Section 1: Episodes watched today

• Uchuu Kyoudai 12

The secret behind Mutta’s 3 am guess is revealed! He says that he saw the distance traveled on the bus’s odometer and calculated using an average speed of 45km/h. HOWEVER IN TRUTH IT WAS JUST BECAUSE HE SAW THE CLOCK ON THE BUS WHILE CONFIRMING THE DRIVER’S BALDNESS.
Does he deserve credit? LOL WELL AT LEAST HE CAME UP WITH SOME IMBA THEORY FOR 3AM, I think he deserves that part of it. Considering that no one else bothered to check the time on the bus, I guess he DOES deserve it, although the story is fabulously crafted.

Section 2: Day 22 of 30 day challenge

Day 22 is ‘an anime you stopped watching because it got worse.’

Basically, a dropped anime. I’ve dropped a few anime here and there, but not really because it got worse, but simply because it didn’t interest me.

The one that I actually dropped when I was almost to the end is Maji de Watashi ni Koi Shinasai!!

I dropped it at episode 10, there were a total of 12 episodes. At the start, I could still bear to watch it, but after a while it became kind of a chore. Still, I continued just to see maybe the ending might surprise me or something, but when up to episode 10 and it was still boring, I decided that I just don’t want to watch it anymore. For those that have watched it, I applaud you for your effort to sit through this. It was simply fanservice (with censors lolfail) and the storyline is weak and sudden. For the first few episodes it was all fanservice and plotless humor with a bit of foreshadowing here and there, but after that everything started going downhill when they failed to meet the foreshadows, random plot and plotholes, stupid reasons for fighting etc. This is one of the reasons why I don’t really like the action-genre. If you can’t come up with a decent reason to fight, then why fight in the first place? Fighting it out because a stupid personal reason? Fighting it out because you think that you shouldn’t be selfish? Fighting it out because you think the love of your life won’t forgive you? YES I’M LOOKING AT YOU YUUJI (from Shakugan no Shana). The only reason I dislike SnS is because of a weak reason for fighting. Honestly, its just one huge-ass misconception from Yuuji’s side. If he’d just sit down and have a nice talk with Shana, I’m pretty sure all this wouldn’t have happened.

Back on topic, I really hate pointless action. That is all.

F’YEA THEY’RE FINALLY GONNA RELEASE THE MOVIE! Though I’m afraid that it might be the same case as with the K-On! Movie, where even almost 6 months after its release there still isn’t a torrent for it. =(

I just did a google search for it.
Well, it looks like we’ll have to wait for the BD/DVD to come out first. Hopefully the one with Nanoha A’s will be a direct-to-BD/DVD and we can get the Movie asap! I can’t wait to see Signum and Vita, hopefully their weapons won’t change much and they get more details to their armor. So psyched for this!

Starting off with Sankarea
Having been found out, Rea worries about her stay at Furuya’s house. Furuya’s dad agrees almost straight away and everything goes fine. For now.
Furuya and Rea go out for a walk one night and Rea saves Furuya, but also accidentally injures his elbow. While licking the wound (sterilizing, she says) things suddenly start to change. What will happen next episode?

Next: Kore wa Zombie desu ka? S2
This episode, MYSTELTAINN IS BACK! With that, Ayumu has successfully erased the entire world’s memory about him being a Masou Shoujo-crossdressing-pervert-flasher. With Mysteltainn’s return, also means Haruna is able to become a Masou Shoujo again! A random stranger appears on the road and passes Ayumu a ring which is placed on Tomonori. If you don’t know who Tomonori is,
SHE’S THE BEST WIFE IN THE WORLD THAT YOU CAN EVER GET. EVER. The ring Ayumu got is placed on her to control the uncontrollable weapon that awakens whenever Tomonori passes out, Tomonori thinks the ring is a Wedding Ring and goes into mega-deredere mode and runs off with a huge smile plastered on her face. After that a megalo appears, a pervert-megalo, very much like the rest of the megalo’s that have appeared on this series.
Haruna and Ayumu take down this one easily together, but after the job, Haruna gets a splitting headache. What’s happening? Next episode.

Next up: Nyarlko-san!
I think I’m used to being disappointed already. After 5 episodes of nonsense-making as well as the past season of Inu x Boku SS, I’m used to plots being turned into big fat jokes. Turns out Mahiro’s mom wasn’t kidnapped because of a source of energy, but because Mahiro’s mom is a hardcore gamer and just wanted to see what a space game console looks like.
Meanwhile we have Cthuko being bullied around by Nyarlko as usual. She’s so cute when she’s frustrated at Nyarlko fawning over Mahiro.

Next: Tasogare Otome X Amnesia!
This anime is doing a pretty good job. Fanservice aside, its actually doing a really good job of bringing out creepy-scary scenes. This episode we see a girl who shares the name with Yuuko the ghost, even the same surname. As expected, everyone thinks she somehow knows the mystery behind the ghostly-occurrences but she doesn’t. As a result, she hates anything supernatural and spreads a rumor regarding a Red Woman and wanting to kill Yuuko-san. However, because she shares the same name as Yuuko the ghost, the paranoid students decide to sacrifice Yuuko the student instead, since they can’t see Yuuko the ghost.
The artwork is pretty good and the atmosphere portrayed and brought out is very well done. I’m still looking forward to the plot being carried out though, currently its just random strings of stories.

Section 2: Daily log of intern student (Day 57)

Started the day straight preparing for the morning surgery. After preparation, I went up to feed the chickens and guinea pigs then I went back down to clean up after the surgery. After lunch we went down to prepare for the next surgery, when everything was done, the pig stopped breathing, so we changed it and the next pig? DIDN’T BREATHE EITHER. So we decided to postpone it and spent the rest of the time cleaning up the surgery room.

I’ve been dragging this since it ended, BUT TODAY, IT SHALL BE WATCHED!
Well…….. Can’t say I hate the anime, can’t say I love it either. Was just average for me. Characters, however, are pretty cool. Like this one:
She’s the most awesome person in this series next to Segawa’s friend whose name I can’t remember. These 2 need more screen time.

Moving on: Its a new show of the season! Its called Folktales From Japan, and guess what’s its about?
Its literally like children stories. The drawings are fitting for it being a folktale anime. OP and ED are fitting as well, they seem like what children songs would sound like. There are 3 folktales in each episode (I assume because the first episode had 3) and it started with the folktale of Shiro the white dog. Now this tale is pretty popular, so popular that even I know about it. This anime obviously doesn’t actually have any real plot, but the little children stories are really cute and each of them has a moral, like every other children tale. The anime doesn’t tell you the moral of the story though, but its hinted and I’m pretty sure that its obvious what the moral of the stories are.

Next: Spacebros!
This is about 2 brothers, who had an encounter with a UFO which made them both promise to be astronauts and go into space. Sadly, the older bro Mutta has really bad luck in his life, and thus screwed up pretty much every job he lands, until the end of episode 1.
Let’s be honest now, how many of you actually remember the Zidane headbutt incident? I’m actually surprised to see an anime refer to this piece of world news, even though its been like 4 years since it happened. Little did I know it would make sense later in the episode.
ZIDANE!!! I actually laughed really hard at this part, I never expected such a simple reference would become this funny.
As for the story itself, this episode alone, I’ve seem Mutta probably shed manly tears like 3 or 4 times already. Well, its tagged seinen, but honestly, it reminds me of the kinda of show where people chase their childhood dreams, even as an adult. Its really calming to watch this show. OP and ED are decent, and there’s a special section after the ED which is pretty cool too!

Section 2: Daily log of intern student

Started the day off feeling tired, so I dragged myself everywhere and slacked all over the place. Thankfully today wasn’t busy at all, so I had lots of chances to slack around. Started the day off with feeding the chickens and guinea pigs, then checking the ID tag of the pregnant pigs. After that wasn’t so busy, so I ran around running errands. After lunch we had to remove the catheter from one of the surgery pigs because it wasn’t needed anymore, so we removed the catheter and the pig now doesn’t look like some kinda of weird cyborg-pig anymore. After that I spent the rest of the afternoon writing out the inventory list and slacking AT THE SAME TIME! K I should keep talking about slacking, if my employers find my blog I’m dead.

Section 3: Manga read today

• Koe de Oshigoto 36

For those who don’t know what this manga is about, its about a highschool girl becoming an eroge VA due to her connections with her older sister who works in a company producing eroges. For the most part, its all symbolic ecchi, but the unexpected love story that develops between the girl and a boy there is really interesting and sweet. That’s why I’m reading this.

Short haired Senjougahara, looks fresh. Okay to me I guess, but I know of some people *cough Stwy cough* who doesn’t like short hairs. O WELL THEIR LOSS!

Next up: Saving assassin Killua.
Dayum, Killua has one hell of a family. I’m disappointed in this episode that neither Kurapica nor Leorio nor Gon could individually open the Testing Gate like in the first version. Also, the scene at the apprentice butler part was too short! Let’s hope the scene at the butler house won’t be rushed like this episode.

Next up: Highschool DxD!
Seems like I miscalculated last week, turns out only Rias’ pieces are 1 of each, Phoenix has the standard 2 knights, 2 rooks, and 8 pawns. As for the bishop, I’m not even sure if its supposed to be a fighting piece.
O yea it definitely did, MOAR POWAR UP GOGO! But of course, despite all this shit, and I got all hyped up, thinking that Rias might somehow manage a win against the Phoenixes, BUT THIS END, I AM DISAPPOINT! O well, let’s see what happens next episode, as Koneko said in the preview: 終わってません。

Next: SymphoGAR
Wow talk about GARness, this guy just oozes loads of it. Without a symphogear of his own, he singlehandedly manages to pwn a complete relic and almost manages to stop her, until he had a moment of weakness.
Whoa, talk about biblical references. Nanoha season 3 also had loads of biblical references, and Symphogear also has one. This time its about the Tower of Babel, a tower so high that it was able to reach into the heavens, but because it was a symbol of rebellion, God destroyed it, confounded the languages of man, and scattered them all over the earth. Which is basically what Fine was referring to here.
YOU DON’T SAY?! Anyway, there’s 2 more episodes to the finale, and hopefully what they overshadowed at the start will be carried through.

Everything went according to Kano’s plan, but what is gonna happen at the hospital might not be too pleasant or according to plan. A cornered enemy is a dangerous enemy, with nowhere left to go, there’s nothing that the step-mother can do except take as much as she can while going down. You know, the “IF I’M GOING DOWN, I’M TAKING YOU WITH ME” attitude? Yea, that.

Sooo, I originally watched this because I thought it’d be cute girls doing cute stuff. Well, they are cute, but… There’s this thing that’s not cute enough about them compared to say… Hidamari Sketch, Hidamari Sketch is cuter than this, but Hidamari Sketch doesn’t have plot, this does. And it looks like they’re gonna meet with some trouble again.

キュートは最高！！

Following that, its Persona 4!

I usually wait for Commie’s release  of this anime, but its been almost one week since the raw was released, and they still haven’t subbed it, so I decided to watch other subs for now and see if Commie is still gonna carry on subbing Persona.
OH. MAI. GAWD. THIS SHOW NEVER FAILS TO MAKE ME LAUGH I SWEAR. This is the best game adaptation I’ve ever seen in the entire time I’ve been watching anime, I’m serious. Well, this episode was pretty funny in a lot of ways, and there were some UNSEE moments, but overall a pretty entertaining episode, like it always was.

Senko no Night Raid

Usually I will judge whether or not to watch an anime based on it’s setting. Senko no Night Raid is set in 1931 which normally wouldn’t appeal to me but there seems to be some action so I will watch it anyway.Personally, I can see myself getting bored of this easily.

Arakawa Under the Bridge

What?! This just looks crazy to me because I never read the manga. The storyline looks…maybe interesting, I think it all depends on execution at this point. And I demand an explaination as to why there is a man with a star for a head, but we can only wait and see…

Heroman

No official site or video at the moment orz but it is expected for April, so I will update as appropriate. As the description says, this is a collaberation between Stan Lee and Studio BONES. Stan Lee is an American artist who created Spiderman, X-MEN, Iron Man and many other Comic Book heroes, in fact there is also an Iron Man anime this spring too, but I’m not really interested. As you may know, Studio BONES is responsible for Soul Eater, Full Metal Alchemist, Eureka Seven, RahXephon and many more series I love, including the Pia Carrot movie. I’m not overly excited about this, but I think if it is done correctly it has LOADS of potential.

Angel Beats!

This may sound crazy but I don’t actually think this will live up to expectations. Why? Well, it is made by Key, so it should be excellent, but it’s like they’ve drawn too many elements from other series, school life from Clannad, supernatural elements from Haruhi (At first I didn’t care that the protagonist looks like haruhi, and then I see everyone playing guitar and I think “Hmm”) and action from CANAAN, all wrapped up into one undoubtedly tragic package.

Of course I will watch it anyway, there has been way too much hype for me to not do so. Who knows, maybe for some reason it will just work. Let’s hope it does.

Ichiban Ushiro no Daimaou

So much fanservice orz There is no youtube video but you can see a PV if you go to the official site by clicking the link above. It looks very bad, maybe I will watch one episode just to see if it’s good or not, it probably won’t be.

Working!!

There’s no video yet, but you can view a special manga on the official website if you want. Overall…I don’t really care much about this series, but the beauty of slice of life can only be seen once you are watching it in its entirety. Also, Takanashi is so cute, I will watch it just for her.

B Gata H Kei

Once again, no video as of yet, this is the price I pay for previewing so early. Another manga I never read, I don’t think you need a PV to tell you this is going to be outright obvious fanservice. Still, Chu-bra!! was just like that but I still enjoyed it, I think heavy fanservice is OK when it is outright and shameless as opposed to when a series uses it to pad itself out. Also, you can get a free wallpaper at the official site!! OK I am definitley watching this now, free wallpaper is an instant hook for me, but I think eroge companies have worked this out by now so I’m a bit more selective with those.

Kaichou wa Meido Sama

Okay, I have to say that this doesn’t really excite me that much. I thought that it would be awful, but apparently the manga was very good so I think this has potential to be enjoyable. You can watch the C77 PV on the official website, but once again, no youtube for us. Oh well. I’m taking a casual approach to watching this anime, nothing lost if it is terrible. Is it just me or was there a lot of stock footage on that PV? I hope that it isn’t going to be incomplete-feeling.

Uragiri wa boku no namae wo shitte Iru

Wow! What a mouthful, but most people are calling it Uraboku. Did you ever read Zombie Loan by manga duo PEACH-PIT? This series reminds me of that, which can’t be too bad. However I think there is likely to be some BL undertones, therefore I expect to see it mentioned on bangin’s blog at somepoint in the future.

Da Capo Ext.

I can’t find much information about this, but it’s been a long time since I played Da Capo and I don’t think I’m that interested anymore. This is basically a retelling and an extended version of the original Da Capo story, once again produced under Feel (Studio). You can think of this in a similar way to the remake of Kanon in 2004. Sometimes it’s nice to see the updated animation, it also means an extra wave of goods, but I don’t know what I would think if ToHeart was remade..

K-ON! Series 2

It requires no introduction, K-ON is still huge since 2009 so the momentum is still there for series 2. Personally, I enjoyed K-ON! but not as much as many other people did. Maybe I will buy a Tsumugi figure at some point, but not yet. All I can say is that I hope that the band manage to reach the Budokan this time, it was a shame to see the series go into Slice-of-life so quickly. No video yet? That surprises me. The closest thing was the K-ON! Live event.

Mayoi Neko Overrun!

Finally! We have a video! If you didn’t get your nyanko fill from Nyan-koi then you’ll be relieved to know that there is another cat-based anime. Judging by the video, it doesn’t actually seem to make much sense at all, but it’s nice to know that catgirls are not a dead moe. Whether the series will be any good however…

Kiss x Sis

Now here is a real series from Feel! Da Capo…I still don’t understand it.

Anyway, service service service is to be expected, but the manga was funny and enjoyable. I haven’t seen any of the OVA though, in fact I didn’t know there was an OVA at all, but there will be a 4th OVA episode in June 2010 so it is almost running concurrently to the anime series. It’s going to be airing on AT-X, so remember to take that as a warning.

Shin Koihime Musou – Otome Tairan

What started as a very good ADV eroge got adapted into a ‘just OK’ anime series with a shocking yuri scene. Did any of you watch Shin Koihime Musou? It was terrible wasn’t it? But I still watched anyway. It’s like being pulled into a black hole, you know it’s dangerous but you just want to see how bad it can get before you only hurt yourself further. At this point I am just waiting to see more Sousou x Kan’u action.

Yutori-chan

Yutori-chan!!! Since I loved MOETAN so much, whenever I see something new from POP I can’t help but be interested. Yutori-chan is the first ever anime to be distributed via e-mail, so you can watch it on your computer or on your mobile-phone. There will be minigames, chat sessions and other goodies from Yutori-chan available on the website too. I’m so excited for this series, I’ve signed up to recieve emails already. I was going to write a guide for non-japanese speakers to sign up  for the episodes too, but then I realised that if you can’t understand Japanese then it’s no use trying to watch the episodes because they won’t be translated. A fansub group will probably sub them because of easy distribution.

Excited too? You can watch 4 PVs on this youtube channel but I’m not sure if it’s the official channel or not.

BLACK★ROCK SHOOTER

Okay, so everyone is disappointed that this is an OVA, personally I don’t mind. I ordered the BRS figure but I am glad it was delayed because I decided to cancel. I don’t really like the song and after a while I began to tire of the character design. I will watch it anyway, because it’s  Black Rock Shooter.

Gundam Unicorn

I thought this was going to be a full series! orz

Well, I’m not a big fan of Gundam, but lately I’ve been getting into it more and I don’t want to have to watch Gundam SD again… Let’s hope it’s a good OVA series (6 episodes are planned and they are 50 minutes long apparently). It’s also to be released internationally, I don’t really know what that means but maybe you will be able to view it on TV networks across the world.

So…that’s what we have to look forward to in upcoming months. I can’t wait for summer, it’s my favorite month and always feels good to watch anime in the sun whilst relaxing. 2010 may be the return of some good anime finally as we begin to head out of the financial slump.

On an unrelated note, I plan on recording an exclusively Hatsune Miku trance mix tonight. It’s completely digital, no CD rips or DJ hardware, totally software. I did a few practices with some other tracks on pure digital and…it’s difficult to make it sound good but I hope that I will produce something worthwhile of posting in the creation corner. It should be about an hour long, and even tell a story!
