{Escape to...} Los Angeles

In 2007 I came to the States for the first time, and I thought it will be my last time as well. I have never been so wrong as that time. One of the destinations during my USA adventure was Los Angeles. I planned to stay in LA for 7 days, but after 3 days when I saw all what I wanted to see I left to San Diego – but this is story for another post. I have been in LA for 4 days and day and a half of that was pouring. It almost never rains in LA and it was one of the biggest rains I’ve seen. It didn’t stop me from seeing what I wanted though.

I hiked to see the Hollywood Sign – I know it is nothing impressive but definitely worth seeing.

Of course I wondered on the Walk of Fame in search of some cool stars

I could not miss going to see Beverly Hills as well. As a teenager I watched ”Beverly Hills 90210″ so I just had to go there and see what is it all about.

The first night I took a guided tour organized by the hostel I stayed at to see Los Angeles panorama. Seeing this big city glowing in the dark made a big impression on me.

Santa Monica – oh yeah! Beach this is what life is all about. Ok, maybe not all about but definitely I had fun.

One more confession: I watched a lot of “Baywatch” back in the day. Oh all those dreamy lifeguards.

Los Angeles is definitely very interesting and entertaining place but it never had a chance to steal my heart. I like coming back there but it is not my favorite place for sure.

{Random Facts From My Life} Dear Dad

Dear Dad,

I thought of you today, but that is nothing new. I thought about you yesterday, and days before that too, I think of you in silence, i often speak your name. All I have memories and a picture in a frame, your memory is a keepsake, from which i’ll never part.

Today would be my dad’s birthday and I would call him and wished him “WSZYSTKIEGO NAJLESZEGO” (Happy birthday). He is gone now and I miss him a lot. I think about him every day and wish to see him, or talk to him again. He passed away so unexpectedly over a year ago since then I’m trying to get myself together – not easy. I came across this quote above so many times that I just had to use it in this post.

A few weeks ago my husband and I went to Free Flight – Exotic Bird Sanctuary in Del Mar. It is a great place where you can learn about all the beautiful flying creatures. The best part is that you can interact with the birds – touch them, feed them, and etc. We spent there about 4 hours enjoying company of all the majestic birds. Here is one of hundreds pictures I took that day.

I hope some day (some day soon) this quote affect my thinking.In last year with my dad passing away, being far away from my family and friends I lost my confidence, enthusiasm, and happiness. I find myself comparing and wishing to be as good as someone else. I know who I am, I am just lost at this moment. I’m looking for cure. Magic cure that one day will bring joy into my life. I know time heals all wounds, but how long will it take? I’m repeating these quote to myself for weeks now hoping one day I will see beauty of our world again.

Tired, Overwhelmed, and Burned Out – this is how I feel at this moment. But I know it is all for the better and THE BEST IS STILL YET TO COME. We are geting ready for a 5,5 month trip to Europe, my husband is working on his new business, I’m working my both jobs, learning photography and post processing, and taking care of the usual daily stuff – it looks like there aren’t enough hours in the day. I just say to myself it is only 2 months more and our lifetime adventure will start. It is worth to go through these because at the end it will be an amazing step into our next stage of our lives.

{Saturday thoughts} Where do you look for inspiration?

I’m in need of inspiration. I’m not saying that I have an artist block, because that is not the case. I get inspired tons of times during the day; while listening to the radio or reading something online. When I walk puppies or when I find myself in a new cool place. The only problem is that one moment is my inspiration. Few minutes later it is gone. Most of the time I’m driving, walking, reading or do something else when it happens and I can’ write it down or make any type of a note for myself to look into later. Being as busy as I’m right now with 2 jobs, getting ready for our half a year or longer trip, getting better at photography and working at my happy critter project takes so much time and so many thoughts are coming through my mind that my inspirations get lost. I hate it! But what’s the most frustrating is that when I finally find time to be creative and work on my art/ideas my mind is blank. It needs break, it just shuts off. Doesn’t matter how hard I try to focus on it, it is not there. I can’t wait when I will finally have time to breath the air of my creativity.

Where do you find inspiration when you need it?

Few weeks ago David from iPhone Photographer and Shanon from Seeing Spots Photography announced Mini Challenge that I think was pretty cool. I followed all the instructions in their challenge and here is one of my submitted pictures. I really love the colors I received after few adjustments in Aperture, which I just got and I’m still learning it. To see full gallery of this mini challenge check out David‘s blog.

When I first time saw video of this little guy I couldn’t stop smiling. I’m following his YouTube channel for over a year now. Every time something new is posted it surprises me and makes me smile. I think he is the smartest puppy ever. I know how much time dog training requires and I admire his owner for doing such an amazing job. I took this picture 2 years ago on one of my photo trips to La Jolla Cove in San Diego. I had so much fun watching pelicans for a few hours, they are such an amazing birds. This particular pelican is the Brown Pelican.

It is my 100th post. WOW! I have to celebrate it . I’m so proud of myself. I had slowed down for last few weeks but I’m still here. I’m unbelievably busy recently. Working 2 jobs and helping to build my husband’s business while getting ready for our 5,5 month trip to Europe is really time consuming. This month will be really busy but when September starts it should slow down. So I just can’t wait to have more time and share more stuff with you.

For today’s color palette I chose one of my favorite pictures. I have it printed out and hang on one of my walls. I love how colorful it is and the angle and the composition of it. Hope you like it as well.
