Jelena Jankovic wore this fabulous raspberry pink dress in Doha.

Simple cut, great colour and just look how nice it moves around her.

The dress is specially designed by Jelena’s sponsor ANTA, a Chinese Sports brand. Jankovic has a three year contract with ANTA, worth several millions.

Not over yet: Serbian Jelena Jankovic could end her year on a high note — the rest of it hasn’t been the best (titles in Andalucia and Cincinnati; a finals appearance in Tokyo) — since she’s still jankovic earned her fashion stripesin the running for the 2009 Sony Ericsson Tour Championships, happening this week in Doha.

The tour’s final outing of 2009 brings out another outfit from the partnership between JJ and ANTA. This time, she let the fabric do the talking, staying away from complicated details and instead placing a monogram on the back of the pink wrap dress.

Scores: Jelena got shut down by Victoria Azarenka in their opening round robin, but rebounded with a win over Safina (well, Dinara withdrew with a back injury) and Caroline Wozniacki. In case you’re actually following the results…

A family-run Scottish design and architecture firm, founded in the early 1980s by Annie and Lachlan Stewart. All ANTA products are made in Scotland from the finest natural materials, with colours inspired by the Scottish landscape.

As designers and architects they are best known for there modern interpretation of traditional Scottish style; particularly for Annie’s re-working of tartan in sophisticated and subtle colourways to suit the contemporary interior.

Lachlan’s architecture is strongly informed by the vernacular tradition of building, local context, and locally available materials.

So you can imagine why were so thrilled to be working with them.

Here’s just a taster of how we’re be showcasing their genius throughout the restaurant and café.

*Named after an architectural technique from ancient times, and a word happily and co-incidentally enough from Latin. What’s more, Ben, the Design Director at ANTA tells us the following story: “A student on placement was doodling up ideas for a ribbon one day that had the word TARTAN used repeatedly. To his, and our delight, he noticed that the sequence TARTANTARTANTARTANTARTAN, also could be picked out as TARTANTARTANTARTANTARTAN“

The Shuai-caused upsets continue at the China Open, with Shuai Zhang’s defeat of Dinara Safina preceding the fizzling of Jelena Jankovic’s tourney run. The defending champion lost 6-4, 5-7, 2-6 to local Shuai Peng. Jankovic was still being bothered by the wrist injury that forced her to retire from the Toray Pan Pacific Open final last week; she “couldn’t hit the ball hard enough” to keep the match competitive in the third set.

ANTA, Jelena’s sponsor, created a special dress just for their hometown event (Zheng Jie got the same treatment). They created a “pearl crown” pattern on the layered purple dress, which made references to Jelena’s title reign for this past year.

“I love this design very much,” Jelena said about the design. “I am very touched.” Not touched enough to defend! (Jay kay! xo – tsf)

We really do love this dress, and think that Jelena and ANTA have created a great collaboration that we expect to see more of in the coming weeks — if Jelena is fit enough to play. What do you think of the dress? Tell us!

Bracketology: Meanwhile, Serena won her third-round match and will be back at the No. 1 spot once the rankings are published on Monday. We are sad to see the 2009 Wimbledon run of Zheng Jie, one of last year’s semifinalists, come to an end so quickly. But we’re not surprised that was in the hands of the always dangerous Dani Hantuchova; the sixteenth seed lost to Hantuchs in straight sets — 6-3, 7-5.

Zheng was wearing another new outfit from ANTA. This time, though, it looks like they overdid the trim on her all-white separates.

You can never have enough tassels. Case in point: Jelena Jankovic’s racquet bag, seen here as she gets a left toe blister tended to during her 3-6, 6-0, 9-7 loss to Romanian Sorana Cristea in the fourth round of the French Open. Jelena had reached the semis of Roland Garros in the past two years.

We figured that this would be a Prince bag, but is probably supplied by ANTA now that Jelena’s contract with the racquet company has expired (we have yet to hear about a renewal). Do you know who produced this bag? Tell us!

Looking forward: In the quarters, Sorana will face the winner of the Stosur/Razzano match. TSF didn’t even know that Sam or Virginie were still in the draw.

Se você gosta de animais e natureza aí vai mais uma dica para um bom passeio de domingo. O Zoológico de Pomerode .

 Localizado a 33 km de Blumenau e a 175 km de Florianópolis,  possui diversas atrações e muitos animais! O Zoológico foi fundado em 1932 e desde então vem passando por diversas melhorias. Atualmente ele é o maior do estado com mais de 225 espécies, totalizando 1.300 animais. Vale lembrar que os animais estão muito bem tratados.

 Além disso, ele trabalha fortemente com a conservação animal, onde fazem também a reprodução de algumas espécies que estão ameaçadas de extinção.

Quanto à infraestrutura do local, eles dispõem de restaurantes, que servem refeições e lanches e estacionamento no local (R$5,00). O horário de funcionamento é das 08:00 às 18:00, sendo que em horário de verão ficam abertos até às 19:00.

 Os valores* dos ingressos são:

• Adulto: R$10,00
• Infantil (de 04 a 12 anos): R$5,00

 *estudantes e idosos pagam meia entrada com o comprovante.

Dentre os animais que mais atraem a atenção do público estão os leões (inclusive os seus filhotes), os tigres (particularmente um dos meus preferidos), os 6 pumas (isso mesmo 6!!), os ursos, as girafas, o hipopótamo, flamingos (muitos flamingos), o mico-leão-dourado, e os chimpazés.

 Além disso, pode-se observar uma enorme variedade de aves em um local onde os visitantes podem entrar em um viveiro e ter um contato bem próximo com os animais. Sem esquecer é claro das araras que sobrevoam as nossas cabeças.

 Pra quem gosta de répteis eles tem um serpentário bem interessante com muitas espécies de cobras diferentes!

 Ah.. a única razão para indignação é: Por que o Asno fica tão escondido? Coitados…

We’ve just finished Day 3 of play and already Caro’s out (grumpily), Venus is gone, and Jelena’s title defense fizzled. Maybe a lesson should be gleaned from women who get their on-court kits custom-made?

Not convinced? Then we present Exhibit D in the form of Zheng Jie, who had her “Z” monogram adapted by ANTA to reflect her participation in this week’s China Open in Beijing.

The design’s named “Phoenix Returns to Nest” — symbolic of Zheng’s return to her home SEWTA tourney after months of playing all over the world. “I especially like this apparel as the design is simple yet it contains a lot of Chinese elements,” said Zheng of the apparel.

Sadly, Zheng lost in the first round to sixth seed Svetlana Kuznetsova; the Russian’s slated to face Venus-killer Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova in the quarters.

Bracketology: Serena is lurking in the same half as Kuzie, and will probably go up against Peng, who’s through to the quarters after beating Sharapova. Meanwhile, in the other half, Chinese No. 1 Li Na is out, losing to Dementieva in the third round. In the other quarter, Shuai Zhang will go up against Marion Bartoli for a spot in the final eight.
