Cakebread Deja Vu

We continued our Thanksgiving festivities by enjoying Black Friday in Napa. And, to fulfill Kimberly’s wish, we did pay a visit to Cakebread Cellars. Kimberly and I were a hit in wine country, as we had most of our tastings comp’d! Apparently even Napa has day after Thanksgiving sales.

Tyvärr gick operationen i torsdags inte så bra, inte bra alls. Diana ville inte ens in i buren på morgonen, hon stretade emot, klöste och jamade som aldrig förr. Väl hos veterinären frågade de om de skulle ta lite tester på henne först och kolla så att alla värden stod rätt till så att hon inte fick genomlida en operation i onödan. Jag tyckte det lät klokt. Efter det lämnar jag henne där ensam och åker hem och gör lite jobb på egna firman. Vid fyra skulle jag kunna komma och hämta henne sen.

Vid halv tre är jag så himla trött, så jag går och lägger mig en stund. Telefonen väcker mig strax. Det är dolt nummer så jag tror det är mamma. Men det är veterinärens röst jag hör, hennes njurvärden är dåliga. Så i chock och tårar samlar jag ihop mig och åker med Anna till veterinären för att säga adjö till Diana. Jag får tag i Candie på telefon och pratar med henne om beslutet (det var hennes katt de första 2-3 åren).

Jag och Anna är med Diana i över en timma. Hon är fortfarande nersövd (hon lät inte veterinären ta testerna utan klöste och bet dem, så de fick ge henne narkos). Hon vaknar aldrig upp utan får efter ett tag sprutan så att hon somnar in. Jag håller om henne och känner hennes sista andetag. Det är extra djupt och fyller hennes små lungor med ny luft en sista gång.

Farväl Diana. Jag är övertygad om att du får det mycket bättre på andra sidan. Tänker på dig, och saknar dig, alltid!

1998-12-24 till 2009-11-26. Du skänkte mig 11 underbara år, för vilka jag är dig evigt tacksam. Vi gick igenom så oerhört mycket tillsammans.

Anna announcing that the V’s will be offering vitamin injections. Ryan quickly figures out that this is part of a larger scheme. He says it is the reactivation of an old plan. Erica runs all of the names of the V’s that were involved with the old plan through the FBI and find one lead, Peter Combs.

When Georgie, Erica, Ryan and Jack go on their little spy mission, Georgie goes a little nutso and shoots Peter, but Peter shoots back. Peter swallows a suicide pill so that be fry’s into ashes. Turns out Jack is was in the military and stitches Georgie up so he’s just fine. A little bonkers in the head, but physically fine. “Pretty soon you’re going to need to decide what you are, a priest, or a solider.”

Erica finds out that Ryan is a visitor when Peter calls him a traitor. Ryan tells Erica about the 5th column. She gets over the fact that Ryan is a V rather quickly.

Erica, Ryan and Jack break into some building to investigate a lead gathered from Peter’s briefcase. Originally, they thought the V’s were going to put their drugs into the vitamin shot, but here they figure out that they are putting R6 into the human flu vaccine. See, no government agency is going to be concerned about the flu vaccine when there is a new vitamin shot and with these vaccines mingled in with others, there is no way to pick them apart. In this building they tested the shot, and that is why it is filled with dead bodies. The V’s find out that they’re in the building, a couple punches, gun shots and strangles later and the building blows up.

Our human nature is very calculated. They more predictable we are, the more vulnerable we are.

The world gets a little smaller. We find out that Valerie is Tyler’s psychiatrist. Tyler gets Valerie an appointment at the V’s healing centers. At her appointment there, she discovers that she is pregnant. Little does she know, she’s pregnant with half a V/half a lizard.

Chad does a report on the medical miracles that the healing center is doing. He gets a funky diagnostic full body scan to demonstrate the procedure. While he is getting this scan, he gets some startling news. He is going to die in 6 months unless he lets the V’s heal whatever is going to develop in his brain. They can determine medically what has happened and what will happen.

Erica’s former V partner was murdered by a member of the medical staff and Anna is on the hunt to find out who. As far as we know, there are 2 members of the medical staff that are a part of the 5th column. The one who didn’t murder her partner takes the blame because the other is the chief medical officer and he’s too valuable. His sentence? Skinned to death.

Jack is stabbed by someone who comes in the church pretending to look for help after hours, I believe it is a man/V from the warehouse that was blown up.

This new show has got me pretty hooked, but I have one major complaint. This was the last episode of 2009. What kind of crazy show has 4 episodes and then stops for the year?

Conclusa oggi la messa in onda della bella sfida Anna-Mariangela con il verdetto da parte di Mangiarotti.

Entrambe le contendenti sono state lodate da Mangiarotti, ma è Anna a vincere il confronto. Come nel caso della prima sfida della stagione (quella di Loredana) la sfidante è forse migliore di altri titolari del banco.

La sfida è stata un’occasione per Anna di mettersi in mostra, visto che nelle passate settimane (è anche entrata in corsa battendo Januaria un mesetto fa) non ha avuto molte occasioni per far notare le sue doti.

E sembra riuscita nel suo intento di uscire dall’anonimato. Oltre alle lodi da parte di Mangiarotti, ha incassato un commento positivo sul suo potenziale da parte di Rapino, oltre che ai buoni giudizi di Grazia (in questo caso più scontati visto che la prepara insieme alla riediviva sul lungo banco della commissione Scalise).  La Martinez, invece, la reputa “antica“.

Så er det i aften det går løs med sjov og ballade.
Lige nu er jeg hjemme hos Sabine – Anna kommer snart og henter os,
og så skal vi hjem til hende og spise pizza og drikke os fulde.
Det bliver rigtig hyggeligt, tror jeg. Senere kommer Mette og Xandra.

Efter skole idag var jeg med mor oppe i byen. Jeg fandt et par rigtig
flotte højhælede sko, som jeg har kigget på før. De var på tilbud, så
dem købte jeg og mor gav et tilskud. Søde mor. Vi fik lidt frokost, og
mor købte en trøje, som jeg fik overbevist hende om at jeg skulle have
på i aften ikke dårligt! Så nu har jeg da lidt fint at have på.
Dog skal jeg ikke være så fandens fuld, for der er jo julefrokost i morgen,
og jeg bliver hentet af far klokken syv i morgen tidlig, og så skal jeg hjem
og rydde op. Men what the fuck … LIVING ON THE EDGE!!!!

Gabi, Julie og drengene skal til gymnasiefest, og det skal vi andre ikke,
så vi mødes først i byen, men det er nu okay. Jeg fortryder altid at jeg
har taget med til de fester. Det eneste gode ved det, er at man kan
komme gratis ind på daisy. Nå, det skal det nok blive en rigtig sjov
aften.. Og det er så om et par timer jeg skal ligne en million, være fuld
og Lars skal være i byen.. Var det ikke dét vi aftalte igår??..

Anna’s 94-year-old Great-Grandma came up from Iowa for her baptism.  Great-Grandma has had the priviledge of attended all her great-grandchildren’s baptisms.

Great-Grandma is also a chiropractor (now retired).   Anna got her first adjustment.  Thanks Grandma!

Anna had a very special day at church on November 22.  She was baptized into love and forgiveness that only God can provide.  She was absolutely beautiful that day and thoroughly enjoyed having the extended family over for the day.  She is such a blessing to us.  May this be the beginning of her knowing and loving the Lord.

Quello che da tre mesi non dico, non mostro, verrà fuori. Ho tenuto il segreto della strepitosa commedia che sto per interpretare e del personaggio unico e strabordante che devo incarnare.

Jag har haft problem med mitt msn de senaste dagarna. Av någon outgrundlig anledning ändrar den konstant mitt namn till Anna så fort jag loggar in. Ja, jag har bytt lösenord och nej, jag tror inte jag fått virus faktiskt. Något konstigt är det i alla fall. 

Men poängen jag vill komma till är att namnet har väldigt stor betydelse. Större än du kanske tror.

Att dejta en kille som heter Åke, Sven, Bertil, Ronny, Sigurt, Kurt-Göran, Örjan…ja ni fattar. Det är jobbigt.

Och hur hett låter det här?:

– Nä, asså mannen jag hinner inte träffa dig och träna i kväll. Jag ska hem till Griselda och toffla.

Inte särskilt hett va?

Om du träffar jordens snygging som har ett av de fulaste, osexigaste namnen du kan tänka dig, ja då kan du ju inte vara så ytlig att du skiter i personen. Det vore ju vansinne. Så vad gör du då?

Thanksgiving

A little more filling than red wine, but trust me, there was plenty of the latter going around today too. We had an utterly fantastic Thanksgiving. At several points during the meal, we all just sat around, stared incredulously at each other and breathed “Seriously, this is so much better than what I was expecting!”. Delicious food + great company = Thanksgiving success!

Study break

Kimberly’s walk around McPherson yesterday inspired me to photograph the people of Berkeley. Suffice it to say, we have some pretty interesting people around here, which I personally love. Case in point: this student taking a break on the steps of Sproul Hall.

Unfortunately, I was too shy (read: chicken) to photograph some of the truly bizarre Berkeley citizens – like the guy wearing an entire outfit made of origami. Today’s lesson? I need to get over myself and learn to approach potential subjects. Besides, it’s probably less sketchy to ask someone to take their photo for a blog than to creepily sneak in pictures of them…
