! One night I had to have strawberry shortcake. I went to the grocery store with my dad at 10PM to get all the ingredients. Soft serve ice cream! We went to Vancouver and Seattle for our Babymoon, and that’s all I could think about until I finally found it. I think about soft serve almost every day. My anti-craving has been chinese food! It has sounded disgusting ever since about week 10 of pregnancy. The smell of it makes me sick. I usually really like chinese food so I’m hoping that this symptom is only temporary.

Heartburn-

I have had a couple of bouts with this. A little bit probably around 20 weeks for a couple of weeks, and it’s just started up again. It’s not fun and there’s not too much you can do about it. At least Tums have calcium.

Leg Cramps-

While sleeping. Probably started around 20 weeks. I feel like I need to stretch my legs and when I do I get a Charley horse. Some nights it happens a few times and it is not a good feeling.

Fatigue-

In the first trimester, all I could do was go to work and sleep. I literally had no energy, I couldn’t even make myself dinner when I got home. Thankfully my husband picked up the slack during this time and I didn’t starve.

Anemia-

Third trimester 28 weeks is when I found out.

Back Pain-

Around 20 weeks is when it was the worst. It was in my very lower back pretty much at the top of my butt. My chiropractor made it feel a million times better though and I have been feeling pretty well for the past few weeks. I haven’t had to make a trip to the chiropractor in probably 2 months.

Pregnancy Brain-

I seem to forget everything lately. The worst ‘pregnancy brain incident’ I’ve had so far was the weekend we moved 3 weeks ago (27 weeks pregnant)… I got off of work on a Friday when I realized that my gas tank was on ‘e’ and I needed to make a stop at the gas station. Thanks to my wonderful husband I was balancing a beautiful bouquet of flowers and also realized that we were out of toilet paper at home and with the move wouldn’t have a chance to go to the store anytime soon.

I balanced the flowers on the seat, got out of the car, put the pump in the tank and ran in the store. I grabbed the tp, and got in a pregnancy conversation with a chatty clerk.

On my way out, I thought to myself, if my husband is at the new place I’ll stop by with these flowers so I won’t have to balance them when I have a car full of moving stuff later (I didn’t have keys to the new place yet).

I got in the car with the tp, put the flowers in my lap and dialed my husband and placed him on speakerphone. As I’m driving away I hear a loud noise, and wonder what it is… Well turns out it was the gas pump, I never took it out of the tank Out of nowhere there was a lady in an orange jacket taking the pump out of the car. Apparently I caused quite the scene as there were people running into the gas station ’she’s driving off with the gas pump!’

The lady in the orange jacket told me to go inside to give my information… I had to wait in line and of course everyone had something to say to me… I was mortified, but tried to compose myself. The clerk told me,’If I were you I would have driven off’ as she told me that it would cost $1,000 to repair the pump. Just what I needed.

I kept telling myself, s*** happens, it is what it is, there’s no way I can go back and change it, it was an accident. Despite saying this over and over to myself, I started to get a little teary eyed. When I arrived home my husband was chatting with the neighbors who didn’t know we were moving. Jon, my husband’s friend was helping us with the move and he said ‘Hey how’s it goin Lolls?’ very cheerfully. I just burst into tears. I told him that I was really crying for no reason, and started crying/laughing. I mumbled to him what happened and he kinda had a chuckle.

At this point my husband walked in and didn’t know what to think. He couldn’t tell if I was hysterically crying or if I was laughing. I mumbled the story to him as our neighbor peeked in to say congratulations as she didn’t know I was pregnant. She must have thought I was nuts….

Thankfully, here we are 3 weeks later and I haven’t heard a peep from the gas station. After talking with a bunch of friends I found out that this is pretty common and it should not cost $1,000, some gas stations just try to scam you.

This blog is made for my science project, which is genetic disorders. We’re supposed to pick a genetic disorder and discuss it somewhere (can be in brochures, blogs, etc), and I decided to make a blog and post stuff about the sickle-cell disease. Anyone knows anything about it?

Well anyhow, I’m going to post a lot about the sickle-cell disease, and I will also post a couple of things about diseases that are related to blood like anemia and leukimia (thing is, this blog will contain blood diseases).

Sooo I guess that’s it, happy reading!

Sometimes I must treat a patient without knowing the exact diagnosis. Sometimes thongs go upsettingl

Sometimes I must treat a patient without knowing the exact diagnosis. Sometimes thongs go upsettingly wrong.

When we started Nicco on the prednisolone and antibiotic, I still did not have a diagnosis why he was jaundiced, anemic, attacking his own blood, and many, many tests had come up negative or inconclusive. With the prednisolone, Nicco ate better, felt better, the anemia started to resolve, the jaundice resolved. We were on to something good!

Then an 8 inch patch of skin from the back of his neck to his shoulder and down his arm just ripped open. No kidding! My assistant was gently holding him, when a crack opening up in his skin over the shoulder on the left, and the skin just slid back 4 inches like cellophane pulling off a loaf of bread. Then another crack opened over his right shoulder. The epithelium- the outer top layer of skin that holds hair, was so thin I could see light through it. And, by the way, Nicco was furious about this whole weeks in the hospital an intravenous thing. He had had enough!!

So, here I am, my beloved patient on the table in front of me, his mom standing there (she had come for a visit and was thinking of taking him home that night). Yours Truli, my assistant, and Nicco’s mom just watched this eruption of the surface of his skin break into cracks, like the 2012 crust heaving and splitting.

“Thank G*d that happened here!” was the first thing anybody said. “If that would’ve happened to me at home, I would have fainted, maybe died.” Me too. (Another one of those things I think, but I can’t say for the sake of professionalism.)

Okay. Now, if you’re a veterinarian, you’re thinking, “this is real bad.” That’s what the dermatopathologist told me, too. I cut a couple of biopsy samples from the edges of the cut skin (figuring, I might as well get a diagnosis.) I reached for the sterile surgical glue, which I had almost zero hope would actually stay in place and gently peeled the skin back over the underlying fat, glued it in place, gave antibiotics, and crossed everybody’s fingers for good luck.

Of course, the next day, the skin had reopened. I reluctantly put Nicco under sedation (I didn’t want to, he had just had massive jaundice and organ dysfunction and the most likely thing causing the skin problem was a drug reaction, but I had to). You just cannot live without good skin; the skin is the largest organ of the body.

I took tiny sutures used to sew the clear cornea on the surface of the eye, and delicately sewed the skin into place. By now, the skin was purplish in color, and I was sure it would just slough off. But I had to try. Nicco wore a little shirt (he despised it.) But he was eating and drinking, and had not broken with a fever. I weaned him down on the prednisolone pending the pathology results because my most likely theory was either the medication caused the skin reaction, or the unknown disease did in the first place.

The dermatopathology revealed microhemorrhages throughout the blood vessel bed underneath the skin, The disconnect n the microvascular supply had caused the skin the thin and whither and eventually rip. That all sounds great, but it really did not tell us why it started in the first place, or how to prevent it from spreading over his whole body. The dermatopathologist felt it was not a drug reaction, and it resembled nothing she had ever seen before; she sent the samples for another opinion. The second cat dermatopathologist concurred with the first and was equally mystified.

Meanwhile, Nicco was at home, and coming to the hospital every 2-3 days for me to check under his shirt and make sure all his skin wasn’t falling off or infected. It tore open a tiny bit after a few days, but we left it alone. He got his shirt off one night and clawed a 2 inch gash, which I surgically glued shut. 3 weeks into this skin tearing part of the saga, I noticed that Nicco still sometimes had fleas on himself.

“You know, fleas may have triggered this problem in the first place. You really MUST get rid of every flea on him and in his room in your house.”

Here’s the deal: I gave him a Capstar prescription flea pill in the hospital which kills every flea on him. Then, when he went home, he went in a tile-floor bedroom, which mom had flea sprayed. I told her,get IGR (Insect Growth Regulator) products, like VetChem brand or Zodiac brand at the pet store. Well, she sprayed under the bed, she upended an upholstered chair and sprayed that, there was no closet, no hiding places for fleas. Yet Nicco still had some fleas.

After 2 weeks of me trying to figure this out, and his mom trying to get the room cleaned, we figured it out!

“What do you mean IGR? I got this stuff at the supermarket. It says it’s for fleas.”

OMG! Did I not say?….Did I not write in a letter?….Did I not provide a handout?….she never really listened before. Then all of a sudden, she clicked on the IGR part and I helped her pick out the right flea spray. No more fleas!!! Yay!

After 23 wek in his shirt, the purple area started to turn pink. The skin thickened up. After a month, we tried without the shirt on. Nicco was fine! The dermatopathologist called to check up on “the case” and see what the autopsy showed.

“He made it; he’s fine!”

“What? That never happens! But I’m happy for him!”

Honestly, I’ll never know for sure what made Nicco sick. A weird toxin in the garage that we couldn’t find? A disease spread by fleas? An immune system dysfunction that righted itself? And feline Fragile Skin Syndrome is a death sentence. But miracles happen, especially when you don’t give up!

Anemia symptoms are normally a pale skin and gums with fatigue. The causes can be many and varied, but the effect is that the reduced haemoglobin in your blood prevents the right amount of oxygen from being delivered to your cells.

Another ways to become Anemic is through the excessive and continual loss of blood. Certain people are more prone to becoming Anemic than others. For example, pregnant women, who need to take twice as much the amount of iron as a normal person.

If the anemia is caused by a bad diet, then the obvious thing to do is to start eating proper, nutrient dense food. A super food, supplement such as blue green algae, will also speed up the deficiency.

Autoimmune disorders can lead to the immune system attacking and damaging blood cells inside the bone marrow. Treatment is in the form of drugs that will suppress or control a hostile immune system. Examples of drugs: anti-thymocyte globulin and cyclosporine.

Anaemia treatment is vital as, left untreated, it could develop into more serious diseases that could be life-threatening. In the majority of cases anaemia can be treated by improving your diet and by taking iron or folic acid supplements as these are lacking in someone who is anaemic.

One of the major risk factors of anemia due to iron deficiency is experiencing heavy menstrual bleeding. Usually teenage girls do not have sufficient iron intake to compensate for the loss that occurs during menstruation. This is because they are more concerned about how they look and what they eat.

Remember, iron deficiency can cause your teenager to do poorly at school. He or she can suffer from memory loss, show problems with verbal learning, have attention and alertness problems and end up getting low scores in math.

Anemia’s most common symptom is therefore tiredness, because the body does not get enough oxygen. The body makes these cells within the marrow of large bones. The marrow is in the center of the bone. In the normal course of red blood cell life, old RBC’s are eliminated and the body must be able to make new ones.

Anemia is a condition that is caused due to the lack of red blood cells and it usually causes the person to be weak and fragile. The most common type of anemia that is found in people is iron deficiency anemia and this condition can be easily rectified using home remedies and alternative therapies.

Ayurveda is a popular alternative therapy which has cure for many ailments including the chronic ones and also anemia. Ayurveda highly recommends the consumption of fruits like banana, honey, oranges and beetroot juice. All these are great sources of iron and also speed up the absorption of iron into the body.

However, most of the ayurvedic recipes are based on the vegetarian diet principles and rarely does this treatment method advocate intake of any non vegetarian food items.

White blood cells fight infection, so too few of them can cause a person to develop illnesses more readily. Bleeding within the blood vessels is prevented by the formation of blood clots, and platelets perform this vital function. Without properly formed blood clots the individual can bleed to death.

Your best prevention is to stick to a healthy balanced diet making sure that you include proper sources of iron as well as vitamin and B12 which are all essential to the production of healthy red blood cells.

Anemia is a condition that develops when your blood lacks sufficient healthy red blood cells. These cells are the most important transporters of oxygen to organs. If red blood cells are too deficient in hemoglobin, then your body isn’t getting adequate iron. Symptoms of anemia — like fatigue — occur because organs aren’t getting sufficient oxygen.

Anemia is the largely common blood condition in the U.S. It affects about 3.5 million Americans. Women and people with chronic diseases are at increased risk of anemia. Valuable factors to remember are:

some forms of anemia are hereditary and infants may be affected from the moment of birth.

Women in the childbearing years are particularly susceptible to a form of anemia called iron-deficiency anemia because of the blood loss from menstruation and the increased blood supply demands for the duration of pregnancy.

Seniors also could have a greater risk of developing anemia because of poor diet and other medical conditions.
