The Hype about the Apple iPhone 3G

Apple iPhone is a phone that is gaining its popularity with every increasing day. This smart iPhone is really smart enough to provide you with various exciting features that give you a complete experience of a small gadget. A perfect voice control facility will help you in recognizing the contacts.  All you have to do is to ask for a call or to play a song. Landscape keyboard allows you to use larger keyboard facility for the mail, messages, notes and safari.
Accessibility features for visually or hearing impaired includes a zooming feature, White on Black audio options, voiceover screen reader, and Mono Audio.

Apple 3G iPhone makes it possible for you to access the internet facility almost anywhere. All you need to do is to share your 3G connection of your iPhone with your Mac notebook or PC laptop. So yeah it’s 1:30am and I’m posting this because I think one of my prayers has been answered. No, it hasn’t been to meet Gina Carano. That will be answered another day.

News Feed Section: Photo insert to update your status, update status bar, the news feed stream that shows you right on the same page whether it’s been commented or not.

Profile Section: Let’s you reload without shaking although that feature is still available. Wall, Info, and Photo tabs on the bottom of the screen.

Chat: The chat section hasn’t changed much. It is in alphabetical order now and they have clearer status icons with the sorter on the right-hand side.

Events & Birthday: Happy Birthday Ivon! Now the Events and Birthdays are group together and are sorted by date and it shows age.

Photos: This was cleaned up. Looks great!

Notes: This was also cleaned up.

Favorites Section: This is new and cool something that I think I will be taking advantage of. You can add friends and page shortcuts to this page so you don’t have to sort through your long list of friends.

Friends List: Yeah I know you see the two tabs on the bottom. You can view both friends and pages. BUT what’s that little phone icon next to Alex Grant’s name. Oh yeah! I forgot. If your friends posted their numbers on facebook home, mobile, or business you can call/text them straight from the friends list. How effin cool is that? See picture below.

Since this is there first release for some people it may lag. So far for me it has been smooth although I’ve had to wait a few times for pages to load. There are still some bugs so please be patient.

I honestly have to say that I might give up browsing on the web for a while and just do it on my phone. What I still don’t like about the iPhone Facebook App is the Facebook picture sync that is missing. The Blackberry has it but why doesn’t the iPhone have it yet?

After meeting with Apple Computer CFO Peter Oppenheimer and VP of Product Marketing for iPod Greg Joswiak, analysts for Bear Stearns said they are optimistic about the company’s outlook for the second half of 2006 and that an iPod phone appears to be in the works.”We came away optimistic about Apple’s outlook for 2H06 with potentially a complete refresh of the iPod, ‘true’ video iPod and other new product launches, though timing is hard to call,” analyst Andy Neff wrote in a research note to clients. “However, ‘true’ video iPod (if launched) is likely to be offered as a complimentary product to iPods.”Neff also acknowledged that investors are anxious about iPod data points, which appears to be causing some weakness in Apple’s share price. “We would use the near-term weakness as a buying opportunity,” he wrote.Bear Stearns maintains a Buy rating on shares of Apple with a price target of $94.

The Apple iPhone 3GS is probably not the next revolutionary iPhone as you might have expected it. But the performance boost, the sharper camera with video and the purportedly improved battery life certainly make of the current iPhone (3GS or whatever it is called this year) a much more balanced smartphone, one that you could probably wave in front your geeky friends more proudly. Well, you’d still get the chilling disapproving look, but at least you won’t feel as embarrassed as you used to.

The truth about the iPhone is this – perhaps about 20 million people around the globe are quoted as having given in to the iPhone temptation ever since the frenzy started. Now, 2 years later, the rest of the modern world is already sick to death of hearing all about it.

Once ground-breaking, but still as controversial and inspiring as ever, the iPhone lineup has just received its latest offspring. Meet the iPhone 3GS, where “S” can mean a lot of things, but without a doubt covers all that’s needed for “Speed”.

Using last year’s design but boasting some extra powerful hardware, the iPhone 3GS is supposed to, and indeed is, running up to 2 times better than what Apple have offered us so far. This speed boost doesn’t bring substantial new capabilities to the table. Instead it’s more like the hardware catching up with what we can still call one of the most advanced and user-friendly touch user interfaces to-date (in the realm of GSM mobile phones, of course).

It’s all a bit silly, isn’t it? Nothing, especially a mobile phone, truly deserves the amount of attention heaped upon the iPhone 3G. Yet, such is the nature of the device, the company that makes it and the media that follows it all, it attracts the kind of hysteria normally reserved for the front page of The Daily Mail. Throw in a launch with Monty Pyhon-esque levels of farce – albeit nothing like as funny – and it’s a recipe for weeks of discussion, dissection and, quite often, vitriol.

All of which is a shame because, as the original Apple iPhone proved, this is a product that can quite easily stand alone without the hype. Not perfect, granted, even now it still lacks one or two features many regard as essential, but then the iPhone has a few things no-one can even touch – touch being one of them. The iPhone 3G then is not the revolutionary device that the original was, more of an incremental upgrade, but it’s all the better for those upgrades.

Let’s start with the headline grabbing feature: 3G. There it sits, two little letters that signify one massive, nay essential, addition to the iPhone. Notwithstanding the brilliance of the original iPhone, and it was brilliant, the addition of 3G really makes this the product the original should have been. Where before one tolerated the EDGE network to enjoy the fruits of the effortless touch sensitive navigation, sleek design and the unique web browsing, now it’s possible to enjoy all of these in a package that delivers a Mobile Internet experience fit for this fast paced modern age of ours.

How big is this difference? Well, using the 2G EDGE network it takes 38 seconds to download the BBC homepage, while on 3G it takes only 18.5. All told around twice as fast and that test was run in a relatively low 3G signal area, so in stronger signal areas the difference will be all the greater – Apple claims 3G is around 2.4 times faster. Just for reference, on standard 2G GPRS you’ll be waiting over two minutes.

For those Apple fans that were wondering if a new iPhone will be released, worry no longer. Earlier today at the WWDC Apple announced the iPhone 3G S. No cosmetic changes were made to the phone, but under the hood is a completely different story. Some key upgrades include:

• faster processor (load apps 3-5x faster)
• longer battery life
• 3 megapixel camera (video recording & editing, auto focus, auto exposure)
• magnetometer (digital compass)
• higher memory capacity
• built in voice control
