maybe this is my last night in Bandung this year. and once again i’m sorry for once again neglecting this blog because…

okay, so i played, though i can’t really hear myself and the crowd’s reaction was so-so, i had some fun. i wish people would get me to play for their bands more, so i can get more experience and hopefully, skill.

so implicitly i just said i’m not very skilled, yet i want people to get me to play as their guitarist. ironic, eh?

then again maybe you don’t have to be skilled to have fun, and enjoy the music.

and i guess i could name at least 2 people who’d laugh at me because i just said the above statements

"Smoke Free" in Hakuba

A quick trip into Tokyo today. It is good to head into the city once in a while and I love the craziness of this place. The fact that you have to go into a restaurant to smoke as you are not allowed to smoke in the streets is backwards to anywhere else. In regards to smoking, our hotels are all smoke free throughout including the bars and restaurants however there are spots outside with ashtrays and for those that may feel they will want to smoke  then there are some rooms with balcony’s. Smokers should remember to be courteous while on the mountains and also use the pocket ashtrays that are available from many shops around town.

The opening party for the Double Black Hotel in Hakuba that we also manage was held last night with a few good friends and a few more new ones. The evening went well and everybody had a great time. As the drink driving rule in Japan enforces a 0% alchol level I decided to walk home back to Echoland. It was a cool yet pleasant evening and only took me 25 minutes. It will be the last chance probably for a number of months to be able to walk out there without the worry of slipping on the ice. Everybody should remember to beware of the slippery roads and paths and when there is snow it is best to walk on the crunchie stuff.

The White Horse Bar is a great place for Ski Apres

A typical evening for our guests would be to arrive back from the mountain in our personal shuttle. Exausted bodies trudge into the drying room to inch their boots off and feel that most beautiful moment of our sport when your feet are free, second only to putting your boots on.  Most people opt straight for the onsen bath to relax their well worn bodies in this most magnificent time tested Japanese tradition. Some decide to have a nice icy cold Asahi beer whilst their body soothes in the hot bath. Others may choose to join their partner with a bottle of champagne and a chilled out moment with no cares. Once the core body temperature is back to normal and the muscles are soothed by the soft Hakuba waters it is time to convene to the bar to debrief with the other guests on the days activities. Good wines, icy cold beers and some well shaken cocktails help everyone along the way to choosing the best place to eat for the evening. For those who are totally relaxed it might be a night in the White Horse for a big juicy steak or others will choose to take a short stroll down to the main Echoland strip to taste some of the local delicacies. There are so many options here and we are here to help you with your selection. After dinner you may be keen on a little karaoke or just to relax at a little bar for a night cap. Others have been known to kick on to one of the nightclubs in the area till the wee hours of the morning.  The more snow that falls is usually a good indication of the time that everyone will be tucked up in bed. Early to bed and early to rise to get the first tracks in the morning. Come and enjoy the best of Hakuba.

then again 2nd mid-test is coming….wait, what?

is there such a thing as a 2nd mid-test? i mean, yes the test is there in the curriculum, but the term is kinda…itchy on the ears. so like, there’s two middles. and the best reason i can think of is because a semester consists of 6 months, meaning that the mid-semester is between the 3rd and 4th month, and either because of more curriculum “improvements” from the government or campus policy yadda yadda yadda, they decided to make 2 mid-tests? not to mention there’d be a final test anyways.

so it’s time to hit the freaking bed. but suddenly i found out that in my room, the ants are acting up again and there’s a potential hole in here because i see termites and their shed wings.thank God i haven’t found any worker termites. God knows how i’ll freak out.

2 keigoede events staan dit jaar ook weer gepland in Ambicafé Sequel aan de Koning Astridlaan: de “Was het nu 90 of Tien Om Te Zien party’ op 28 november en de Après skiparty met bijhorende winterbarbeque op 28 december. En dan komt de oudejaarsparty er nog bij.

Op zaterdag 28 november vanaf 20u is het opnieuw een stormloop naar Ambicafé Sequel, wanneer DJ Robbie de beste hits draait uit de jaren 90 gemixt met Nederlandstalige liedjes uit VTM’s Tien Om Te Zien.  De serveerploeg is zich al aan het klaarstomen om de vele bestellingen te kunnen verwerken.

Op maandag 28 december is het dan weer de Après skiparty met de winterbarbeque, bereid buiten op straat.  De BBQ start al vanaf 18u en voorinschrijven is verplicht, want de plaatsen zijn beperkt. Voor 20 euro krijg je 3 stukken vlees, aperitief, gewone consumptie en koffie. De après skiparty start vanaf 20u. Er staat zelfs een happy hour van 90 minuten van 22u tot 23u30 op de affiche. Dat betekent 2 voor de prijs van 1.

Met New Year @ Sequel pakt de Sequelploeg een nieuw concept op om eindejaar zonder veel problemen te vieren. Voor 20 euro inkom mag je de ganse oudejaarsavond gratis drinken zoveel en wat je maar wil, behalve voor cava en cocktails. De party vangt aan op 31 december om 20u en eindigt in de loop van nieuwjaarsdag.

La City. Grand soleil. Tiens, une nouvelle tour ! Bon, le petit Italien de Spitalfield market n’a pas disparu, et le vendeur ambulant d’excellent cafe est toujours la, ouf !

Voila, c’est fini… Que dis-je ? C’est reparti ! Redecouvrir (oh, au moins mille choses) Londres et Paris. Revoir les gens qui m’ont manque. Deguster de bons petits plats. Retrouver un vrai lit… Et preparer le prochain voyage ^_^
