Your book Reel Bad Arabs  deals with how Hollywood films portray Arabs. It’s certainly comprehensive. Just how many films did you watch?

 About 95 percent of the 900-plus films I discuss – the movies I could not see were the silent films of the early 1900s – they were destroyed–films such as “The Arab” and an early sound flick, “Tom Mix in Arabia,” and a 1926 cartoon: “Felix the Cat Shatters the Sheik.”

What motivated you to undertake such a daunting task?

I’d always been sensitive to hurtful images…I grew up in a small steel town, Clairton, pa, just outside of Pittsburgh. A terrific place to interact with various ethnic groups. One problem, though. Blacks were still considered to be “less smart.” I had several good black friends. Some of my white pals looked down on them because of their color; I would speak out and defend them but it was difficult, being a single voice and going against the tide.

Also, our home was free of prejudicial barbs. No one vilified another person because of color creed or culture. Not a single member of the family.

Later, in the late 1960s when I began teaching at southern Illinois I started seeing all these ugly Arab caricatures prowling TV screens. Then, my children saw them on Saturday morning cartoons, asking, “who are these ugly Arabs?” so I went to the library and tried to find some research. Zilch. No essays…no books… so, I began reading everything I could find on how others were demonzined in the media – Jews- Asians- Blacks- American Indians. The readings helped and I became the first scholar to seriously examine this issue – though all my research was not is any way related to the my broadcast journalism. Thus, I had two jobs – normal teaching during the day and at night, researching Arab images in us popular culture.

There are over seven million Arab-Americans living in the US. Have you been able to find any positive or even neutral portrayals of Arabs in US movies?

 Yes…notably recent films such as Three Kings and The 13th Warrior and Party Girl . To save time, see my recommended rba viewing list.

 What is the overall stereotype of Arabs depicted in US films?

Subhumans – Arab Muslims are fanatics who believe in a different god, who don’t value human life as much as we do, they are intent on destroying us – the west – with there oil or with their terrorism; the men seek to abduct and brutally seduce our women; they are without family and reside in a primitive place – the desert – and behave like primitive beings. The women are subservient – resembling black crows or we see them as mute, somewhat exotic harem maidens.

 If you had to name the three worst modern films in terms of a negative portrayal of Arabs what would they be and why?

• Rules of Engagement – film justifies us marines killing Arab women and children
• Wanted Dead or Alive- Arab thugs with the help of American Arab terrorists plan to ignite Los Angeles – killing millions
• True Lies- Arnold S. INC shoots dead Palestinians like clay pigeons
   

How do they get away with such racism? If Jews or Black people were depicted in this way there would be an outcry. How come few say anything about this?

Fear of being perceived as pro-Arab, greed, pro-Israeli feelings, lack of an American Arab pressure group in la, reluctance of any major political or church leader to condemn this stereotype.

 How far do you think negative portrayals of Arabs in films and fiction influence the way Americans (in particular) interpret the news? How does it colour the way they view the Palestinian/Israeli conflict for example?

100 percent. Consider. What we do not see is also as important if not more important than what we do see. What, for example, would be the public and policy behavior if we stereotyped Israelis as sub humans in the same way we show Arabs as sub humans? Think about it.

You were a consultant on the 1999 post-Gulf war film ‘Three Kings’. How did that come about?

 Terrific. Because the two producers with whom I worked – Chuck Roven and Doug Segal – did not want to vilify anyone. We were a fantastic team – mutual respect prevailed. I was brought in from the beginning and met regularly with them -an on-going dialogue.

You had two Jewish producers on that film. What did the think of these issues? Were the sympathetic to your attempts to portray Arabs (in this case Iraqis) in a more complex and sympathetic way?

I never think about a producer’s color or religion. I simply study the artist’s movie[s] and praise/criticize him/her based on what appears on the screen.

What was the reaction to your book when it was published in the US?

 Not bad. The problem was and remains: the popular trade entertainment/film.TV magazines – Variety – Premiere, Hollywood reported, Film Comment, People, Entertainment Weekly – failed to review, acknowledge the book’s existence. N.Y. times and Washington post were silent. No major TV critic who reviews movies addressed it. Not one.

Has the reaction in the UK been any different?

More receptive, more interest, more concern, more intelligence

 What are you working on at the moment?

 Documenting how American TV shows project American Arabs and American Muslims.

“Mawlana Ala’ ad-Din Abizi was also one of Mawlana Sa’d ad-Din Kashghari’s companions. He came from a village called Abiz in the vicinity of Kuhistan. After the death of the venerable Mawalana Sa’d ad-Din, he continued in the service of the venerable Mawlana Jami, who treated him with great care and attention, and likened his character to fresh and pure soil.

…The venerable Shaikh ‘Abd al-Kabir once asked Mawlana Ala’ ad-Din: “When your Shaikh was ill at ease, what did he say to you?” Mawlana replied: “When you come to my side, you collect yourself and remember Allah. Even if you are far away from me, you must not forget, so that you do not fall apart!”

The Shaikh then asked him: “And how did you respond?” He said: “With silence.” The Shaikh said: “That was very inconsiderate of you! You ought to have said: ‘We cannot know Allah, but we do know you!”

According to the author of the Rashahat:

One of the great saints has said: “The disciple sees himself in his own mirror, but he does not see himself in the mirror of his Shaikh.” In Samarqand, I heard the venerable Khwaja ‘Ubaidu ‘llah say: “Since you have not been able to see Allah while I am still alive, what will you do after I have died?” The saying of Shaikh ‘Abd al-Kabir must also be understood in this sense. What the venerable Shaikh sought to convey is not that one cannot recognize and know Allah from the fundamental standpoint, and that spiritual knowledge of the Divine [ma’rifa Ilahiyya] is of little importance. It is rather intended to show the seeker the method of concentration, and to establish him in this practice. The pilot of those who learn by direct experience, the venerable Amir Husain, says in his works: “The seeker must become annihilated [fani] in his concentration on his spiritual guide, so that inner knowledge may be revealed to him from the countenance of his Shaikh.”

If the seeker strives to reach his goal by ways of the Shaikh alone, he will reach his goal… the seeker must therefore remind himself, the one road to Allah’s good pleasure is the good pleasure of the Shaikh, and he must act accordingly The route to arrival at the Truth, and to contact with the Truth, passes through the heart of the Shaikh. In reality, the heart of the Shaikh is the home of Allah…This means that the wisdom contained in the saying of the venerable Shaikh ‘Abd al-Kabir -“We cannot know Allah, but we know you!”- is also related to this subtlety. It is tantamount to saying: “You are the door that leads to Allah! The house is entered through the door!” It shows the seeker the way to his goal.”

Gilo has been a residential suburb of Jerusalem since 1971. The land was purchased by Jews before World War II.

The suburb of Gilo is very different from the so-called Jewish outpost in Judea and Samaria, whom the Arabs and International media calls «The West Bank». Gilo is not in East Jerusalem as widely reported, but in southwest Jerusalem within the municipal borders.

It is a Jerusalem neighborhood with a population of around 40,000. The ground was bought by Jews before WWII and settled in 1971. There is no inference whatsoever that it rests on private Arab land.

My comment:

To claim that Jews can not build in Gilo is not only racism against the Jewish people. Its also a daylight robbery of Jewish properties.

The Arabs have always been jealous of the Zionist Jews, that returned to Eretz Israel. In modern time, the great return home to Israel started around 1895. The Jews that returned home purchased land, wherever there was a owner to be traced in this massive wasteland.

The Jews purchased sand dunes, and rocky soil.

When the Jews liberated the so called West Bank from Islamic occupation in 1967, Jews also came home to the Mountains of Zion. They gave the local Arabs the job of constructing houses. The Arabs had a saying:

«Good the Zionist are building such beautiful houses. Because one day we will just take the key´s from them, and declare these houses as Palestinians properties».

In plain English: This is theft and robbery, promoted by Islam as a struggle for independence.

Why has Gilo first developed in 1971?

Because from 1948 to 1967, East Jerusalem was occupied by Islamic forces. The Kingdom of Jordan did not give Jews access to their properties in the suburbs. The Islamic occupation was the real Apartheid.

The Neocon Republican Terrorist vision of a divided and segregated America, where everybody that is not a white Anglo-saxon Christian is considered cannon fodder and trash, is coming to fruition. It is reminiscent of the reaction to the new population of freed slaves that the white former slave masters had after they were soundly defeated in the Civil War by the Union army.

This is the period in our history called Reconstruction where,for a decade after the Civil War,blacks gained political power, and some attained financial wealth as well.

During Reconstruction, southern whites turned violent when they saw blacks making major gains.

 Reconstruction was followed in the South by domination by the Democratic Party and the enactment of Jim Crow laws, grandfather clauses and similar measures. The bitterness and repercussions from the heated conflicts of the era lasted well into the twentieth century.

Southern state governments quickly enacted the restrictive “black codes“. However, they were abolished in 1866 and seldom had effect, because the Freedman’s Bureau (not the local courts) handled the legal affairs of freedmen.

The Black Codes indicated the plans of the southern whites for the former slaves.^[24] The freedmen would have more rights than did free blacks before the war, but they still had only a limited set of second-class civil rights, no voting rights, and, since they were not citizens, they could not own firearms, serve on a jury in a lawsuit involving whites or move about without employment.^[25] The Black Codes would limit blacks’ ability to control their own employment. The Black Codes outraged northern opinion. They were overthrown by the Civil Rights Act of 1866 that gave the Freedmen full legal equality (except for the right to vote).^[26

 There were many reported murders of blacks in the south during reconstruction, but many killings of blacks went unreported, and by all accounts, millions upon millions of African-Americans were killed by the hands of bitter southerners, as reported in this account taken from Wikipedia by a soldier visiting from the North...

The number of murders and assaults perpetrated upon Negroes is very great; we can form only an approximate estimate of what is going on in those parts of the South which are not closely garrisoned, and from which no regular reports are received, by what occurs under the very eyes of our military authorities. As to my personal experience, I will only mention that during my two days sojourn at Atlanta, one Negro was stabbed with fatal effect on the street, and three were poisoned, one of whom died.

In todays modern post-racial world, we have organizations and groups that have a mission to keep track of, and to investigate the existence of, the number of racially motivated,or bias motivated crimes against minorities,religious groups, gay Americans.

Currently, America is going through another Reconstruction like era,as we are experiencing the racial backlash of hatred based on the election of our first black president,Barack Obama.

The election of Barack has caused a rise in all forms of hate crimes, as well as the emergence of the Ku Klux Klan as a force to stoke the flames of hatred and encouraging physical action of violence against blacks, Gays, and all other religious groups that are not Christian.

What is most distressing is that the tide of racial violence is being egged on and financed by the foreigner Rupert Murdoch, and the entire Republican party,that at one time represented the opposite of what they believe in now.

For a group that, centuries ago, used to be the main supporter of civil rights, they currently are the main driving force behind this increasing tide of racism and bigotry that is the rage in most of the states in America.

The racist are moving from the south, and invading the once liberal California, in order to spread their southern tradition of hatred and illiteracy. Hate crimes based on sexual orientation shot up 21 percent in Los Angeles County last year, while religious crimes increased 14 percent, because the southern bigots have moved in.

The Daily News in Los Angeles reports that...in 2008  in the Valley,James Shamp, an African-American man who worked as a janitor at a bowling alley in Canoga Park, was shot to death as he was throwing out trash. According to the report, three members of the Canoga Park Alabama gang, which has a long history of violent anti-black crimes, were arrested and charged with murder and hate crime enhancements.

The San Fernando Valley had the most amount of hate crimes in the Los Angeles area.

"Whenever I look at a map of hate crimes, I find there is a great diversity of hate crimes that occur in the San Fernando Valley," said Robin Toma, executive director of the commission. "You have anti-Semitic hate crimes, homophobic hate crimes and racially motivated hate crimes. There is also the phenomena of racialized gang violence."

Sexual orientation hate crimes rose the most last year, with more than 80 percent targeting gay men and at least nine crimes traced to Proposition 8.

A report on a sexually motivated hate crime from the Daily News... A white lesbian couple walking hand-in-hand on the beach in Malibu. The mother of a white tourist family from Arkansas told them, "You are going to burn in hell!" and dumped her water bottle on one of them and punched one in the face...

Please keep that level of ignorance in Arkansas,...and my family is from Arkansas.

The election of the first black president and hot-button issues such as abortion and gay marriage contributed to the spikes, anti-bias groups say. Public figures like Sarah Palin and Glen Beck have done a lot to cause the current racial hatred that whites are visiting on all others.

The two of them have been quite effective when it come to rallying sympathy for groups like the KKK and the Nazis.

USA TODAY is reporting that the number of attacks on blacks increased 8% to 2,876, accounting for seven of every 10 race-motivated crimes.

"There is this kind of extremism going on," says Hilary Shelton, director of the NAACP Washington bureau. I say to the world, this is a good look at the so-called ''Post-Racial'' America, a country where race relations and the unity of the races has been usurped by the in vogue traditional American practice of racial bias,hatred and division.

Our country has been going through this cycle for well over a Hundred and 8o years, and by the looks of things, that sad tradition will continue.

What do we do to end this....will we come together, or will we have to resort to our primal instinct, where only the strong survive.

I think that based on 200 years of data and statistics, the tradition of racism is alive, well, and thriving in the United States, and that we are guilty of the same atrocities against humanity...our own people, that we so blatantly accuse our so-called enemies of doing to their minority populations.

We are all truly hypocrites.

The Arab assault on the Jews has continued for more than half a century.

Mortimer Zuckerman claims the Arabs have failed to respond to any Jewish peace proposal.

After Yitzhak Rabin and Shimon Peres promoted the Oslo agreements, Ehud Barak, Ariel Sharon, and Ehud Olmert, prime ministers all, made dramatic proposals in search of a live-and-let-live relationship with the Palestinians – and all were rejected.

Prime Minister Sharon voluntarily withdrew every last Jewish settler and soldier from Gaza. It meant forcing close to 10,000 Jews out of their homes.

Did it bring peace?

No, the Gazans hunted the Jews who had left. They turned Gaza into a launching pad for thousands of rockets against the Jewish people.

In yet another effort to find peace, the Israelis risked their own security by dismantling security barriers and checkpoints, down from 147 to 14 in the West Bank.

They have «not been getting much credit for it», in the words of former British Prime Minister Tony Blair, but the economic results are dramatic.

Obama’s speech in Cairo in June, which he thought would open a door to the Muslim world, did not gain any takers. The only one who responded to Obama was Prime Minister Netanyahu, who made public his commitment to have two states for two peoples.

Netanyahu’s approach holds that peace will come from the bottom up, not the top down. It is both about economic development and about bringing security under control.

Several hundred gang leaders created chaos in the territories, holding back commercial and economic life, demanding protection money, killing and wounding Arabs and Jews alike.

In 2007 the director of the Israel Security Agency approached the Palestinian prime minister, Salam Fayyad, offering the wanted men a deal. If they ended their involvement in terrorism, gave up their weapons, and placed themselves under the protection of the PA, they would be taken off the wanted list after a three-stage trial period.

The plan worked. Almost 80 per cent of the gang leaders have left the world of crime and terrorism.

This progress will take more time. The Israelis will not buy words; they will buy only deeds. They will not accept the West Bank as a platform for rocket attacks that could reach every major Israeli population center.

A friend of mine who also lives in Syria just recently blogged about Western things in Syria. See here. This post is not meant to, in any way, put what she said down, or anything like that. I’ve been planning to write on this subject for a while and this is simply a different perspective. Here goes:

When I’m back in the States, people often ask if there are MacDonalds or Walmarts in Syria. I tell them no and some take it like “ohmygoshhowdoyoulive” and “well if you can’t get stuff at Walmart you must have to make your own clothes or something”. It’s as if they judge/rank a country by its amount of American stores etc. Since when did MacDonalds become the standard of fine dining? 

I feel like some people don’t even think about a country having its own ”MacDonalds” or “Walmarts”. That doesn’t make much sense. Let me put it this way: Just because a country doesn’t have some Western stores, restaurants and other facilities doesn’t mean it doesn’t have its own stores, gyms, restaurants, and fast-food.

This really irritates me. But you probably can already get that from this post…My indignation might be seeping through your computer screen. I don’t understand why people expect American “things” to be worldwide. It’s like expecting Azerbaijani stores etc. to be available in every country in the world. Why? The only answer I can come up with is that maybe the people I talk to are looking for the familiar. They hear “Syria” and “Middle East” and don’t know what to picture. So they ask for their grocery stores, their calorie-laden fast-food chains, and their favorite retail stores. They try to look for the familiar in the unfamiliar. Which, if that is the case, is forgivable. But, to which I say, in the most loving way possible, “Get your butts out of your bubble and over here to see for yourself”.

There. I’m done with my tirade now.

Progress is a subjective qualifier. I am sure many people in the Gulf are of the view that the current social changes taking place within their societies are indications of civilizational decadence not progress.

 That said, the region’s march towards the patently misogynistic goal of “gender equality” (i.e the elimination of “woman” as a social and legal category) cannot be reversed. It appears that the women of the Middle East are doomed to a future of transvestism- transgenderism. A future of pant-suits, short hair, and 9-5 working hours.

Don’t get me wrong. I don’t have anything against women working outside of the home or putting their god-given talents to good use. What I have a problem with is what I see to be a  persistent tendency to associate femininity and traditional female gender roles with inferiority.

It appears that much of popular discourse regarding the rights and roles of women in Arab society is premised upon a set of sexist assumptions.

Khwaja ‘Abdu’llah Isfahani was yet another of the venerable Khwaja Ala ad-Din’s affiliates. He said: When the venerable Khwaja first honoured me with his company, he recited these verses to me:

Let no trace of you remain;
In this alone perfection lies.
In Oneness make your being naught;
Communion lies in this alone.

Khwaja ‘Abdu’llah Isfahani wrote a very useful treatise on the Order of the Masters of Wisdom, under the patronage of a distinguished descendent of the Prophet (Allah bless him and give him peace). We shall now present some excerpts from this work:

“The principle rule of this Order [Tariqat i-Khwajagan] is the following: From whichever perfect guide the seeker receives initiation, he must preserve the guide’s image in the treasure of his heart, until the time when he begins to demonstrate how his heart has been affected by the warmth and quality of that connection. As for what is necessary after that, it is not to abandon that same image, but to embrace it much more tightly than ever. The seeker must rivet that image to his heart, with his eyes, his ears and all his faculties.

What is called the “heart” is the centre of the comprehensive human reality, of which all the higher and lower elements of the universe are detailed particulars. The seeker must exert himself to experience the substance of that lofty reality, by expressing the affirmation of Oneness in his heart, using the formula: “There is nothing in existence, other than Allah!” By making this effort, whatever temptation may be whispered, he will consider it as being from Allah and existing because of Allah. This is because that whispered temptation is also one of the mental entities, and also like so many things that are false and absurd, it actually represents a manifestation of the Truth. If this procedure is followed, an ardour will arise in the heart, putting an end to trouble and dispelling dangers.

Even when whispered temptation departs, it is essential to cling to the same relationship. If whispered temptation still refuses to go away, the seeker must pronounce the word “Allah” in a slowly drawn-out manner, while striving to establish the meaning of Oneness in the heart. He must continue to pronounce the word “Allah” until the moment when boredom and weariness overcome the lower self. If signs of tiredness and exhaustion appear, he must desist.

As the spiritual traveller is obliged to know and understand, while he is making progress in the state of detachment from himself, and in his relationship with the great saints, attention to other things amounts to something resembling unbelief [kufr].”

To be in oneself is unbelief [kufr],
while transcending oneself is true faith [iman].

Ha. So yesterday was pretty good. Monique and I went to our cousin’s baptism. Which actually was boring and uncomfortable. There something about being in a room of 100 Arabic and not a lick of English spoken that rubs me the wrong way. But, at least we had fun getting all dressed up and taking pictures.

Then, we went to alvaro’s party. Which was awesome. Hah(: first we were just hanging out and talking and stuff. And then, I gave a go at Mexican dancing and I decided that if I am going to marry a Mexican man, I should learn how to dance. Since I can already speak Spanish. Kinda. Sorta. Hah
But then it got late and we got coooold. So we brought like ten blankets in his jumper (yes, he had a jumper at his 18th birthday party) and attempted to spend the night in there. It lasted until like 3, but it was just tooo tooo TOO cold. Brrrrrr.

And his brother Andy is oh so funny. Ha. That was way tooo funny. He made me forget how cold I was and remember I had to pee. And that look he gave Monique (or shall I say Shaniqua) was oh so classic. I will NEVER forget that.

Oh and Alvaro, I’m still angry at you for telling you-know-who that he could you-know-what. Ew. If you knew I would say no, why didn’t you just tell him for me

I’m thinking about going to waterpolo practice tomorrow. But, I’m not really sure about it. Hm :\

The post will deal with the extent to which Whites respect one race or another.

First of all, an anecdote to start it off. I received a link from Stormfront linking to one of my articles about genetics and race. There was a chart there (see below), that, if interpreted in one particular way, could show that Amerindians are the closest large race to Caucasians, or Whites (this assuming that Whites are closely related to all other Caucasians, which they are). The competition was Africans, Amerindians, Siberians, NE Asians, SE Asians, Oceanians and Australoids. Of these groups, Amerinds appear to be the closest to Caucasians.

The question of the closest race to Whites or Caucasians is an interesting one. First of all we need to leave out some groups that are on the border between races.

Berbers and Bedouins are two groups of Whites that are quite close to Blacks. Bedouins and North Africans in general lump Caucasian though.

Ethiopians, Somalis, etc. are, I believe more and more, an intermediate large race in between Caucasians and Blacks. Nevertheless, on most charts they lump African so we will deal with them as Africans here.

Hispanics are a recent mixed race people that is left off most charts.

There is an axis extending from Turkey to Chukotka that I call the Asian-Caucasian Axis. On some charts, many of these groups are pretty much on the border between Asians and Caucasians and some are damned hard to put in one category or another. This includes Turks, Jews, Armenians, Iranians, Pashtuns, Tajiks, Uzbeks, Pakistanis, South Indians, Nepalese, Kazakhs, Turkmen, Kirghiz, Altai, Shor and associated North Turkic Siberians, Buryats, Mongolians, North Chinese, Koreans and the Chukchi. It also includes all associated groups.

The Chukchi are fascinating as they are an obviously Asiatic people that actually lump Caucasian on some charts.

We will leave all of these separate groups out of the analysis since on major charts, they are just lumped into Caucasians or North Asians.

However, on these same major charts, it does look like Amerindians are the closest major race to Whites.

Here is the chart in question. As you can see, the cluster of NE Asian - Siberian/Eskimo - Amerindian is the closest major race to Whites (Caucasians). According to my reading, which may be in error, the Amerindians seem to be closer to us than the others. There are other charts that also show Amerindians as very close to Caucasians.

The commenter on Stormfront noted this and commented on it, saying that he had often felt that they were the closest race to Whites. He said that when you look at them, it’s like looking in the mirror at what we used to be thousands of years ago and we could become again. In addition, he noted that he respected them as a race.

This got me to thinking. In the US anyway, Whites respect Amerindians as a race. They didn’t used to, but even in the old days, there was massive intermarriage. There is something about an Indian woman and a White man that is hard to stop. The Latin American Whites have been trying to stop White men from breeding with mestizas and Indias for centuries, and it’s a futile cause. And I respect Indians as a race too. Sure, they’ve got their problems, but they are mostly just their own problems – drugs, alcohol, self-destruction.

Even in Latin America, Indians are not so much despised, really, or not as much as Blacks. At any rate, they are not regarded as very troublesome. They are seen as potentially verbally violent, and sometimes physically, but this is not a real problem. As one White Latin American said, “Give an Indian a handful of tortillas and a six pack and he’s good for the night and won’t give you any trouble.”

This got me to thinking about whether or not we Whites respect other races. As I said, we respect the Indian. We also respect Hispanics. Since most here have a very large amount of White in them anyway, this just makes them even easier to respect. One thing you notice very quickly is that Whites don’t really hate Hispanics all that much. It’s hard to get even redneck Whites interested in hating Hispanics. We have too much common with them, and they have too much White in them. They are similar to us genetically and culturally.

Whites marry Hispanics very readily, and the usual format is White man – Hispanic woman. Hispanic women are seen as more submissive (= feminine) than White women, so it’s a natural match. A similar principle is working with White men and Indian women and White men and Asian women. A possible reason for these similarities is that Indians originate in Asian and are still quite Asian-like.

Anyway, finally getting around to the title of the post, it then occurred to me: Whites do not respect Blacks! We flat out do not respect you. Period. Exclamation point. In what way do we not respect you?

In the deepest way possible. Whites do not respect Blacks at their very difficult to change essence. We don’t respect you as a race.

As a White man who has lived his whole life in White culture, this is painfully and obviously true for the majority of Whites.

Now, the White racists will say that Blacks do not deserve to be respected for a variety of reasons, particularly behavioral ones. Let us just leave that question aside for a moment. Regardless of whether Blacks deserve it or not, we just flat out don’t respect them at their very racial essence, and that’s the only point to consider right now.

Why do I bring this up? Because really, this is at the root of a lot of the problems between Whites and Blacks in the US. We don’t respect you. And in many ways, a whole lot of other stuff just flows right out from that. Now, if Whites respected Blacks as a race, I’m convinced that race relations would be a lot different in this society.

I think we have the most divisive government that I have ever seen in my lifetime.  We are divided on race. We are divided on ideology.  We are divided with our leadership.  Most importantly we are divided by our faith.  It is there we find the greatest divide.  While Christians are being vilified as being intolerant,    Muslim extremest are being brought from Gitmo to be allowed to put our government on trial.  They call Christian extreme?

Whether you like it or not, the only extreme ledge Christians hang on is that the only way to heaven is through Jesus Christ.  The reason that become the double edged sword is that it says that if you don’t believe in Jesus for the forgiveness of your sins you cannot enter heaven.  Now here’s my question.  Why should that bother anyone?  If you don’t believe in God.  If you don’t believe that Jesus came to the earth to die for sinners. Then why should what I believe bother you.  It’s like if you are trouble by something on TV, then change the channel.  If you don’t want to believe the way I do, then just walk away.  Don’t take it so personal.

While we are unchangeable in our belief, every other religion of the world is the same.  The Muslims believe their way is the only way and they are willing to kill the infidels to prove it.  They will even become a martyrs for their believe.  You can look at other religions of the world and find the same thing.  So why is it that Christians are being demonized?  Why is our government considering people who hold to belief in the name of God’s son, Jesus Christ, people that are to be locked up?

I think it is the same reason that the Arab nations are going to march against Israel.  See I can’t understand why they want to annihilate the people of Israel.  Is it because they believe in the God of Abraham, Issac, and Jacob?  Every nation has committed acts of atrocities against humanity.  History show this to us.  I was subbing in a class last Friday and the assignment was to read the section on the Incas.  As we read this section out loud, I found that this people group was ruled in the same manner as what our government wants to rule us.  Repressiveness is not an ample reality for the US.  I am afraid that is what it will become.

When the government doesn’t like what you say, they stifle your words and thoughts.  When the government want to control business, they take over the biggest of the businesses and then control who gets what and how much they are paid.  They control what you can buy and for sure they control where you go.  We are seeing this today.  GPS may be the catch in the catch 22 phrase.  Your cellphone can be tracked.  Your new car can be computer tracked.  Isn’t it funny that the cash for clunkers main motive was to get rid of the cars that the government can’t track to put people into newer cars that can be.  The problem is that America bought it.  If you don’t believe this, then take a good look at OnStar.  This one feature has the ability to open or close the locks on your doors.  If you car were to get stolen, they can track its location and then kill the engine and lock the doors until the police can arrive and take you into custody.

I don’t think anyone could convince me of anything other.  So it’s time to be wise as serpents and gentle as doves.  It is time to trust that government will fail you.  You must choose to hold to HIS unfailing hand.

And that’s the way I see it today.

Legal experts discuss fate of settlers if Arab Palestinians unilaterally declare state in West Bank

The Jewish township of Ofra might be forced to surrender to the yoke of Islam in the name of «peace».

Legal experts told Ynet last Monday that if the Palestinians go through with their plan of unilaterally declaring a state in the West Bank, the settlers there could find their status changed to that of illegal residents.

The dean of Bar Ilan University’s faculty of law, Professor Yaffa Zilbershatz, told Ynet that in the case of Palestinian statehood, «the settlers would become a minority that an enlightened state must respect». .

Zilbershatz said that a growing trend in international law dictates the settlers could not be expelled as a minority, and that the Palestinians must offer them citizenship.

But she warns that the Palestinians would not have to respect this trend.

«The Palestinians could claim that the settlers are not legitimate residents, meaning they reside on territory in violation of international law, because they are citizens of a holding country and they should not have been allowed to live in the held territory», she said.

«On the basis of this claim, they could deport the population from the area, as though they were illegal residents».

But Dr. Ruby Seibel, former legal adviser to the Foreign Ministry, says the settlers fate will be determined by Israel, not the Palestinians.

«Israel is eventually the one to decide», he said. «In any case most countries in the world currently see the settlements as illegal… so their position according to international law is in a gray area».

Seibel claims that international law does not recognize unilateral declarations of statehood, so not only will the Palestinians not be able to determine the status of the settlers, they will also be incapable of setting their own borders.

«Borders need to be determined by the countries involved», he explained. «One side cannot just up and determine a one-sided reality. They can solve this with negotiations or they can resort to legal means».
