Samsung wants a new trial. Apple is seeking an additional $707 million in damages and interest.

The two companies filed a blizzard of legal papers late Friday and early Saturday with their demands that a federal judge in San Jose significantly amend — or toss out altogether — the jury’s Aug. 24 verdict.

The jury found that 26 Samsung products ripped off Apple’s technology at the heart of its iPhones and iPads.

U.S. District Judge Lucy Koh has scheduled a Dec. 6 hearing to discuss the myriad issues raised by both companies. Samsung says it will appeal if Koh turns down its demands.

Seems as if the Apple Maps App is causing a few issues to its users of IOS 6 and iPhone 5 handsets.

Users are complaining about cities not existing, not being where they should be on the map or even being named correctly

TomTom are saying that their software is not to blame, and Apple developers are on “lockdown” to fix these issues (iOS 6.1 anyone????)

Seems that the plan to

destroy Google

has backfired spectacularly, instead of releasing your “own” Maps App, why don’t you make sure it works!!!!

So if you can’t read a map or follow the Underground or Bus routes in London I suggest you learn and pretty quick too, as you may be late for that interview or meeting if you rely on the Maps App.

Apple have issued the following statement

“Customers around the world are upgrading to iOS 6 with over 200 new features including Apple Maps, our first map service. We are excited to offer this service with innovative new features like Flyover, turn by turn navigation, and Siri integration.

We launched this new map service knowing it is a major initiative and that we are just getting started with it. Maps is a cloud-based solution and the more people use it, the better it will get. We appreciate all of the customer feedback and are working hard to make the customer experience even better

Does this reassure the user, basically if you notice a mistake, report it and Apple will investigate???? Surely you would have purchased A-Z books for all the countries you were launching in AND make sure it was as accurate as possible…….common sense for Cupertino !!!!!!!

Surely someone’s head has got to roll for this, for sure this has taken the sheen off Apple’s iPhone 5 launch, how can something so simple become so wrong, next time Tim Cook takes to that stage at the WWDC can someone at Apple make sure that ALL the features work correctly!!!!!!

Placing music into your iPod MANUALLY – This is very easy.  All you need to do is:

• Plug your iPod into your PC via USB
• Load iTunes
• Select your iPod in the iTunes menu under devices, make sure it is on SUMMARY.  Summary is located to the right above the iPod image.

• With SUMMARY selected.  Scroll down this page to the bottom of the page where “Options” are located.  Click a check box labeled “Manually manage music and videos”

• Drag your music or video into your iPod (under the title devices).  You can drag music/video from your iTunes library.

• After you drag music or video into your iPod device, you are ready to go!  The media should now be located in your iPod.

WARNING:  The iPod will not automatically sync all your music from your library into your iPod if you have the “Manually Manage Music and Videos” option selected.  Simply deselect this option and reconnect your iPod to allow for an automatic sync.

TIP:  Only certain video formats will work on an iPod (mostly MP4 format).  Use Leawo Video Converter to help convert your videos to any proper format.

TIP: Dragging a playlist from your iTunes library into your iPod (under devices) is a quick way to copy and recreate that playlist in your iPod.  Selecting any music/video folder or any music/video file on your PC, and dragging it into your iPod, is also an easy way to add music to your iPod without using the iTunes library.  This is all possible as long as you have selected the manually manage music and video option.

I checked discussions.apple.com and tried ensuring my Time Zone was set to automatic. Didn’t work.

My console is saying this:

Not much on the goog about this.

I am not making light of that as it really is an ongoing conundrum in my life. I love reading and I like to look at my shelves filled with books that I have read. Some evenings, when the house is quiet and I am alone, I will scan the shelves and try to remember something about each book, some of which pre-date my birth.

On the other hand, there is something to be said for the convenience of carrying around a 1.33lb piece of Apple technology that currently is home to thirty four books, not to mention a couple of thousand songs.

For the record, I was always a Daily News reader. I could never (and still) do not like the New York Times…even during my days as a young liberal, waiting to grow up and become an adult. (I used to get the Village Voice)

PS…I wonder why he doesn’t mention the Wall Street Journal?

I have an Android phone and an iPod Touch device. On my Android the application called “Google Play Store” takes up some 9.2Mb of space on my phone. The “old” Market application takes up less than 1Mb.

The problem is that if I want to download an app onto my Android, I have to now use the new Google Play and my phone just doesn’t have enough space for another 9Mb app. So I have to uninstall the new version which then reverts to the smaller “Market” app.

But when I try to load another app, Market is automatically replaced with Google Play again!!!

This is extremely frustrating and I just don’t want a 9Mb app on my phone just to download apps. Going forward, if I can’t use my Android phone because of this issue, I’ll probably just buy an iPhone and bye bye Google market.

Please Google, can we have a lite Google play app.

Common sense, don’t make apps so big that you can’t use your mobile device anymore!
