Dear Grade 1 & 2 Parents,

Seeing how much fun the EC’s had at their Fun Day and the Grades 3-5 had at their Halloween Disco, some parents have tried to organize a fun family event for our Grades 1 and 2.

This event will take place after school on Friday, December 4th, 2009 in the EC playground area. The shade should cool us off. We can share our picnic lunch and then have fun and laughter with the sprinklers and other outdoor activities. However, for those kids who want to have a more relaxed Friday afternoon, then chill with some indoor activities. Just remember to have an extra set of clothes – who knows where the water will splash. We hope to have a chilling afternoon of fun, and getting to know each other. If you have any other ideas or wish to organize an activity, please get in touch with your class parent(s). If you also want to donate a small amount towards the activities then also ask your class parent if any assistance is required. There is a parent sign-up sheet on the bulletin boards outside of the Grade 2 classrooms. Please sign up if you are interested in helping.

Your class parents will give you further feedback as the time comes closer. Just make a note of this event on your calendar. Please remember it is a family event so make sure you can be there with your child. Siblings are more than welcome to join us in our day out in the sun.

We’re getting pretty close to being done with our time together. When we come back from the Thanksgiving break we have only three more classes!

On Tuesday we will have a special class discussing the topic of immigration. You don’t have to do anything to prepare for this class other than show up. On Thursday we will discuss a reading, a recent report issued by Amnesty International titled “Jailed Without Justice.” You can download the PDF here.

Sometime between now and Thursday, you have to turn in your last Book Review assignment, on Home Bound by Yen Le Espiritu. As you know, that assignment has been slightly revised for your comfort and success. You can read more about that momentous transformation here.

On Sunday, December 6th, my wife and I will have a little get-together at our house, at 2:00, in your honor. We’ll feed you and torture you with the cuteness of our kids. We’ll work out travel logistics sometime this week.

When we return from break we have only three classes left. As we’ve discussed, there are some minor changes to the syllabus in terms of your workload, and some others that you might be interested in, so here is the break down:

Tuesday, December 1
You’ll have your LAST Book Review assignment of the semester due, an evaluation of the book Racism on Trial. You’ll also want to start reading the book The Latino Threat by Leo Chavez, although we won’t be discussing it until the following week. We’ll spend our class time on this day discussing Racism on Trial and also doing a final question and answer session on our Research Papers. I will aos return your KAS Assignments.

Thursday, December 3
We’ll have a lecture finishing up our class story. You’ll have no work expected of you for this class, but you should continue reading The Latino Threat in preparation for next week.

Tuesday, December 8
For our LAST class, we will have a seminar discussion on chapters 1, 2, 3, 5, and 7 of The Latino Threat. Attending and participating gets you 5 final grade points, as it will serve as our final In-Class Exercise. You will also get another 5 final grade points for turning in a list of discussion questions for our seminar. That assignment is a substitute for what was supposed to be our fourth Book Review. You can read all about it here.

Finally, your Historical Research Paper will be due no later than Wednesday, December 16 at 12 noon. For this assignment, there is no possible “late” extension.

So that’s it. Sixteen days. One book review. One class seminar worth a combined 10 points. One research paper tying together the work you already did. It’s all downhill from here.

Please know you have profoundly helped me grow to who I am today (I hope that’s not a bad thing!). I apologize off the bat for the bad grammar. This is a very stream of consciousness letter. I am thankful for so many people this is going to sound like an acceptance speech. If only I had an award to go with it!For some reason, I feel more thankful than ever. Going through a transformation of sorts puts everything in perspective. When I lost my job this past June, I would have never guessed I would have felt more alive and have met some of the most amazing people. I never dreamed I would be on television/radio and also have a blog, which has had to date over 15,000 hits. I am grateful for EVERYONE who visits day after day!

Thank you for following the journey.

If I could tell you one thing –change the world. Go out and make a difference. Stand up for what you believe in. Change someone’s life. We all have amazing stories to tell. Share them.

My blog wouldn’t have gotten off the ground without a few people. My publicist, George, whose idea it was to really go forward and create the blog. He always has a way of staying positive. A special thanks to ALL the people I have interviewed thus far: the wonderful Marti C., single-licious Melissa B, exceptional Jerry Mitchell, incredible forced to be reckoned with Frenchie Davis, life changing activities Ryan Janek Wolowski and Randy Wicker, and uber talents Richard and Dana. Elisa, Will, Angelo and Renee thank you for one point or another for being my camera bitch! There are many more people, so I apologize if I have forgotten you.

Liz S, you are an amazing woman who constantly gives me the chance to do what I love! You always astound me by the types of events you have me cover. Thank you for taking a chance with me!
Julie H. you have such an amazing heart. I never thought in a million years I would be on the Pat Field website! You have really made my year. You see things in me that I have overlooked. I can’t thank you enough for the dream come true it has been and will keep continuing!
Meagan H. – WE WILL GET KATHY!! You are such a joy to know and you never make my crazy idea is well…crazy! You are a great visionary at what you do!

My family has always been my rock. A special shout out to my relatives in PA, who are not only amazing, but I am so blessed to have reconnected with them on Facebook. Though sometimes we seem miles apart, BENNINGTONS know we are NEVER that far. Thanks guys for all the kick ass support!

My other “family” -my friends who have seen my light and my dark, I feel so fortunate to have had the opportunity to see each of you grow and become individuals who make me proud in the way you contribute and choices you make. Each of you has such a special gift. I truly love you all and you have been a place to look for advice, support and unconditional love. You have no clue how much I value all of you (though sometimes my sarcasm may make it seem otherwise)

My Old Tappan friends, it’s been a while but let me know when you’re around the NYC/NJ area. For me to see us all grown up seems a little freaky! It was only yesterday we were singing to Mr. Boscia’s music, seeing Mr. Rossi throw a desk, cutting class, going to the prom. Now some of you have your own families. Keep me in your heart, as I do with you.

Wagner College gave me amazing inspiration to find myself and meet professors and life-long friends who inspire me daily. There are many ways you can gain an education as I learned in my years at Wager!

Thanks to all the RENT friends I have made. Measure in love. We can always be grateful for Jonathan Larson’s lasting treasure. Thanks for all the RENT road trips!

Thank you, all the new friends I have made. I look forward to knowing you more and more (that DOES sound kind of creepy)

THANK YOU TO ALL OF YOU OUT THERE WHO INSPIRE!

This year, remember those who are not as blessed and keep them in your thoughts and prayers. It’s important for us –as teachers, friends, parents, lovers, brothers, sisters,-you name it, to go out there and make a difference. Anything small can help. We can be the change.

Please have a safe, healthy and happy Thanksgiving this year.

As of this week, I shall no longer be writing blog posts about How To play anymore. This is for seve

As of this week, I shall no longer be writing blog posts about How To play anymore. This is for several reasons, but the main one is that it is far too restrictive to write in. The first few How To Posts that I wrote were ideas that had been spinning round in my head for several months (In the case of DRM, several years). However, I don’t think I can continue writing blog posts with the same regularity as my various observations on the subject of gaming as a whole, and still make a good job of it. To that end, I’ve decided to cease forcing myself to write them every week, and will add them into the usual regular updates.

To that end, I will still be updating twice a week. I like writing this blog, and I’m happy to continue. Although when I write this my reader count is quite small, I would still like to write posts well and coherently. So you’ll still see a post every Monday and Thursday at 10:00 GTM on the dot (Thanks to the wonders of scheduling). So check back tomorrow for an post on whatever I decided to write about.

My last request is for the people who read it at the moment. I am well aware that I’m a small blink in the blogospheare, but if you like this blog, comment and tell your friends to read it. If you don’t like it, comment anyway. Tell me what you don’t like, tell me what you’d like to see incorporated into my writing style. I’ll always read the comments, and I’ll always read and respond.

You know the drill. Cursive will be playing Cine El Rey in McAllen next Sunday November 29th and I am extremely excited. I believe that the past is what makes us who we are in the present so I’ve decided to post one track from their back catalog each day leading up to the show.

Today’s track comes from the split EP the band released with Japanese punk band Eastern Youth. The release has one of the coolest names ever to don an EP, 8 Teeth To Eat You. (fyi: there are 8 songs on the EP.)

This track is called “May Flowers” and brings Cursive’s contribution to this EP to a close. Now, don’t be fooled by it’s soft, serene intro, this tooth will most definitely eat you.

http://webzone.k3.mah.se/projects/arduino-workshop/projects/arduino_meets_processing/instructions/8switches.html

그리고 참고로 if … else 용어에 대한 간단한 설명:
if else는 if보다 좀 더 많은 컨트롤을 할 수 있는 코드용어입니다.

—- action A 아니면 B의 경우:

if (pinFiveInput < 500)
{
// action A
}
else
{
// action B
}

—-  action A, B, C중의 하나의 경우:

if (pinFiveInput < 500)
{
  // do Thing A
}
else if (pinFiveInput >= 1000)
{
  // do Thing B
}
else
{
  // do Thing C
}
