Apex, Mr Mel the Riddler and new artist signed to Apex Records Chyna Hollywood have been working hard. Lately they have been through out Charlotte, NC and Rockhill, SC doing shows and having fun in the process. Hevay promo have been passed out through out every event which they have been in and believe me when we say that the streets are watching and waiting for the release of Mr Mel the Riddler’s “Riddle Me This” album to drop this year of April. We caught up with Apex to get words on the “Riddle Me This” album and all he had to say was that everything was running on time and expect more videos to stir up more insight upon the release.

“Cruise Control” and “Edible”

Releasing this month will be a video for the song “Cruise Control” which is one of the hottest songs on “Riddle Me This” by Mr Mel the Riddler. It will be released and spread viral through youtube later this week and also the Riddler will be shooting “Edible”. A song geared towards the ladies. Talk about going crazy with videos. Apex and the Riddler are making sure that a wide variety of videos are put out for the album so that it not only attracts the males, but the ladies as well. “Surf Board Status”

Looking for some new sounds to listen too from Apex Records artist
? Well if so be on the alert for high tides this summer when Chyna Hollywood releases “Surf Board Status”. His mix tape will consists of industry beats with features from I Am Wright, Daa Kant, Joey Bullis, Apex, Mr Mel the Riddler, King Royalty and the list goes on. This mix tape is guaranteed to be a mixture and a style that is unlike any others. As of right now the mix tape “Surf Board Status” is set to be released this summer of June. Are you ready for what is to be the reincarnation of the old Apex? If not then get prepared. Apex has been at work going hard on the “Knock Knock” mix tape which is rumored to have his old rhyming style on it. From witty, straight forward punchlines and more. So far there is said to be features on it from Mr Mel the Riddler, Chyna Hollywood and King Royalty. We do not know for sure if there will be more features, but right now it is a work in progress and it is rumored to be released this coming summer along with Hollywood’s mix tape “Knock Knock”.

Just as Mr Mel the Riddler finishes up his album “Arkham City” we hear that Apex Records will be signing a new artist and managing more artist as well. It is not yet sure as to who this new artist will be, but we think that it may be “Chyna Macra” aka The Future. A solo artist which had a production deal from Apex Studio in the middle of 2005. Sources say that it also could be “Yo Star” from the UK which was recently in the studio with Apex working on a song with him. Also lets not forget about “Nero”; who was signed to Apex Studio for a Promo EP which Apex and him recorded a song titled “Got That” (which is the #1 song on the LUST Album). There are is really no telling who could be the next artist signed to Apex Records; but one thing is for sure…. it will happen next week.

Recently artist Apex has been out of work with a rare breathing disorder. His breathing had gotten really shallow Sunday night September 30th. He was transported to CMC University that night by his wife where he was quickly aided. He was given breathing treatments until early Monday mourning and was sent home for bed rest until further following up with his doctor this coming Friday. Apex was told to take take the week off from work, but will he…NO! He has received plenty of rest and has been taken his prescription which seems to have been doing him good. Even though he will be returning back to work this Thursday October 5th he will not be recording anything. We will be making sure that he takes everything slow and relax.

WEBSITE UPDATES!

We have made some changes to the Apex Records website. The recording side of the website is still intact and nothing has changed from it, but we have made some small changes to the record label side. You will see that we have changed the artist pages; those signed and managed under Apex Records. They now include a new layout and current releases from the artist as well. The Vault page has been changed to the MEDIA page. Nothing on this page has been changed, but we did upgrade the Soundcloud module so that listeners could like, comment, and browse the current songs in the playlist. We will be upgrading the STORE portion of the site along with adding a TOUTS page. We will still keep everything streamlined as to make sure the website loads quick and is easily viewable from desktop and mobile devices.

ONE MORE SHOW…

We are looking for Mr Mel the Riddler to perform one last time for this year until his album is released next year. So far it has been a good year as Mr Mel the Riddler has been doing his thing along side Apex and other guest artist on stage. The show is set for November, but we do not have a set date yet. The show will be booked through Afton Shows and it is guaranteed to be a banger.

Apextacy Remix feat. Mr Mel The Riddler is now available in IHeart Radio. This was a shock to Apex Records artist Apex and Mr Mel the Riddler. After all the music submissions to IHeart Radio they have finally picked one; said Apex. We plan on doing some major advertising about our music being in IHeart Radio, but we sill haven’t had time to enjoy the success with the current projects which we have coming up; Apex noted.

“GO HARD OR GO HOME”

The two shows that was setup by Apex Records through Afton Shows was a big success. It gave independent artist the chance to meet and open up for Apex Records artist Mr Mel the Riddler. Money Man was supposed to be in attendance, but was unavailable to show up… so the show still went on. The first show consisted of Mr Mel the Riddler performing some new songs from his mixtape “Arkham City” along with the remix of one of his album songs “Going Hard Remix” featuring Gemi and performing the Apextacy Remix with Apex himself. Talk about crowd stoppers; Apex and the Mr Mel the Riddler make a great duo on stage together when performing songs. After a fun night performing it was no time to relax because they hard to do “Go Hard or Go Home Part 2” within the following week. Go Hard or Go Home Part 2 was exactly what the name says. The opening acts for this event was TMH (@TMH_MUSIC), Charlotte America (which did not show), Gemi (@Gemizajewel), and Mr Mel the Riddler.  If you missed it you missed a good performance which topped the first. We don’t want to spoil this event footage so check out the video feed for it.

Riddle Me This Intro

The first video to Mr Mel the Riddler album has been shot and boy does it look very impressive. The video was shoot in downtown Charlotte, NC on top of a building. We have some still photos of the actual finished product and nothing more. Apex has been keeping a tight lid on the production and footage coming from the Mr Mrl the Riddler album. But here are some still shots of what we were able to get; as you will see in these still frames they were gearing for a animated video.

Re Releasing

Next month will be the re releasing of “Hellzapexalyptickilah” and “Love Fade Away”. For those of you who don’t know “Hellzapexalypticah” is the first album ever written and produced by Apex himself. It was released is 2001 in the state of NC on the streets of Charlotte, and then was released in stores world wide in 2002. This time around the album will be released in digital stores as of the new albums which have been released. So be on the look out as we keep you updated with more information about “Hellzapexalyptickilah”.

For “Love Fade Away”; this album was produced by Apex and CJ Beatz for Apex Studio recording artist Chyna aka Future. “Love Fade Away” was never released in stores digitally or physically… why might you ask? Because the timing wasn’t right. At the current time when “Love Fade Away” was completed Apex felt that the time wasn’t right to release it to the public. Mr Mel the Riddler jumped on stage once again at The Evening Muse and took it by storm. Recently of as 2 years ago Chyna was signed to Apex Studio as a recording artist and ventured off after his project was complete to further his career in the music industry. After 2 years he has came back to try and ink a deal as a full time recording artist of Apex Records. Apex has told Chyna that right now the budget can not with stand signing another artist to the record label, but what he can do is give Chyna a digital distribution deal through Apex Records.

Money Man’s album “Against All Odds” can be found in the Itunes online store, Raphsody, Nokia, Amazon Music, Amazon on Demand, Spotify and etc. If you haven’t purchased a copy all ready hurry while supplies last we have a limited amount of hard copies left; which can be found on the Apex Records online store or at Apex Studios.

Auto Delete:
The hard drives of Apex Studio have been cleaned off. The only material which we have are studio tracks from our producers, music from our signed artist, and any material which clients have made arrangements to pick up. Everything else has been deleted.

Free studio time:
We will still be giving away free studio time. Right now at the moment we are in the process of implementing a new system to accomendate this. Apex himself used to handle the free studio time give away, but now he will be focusing on the new talent which he is signing to Apex Records and giving the free studio time to another employee to handle. So as everything is worked out we will be back to giving away free studio time.

Another Sin Released?:
Apex Records will be releasing another sin. The first sin released by Apex Studio/ Apex Records was “Lust”. Now with spring right around the corner Apex Records is gearing up to release another sin on the world. Which sin will it be… no one knows; so be prepared for Pandoras Box to be kpened again.

Signing new artist:
As everyone knows by now Apex Records is looking to sign a hip hop group and a solo artist this Jan. We have been keeping the datils about this signing hush hush until everything has been finalized. But we can for sure say that we are going to be signing new artist for the month of Jan. Be sure to stay intuned for more updates as everything will take place this Jan 2012.

Introducing – Kiev

There’s a lot to be said for this guy, but no matter where you start, you’ll always come back to how his sub bass perfectly complements his tracks. Whether rolling rhythms or thumping bangers, this guy may well be the master of the 20-80Hz range!

Here’s our interview, and a few bonus tracks!

Dubstep Origins:  First up, what’s your name, how old are you and where are you based?

Kiev: My real name is Daniel Elorza, I’m 21 years old and I’m from Caracas, Venezuela.

DO:  How long have you been producing for, and how would you describe your style?

K: I’ve been producing for about a year now, maybe a little more than that. It’s complicated to say what style I have, I mean, I think music comes naturally. I produce dubstep as a main platform but I’m always pushing myself to try different things, not just 140bpm songs (laughs). I think the most definable style I can came up with is very subby, deep dubstep, sometimes more dramatic type of songs and sometimes more chilled ones.

DO:  Who or what introduced you to dubstep?

K: The first thing that introduced me to it was a special mix from Pacheko for a local radio station in 2007. It was like nothing I’ve listened to before. Since then I’ve embraced it as one of my favourite genres, it’s the bass y’know! That sh*t’s hard to quit (laughs). Back then I wasn’t even making music, curiosity of how it was done came after, and I guess now I’m here!

DO:  Which artists are currently influencing your production?

K: I started listened to Rusko and early Caspa in 2007, they were the only artists I knew at the time. I eventually listened to more of those mainstream artists, but Mala came to town once and I was completely shocked with his show. People went absolutely crazy with this minimalist, deep type of dubstep. The club was shaking ‘cause of the roaring subs. Definitely he influenced me a lot on that side, I would be making some horrible midrange dubstep right now if it wasn’t for him! Production-wise I think I try to do something more from the heart rather than what I hear from other artists. It’s more of a personal thing going on in my productions rather than try to sound like anyone else.

DO:  In your eyes, what is dubstep as a genre?

K: I see dubstep as music you have to feel rather than dance to. I can spend a whole day rinsing with a sub and a catchy rhythm! I don’t think it’s necessary to have some expert production to be good and listenable, I’m more a sub person than a filthy one (laughs).

DO:  What’s on your playlist at the moment?

K: I’m loving all the new MEDi releases, artists like v.i.v.e.k, Phaeleh, Jack Sparrow, Eskmo are killing it recently. Two guys from Belgium called Subreachers are making outstanding music right now and then there’s some sh*t you can never quite quit, like Tool, Deftones, Portishead and Bossa Nova stuff, wicked music!

DO:  Anything else you’d like to add?

K: Yes! I have a release forthcoming very soon on Apex Records so make sure to cop that if you feel to. Not sure on their release date yet but I think it’s going out before the year finishes. Another thing, it’s very difficult to reach people lately with your music, this has become a very monopolised industry, so once in a while get on soundcloud and myspace and listen to other artist rather than the ones you’re listening to right now. You might get surprised with the amount of people making such incredible music and they’re in their bedrooms waiting for someone to noticed them, and the most important thing ever, give some love, don’t hate!
