Animé par une calligraphe spécialiste de la calligraphie occidentale, cet atelier s’inscrit dans la continuité des animations réalisées par la bibliothécaire Elisabeth, tout au long de l’année, auprès des  scolaires.

Chacun pourra pratiquer l’écriture à la plume carrée en alliant technique et créativité, et repartir avec sa réalisation (autour des thèmes de Noël et du nouvel an par exemple, ou encore autour des patronymes).

C’est une expression.

“Ménager la chèvre et le chou“, c’est aussi le nom de l’énigme proposée avec notre exposition “Voyage autour du goût“.

Un homme, propriétaire d’un loup, d’une chèvre et d’un chou, se trouve devant l’obligation de leur faire traverser une rivière.

Le pont, qui est fragile, ne lui permet de transporter qu’un seul élément à la fois.

Comment va-t-il s’arranger pour faire traverser la rivière aux trois éléments, sachant que la chèvre risque de dévorer le chou, et le loup de dévorer la chèvre, s’ils se retrouvent seuls ?

I was waiting in the classroom for my Drawing class´final note when a good classmate of mine showed me in his laptop The Whitney Music Box; animations made with software and which resembles the Windows Media Player´s ones The Whitney Box is way more simple but, there´s something about watching the colored dots which change it´s rhythmics according to the played song. Then you realized Baroque music trends to have regular and easy to follow patterns,  while other kind of songs patterns are more erratic.

Don’t worry it will get better. My animation will get better as I improve over time with a bit more practice. Still, I’m proud of my first time. For the past year, I’ve been raving about the possibility of me going into animation. I was going to enroll in Animation Mentor, work for Pixar, and become some great animator. Well, let’s hope the last is true, but honestly I think I’m in love with Dreamworks right now. I actually was turned down from Animation Mentor and neither Pixar nor Dreamworks will probably want me for the next few years, but I’m working at it.

After talking such a good game about learning animation, I finally bought the software. It took me months to be able to afford my monitor and all the computer parts, but finally I purchased everything, including the Jason Ryan Tutorials. With all of this, I was ready to start animating.

However, my life is filled with obstacles and it took me a month to learn the basics. Because most of Jason’s tutorials are in Maya 2008 and I knew nothing about the program, I was completely lost trying to learn things. Still, a little dedication, a sprinkle of not sleeping, and a hand full of reading everything possible from forums to Maya’s help menu, I learned everything that I needed to. Actually, I learned everything that I could afford. Jason’s tutorials are a bit out of my price range for right now because I’m a full time student, but I bought the beginner’s modules and two Webinars to make up for my absolute confusion.

So, basically my animation is self taught. I found a club online that allows animators to post their work every month in a competition. It is a great website because it provides you with an 11 seconds clip to bring a character to life. I originally planned to teach myself animation until January. Then, I was going to participate in the competition. However, I realized that I could benefit more from the feedback of others so I decided to work on November’s sound clip.

I love the club. The people are nice and help you with questions if you post to the forums, and the clips are ridiculous fun to animate to. There are some people that always manage to give negative feedback, but there are others that give good constructive advice. I listen to some and avoid others, but all-in-all it is a huge learning experience.

For my clip I decided to create two characters. (Yes I was a bit ambitious for my first animation). I wanted to show the reaction of another character to a guy that sounds completely out of his mind. Because I don’t know rigging and had access to some chairs and a desk, I thought I could make it a blind date. I know there are some problems with the animation, but since I was learning a lot this round, I made some poses that were difficult to undo. I also mask some of my lack of ability with simple movements.

All of the yapping above was a long explanation to introduce the video below. Feel free to comment on it. I started learning in October so I’m pretty proud to have moved along so well. Hopefully, I can get a lot better at it though because there’s a lot of room to improve.

Je m’intéresse aujourd’hui à un jeune graphiste/webdesigner, Julien Canavezes.

Tout d’abord sa charte graphique et son univers sont très bien présentés et cohérents, il réussit à affirmer son style sans que cela ne soit trop encombrant pour l’utilisateur. On remarquera également que son site est déployé en plusieurs interface pour facilité l’accessibilité à l’ensemble des internautes ( Page en flash, en html, un blog … ).

La navigation est agréable, elle se décompose en 2 parties, l’utilisateur navigue et découvre les projets du graphiste tout en ayant en vue la navigation principale. Les roll over avec des animations (bandeau rose sur les menus …) permettent de conserver un certain dynamisme au sein du site.

De plus les animations ( qui précèdent l’entrée dans le site lui même) sont également très bien développées.

Petit bémol cependant pour la taille de l’interface qui n’est malheureusement pas adaptée au grands écrans (type 20″ ou 24″). Ceci dit la qualité du graphisme compense amplement ce petit détail!

Quand ce sera possible, un point sera fait sur les rencontres du week-end à venir afin que tous les licenciés (ou autres) puissent venir encourager leurs “collègues”.

Cette soirée était proposée, la semaine passée, par la bibliothèque municipale, en partenariat avec 3 associations de la solidarité de la commune : Apalef, Baguisama et Lacim.

Chacun a présenté un livre de son choix, BD, roman, essai, contes, avec des extraits lus à haute voix.

La soirée a été un succès et a permis d’aborder avec beaucoup de sensibilité la situation souvent difficile des immigrés, sur lesquels repose, de plus, l’attente et l’espoir immenses des compatriotes restés au pays.

Un jus de bissaps, jus à base de fleur d’hibiscus, spécialité du Burkina Faso, préparé par Evelyne, a clôturé la soirée de manière conviviale.

I wasn’t too happy with the girl, the angle of the lenses was too drastic for a good animation. However I know I have a lot of ferris wheel fans, and I liked the wheel and the pond, so I included it.
