Photowhat? Yeah, that’s right, these guys have gone and created a streamlined version of Photoshop (Elements if you like…) that works in your browser. For. Free. Not quite sure how they’ve got away with ripping off Adobe’s UI and menus but it’s bloody impressive that they have and all the key functions are here. For a bit of light web-image-manipulation-on-the-go, this could be just the thing!

A continuation of the line of thought started in Application a while back.

Humans think for 2 reasons – Discovery and Application. Our Applications can be categorized 2 ways – Selfish or Unselfish.

Selfish or Unselfish. Which is better? We tend to have negative thoughts about Selfish behavior, but is it really possible to be completely Unselfish?

No.

Why? Well, for one thing, feeding ourselves while other people are starving is a selfish act, but anyone could tell you that taken to it’s Logical Conclusion, behaving 100% unselfishly about food will result in your eventual death by starvation. You can always find someone else who might need that food more than you do. Selfishness is required, to some degree, for individual survival.

If selfishness is required to some degree, where do we draw the line between Selfish and Unselfish behavior? Where do we find guidance on this?

Today I had an actual interview for a legitimate position with a real company!  I arrived about 15 minutes early and filled out their application.  Then I was called in to interview with 2 of the 5 people in the office.  They introduced themselves, told me about the company.  They had a list of “stock” questions from their main office in California so we over those.   Then they asked me if I had any questions, we chatted a bit and they said they would be calling back tomorrow to either schedule a 2^nd interview or tell me I’m not the one.  I believe they actually will call, one way or the other, unlike some of the other places I’ve talked to. 

I then stopped by an employment agency that has had several jobs listed on one of the online job sites I visit frequently.  They had me fill out their application and I was really surprised to see that part of their contract talked about fees paid if they get me a job.  I didn’t know those agencies still existed.  One of the job counselors was available to talk with me (I didn’t have an appointment).  I asked about that because I hadn’t seen that in over 20 years and she said it’s very rare that the employer doesn’t pay the fee these days, but they still work with a few who won’t.  Of course, you always have the choice of whether you want to accept a position.  

When I got home I had a few travel quotes to work on.  Spent about 2 hours on that, then headed out to Seattle for a board meeting of our local chapter of NACTA (National Association of Career Travel Agents).  Happy to be home. 

I feel I had a productive day.  Now, I’ve got to get back to the job sites and send out more resumes.

It was a long class today. Every minute was about a day by Normah’s internal clock. Mr. Leonard’s voice was slow and boring. She heard his lecture but she wasn’t listening. She took some video with her phone of the boy next to her then started to draw over the frames. She drew a satellite orbiting his big round head. The bell rang. Jasmine asked me a couple of weeks ago if I could help her write an essay for a high school application.  I told her to start working on it and that we’d get together to go over it.

We went to Jupiter Outpost, one of my new fave coffeehouses, yesterday.

I learned a new phrase, “Stop jockin’ me” which you’d say to someone who is all up in your business, someone who follows you around like a puppy dog.  I learned that Jasmine doesn’t like to drink hot beverages, even hot chocolate, because she likes to drink fast.  I learned that her grandmother, who adopted her as a baby because her mom was struggling with drugs, is sick and that she asked Jasmine, “What would you do if I die?” to which Jasmine responded with tears.  I learned that the house phone and Jasmine’s cell had been switched off because her sister decided to buy shoes instead of pay the phone bill.  I learned that “It’s not fair” that I can type fast and that it’s necessary to take a two-minute break after typing each paragraph.  I learned that grammar rules like putting two spaces after periods but only one after commas are “silly.”

Glancing down at the essay Jasmine wrote in response to “Who in your life has most influenced you to go to college?” I saw my name.  Oh no – my eyes start to fill.

There have been two people in my life that encouraged me to attend college.

My mother, who is really my grandmother, started taking care of me when my mother got sick.  She adopted me when I was a baby.  My friend Saya, we’ve known each other for a long time.  We met at Saturday school, where we did fun activities, went on lots of field trips, and had lots of good times there.  She was the coordinator of Saturday school.  Saya is a really nice lady and she has been for a very long time.

They both encouraged me to go to college.  They tell me that if I don’t go to college, that I won’t be able to get a good job and earn enough money to buy my own home.  I’ll go to college and I’ve always known that one day I will become a lawyer.  This is important to me because I want to help innocent people including my family and friends.

My real mother tells me that she wants me to get a degree because she doesn’t want me to be like her or my grandmother, neither of who even have a high school degree.  It’s important to my mom that I graduate from college, get a good job, and become someone in life.

My friend Saya told me that it’s essential to continue onto college because college can help you do things that you never thought you would ever be able to do.  Also, she said that a college degree is necessary to be hired for most jobs.

Hello there, how are you?

Today I was browsing the Internet, acquiring some knowledge if you prefer to call it like that, and I came across a posting that had the right path of creativity, therefore, I decided to re-invent it, edit it, and change it for your delightful entertainment.  Hopefully all of us girls can identify.. By all means, if you want to add another point, be my guest, this list can only keep getting better, that way we will find PRINCE CHARMING…

My Boyfriend Application and Test

First, a little about me. I’m a 26-year-old, very  good looking and intelligent Latina, with a full time Job and  attending University. I’m tired of wasting my time, so I have formulated some mandatory criteria in part A, and part B is based on points.

Part A

1) You must be born male. I’ll need to see a birth certificate proving so.

2) You must own something to wear to a formal reception. And at least a couple formal shoes.
3) You must not own or ever wear Birkenstocks, crocs footwear or wrangler jeans. Or wear your jeans so low, that  I can see the end of your briefs.
4) All your parts need to be in good working order, further testing will need to be conducted of course.
5) I can’t accept a regular drug user. Despite CA culture, I am including weed.
6) You must own at least four collared dress shirts. You need to look presentable standing next to me.
7) Your height must be proportional to your weight using the standard AMA guidelines. (fyi, I do prefer them taller than me, so you have to be at least 6 feet) .
You must have a couple photos which were  taken in the last 2 months.

Some days it feels as though time is just dragging by and I count every minute just waiting for the day to be over. Then there are those days that you just dont feel as though there are enough hours in the day to get everything done.  I am currently having one of those days, although I do admit a lot of it is due to me just putting stuff off and wasting my time doing other things such as posting on here!

Anyhow back to the topic, I had an extremely busy day at work, from the moment I wake up I am just go go go, always something to be done or thought about, I made it home and made dinner which was a slight disappointment ( more on that later), I had loads of stuff to catch up with online, I still have stuff to do and I want to watch I`m a celeb on tv tonight so I need to get it done before then!

The reason I`m in such a rush is I have decided to apply to Uni for next year to do Radiography, so I`m in a major hurry to try and get my application form submitted. This means I have a personal statement to write and if there is one thing I am useless at, it is writing essays, so I`m in a total pickle. I also have to pick my choices and I am utterly clueless about all the Unis in England offering it and the towns they are in, I dont want to apply somewhere and then find out I hate the place.  I have been pondering this decision for a while and Im not sure its really what I want to do, I really dont want to go to Uni but at the end of the course it would be a job with a certain amount of job security, so I figured I may as well pop in an application while I think about it.

I`m  being tempted more and more every day by my eating disorder. Although I did cut out my supplement drinks and stopped trying to gain weight, I still followed a very rigid plan with a good intake to ensure that I didnt lose and also that I didnt screw up my metabolism. My ed now though is saying to me daily but your not trying to gain anymore so why bother forcing yourself to eat something higher in calories, you dont need to do that anymore, its ok to eat things lower.

Grrr, I can just never win, I terrified to gain weight and Im terrified to lose and I`m annoyed I`m maintaining at times. I worry constantly about feeling hungry, I am scared to feel hungry. This sounds bizarre coming from someone who is recovering from anorexia but its like when I feel hungry I dont know how to cope with that, I cant tell if I truly am hungry or if its an emotional thing.  So to stop myself feeling hungry I tend to fill up on lots of healthy options and now I am scared that I have got my body used to expecting always being fed these amounts and frequent meals. How will I ever manage to cope on maybe the same amount of calories but in less volume?

I think I get scared to if I`m hungry, I`ll turn to binging on nuts and stuff. Sometimes if I drop my intake out of guilt I`ll eat some nuts and then that ends up being alot and I feel guilty and the whole cycle goes on again. I`m always so fearful of that and I think thats partly why I am so rigid with my eating, I`m so scared of that happening.

Ugh, I dont know if any of that made sense. I guess what I`m really after is just wanting to get back to a normal relationship with food, how I ever get there I dont know. How do you ever stop counting? Balancing? Pre-planning? It sounds almost impossible!

So now for my disappointing dinner, I finally decided to try my pumpkin. I was a little lost as to what I should do with it. I tried tinned pumpkin once and wasnt impressed but this was a proper one. So I decided to chop it up, blast it in the microwave and then roast it in the oven. I then stir fried some chicken in sesame oil with a mixture of veggies and adding the pumpkin in at the end and covered all in soy sauce.

Hmm, well it looks pretty and colourful! Sounds quite tasty and everything was, I loved the mix of the veggies since I dont normally eat that sort of mixture: cabbage, sprouts, red onion, carrot, leeks etc. The problem was my pumpkin just tasted so, well bland?

I had it sitting in my kitchen for ages so maybe that had something to do with it but overall it tasted really bland. So if anyone has any tips or advice on pumpkins please pass them on!
