Gracias a Infosertec.TV (el videopodcast de Ariel Corgatelli) me llegan estos 10 minutos de una conferencia sobre el estado de las leyes que penan los delitos informáticos en Argentina.

Mientras que la charla describe la situación en nuestro país, las conclusiones aplican también para cualquier otro.

Yo agregaría además que los usuarios estarían mejor protegidos si no usaran Windows (cualquier versión) y en su lugar utilizaran alguna distribución de GNU/Linux (como Ubuntu; video), Mac OS X (como Snow Leopard) u OpenSolaris (como 2009.06).

No obstante estos sistemas operativos son más seguros y no dejarán pasar el malware –y el que es para Windows simplemente no funcionaría– hoy en día la mayoría de las amenazas no vienen en forma de software sino a través de “ingeniería social”, es decir, engaños; particularmente enlaces llegados por email que nos llevan hacia algún sitio falso o nos pide que ingresemos datos privados como el usuario y la contraseña.

Sólo un usuario educado digitalmente y preparado (correctamente informado) para detectar estas amenazas estará relativamente seguro. El analfabetismo digital, el vacío legal y Windows son los ingredientes de un caldo que nadie querría tomar.

Comparativa considera 16 soluciones

El laboratorio independiente de ensayos de software, AV Comparatives ha realizado un exhaustivo estudio comparativo de 16 programas antivirus para el mercado de consumidores.

Los resultados están disponibles en un informe de 27 paginas publicado en el sitio de la organización.

El estudio se concentró en la capacidad de los programas de eliminar virus de los PC infectados, y no solo detectarlos. Aparte de ello se buscó establecer en qué medida el proceso de limpieza elimina todos los vestigios del virus, o si éste deja residuos del daño causado al sistema.

Los resultados son presentados en la tabla siguiente:

eScan, Symantec y Microsoft Security Essentials fueron los únicos programas en conseguir la clasificación “bueno” tanto en la eliminación del virus como de sus vestigios. Por ejemplo, un gran número de programas antivirus no lograron eliminar elementos dejados por los virus en el registro de Windows.

Los únicos programas en conseguir 3 estrellas fueron eScan, Symantec y Microsoft. Entre ellos, Microsoft Security Essentials es el único de los tres distribuidos gratuitamente.

There is a conflict with SpyHunter with other programs at startup with Windows 7. A trouble ticket was input and there has been no technical respone. A second trouble ticket was put in again no technical response. Not even a status that they are working on it.
